/ssg/ is always such a pleasant place. Best general imo.

Also, I'm still glad I picked up this jade bro. Especially now that October Toys is defunct. He's super durable so he makes a great pocket skelly.

October Toys is gone?
Shame, I really hoped the Skeleton Warriors line would continue, I really wanted them to make the 6 armed skeleton, he was my favorite as a kid.
How is Baron Dark? Is he worth the $24 I can find him for ? He looks very well done, but I just don't care for the character or the 5" scale since he's too big for 3.75 and small for 6". But it may be the only "modern" skeleton warrior figure we'll ever get, I don't see a chance for a revival.

I don't have baron dark, but I have the titan skeleton, and it's easily the sturdiest skeleton in this thread.
>>6293634
Yup, October Toys is gone. They posted an announcement in Feb 2017, removed their forum completely, shut down the store and revamped the site as "info only".
It's really a pity. They had some major ambitions, but it just seems that they lost heart (and interest) when the Grimskull KS failed back in 2015 and they never tried to do anything new afterwards.
Here's the killer- they still have to have stock, but there's no store to buy any! Doesn't make sense. You'd think that boxes of skeletons are useless to them when cash is so much more useful.
Now I'm thinking that it may have been better if ZICA Toys picked up the license for Skeleton Warriors instead. At least ZICA is moving along with a new KS (Sectaurs) pretty soon. Multiple figs in each KS.
Well, well, SSG has started up again! Sorry I missed the Feb/Mar relaunch. I've been on vacation. So what's new? Well, there's this set that I picked up in Disney World in Florida. "Pirates of the Caribbean" has always been my fave ride, so when I saw this set at the gift shop, I HAD to have it. The figs are 1:18 with somewhat stocky proportions. There is a skeleton in the set. They're not articulated, and they're akin to cake toppers, but I love them just the same.
POTC ride figure in proportion to other 1:18-ish skellys:

>>Hey /ssg/ watcha thinking?
Skeleton goodness for sale at Kaiyodo Hobby Lobby in Tokyo, last month. 4640 yen is about 41 dollars. But, I wasn't really in the market for these skeletons.
Dokuroman Halloween Nightmare and the DEVGRU skeletons are still available in Tokyo's Kaiyodo Hobby Lobby and Narita Airport at retail. 400 yen.
>>6298869
Speaking of, anyone got a link to the new dokuroman guns and trigger hands?
>>6298882
Yes, but they don't seem to be such a great deal.
The guns are painted this time, and it has a set of gripping hands. But it doesn't have the base or alternate skull like last year's Dokuroman accessory pack.
http://global.rakuten.com/en/search/?f=1&k=23359&l-id=gs_product_search&sid=auc-toysanta
4 bucks apiece seems high for what you get. Yet Pumpkin Nightmare had an entire skeleton plus accessories for 400 yen (a bit less than 4 dollars) apiece.
>>6291174
I dunno. Just skelly stuff.

New skellies! I'm tempted to buy one Osomatsu just to get the chairs they're packed with.

so many flavors of spooks!!
tempted to get phosphorus ones
>>6304267
You're in luck, there's a new wave of them in all sorts of trippy colors. Amiami has them up for pre-order. Other online stores should have them too.
I pre-ordered Stone, Wooden, Phosphorescent Blue and Phosphorescent Green myself.
I might want some of the other colors too.

>>6294832
are you aware of some nice collector display style figures of the ride that was released back in like 08-10? Some had more articulation then others but overall minimal articulation iirc. They had a couple of the skeletons from the beginning of the ride, and the red head, but she is not a skele. But they all also included a small diorama base of the portion of the ride they were in. my brothers each had one pretty cool.
Hello /ssg/ today I come to you all to share a spooky skeleton from my past.
I don't know about the rest of the world but in the UK years ago there was a kids magazine with collectable pieces to build the diorama in pic related (not mine just googled).
I was wondering if anyone else had ever heard of this skeleton? I remember never completely finishing it because it was notorious for falling apart.

Stone might work for your necromancer.
>>6310911
Sell some blood at the local blood bank, or something.
>>6311231
Why not try kidnapping? It's a victimless crime. The kidnapper gets some cash for tiny skeleton toys. The kidnappee gets to know their monetary value in the eyes of their loved ones and the ransom payers get to show the breadth of their love to the kidnappee and write off the ransom as a tax deductible.
>>6311240
The diff between doing something legal or illegal. It's f'ing stupid to do illegal stuff to buy toys. Kidnapping will get you a long prison sentence and ruin your chances forever to get a decent job. Selling blood won't. Other idea- sell your old crap on ebay. Comic books, whatever.
yo yall where can i find a 1/12 scale skellie?
>>6308377
>>6311533
Depends. If you want a true 6" skeleton and you don't need articulation, you can get them during Halloween for cheap... real cheap. As cheap as 4 for $1.00.
If you were thinking of an articulated 6" skeleton... well... that's the problem. Nobody's making a satisfactory one. The closest are the ones by Kaiyodo, but they're more like 5.5" tall.
>>6311583
>>6310610
The prelim images are just shitty photoshop edits

>>6327056
Thought of adding a paint wash to that army of skellys? That could bring out a lot of hidden detail. As I recall, Testor's has both water-based acrylic washes, and enamel-based stains. Saw them both at Michael's.
When I stained a cheapie skeleton, the results were fab:
Ayyy
>>6327898
>>6327938
Tried asking this in the 1:18 thread:
How are the Pose Skeleton accessories together with true 1:18 lines like HACKS or Marauders? The skeletons are a bit smaller in size, but does the furniture/playsets/accessories still look okay with the bigger figs?
>>6327953
You mean like the toilet? People have tried using Pose Skeleton accessories with their 1:18, and the results are mixed. Toilet is too small. Imagine a world meant for people who are 5'3" and being a 6 foot person in that world.
There are some customizing possibilities. Add a height booster to all of the rooms (about an extra half inch) and you're golden.
The Oden stand is perfect as-is for 1:18.
>>6327953
For the most part, yes. Here's the piano set with a Shodo Vs body, which is pretty much G.I. Joe/Marvel Universe size. Granted, the piano is on an elevated position but it's fine if you have 'em sitting down. This Shodo body just happened to can't sit down due to his jacket.
The fat bottoms and articulation of some figures won't let them sit in say, the rocking chair either
Otherwise, they fit well enough for the most part. Especially if you're only talking about the accessories like the laptop or guitar or something. The question then becomes whether they have the appropriate holding hands.
>>6328033
That's exactly the information I needed, yeah. I'm very interested in all the playset stuff for Pose Skeleton but there's no good comparison photos with them and other toylines online.
The oden stand is amazing so I'm glad it fits.
>>6328056
There's just one thing about the Oden stand- it's a bit skimpy on the food. But that's easy to fix. With some Sculpey and some toothpicks, you can make tons of food on a skewer and add it to the Oden stand so it doesn't look like they ran out of food at closing time.
Another tip- the red flags are made of paper. If ya want cloth, scan the paper flags, print them on inkjet iron-on paper and iron it onto real cloth. Far better aesthetics.
>>6327377
hmm... wasn't considering it at first, but after seeing how well it worked in your pic, the idea does sound appealing.

The next step is to recreate the WWII Pacific Ocean theater with GI Joes and Pose Skeletons.

>>6330973
Sadly, "best" and "inexpensive" don't go together when it comes to 1:12 skellys.
Best: Kaiyodo- minimum entry level price is 50 bucks for one.
Inexpensive: pack of 4 Halloween skeletons at the Dollar Tree during Halloween. One dollar for 4. But no articulation.
>>6328816
Ironically, Japan is the source of all of 'em. Pose skeletons vs. Dokuroman.
But, don't get the idea that Americans during WW2 were big strapping 6 footers. That's just in the movies.
They grew up during the Depression, and hunger and malnutrition were a real thing in the US. That stunted the growth of quite a few of the "greatest generation", so guys being less than 5 and a half feet tall were pretty common. But Uncle Sam was happy to draft all of them.
>>6331163
Cheers, they are indeed V-HACK Skellies. The Pillars came like that, from the old Jazware Mortal Kombat Shao Khan throne arena set.

He hasn't done any of the KT-Project or Coo models. Then again judging by his Argo review he may just be poor.
>>6331357
More like:
Doesn't collect 12" because it's too far out of scale with everything else and the house isn't big enough to house 1:6 and the supporting cast of characters, dioramas, vehicles etc. needed to build a world around them.
Could have gone for the Kaiyodo samurai skelly, but passed on the opportunity when it was 1 foot in front of me. Then ended up cashing in 5900 yen at the airport. Looking back, maybe I should have bought it.
Still love mine, they usually hang around my computer.

I do. It's small and light. Sculpt looks nice in person. The swivel hinge joints are TINY and a tad loose, so don't expect to get your gorilla standing up on its hind legs unsupported. I was sorta unhappy with mine honestly, but it's an alright figure objectively. It just feels really light and insubstantial.

>>6336410
The skeleton is an October Toys jade skeleton. Since they closed their shop, it'll be a bit hard to get one. I heard that you can contact George Gaspar via Instagram and ask to buy one.
The orange body is not a skeleton- it's a transparent orange Boss Fight Studio male body. Price is getting steep- now $16.99 for one fig.
>>6336428
Why did they close?
>>6336475
Well, they never came outright and said why. But, since I really liked what they did and I was a follower, I can speculate. Oct Toys was a husband-and-wife team that also did an online show called "Toy Break". They broke up and went separate ways, each with new significant others.
In addition, they tried to do a second, poorly thought-out Kickstarter for *one* Skeleton Warriors character that failed (Sept 2015). Around that time, they showed less and less interest in posting on their own forum, and told their own fanbase to leave the forum, for (ahem) technical upgrades that never happened. So, once the fanbase scattered, they never came back.
After the 2nd KS and forum debacles, they basically stopped producing any toylines (OMFG included). They'd occasionally offer new colors for existing molds (skeletons and OMFG figs) and would vaguely allude to a relaunch of Skeleton Warriors Kickstarter on their FB, but that never happened either. I suspect financial difficulties too, associated with the 2nd KS. It took time and money to come up with prototypes and to work with the factory to get pricing.
But they painted themselves into a corner, with a non-sustainable business model of needing $50,000 for one skeleton-ish character of an obscure cartoon with no mold reuse opportunities. Any plans to go further with individual characters from Skeleton Warriors was doomed to fail. What's frustrating is that they had success right in their hands- it was within reach. Customizable generic skeleton body parts packs with different mix n' match skulls, bones, etc. that could be bought in bulk for army building and also provide variation. They were so close to a true 1:18 sturdy skeleton... all they needed was 4 parts- shorter shinbones and legbones which could have brought their skellys to 4.5" or even a burly 4.25".
Then finally, Oct Toys died an ignominious death in Feb of this year.
Rest in peace Skelly-kun

Hey Anon with the cute sorcerer skellys:
I've got an idea for your castle. It's mostly free, using stuff that you already have.
Egg cartons for castle wall stone. Basically, sponge paint egg cartons with 3 tones of gray. Clear coat them with semi-gloss acrylic. Cut them out into small rectangles and then paste on your walls.
See result in lower pic.

Cool idea. I wonder if there is a hole punch type thing to speed up the brick cutting
>Demon Skelly being held back by single item in order
I just want my spooks, damn ti.
>>6342783
Well, it would have to be a very specialized punch for rectangles exactly 15mm x 10mm. And, it's more work to use a punch. Needing to align the egg cartons, pressing down hard and getting only one brick for the effort.
Using a pair of heavy duty kitchen shears is way faster. Just trim the cartons into strips, and then snip the bricks from the strips. You can make hundreds of them in a few mins.
I trim the corners, and that takes a little more effort. It's possible to use a nail trimmer, but it's still faster with kitchen shears.
Any good grim reaper figures out there? I've got a Clash of the Titans Charon and a pose skeleton with a sith robe but that's about it.

Well, Rement makes small toys of widely differing scales. If you buy any of the boxes that specifically say "Pose Skeleton", then you are guaranteed to get accessories that fit the 3.5" Pose skeletons perfectly. Some of them will fit 1:18 figures well.
Rement also makes miniature food toys, miniature household items, miniature home appliances. Judging scale can be more difficult. Sometimes they look great with 1:12, sometimes they look like they're meant for MEGO (9" figs) and some of them were clearly meant for Barbie (12").
The boom box and computer with the Kaiyodo skeleton shown in several posts above show that the Rement "Playback Youth Days" is in-scale with 1:12 or 1:13.

Demon complies and Sorcerer goes off to mediate. eventually, Demon starts thinking, "Why am I doing these menial chores with my POWER?". Even with tax added, it's still less than $35! Just placed my order. I can't say no to another Kaiyodo 5.5" skelly at this price.
Jason/Argo skelly available for $69-ish dollars. Not too bad a price for that one. Gotta pay if you wanna play.

You're my hero but I just don't have the money this time
>>6349362
Good looking out, sempai! Ordered one to go with my regular Jizai skelly.
>>6349362
I've unfortunately gone over my budget for this paycheck with paying for a preorder and a few things I needed, but good looking out, man.
Bought mine and then price jumped $10.
>>6349743
that's gay
>>6349362
Weird he's 42 for me
Thanks though, that's a really good price.
>>6349503
Same. I got 5 bux til Thursday.
>>6349743
Yipes! You're right! Probably when 4 orders came in today, somebody noticed and went, "Oops!". I get it- businesses need to make money. I suspect that they accidentally posted the dealer's price of $32.19 and realized their mistake when 4 of us started ordering today.
$42.19 is actually a more realistic price. The same skeleton is $49 (incl discount) at Kaiyodo's store in Tokyo. Retail is 6800 yen ($61)
Welcome to Hades

What's the total?
>>6350886
At current exchange rates, that adds up to USD70 and change. Maybe another USD10 for shipping?
I'm not that anon, but I'd say it's probably worth it.
>>6294835
What's the one on the far left and how does it compare to the HACKS skelly?
>>6350997
Kaiyodo's CapsuleQ Dokuroman skeleton. I like it better than Boss Fight's, but it does have the tendency to disarticulate. They are (or were) cheaper, so massing an army is/was easier.
>>6350886
it was around 78k yen. Worth it imo.
>>6351596
shit i mean 7.8k
>>6350841
Do you have something in mind for each colour?
>>6351831
Not yet. I just hoard Pose Skeletons.
"Boom, baby! Did someone order a necromancer!?"
"Was it you, culty? Did you summon me??"
"I'm guessing this probably isn't going the way you expected. Well, them's the breaks, kid."
>>6352348
Kind of shows the vast superiority of a Pose skeleton over any 5 POA figure and... the amazing advantages that soft goods have over molded plastic robes. Soft goods do not hinder movement or poseability, allow the figure to sit down properly while wearing it, can be worn open or closed, can be removed and traded up for a longer robe or different color... etc. I shake my head and laugh at any 1:18-ish "robed" figure in molded clothing. It...just...doesn't...work. Kylo Ren, Princess Leia, Obi Wan...
>>6352370
Words of truth, anon
Even in the case someone complain that fabric clothes doesn't looks 'realistic' in this scale, it doesn't hinder articulation like in the cases you mentioned
On a side note, I just paid for my order of this month and I can't wait to get those sweet demon skellies that comes with it (i ordered two btw)
I would be interesting is Rement would try to make some kind of angelic skelly in the future, but I knoe that for the wings they will have to make some non-anatomical accurate decisions

>>6352345
Hey! Another from the order of necromancers!
>>6352370
I want to buy just the robes from the 3 in starwars figures to use for my skeletons.
>>6352348
Also hey what are u using for your backdrop? I like it.
>>6352561
Bricks that I made out of foam and painted.
>>6352569
Fukkin nice man!
>>6350726
Creepy
I had no interest in skeletons until this specific thread
>>6354397
>>6354397
What skellys are those? They look fabulous
>>6354414
The Vitruvian HACKS skeleton warrior with GI Joe bits on it
>>6354397
Same here. Misclicked on /toy/ 2 years ago around halloween, thread caught my eye, and I've had 4 of them on my desk ever since. No regrets.

Where'd you get that shield?
*Sigh* Do some of these people actually read age-appropriateness labels before they buy toy action figs for their 4 year olds?

Looks great but not for rough kids

I bought this figure for my 4-year old boy and he loved it but after exactly 24 hours we had already lost the two hands. Two days later a leg. After two weeks I have just a head and torso. This pirate needs to be handled with care but looks great and so realistic.

Soccer moms are fucking retarded, man. You should see the ones who ceaselessly downvote model kits for not being action figures suited for dumb children.
*My husband spent five hours meticulously assembling and gluing it and it still didn't come out right*
This is on an LBX model kit, Japanese robots that are simple enough for children to make. They don't require glue and assembly takes roughly less than an hour.
>>6355379
I'm just imagining what's next:
* (One star)
I bought this Kaiyodo "Jason and the Argonauts" skeleton toy, because my 3 year old son loves the movie. Within 5 minutes, all of the limbs were scattered around the house, he swallowed the skull, and poked his eye out with the spear! He started crying and we had to take him to the hospital! Companies like Kaiyodo should NOT be making toys like this! A clear danger to children of all ages!
>>6355740
The worst part is that this doesn't even sound that strange
>>6357358
Got my devils today, they're nice. Sadly, won't have time to do anything more than sit them about the sails of my skelly galleon, but that's not too bad.
I HAVE COME MORTAL
>>6352516
My god that rubber chicken is amazing, where's it from?
How are the Takeya monster skeletons?
>what is my bidding, master?
DESTROY THE MARIO BROTHERS
>>6358182
I got it from a small toy shop in town. Called off the wagon. Idk if they have any other locations .
>>6358742
It's a disaster. Sky walker we're after. But what if he could be turned to the dark side. Yes he'd be a powerful Allie another dark jedi. He will join us or die.
Rip my wallet I just found something new to collect...

I say that but they aren't expensive
Would you guys be interested an a fully functional ceramic toilet for doll houses?
There is no doll house thread ini don't want to make one

I got my Demon Skelly today, he can't really hold the pitchfork well and the stand kind of sucks, but he's pretty cool looking and goes well with my other skellies.
Is there a good figure of a Necromancer that can be the leader of our skellie army?
Like some necromancer from Diablo or any Fantasy theme games

Dino-fag here. That's pretty rad! Looks like saurosuchus.
