Saw a MoMo Original Effects thread a couple of days ago, and now I feel like getting some kind of female robot.
What's your favourite one, /toy/?

I like my robogirls to look a little non-human.
My favorites are both Figma Drossels, and that one red robot Figma.
Animated Arcee is pretty cool as well.
Polynian Pinkle comes out next month.
She looks pretty nice.
>>

Same here. I'd probably die if GSC made a GLaDOS figma

On a bot related note, are there any cute manbots? I've got a Synthetic Human, and I'd like some along those lines. I thought about a Polynian, but the boys are too feminine for my tastes.
>>
I love girl robots but almost all look too human for my tastes. I like 4 or higher. What about you, /toy/?

>>6289213
I've got a 3D printed model of her that's pretty nice. I don't know if they'd want to sink so much money into making something like that. She'd be HUGE, pretty niche in interest level and expensive as hell to ship. I'd totally pay whatever price they'd ask though.
>>
I would love a robot boy, not manly, not mechy, but something like a cute shota boy made of metal or plastic parts.

Adding in model kits, plus some robots meant to otensibly be female or effeminate, we have

>Koto Dolores, Roll, Fairlion, Valsione
>HG GN Archer
Also comes as an RD
>HG Nobell Gundam normal/berzerker
>HG Farsia
>Daibadi's Tengen Toppa robots (Solvernia/Yoko)
>Daibadi Aphrodite A, Venus A
Good luck finding that second one though
>Daibadi Virtual-on kits
>Mazinger Soul of Chogokin; Aphrodite A, Diana A, Venus A, Minerva X, plus Mazinger Angels variants and other variants
>Various LBX kits
>Hagesawa's Virtual-On kits
>Iron Factory Giant's Maiden, Pink Assassin
>Fansproject Echara, Comera
TF Fans seem not to like them for a medley of reasons.

To start reaching, you have the various Qubeleys, the three Gerbera Tetras, Miss Sazabi, Palace Athene, etc, or to reach even further, suits like the Bolinoak Sammahn RD as it was piloted by a woman.

From Daibadi's Polynian line this is Shamrock and his alt coloration. He's hard to find for a fair price because he has a giant robobulge and that is apparently everyone on /toy/'s fetish.

There's a schoolboy robot named Emil and a swimsuit boy named Lucio coming out soon.
>>
>>6289521
This chart has a flaw. Jenny from MLAATR belongs in the #4 category. The show itself has stylized faces, and hers has enough humanoid features to differentiate her from Drossel. The only thing that differentiates her face from other humans is a nose, but otherwise she has emotive features.

Hehe yeah. The Kotobukiya Racaseal model kits were all designed and molded by a guy named Wakari Apsy who is extremely famous in Japan for his garage kids. It wasn't long until a lot of people started paying him to do designs for them. Apsy is most famous for his contributions to Good Smile, specifically the Figma brand products, but he's done a shit ton of other stuff and garage kits. Ver.APSY is like Ver.KA basically.
>>
>>6289900
The dinosaur ladies suffer from a variety of issues including really bland transformation schemes that basically wear the alt mode on the back, strange choices for detail molding like the infamous boob eyes, and QC issues on top of being original characters when the usual focus are making high-end versions of existing ones. Iron Factory's little robot girls have stronger reception and are considered cute. MMC's Azalea and recolors fall under opinions tier because of fragile and very intricate design. Titanika is generally liked, but is barely feminine because of the base character already being huge utilitarian armored truck thing (still the most humanoid of her group though, because the Vehicons in general had crazy designs) and being designed to share a mold with a male character.
>>
>>6290684

Yuniko is human in the real world, but like everyone in the Accel World game, her avatar Scarlet Rain is a robot (or robotic, at least).

I guess you could call it power armour over a human base if you wanted to be super technical, but I don't have any problem with sexy power armour either.
>>
>>6291408
True that. definitely didn't stop me from getting her along with Black Lotus.

Does this also make armored Samus in her various forms or other characters like the female Guyvers viable for this as well?
>>
>>6291415
I suppose it depends on how much you feel like letting the lore override the aesthetics... everyone's going to have thresholds.

Depending on how robot you like your robots, Canti is cool, and so is K2SO, even if his movie wasn't very good. I also like 3a bots, tho that's a particular style. There are also mechs like Jaeger's and Gundams I suppose.
>>
>>6294271
Hands are definitely a weakness when it comes to lego figures. Especially because of the lack of bendable fingers.

>>6294273
Yeah absolutely. All you need to do is keep track of the weight of the build. Different connections have different weight tolerances, so you wanna make sure you don't go overburdening the connections with too much weight.

That's not totally correct, It seems like the MoMo line is still kicking, in February, amiami had a exhibition with various toylines (Polynians, Beast Box Dinos, etc) including the MoMos
Also Optune had a booth on this lates Wonfes where he show the MoMos and based on the pics shown there, was cards with the 'Milestone' brand in display, my guess is that this company seems have taken the MoMos under their wing to release them, as Original Effect seems to have died as a company

Honestly I'd say the best way to learn is through just doing it yourself. If you've still got lego from your childhood, dig it out from whatever dark corner of the attic it's stuck in and just build. Otherwise, you can go out and buy a handful of cheap sets and see what you can do with parts from those.

I have her, as it happens. She's pretty alright but her wrench hands are a bitch and her joints were tight enough OOB to merit using warm water.

So, we are gonna see any update until NYCC, in early October
Not sure about what they mean about the new figures, Maybe Milestone will announce some new figures for PO soon? I will tweet them about this to see what AV guys have to say

>>
>>6289521

>>
>>6320648
All of the MoMos released so far weren't from Mile Stone, but Original Effect. Original Effecr QC was so-so on physical stuff and usually varied wildly in regards to paint.

Mile Stone is "new", so assuming they release some MoMos in the future we have yet to actually sample their QC. Have patience.
>>
>>6294300
>Original Effect seems to have died as a company
They deserved it. They never managed to get their QC to a reasonable level despite all the chances people gave them. It wasn't just the MoMo that had QC issues and blatant false advertising in the form of totally different paint apps or missing paint.

I look forward to what Milestone does. Hope they are better because I want to buy MoMo but I refused to support Original Effect.

Just to warn you, polynians are super cute and have great designs over all but some of the first addition releases can be pretty wonky, the Yume fig had shitty joints that wouldn't stay in place and I'm pretty sure the Shamrock had... some issue with the head accessories?

I'm willing to throw in a shot for Pinkle but I'm also been waiting for this one for about a year, so word to the wise.
>>
>>6327147
Stop scaring people. It's because Daibadi is one guy and the shitty Chinese factories like to fuck him over. OG Shamrock had no problems and neither did Clover.

Pinkle has been delayed now because the factories keep sending unsatisfactory production samples and he won't give them the go-ahead until they're not shit. He doesn't trust them after Yume was fucked up which sent the line into infamy after.

This also applies to the MoMo line, as it is created by one guy (Optune), I believe that the production samples aproved by him were ok in the QC dept, but most of the issues of loose joints and not as good paint apps were fuckups in the mass poduced batches, I agree that Optune should have insisted in keep the level of detail of the missed paint apps in final figures compared to the prototype, but then again, it could happen that the production samples that he approved have them in the first place and then in the production line they omited some of these just because they were fucking lazy, who knowns

I really meant more the hoarding than anything else, it sounded like you wanted to sell them. You are right in that there likely will not be reissues, but you should consider Origina; Effect's QC before buying in all cases, and this is as someone who owns three of them.

Also, Eins and Zwei are half off on HLJ, so there's that if you're interested.

I think this review does a good job going into some of the differences between them: https://myfigurecollection.net/blog/3530

I own both, and I think they're both great figures, but it depends on what you want. The Chogokin's eyes are comparatively dead, and its arms aren't great, but overall it has a crisper sculpt and i think it fits her mechanical nature very well. The figma has more accessories and is overall more flexible. Neither is a bad choice, really...but yeah, I wish the Chogokin had eyes more like the figma.

too fucking late I caved and nabbed Daisy instead
>>
>>6386280
Daisy has a pretty cool sword but she has trouble holding it because her arms can't support something that heavy. Honestly just get some revoltech joints and replace all hers with them. She gets like 60% better once you do.

cheers for the advice
I think I actually have a bag laying around somewhere already so thats a bonus!

Two interesting Assemble Borg characters are up for pre-order it seems, they appear to use the revoltech ratchet joints though.

Quick question, which robot girl figure could be said to have the largest bust?
>>
>>6418826
Probably one of the Mazinger girls. Tengen Toppa Yoko W Tank would be the biggest ever, but doesn't have a figure. I think in Transformers, either Megatronia or the third party Strika by MMC(In Animated, which that version is based off of, she has canonical missile tits.
>>
>>6414990
What figure is that and where do I get it?
>>
>>6422614
MoMo Margarita.
Semi-exclusive-ish; made on a per-order basis, but you can pick her up and Mandarake. Keep in mind as an Original Effect item she may be subject to QC issues; use a warm water bath.

Next time you see one let me know please. [email protected]
>>
>>6376770
I just grabbed this one from amiami at 4780 yen, pre owned, did I do good?
>>
>>6296821
Why is the robot tipping over backward? Is it cause he's too top heavy?
>>
>>6425121
Watch out for QC, but sure, why not?
Have fun.
>>
So with the quality control issues for the Momo figures, what exactly do I need to do to keep my figure intact - I just ordered the cat one and I'm not sure what to expect.
>>
>>6435243
Just be careful with the knees; use hot water on them if you think they feel stiff out of the box. You may also want some revoltech joints, because while the ball joints in the arms usually don't break, they aren't quite strong enough to lift the big cat paws on Tigga and Myga.

If other ball joints are too loose, you can either try to tighten them, get Kotobukiya MSG parts, or revoltech parts to replace them.
>>
>>6435243
She wont be able to hold many arm up poses unless you fix the joints.

Well she arrived and basically had most of the issues described. The shoulder and arm joints are loose as hell and the tail plug seems a tad too big to actually fit in the back. Someone mentioned revolvetech joints as replace them, does anyone have a link to a good shop to get them from?

With the exception of the arm poses when shes standing up, she's cool. If I don't replace the joints I'll probs just get a couple of stands to hold her arms if I need too. That and just be careful with the tail. One complaint though is kind of the head and how its not one piece - kind of throws they symmetry when its not balanced perfectly
