Old bread >>6279807
Oh no! The old Leonidas had ASS joints. Stay away from this one until reviews, guys.
>>6287129
I thought they fixed them with the black repaint?
>>6287133
What did they mean by this?
>>6287166
If you look at the image again the left one has a bow attached to the end of it
I wonder where you can get the exclusive "Origrin" version though
>>6287123
>>6287133
Please don't be shit this time. I don't even know anything about this Not-Lionoptimus in terms of actual character, just this design is rad as fuck and I'm pissed the original PE release was such shit. I hope they learned all of their lessons and this one is rock solid and amazing, because I do want to buy this if it isn't shit like their first try.

OH GOD PLEASE DON'T FUCK THIS UP.
GORIRA WAS GREAT. DO THAT AGAIN. PLEASE.
Alright /3pg/, whats the best faction stickers to buy for most 'bots? Clear backed? Silver backed? White backed?
For that "traditional" look, what did most G1 figures use? It was white backed ones, right?
>>6287123
oh god please be able to do the obari pose.
>>6287543
ah, well i usually don't see the obari sword as so high up, more parallel to the ground. maybe its just a matter of perspective.
11th for oh god why
>>6287123
Still looks pretty shitty.
>>6287123
The sword never gave the impression that it can hinge apart like that. Neat. Looks like a bunch of junk on his back though.
>>6287071
Hopefully they fixed the joints and the tolerances of the little bits so its not the prettiest piece of shit like the first two releases were. This is what, the third go at this mold? They aren't saying they fixed anything in the poster though.
>>6287123
As a Zoids fan this looks super badass. I don't know much about Transformers, are there others (3rd party or not) that are similar to this?
>>6287667
>As a Zoids fan this looks super badass
Oh but what could have been. It was originally straight up going to be a Liger.

MMC's Leodux, aka Not-Razorclaw.

I actually got Nemean as a standalone specifically because of how Zoids-y he is.

I'm glad they didn't go that route to be honest. The one they came up with is much sexier.

>>6287979
Not him but the diecast was part of the problem of the figure.
>>6287791
How does it feel knowing you're the only person on the planet with that opinion?
>>6287698
>TCP has Striker Noir in stock!
No, they don't. That is a production sample you dumb shit.
Local toy shop in my area had this guy for sale complete with the Classics Ultra Magnus for the core bot.
They also have the Rodimus and Optimus from the same line. I know they're old'uns, but are they worth picking up? They also come with their associated classics figures.
I actually really enjoy the Magnus.
>>6287979
>hating something actually bad for a toy makes you the same person
I'm not that anon either, but die cast is usually a problem for a toy, not a benefit.
>>6287460
Anyone?
>>6287979
diecast is only good when used as a non-moving solid piece towards the bottom of legs or in feet for stability. Using it in any other way will fuck a toy.
>>6288091
And by the Optimus from the same line I mean the more extensive kit that transforms with the figure while attached.
>>6288091
The Rodimus set is pretty awesome, except for the face.
The Optimus set is pretty much the same as the Magnus set.
>>6288176
Doesn't look the same
>want Gravity Builder
>no one has all the parts in stock anymore
>no idea if it's ever getting reissued
>only thing on the horizon is that fucking clear version that will surely break within a day because huge+heavy+most fragile plastic is surely a good combination, right guys?
>>6288181
Isn't that a completely different figure?
>>6288242
Nope, it's an add-on kit for Classics Optimus.
This one is less of a trailer that converts into armor and more a total conversion addon.
Look close and you can see some of the original detail peeking out.
>>6287780
I still neat to get this team, I love the aesthetic, and since it lost out in the predaking race, I can get them for relatively cheap
>>6288195
I just ordered one off YaHobby last Saturday, but.. no clue if they actually have it or not. Hasn't even updated from "Processing" yet, but I've heard that the owners of the site do fuck-all in terms of updating orders or responding to emails, only paypal disputes get their attention, otherwise they just ship it eventually and it'll get there.
Awww yes. This beautiful bastard is coming into stock again soon. Can't wait.

>>6288889
Leonidas cartoon version in OP's pic.
>>6288553
A swear the thumbnail kinda looks like his holding a small bottle of lube in his left hand, I thought he was going to do lewd things.
That being said he awesome figure only annoyance was the elbow plows popping off but that seem to work it self out after awhile.
How's gravity builder?
Really tempted to get him
>>6288882
1550 dollars?
>>6288904
>that hotdog mobile
Man, what a weird figure that was.
>That being said he awesome figure only annoyance was the elbow plows popping off but that seem to work it self out after awhile.
I've heard this from other people. Apparently the problem just stop after a while.
>>6288938
Not that Anon, but parts popping off are usually one of two things: Too loose or too tight. In this case, since it apparently stops happening, it's probably that it's just too tight, and eventually I guess it scrapes away enough plastic or deforms enough it stops being too tight.
>>6287123
I want to fuck this figure
I hope someone that isn't TFSource carry him, last time I bought something from the US taxes destroyed my wallet
>>6288904
>>6288938
It was the weirdest shit, but it happened with him and commotus. I remember messing around with spartan for like an hour when I first opened him and they went from popping off every minute to never happening again after that day.
It's cool that he got a reissue though, I had to hunt high and low to find one.
>>6289062
>>6289059

>>6289093
you fucking dust that shit right now!
>>6289093
>tfw I like the new hasbro topspin more than apex and geminus I paid out the ass for
Feels weird. I really missed the boat on assaulter though, I need to get around to finding one now that the official one didn't pan out.
>>6289110
Can you do me a big favor and take a photo of Apex next to TR Topspin?
>>6289093
>>6289110
I got them at retail price for my Wreckers shelf, There fine for their time. I want get the Hasbro topspin just to check it out. I also thinking of replacing my CHUG Preceptor and Kup(takara version) for the new ones.
>assaulter
He could but he came form that age where all 3rd where like we use diecast parts cause we can stage. So he heavy as fuck.
>>6289093
Dust happens
>>6289139
>assaulter
He is good but he came from that age where all 3rd parties were like Hey lets use alot diecast parts cause we can stage. So he heavy as fuck, Solid just a not fun to transform.
Sorry I was zone out when I wrote that.
>>6289139
>>6289146
I don't know. New Perceptor just doesn't do it for me, especially I want a IDW/Wreckers-ish version of him.
Assaulter is still one of my favorites. That jet mode especially is pure sex.
>>6289146
>>6289149
Oh, I also meant to say that if you take out Assaulter's hip ratchet he transforms much more easily. That weird hip fold things he has to do becomes a piece of cake. And the friction is more than enough to hold poses.
That is, the ratchet in the top of his legs, not the one in the bottom of his torso.
>>6289126
You got it pal.
>>6289139
Apex just looks emaciated next to the hasbro one. It's almost TOO beefy, but I definitely prefer the proportions on the official one. The sculpting is a lot softer though, so eh. Also, apex's hips went super floppy pretty much within a week after opening him and I've never been able to fix them, and that's probably my main problem with him.
Overall I really miss mech ideas though. Their ironfist is still amazing, if you don't get unlucky and get one with exploding hips.
>>6289146
>that fort max
Jesus, it's like every picture of yours reminds me of something I need to buy.
>>6289150
Yeah, his jet mode Blows the hasbro one out the water but I like the Hasbros carrier mode. Maybe I will get the Tidalwave
>>6289157
>that fort max
I have to upgrade kit on him now. now he a tall as a leader lass
>>6289139
>that almost hidden Ironfist
I'm still bitter as fuck that I missed out on him and now he's impossible to get.
>>6288091
Depends on what they're asking?
>>6289209
$99 for the Hot Rod with the Protector armor.
Like $115 for the Prime with the Parallax upgrade.
Ultra Magnus was like $99 but I got him for cheap because I sold them a few things.
This is the same shop that sold me Utopia for $150
Anyone here mind recommending me combiners?
Like best devastator, bruticus, menasor and predaking?
>>6289309
With devastator it depends on what you want (scale, g1 accuracy). Toyworld just released a V2 of their dev and he's pretty cartoon accurate and MP scale. The other Option is Generation Toys gravity builder who's more stylized while I think he's meant for chug scale he can work in MP. for Predaking go with MMC feral rex.
>>6289309
Gravity Builder for Devastator
Feral Rex for Predaking
The other two are up for debate
How is Unique Toys' quality control?
I've always liked AOE Lockdown's design.
>>6289349
Its hit or miss.
>>6289354
fug
>>6289349
Only UT figure I've owned is Mania King and I have zero complaints.
>>6289146
How's Warden?
>>6289372
Different anon, but I love him. His alt mode is a bit love it or hate and he's very partsformy but he's so well made and very striking. He just looks great. Although he kind of feels like some other high end robot figure than a transformer.
>>6289309
Depends. The ones that are usually the shoe in for the "best so far" category might have variable aesthetics/scale between eachother or there isn't anything else to compare it to.
The best complete package for a combiner so far is TFC Poseidon (Piranacon). Simply because almost everything it sets out to do looks and feels solid. The alt modes are great, the robot modes are good enough as stand alones, the combined modes work. The gun modes are a little more of an extra but they work well with some fan moding. This is saying something since the rest of TFC's combiner lineup can't support their own weight or look like a pile of junk. In some cases its both.
>>6289349
Based on reviews it seems like their newer releases are pretty chunky and playable compared to the competition—look at any 3rd party character war (Megatron, Blitzwing, Springer, etc) and the UT/DX9 is probably the most "toy-like."
>>6289309
Speaking of a Bruticus (because Warbo is trash) will we ever get a CHUG scale one that isn't FP Colossus?
>>6289411
Get the UW with add on parts.
>>6289414
>>6289309
MMC's Feral Rex for Predaking.
GT's Gravity Builder for Devy
??? for Menasor, sorry, he has nothing good yet.
Nothing for Bruticus, he doesn't really have a great one out there yet, same as Menasor.
Quantron for Computron
TFC's Poseidon for Piranacon
Wait to see if Pestilence turns out good if you want a Liokaiser, because TFC's turned out shitty
>>6289391
Wait, what's the relationship between UT and DX9? I can't keep up with this shit
>>6289423
What if I want the addon kit, but only want a silver chest plate? A brown and purple chestplate is not for me.
>>6289493
I mean, did it even need reviews? It's just Striker Manus in black with a bunch of extra accessories. SM is already a good figure by a mostly trusted 3P company. The chance of anything being wrong with it was low.
>>6289425
Tfc's liokaiser was okay if you wanted to fuck with fixing it and are okay with fixing a $600 set out of the box.
Also the KO oversized warbotron bruticus is a really solid Bruticus. Fixed all the issues with Warbotron and kept the plastic quality good.
>>6289496
Should I add Rioter Despotron to my Noir order? I don't have Manus, but I figured Classics could make an OK stand-in.
>>6289378
I love him but, i will never transform him again.
Saved from a while ago but does anybody know who this is?
>>6289603
It is shit and it doesn't belong here.
>>6289606
You are probably right but who is it?
>>6289608
Blitzwing
>>6289608
Thats an official 'bot. Thrilling 30 Generations Blitzwing. Not a very good figure due to paint scraping issues and shoulder tabbing issues.
>>6289606
Now I understand your comment as well lol sorry about that my dude
>>6289593
Yes. Rioter is better than manus imo.
>>6289513
and more or less 1/4 of the price of the original one. It's amazing
>>6289372
Robot mode and head mode are god tier, as far as I am concerned. Vehicle mode... not so much.
Speaking of Lio, does anyone know about the Neoarts KOs? Their Feral Rex KOs were pretty good, but those were based on already well made toys. Do you think they'll improve the mold?
I'm certainly interested for the EVA deco, though it's worrying that they used a picture of a random dude's custom for the preorder page:
https://www.tf-direct.com/neoart-toys-ko-pe-leonidas-eva-version_p1537.html
>>6290328
KOs that have better joints than the originals are almost unheard of. The times where that's been the case have been recent, and have been Transformers, but they weren't from that company, so I expect it to suck at least as bad as the original in at least the ways the original sucked, but for a much more reasonable price. With that and a hopefully improved version from actual PE it should kind of cover all bases and offer the best of both worlds. If you're okay with it having a lot of issues but just wish the price better reflected that, there'll be the KO. If you are down to pay the premium price but just want the quality to live up to it, there'll be the new version. That is unless PE fucks it up.
Did any 3P ever make a trailer for HasTak legends optimus? I have the Nemesis repaint and I really love him. The IDW styled one.
>>6290328
I'm almost certain the Neoarts version will be an improvement. They probably won't actually do any improvements in terms of design/engineering but going by their feral rex, the joints won't be floppy like the original PE.
Neoarts does good shit, they make Saint Seiya Myth Cloth KOs under a different name and they are not floppy pieces of shit like the original bandai versions are.
Question for anyone who might have the Feral Rex set and who also buys faction stickers and the like: Will the "Symbols for Decepticons" from toyhax work with them? Or would the stickers be a little too big/too small?
>>6291360
Well they come in several sizes, so they might have a standalone sticker that would fit. However I do know that Toyhax does have dedicated sticker sets for Feral Rex if you want to go the extra mile.

>>6291605
Yeah those dedicated sets are way too expensive and have way more than I want, I was just looking for some faction symbols and wanted to know if their regular multi-sized symbol sheets fit them. I figured someone here might know since this board seems to get a lot of people with stuff like this.
>>6288160
>putting any stickers on your toys, ever

>>6288160
I use white backed mostly.
Does anyone have this? How is it? I saw someone asking in an old thread about their Aranea and people told him it was shit, I'm wondering if the "original" is as well
>>6292345
Same tendency to snap bits off with transforming but I don't think the tolerances are as bad otherwise. God I wish Aranea was actually fucking good. It looks incredible and all the things you can do with it gives you play options.
>>6289391
If that's the case then I'm hyped for that guy.
>>6292351
Same man. I'd kill for a re-release with her issues revised
>>6292497
Starscream, the only transformer that actually makes sense to give a translucent version to.
>PE gets it shit together
>Top notch Transformers slathered in paint with actually good QC at competitive prices
>Able to produce more than 1 figure a year with increased sales revenue
Other 3P companies should be afraid. Beast Gorira was huge and gorgeous for 170 bucks. If they nail Leonidas v3 they would give FT and MT a run for their money.
>>6292610
BG was a massive step up by virtue of not being a piece of shit. PE's sculpting and paint have always been cream of the crop but their Q/C, tolerance, and sturdiness has fucked more than a few of their releases. That and their transformation engineering was lacking. They get their shit together and they would be top dog.

>>6293088

>>6292668
I hope they become the Transmetal/cybertronian beast company. I want Rampage and TM tarantulas(which, given their interest in IDW,they could possibly remold as IDW Tarantulas, who has the TM robot mode with an organic beast mode), both forms of Transmetal Megatron, and BWII Galavtron. A cybertronian Magnaboss would also be cool.

Looks like they're making a Megatron, an AOE OP, and a Brawl too.
So I've got my tax return coming. I see this third party Leo Prime and think he looks really cool. But people say he's fragile as shit and breaks constantly? Tell me this ain't true.
>>6293946
We don't know yet. The first release was like that, but this is a rerelease, and their last release was really good.
>>6293956
I might just chance it anyway because I have poor impulse control.
>>6293870
There's actually two companies making Blackouts. AFAIK Dream Factory has announced one but no proto yet, and then there's some other company that is making this one
>>6293946
The use of diecast bogs down the figure and the joints/little bits are prone to snapping. This was the case for the first release and the first retool despite the retool having a ton of changed parts to make sure it wouldn't happen again. This is the third time they'll be retooling and releasing the mold. The only good news is that that their Optimal Optimus was build well.
>>6293946
Wait and see until he comes out. Their first and second versions were fragile as shit but they have since released a really good optimal optimus so me and everyone else who had a boner for the mold is eager to see if it's good.
I actually like it so much I'm willing to preorder it just because of how good it looks. I'll distribute the pics in this thread when he gets here.
I never got to answer this from the previous thread, but my first 3rd Party Toy was the FansProject addon sets for RotF Bruticus (Munitioner/Swindle and Explorer/Blast Off).
After that, I got TFC's not!Constructicons to make Hercules/Devastator.
I latest ones are the Perfect Effect addons pieces for CW Bruticus, and Perfect Beast Gorira/Optimal Optimus.
Pretty damn grand, I say.
>>6293957
Same famalam.
It may or may not be worth noting but ToyWorld has stated they THEY WILL NOT release a V2 version of their Bruticus and Superion combiners because they intend to do it right the first time.
Source: TW's representative of TFAutism
has there been a really good third party Perceptor?
>>6294095
Yeaaah I've heard that one before.
>>6294095
I mean...if they're telling the truth I guess that's nice for the people who insist on being early adopters to know they're not going to feel stupid when a new version comes around, but if they actually stick to that then overall that just means when they fuck up now they're NEVER going to fix it, which isn't an improvement lol. Like saying "we're not going to fuck it up in the first place" doesn't mean anything, it's not like they fuck up on purpose and can just decide not to.
>>6294197
I don't personally like the shade of blue they used but otherwise Fanstoys Tesla seems great.
>>6293968
>There's actually two companies making Blackouts.
Well shit this is better than I could have ever hoped for, can't wait.
>>6293968
Looks great, but transforming it (if it transforms) looks like a nightmare with all those thin wires and such.
>>6294095
Yeah nah, not falling for that one.

>100% sure the same will happen to the official rebooted MPM line

>>6294197
Planet X's Asclepius is incredible, but it is voyager-scale and the Fall of Cybertron design and can't turn into a microscope, so depends on what you want.
>>6294636
It's only a matter of time before engineering gets good enough to where MP quality/scaled movie designs get made.
I would pay the 400 dollar ultra premium pricetag on a 3A movie 1 blackout because I love the design so much.
>>6294265
I believe Tesla comes with two different sets of blue parts
how long before we hear if mmc is actually going to do a set for kultur with a better faceplate like they did with overlord?
>>6294803
>I would pay the 400 dollar ultra premium pricetag on a 3A movie 1 blackout
you and me both, as long as they do a good job getting him to look right anyway
>>6289593
Do it, Noir's weapon kit has some bits that have extra directionality with Rioter
>>6294817
I dunno. There's plenty of neat standalone designs from the movies that I think people will pay for. Barricade, Prime, Megs (movie 1), Blackout, and Jazz in particular I think people would pay triple digits for.

>>6294853
>Cap on megatron
Has your paint held up?
>>6292492
Wait, are they doing ghost him as a build a figure?
>>6294814
Overlord wasn't a better face though, it was an entirely different one. The current face is IDW Overlord, and it's a very good rendition of that. The other face is a more G1 Overlord. Neither are bad, just different for different tastes.
Also I'd have to see what they'd do to Kultur's face to make it worth buying any addon kit. Frankly, if they changed ANYTHING, it'd be better to change his cannon attachment to a much smaller piece so it doesn't get caught up on his Spess Muhreen huge shoulders.
>>6293787
That Brawl's just a repaint of the original leader toy bro, don't get your hopes up.
>we'll tell megatron it was starscreams fault you consumed the experimental energon
Is there a guide or something that shows all third party makers? Looking to get some but have no clue what is "good" or "bad".
>>6287133
i dont know what was up with the original, but i found the black boy, and while not exactly "rock solid", i was able to get him do a superkick.
>>6295135
Not really. You can find out what exists most easily probably by like browsing through TFSource or another store like that (things they're sold out of are for the most part probably still around on eBay), and then if you find things you like you can just ask around about them places like here or look for reviews. IMO as far as reviewers Bobby Skullface is the most reliable at pointing out everything that's a potential problem with a figure but he hasn't like reviewed absolutely everything. And there's companies that are pretty reliable like Fans Toys for example but it's still best to research/ask around about a figure on an individual basis.
>>6295143
Thanks senpai.
>>6295135
We really should make a chart or something but-
>great tier
Fan Toys
Maketoys
>good tier
MMC
>ok tier
Dx9
Badcube
Fans Hobby
>wait for reviews tier
KFC/XTB
Toyworld
>>6295146
What puts Fans Hobby so far down the list for you? Not like trying to tell you you shouldn't have that opinion or whatever, just curious. Cause I'd kind of put them at the top of mine, they're new but they've yet to fuck anything up.
>>6295146
Honestly, I think the smartest thing is to consider anything that isn't like literally a repaint of a figure that was already released and was good "wait for reviews" tier. None of this stuff really seems to sell out before reviews begin to surface and like I do trust Fans Toys and shit but there's no particular reason to actually buy anything without waiting till you can double check that they didn't botch it.
>>6295172
(Which is not to discredit the idea of like a tier list of companies, I'm just saying I think "wait for reviews" should be a general policy if you don't want to risk throwing money away)
>>6295172
>>6295173
Yeah I just preorder shit from BBTS both to sort of keep a list for myself and in case they sell out. And BBTS lets you cancel whenever you want and usually reviews start coming out way earlier than they actually start charging for stuff, especially since BBTS tends to get things kind of late compared to some other stores, so I still get to cancel if reviews say something's shit.
>>6295146
Planet X - great or good? They have flaws, but very minor. Except PX07. Fuck that pos
>>6295245
After Vulcun they have a lot of good will in my eyes. That thing is GOAT.
>>6295135
Working on it actually. This shits gotten to big to not have a dedicated database of everything. Best place to search for what exists is BBTSs third party section, searching TFW2005's pinned catalog thread, or wiki alpha.
While some companies are more reliable than others there are always miracles and duds. Always wait for reviews.
Here's how I'd rank a tier list
>God Tier: usually anything they make is excellent
Fans Toys
Maketoys
Iron Factory
Master Made
Fans Hobby
>High Tier: has made excellent stuff but is less consistent
Perfect Effect
MMC
Planet X
>Mid Tier: Either makes good stuff but not quite "excellent" or has only had occasional gems
Unique Toys
TFC
Fansproject
Spark Toys
>Low Tier: Have made good stuff but are kind of a crap shoot
Toyworld
DX9
Badcube
Everything else is either so shit that you probably shouldn't even consider it (KFC, X-Transbots, etc.), or I just don't have enough experience with them to comment (Generation Toy, Warbotron, G-Creation, etc.)
>>6295409
>I've handled about 15 3p products in my life: the post
I think the only universally agreed upon constant is:
KFC: SHIT TIER.
So, I've been thinking on getting FansToys FT-14 Forager for some time now, so I wanted to ask about the QC of him? Does he feel sturdy enough? Is it "fun" transforming him? Is he really worth the price in the end?
>>6295523
I have bought exactly one KFC product
As a stand alone figure, it is pretty awful.
As an addon to Star Saber, it looks great but could have used another couple of revisions design wise.
>>6295656
You could just skip Striker Manus for Thunderous Manus. But now there's going to be a black repaint of that too...
>>6295523
Except for when they're not. Examples like pure red transistor and crash hog. They can make good stuff, they just choose not to.
>>6295680
I have the FP upgrade trailer/suit for Classics Nemesis so I'm at least somewhat set on a "large" black Prime. Obviously nowhere near as intricate.
>>6295680
I was going to skip Striker Manus for Thunder, but Thunder Manus' core robot is abctually a smaller figure and not the Striker figure armored up. What a shame.
>Preorder safe tier
FansToys
MakeToys
>Probably great tier
MMC
MasterMade
Planet X
>Okay tier
DX9
>Probably bad tier
ToyWorld
KFC
>SHIT
Xtransbots
Need advice /toy/, Carnifex, yes or no? Seems good enough would like original Overlord but finding one in good condition and high complete is hard.
>>6295835
Carnifex is a fantastic figure. Very poseable and fun to mess around with. Big, emotive, etc. As long as pic related aesthetic doesn't appeal to you more it's a safe purchase.
>>6295835
Carnifex is a great figure. I think if you're interested in the original Overlord figure then like the Fans Hobby Overlord seems like it will actually be a better modern substitute? At least it's a lot more directly based on like G1/Headmasters Overlord and the old toy, etc. But regardless Carnifex is generally regarded as one of the best 3P figures.
>>6295849
They're new but their releases have been spectacular from what I hear. I have their Archenemy(Black Convoy/RiD Scourge) and its already one of the best toys I've gotten this year.
whatever happened to those not-Gobots that were being made?
they dissappeared halfway the 2nd wave
Assuming I could only get one, Kultur or Spartan?
>>6295856
Both are solid. Kultur would be easier to track down currently though.
>>6295863
Spartan is in stock at bbts currently.
>>6295877
Then it might be best to jump on it then.
>>6295854
Do you mean the Machine Robo stuff? As far as I know they haven't been cancelled, but are just taking a while. Considering how long it took for any to come out at all, that's not too surprising.
>>6295169
I admit I maybe should have put them in the good tier but, I don't think they've earned the right to be in the same tier and FT and MT just yet.
>>6294855
>Cap on megatron
I haven't transformed or taken the caps off. Only thing so far I done was change the face.
I been told I need to heat up the cap to remove it.
>>6295849
>How good is Fans Hobby?
Love the aesthetic. Personally, mind had a bum left arm (the screw holding the left robot arm together kept unscrewing), but FH sent me an entire replacement for it.
>>6295908
From everything I've read don't even bother Transforming him. Treat him like a Sentinel Re:edit premium action figure and everything will be fine.
>>6296004
Man, I get that transforming it will likely damage the figure in some way, but the thing is that there could be a better looking G1 Megs figure that doesn't transform. This one makes sacrifices in order to transform, so treating it like a non-transforming action figure seems like a waste.
>>6296010
I really, really wish he was a non transforming action figure. That way he could have the perfect cartoon proportions and sculpt without having to make a pistol and all the problems that comes with.
It reasonably makes sense since he canonically turns into a pistol that your other MP's should be able to hold. The best way to do a megatron (IMO) is to do an action figure that includes a MP scaled pistol for your other figures to hold.
>>6295533
Didn't he have a shit ton of breaking issues?
>>6295689
Seriously. It feels like a huge missed oppertunity to have a cool out there design instead of the pseudo MP it is now.
>>6296086
I'm holding out for FatHobby. I get that the Cross Dimensions is not trying to be MP but there's only going to be room for one PMOP/Ginrai prime for me.
>>6293688
what is that shockwave?
>>6296241
A prototype non transforming DOTM shockwave from the same company.
>>6295849
I have their Scourge and it's a simple figure but it's perfectly done and is probably the nicest-feeling MP-ish figure I have. Really solid and weighty and satisfying to play with. I love it. I haven't bought their monsterbots just cause they're not really characters I feel like I need but I definitely plan on getting their Overlord and Roadbuster.
>>6296100
Is pic on the right any good?
Seen reviews, my main concern is how back heavy he is, looks like the truck top may make shelf spacing difficult.
So in short I'm not worried about him falling over but how big a display he'll have to be in
>>6296611
He strikes me as one of those 'good because there is no proper alternative' toys. Wonder if we will ever see other 3rd party companies tapping into that flavor of Prime. Can you imagine how cool Occular Max Scourge would be?
Thinking of getting feral Rex...yay or nay? Also any sir toys reccomendations?
Maketoys , please just release strike noir already.
>>6296917
>Dat skrull chin...
>>6297011
Does this faceplate look different than the original standard faceplate? I know the skull one is a first release extra, but this one looks slightly retooled maybe. Mouth looks different?
I probably won't get it since the upgraded RotF is good a good enough Bludgeon for me, but I do wish the skull face was the standard face and the IDW chin-made-of-wires look was the extra one. That would make more sense.
>tfw Spartan is in your PoL but you're waiting for Rioter Despotron to come in before you ship
>>6297017
Not skull... SKRULL, like the Marvel aliens, specifically the chin.
>>6296912
looks like they might've changed out the crotch hook for a metal one instead of plastic
Are there any problems with Striker Manus that I should be aware of?
>>6297351
Not really. It's pretty much flawless, straight up one of the best 3P figures
>>6297351
He's super lanky and has pretty much no heel support, so I had a lot of problems with getting mine to stand and hold poses. He's great otherwise and I don't remember a lot of other people mentioning it when he came out, so it might have just been me.
>>6297370
Did you transform the feet properly?
>>6297375
I mean, I know they've got that weird angle to them, there's just not much going on in the back even if they're flat on the ground. That little tab is still pretty much in line with his center of gravity.
>>6296952
Tbh I think Feral Rex is horribly overrated for what is there. If you really like predaking go for it, but otherwise I would shoot for a lot of other combiners first, namely TFC's Poseidon which is 10/10 so far, UT Ordin, Quantron, etc. The engineering of Feral Rex doesn't justify the price tag imo.
>>6297351
His feet are bad if you are retarded and don't fold them properly. The plastic tabs on his knees that pin into the inside of his shins are sometimes too tight and need to be sanded down just a hair. Other than that he's the crown jewel of OC 3rd parties.
>>6296952
It's a $150 dollar toy wrapped in a $500 toy's body.
>>6296952
Yay, it still reigns supreme as one of the best combiners. Even with the improvements of 3p figures over the years since it's release, it still doesn't feel dated.
If you want to save some money the Neoarts KO is very close the the original.
Are there any good 3P Bruticus' out and about?
He's my favourite combiner and I was hoping to get a truly menacing looking one.
I have the CW lot but he's a bit underwhelming.
>>6297661
You have:
>Fansproject Colossus addons for ROTF Bruticus + Shadow fisher addons to the addon
Really drove the third party upgrade kit thing into overdrive but has aged. Probably the sole reason why ROTF Bruticus was snapped up like candy. Probably easy to find with people trading it in for Official/other 3p versions.
>Warbotron
Big and detailed. The arms have gaps and there are individual issues with figures. IIRC there were snapping foot ratchets. The KOs are really good though and if you are at all interested in the look shoot for them. The KO is your cheapest option.
>Microblaze FoC Generations Onslaught and upgrade kits for Bruticus addon
Absolutely gorgeous combined mode and the definition of polishing a turd. However, the Onslaught and addon parts aren't as solid as it should be. Requires ripping figures apart and back again to transform. Plus you still have to deal with 4 of the shittest deluxes conceived.
>Toyworld
MP sized but not MP styled Bruticus. Comes with extra leg parts to form the legs and so far Vortex and Blastoff look like chunky monkeys. Unreleased. >>6294095
>Iron Factory
Looks fucking great but it is at legends scale. Unreleased.
Not really a winner from that lot.
>>6297752
Colossus is still possibly my favorite out of all of them, the whole set is nice. And since CW Bruticus came out, it's gotten somewhat cheap.
>>6297752
When you say Legends scale, do you mean the old size system of smaller figures?
Or do you mean Takara Legends?
Cause i'm not too worried about scaling the figure with other figures.
I saw the Fansproject ones ages ago back when I had no money, but I had no idea about the Shadow Fisher addons as well, might be worth another look.
>>6296952
I have Feral Rex and even though I paid less than half of the cost (Talon's the KO though), he's alright. Not worth anything near the full pricetag, imo.
>>6297933
Tiny figures. They even have a shockwave to go with it.
>>6297661
UW+PE add ons is the only good one.
FP is outdated partsforming trash.
Warbotron is overgreebeled trash.
Toyworld is partsforming trash.
>>6297940
Looks pretty good but I will wait for some reviews and see how it is.
>>6297944
It's a good thing i'm not bothered by greeble or partsforming.
Unless I lose the parts that is.
>>6297944
>Toyworld is partsforming trash
its not even out yet...
>>6297944
Wouldn't the PE add ons count as partsforming?
>>6297963
You can use the hands and feet as guns for the individual figures. His and others beef is when the parts don't do anything except go in storage when not in use.
>Fansproject City Commander
>Maketoys Chaos Paladin
>Maketoys Battle Sentinel
>MP Starsaber with KFC Simba
Guys I think I have a fetish for robots that augment themselves or power up somehow.
Robots inside bigger robots. Power armor. Combiners.
Probably also explains why I got GT Gravity Builder and MMC Nero Rex. Also why I've bought so many Titans Return figures.
Any other similar 3p figures or addons I should look into? I'm already eyeing the Fansproject Protector armor, a shop in my area has it complete with the Classics figure. They also have the Parralax Prime upgrade kit with the figure.
>>6297981
Also should note I'm not really looking for more headmasters.
The official stuff is scratching that itch just fine for me.
Whoa what the fuck where did this come from
This looks really cool, plus the altmode kinda resembles Samus' ship.
>>6297948
Iron Factory so far has been pretty top notch with quality. However, they only make Legends sized figures. That means they generally top out around 4 inches or so. So this Bruticus they're making probably won't end up bigger than a Voyager figure, or at most, a Leader.
>>6297961
doesn't need to be out for me to tell that they were lazy with making it actually combine properly instead of partsforming.
>>6298124
Not really concerned with size so long as it is a good looking Bruticus (Which it looks like it will be, just need to see some colours and probably some reviews on the figures itself), and it doesn't break really easily.
As it stands it looks like Iron Factory will be the way to go.
>>6298137
Well, it's probably going to be a while before Bruticus is out. Most 3P's aren't really known for speed, when it comes to releases.
>>6298141
I got nothing but time.
>>6298142
Alright, just letting you know it'll probably be a while before anything comes out. I don't even think we've seen Brawl and Swindle in color yet.
>>6298153
Thanks for the heads up though, i'll definitely keep an eye out.
>>6298124
speaking of IF
goddamn!
>>6298246
Really wish they just did all 3 Seekers in one box set.
>>6298137
also a word of advice on IF toys, the joints are tight, sometimes too tight
you might need some shock oil to loosen them up
>>6298246
getting some major devastation vibes here
>>6298249
>>6298246
>>6297995
These look so bland, I might buy that Goldbug if/when it goes on sale for $20 or less.
>>6297944
The official toy is a cheap mcdonalds toy for children and also partsforms the handsn feetn and head/backcannons depending on which upgrades you got. There's always some delusional peasent who likes to pretend their cheap garbage is in the same league as our mature adult collectables.
>>6298130
Those extra parts makes the combined mode look as good as it does while not crippling the individual toys. It's honestly the best method to replicate the mass shifting most combiners did in the show.
>>6297995
YELLOW AND GREEN VERSIONS WHEN!? I want him!!!
So does this guy suck? Convince me not to buy it!
>>6298423
No buy mp Magnus or takara generations Magnus.
>>6298423
>Convince me not to buy it!
It's got the mark of the beast
>>6298408
Yeah, honestly combiners are the one thing where partsforming really doesn't bother me. The animations always cheat anyway. Ideally though I would prefer if the extra parts could do /something/ in the other modes. I really like how FP's Bruticus add ons form weapons and a launch pad for Blast Off.
>>6298475
Honestly the lack of the Constructor arms/crotch/head becoming some sort of construction equipment or battlestation is the parts only weakness. Partsforming is the smartest way to avoid making everything needlessly complex or shitty looking.
I hope Fans Toy's Devastator partsforms.
>>6298423
>Convince me not to buy it!
Are you blind?
>>6295835
BBTS has him in stock
>>6298671
So what is this blurry pic? Is that Not-Getaway and Not...I dunno. Shit. So many stumpy, fat dorf-like TF's out there. Brawn? That short fat guy from the Wreckers?
>>6298656
Pulled the trigger and got him AND the upgrade.
>>6298677
Reformatted Guzzle and Getaway.
>>6298247
They're not? That's great news. Ended up selling all Datsuns minus Prowl.
>>6298775
Which company is this Devestator?
>>6298795
toyworld dev v2 box set.
Does anyone here have the iron factory tactical staff set? I think they look pretty good, but reviews don't show the full range of ankle articulation. There looks to be a hinged ball joint but I only ever see it turned like 30°.
>>6298828
if I don't forget I can maybe take a pic showing the full range tonight after work
>>6298828
The Datsuns? Mine can get out to 45 degrees which is enough for poses you want to put them into.
>>6298775
>Partsform the arms so you don't have to compromise aesthetics
>The arms are still too long anyway
HOW DO YOU FUCK THIS UP
>>6298831
Yoo, I'd really appreciate that!
>>6298843
Okay, that's pretty impressive for that scale.
>>6298931
To me it looks more like his legs aren't long enough. Peoples arms usually come down to about their hips, near where Devy's is. Problem is, he's got manlet legs. They should be much longer.
>>6298931
Arms don't look too long at all?
>>6298423
I bought the Powered Convoy / Shattered Glass Ultra Magnus version and frankly: just do it. I like it.
>>6298775
It looks so bad...
I would have thought with that much parts forming they could have made him look decent.
>>6296804
>>6296820
>He strikes me as one of those 'good because there is no proper alternative' toys.
Have you had him in hand? Its a pretty cool figure. I had my quibbles with the dull alt-mode(It could be more polished and realistic, and they are fixing it a little for the G2 release) and I think the head doesn't look evil enough, but otherwise its a really solid figure.
>>6298956
Much like with MP 10 ya only notice it when their at his side. Pose him or just bend the elbows you won't notice. Also the should can go up higher hinders articulation.
>>6299002
>>6298999
Hands should reach the mid to upper thigh when relaxed and to the side. Constructor's hands reach his knees.
>>6298423
My thing is vehicle modes and body proportions. The only thing I like about stack over real Magnus is the legs, but the vehicle mode... Those rear wheels on the cab sadden me
>>6298475
>Ideally though I would prefer if the extra parts could do /something/ in the other modes.
Not him but I agree. Partsforming is pretty much the only way to achieve a robot formed of 5-6 smaller robots that is well-articulated, poseable and accurate to the source materiel for those who care.
But if having a static crotch-piece means also having a Longhaul that is not essentially; a giant crotch with gimped limbs like the CW/UV toy then I'll gladly take it.
I'm excited to see the rest of TW's Combaticons the CW version was a decent (for the price) toy, but the combined mode doesn't do mutch outside of stand around and look kinda cool.
IF War Giant looks neat but I don't think I'm down for the legends scale. I'll wait for colour shots.
>>6299004
>super chunky
>some places even bloated
>ugly truck
>faux back along side real parts???
>>6299008
>opinions are bait
>>6298423
The heads tend to be awful, and he does movie jazz impressions often. For under $70 us, go ahead, but expect sub MP quality.
