FMA was the first anime I really got into and FMA brotherhood still remains one of my favorite shows of all time. I recently did a bunch of freelance jobs along side my normal job to raise money for it, I had the money. But the day before I get the last payment my cat knocks my microphone off my desk and I had to buy a new one with the hard earned money.

Hot take time, but I got one three or four years back and I couldn't stand him. The whole thing with his shoulders not clipping in properly really sucked, and he fell over all the fucking time. A potentially good mold ruined by shitty QC, I guess.

I had that one for a while, you can just pop the grill off. It doesn't even look bad without it, everything's black on black so the gap doesn't stick out.

you can still get it for about 300 shipped SEALED from that british website that had a lot of extra stock from their con after botcon last year.

they still go for about 250ish shipped on ebay, as recently as last week.

not the MSRP, no, but reasonable given the limited supply and demand.

If you have a friend with one that can recast the head, some chinese seller on ebay has 3 of the bodies sealed, but if you look at the pics closely, there is no head - for 260 shipped.com

The last frontier. I have Batman, just need his ride. I hope to buy it sometime this summer.
There's afew others, but they're more within my grasp. nothing I want is really hard to find; its just finding them at a good price.

I'll probably be done with my collection for the most part by next year. I'll still buy, but unless something unprecedented happens like a Yu yu Hakusho line or Hot Toys Mighty Morphin Power Rangers or something. As far as things that are more likely to exist, I'm buying any and every Masterpiece Beast wars figure they make.

The frog monster is a custom.
Unfortunately, Mezco only made two waves of the comic-based Hellboy line, so there are a lot of characters that we are not going to see as figures. At least we have the BPRD team.
Though I hate that instead of Azzael, Rasputin, Baba Yaga, Black Flame, Hecate or Kroenen, they chose to make a thousand Hellboy variations and a random alien.

Aaaaand here is the fag who wants to argue semantics over what a Grail is. We have this argument every fucking Grail thread.

A Grail is whatever thing you want over all offers but for some reason you cannot find or obtain. It can be as simple as finding it at all to finding for a price that won't force you to put your organs on the black market to pay for them.

My Grail is Nendo Neptune but you can't find her for less than $200 anywhere and I'm always worried about eBay bootlegs so fuck that.

I'm just glad I already got what would otherwise be my big grail, Genocider, when I first got into Figuarts a couple of years ago when the conversion rate was more favorable. Now I'm facing the prospect of paying about as much for Knight as I did for Genocider were I to buy him now. Mehhhhhh.
>>

Watch Mandarake for them. They usually go up for about $25 more than price+shipping initially was, because Sentinel made everyone outside of Japan pay for $30 EMS shipping.

I really want to start a Ryuki collection since it is my favorite Rider series and Zolda is one of my favorite tokusatsu characters but it is such a money pit and every toku Figuart I have bought has ranged from shitty to mediocre.
>>
>>6303319
What figuarts have you bought anon?
Alot of the line pre-Fourze stuff in general was pretty meh at best for the line as a whole. Maybe more pre-gaim really.
Ryuki should be getting SHFSS stuff in a few years at most so honestly I'd just wait overall, the Ryuki stuff is from the early days of the line and it really shows.

Hyper Kabuto, Shinken Gold, and Shinken Red.
All pretty old releases from when I first started my collection.
I actually really liked Red but one day I picked him up and his leg fell off for no reason.
>>
>>6303360
Oh god, the Shinkenger stuff had horrible QC. I hear that goes for most Sentai stuff actually, poor line was doomed from the start really. Outside of like, a handful of cases like SHF Phasma QC issues like that are a thing of the past really.
And the Kabuto stuff was just, awful in retrospect. Passable for the time but with the SHFSS stuff, so long as you can grab them for a good price they're perfect outside of the weird figma 1.0 hand system.
If your a fan I recommend the SHFSS Agito, he should still be pretty cheap and is a good example of what the figuarts line is now, while light on effect parts. And what to hopefully look forward to with SHFSS Ryuki, whenever that happens.
>>
>>6303319
Can relate. I originally was just buying up the figmas since I didn't want to see my wallet go up in flames trying to get the figuarts, but I eventually got Abyss as a gift and there was no turning back.

I've got all of them except for Knight, Odin, Tiger, Alternative and the Survives+their monsters (and the Ride Shooter and Blank Ryuki, though I don't know if I even want those), and while it cost an arm and a leg to get to this point I feel like it was money well spent. They're very solid figures. Definitely a daunting thing to get into though.

>>6303328
I honestly don't think they show their age too much. Their proportions aren't as good as more recent sculpts and some of them have inaccurate colors, but overall they're still top notch figures and they hold up very well, at least in my opinion. They were very much the precursors to the modern benchmarks like Gaim, and they come with a bunch of cool shit you just don't see them doing these days, like the personalized stands. Not to mention their monsters.

If you can't afford something you can't get it easily, unless you're just gonna smash a window and grab at it or something.

The internet makes actual grails being impossible to get, well, impossible. Anything is there..for a price. Rotting on an eBay or Amazon listing for hundreds, but its there.
>>
>>6304312
Grails are supposed to be something you can't find easily, not something you can't afford. You know, like the Holy Grail in Arthurian mythology, hence the name.

The term you're looking for is "white whale".
>>
>>6304321
>The internet makes actual grails being impossible to get, well, impossible. Anything is there..for a price.

It makes it way easier to find most things for sure, but not everything. Try looking for some garage kits or old and/or really limited shit, not even Ebay or other second-hand stores can help most of the time until you luck out after years of searching. Those are what really deserve to be called a "grail", not something you can easily find but just can't afford.
>>
>>6304321

Some things might as well be impossible to find even on the net. People in other threads have been looking for obscure garage kits and other weird shit for years and never found it.

He's nice overall, but yeah, that's my biggest problem with him. Part of it is just his design of having no heels and a heavy piece hanging off the back of his head, but he's also got slightly loose joints.

I honestly think the problem is the design of the ankle joints. They pop out ridiculously easy and are hard to pop back in, and the floating ankle piece just contributes to the annoyance. The ankles are rather loose too, that doesn't help any.

You can see on the original Funny Bunny garage kit (which Sentinel purchased and modified) that the ankles were originally meant for big sturdy swivel-hinge or true ball joints (look at the foot cup). Sentinel fucked up pretty bad replacing that with their shit ankle setup.

I had this briefly, it's not really that great a figure. It's way too heavy, the neck pops off way too easily, and the wings are made of latex which splits and cracks way too easily.

That said it IS ridiculously detailed and has tons of presence.

Got the inverse happening with the ride ready and waiting, but I keep dragging my feet on getting a Keaton Bats.

Might know this already, but just in case, there was an issue with scratching happening on the canopy; and body section it slides away from on some. Seemed to be caused by the shields accessory during transit, so if you get one that you can't inspect before buying; make sure you give it a look over once(or if) you get it.

>>6294578
My situation now really, have/had some things that can be considered grail-worthy; but supremely lucked out that I was just able to pace myself with budgeting to get most of them when as they were released.

Only true grail I've ever had was the Project BM! 1/6 Kamen Rider FangJoker figure, was just a wait of almost two years to finally get. Though to be honest, was actually hoping for something like >>6294187 to happen. As maybe a year after getting FangJoker, Medicom started releasing RAH DX(basically improved or 2.0 reissues) figures for the Kamen Rider W series; but for some reason stopped just short of FangJoker and W's melee and ranged focused forms...

>>6305518
Damn can I understand this. Originally pre-ordered mine from a middleman(who'd turn into a good friend) in Japan for a great price so he could round out a full order and not be stuck holding onto one of these in every-foot-is-prime-real-estate Japan.
Backfired fucking hard when Japan Post, UPS, and even Fedex(well the JP branches we could get to) refused to ship it due to the box exceeding the allowable dimensions for luxury consumer goods shipping internationally.

The guilt was horrible even after the middleman found a buyer four months later, no matter what he tried to convince me with afterwards.

I understand that it can be hard to translate low-poly graphics into a realistic style, but IMO they really fucked up here. I was actually surprised this was sanctioned by Rockstar, since it reminds me of one of those unlicensed 1/6 figures that only looks vaguely like the source character.

Face and hair are entirely wrong for Claude, his face shape should be more gaunt and pinched and his eyes more tired and squinty looking. Jacket looks kind of bad but I don't really know how to improve that one at this scale. Pants should be more saturated green. The shoes are just entirely wrong and it throws off the entire outfit IMO--why this bright blue? Claude wears what appear to be black/charcoal grey Nikes with a gold swoosh. For a commemorative figure of such an iconic game, you'd think they'd try harder...this honestly looks like a custom someone scrounged up from their 1/6 parts bin.

I built a stand for mine (out of old Bionicle parts) today, because I was under the impression that he didn't come with one since I got him secondhand. An hour or so after I finished the stand, I found the official one taped to the inside of the clamshell packaging, or whatever it's called packaging. I'm proud of my stand, though. >>
>>6311868
How are they jews when you're the one who's too cheap to buy it at MSRP?

Because:

1) It's MSRP totally overpriced to start with, $83 for a base figure with zero accessories and noted qc issues.

2) I live in Canada and the only option is to import it from America, meaning I'd have to deal with the abysmal exchange rate + shipping. So about $135 for a bare-bones toy.

>>6327290
>pay $450 on mandrake
>toy gets seized at customs because it's a 44 magnum

I've seen that listing before, but I'm still holding out hope for an American seller. If I can't find one for a similar price I might take the risk eventually.
>>
>>6327256
I think it actually looks okay aside from the fact that his shoulders/chest look too broad. If you cover up his legs, they still look too broad, and if I cover up his torso his legs look fine with the head.
>>
>>6310396
I havent bought the ed yet because I'm not in the financial situation to go spending over 100 on one toy. I can afford to buy some stuff when I take freelance jobs on the side, but I normally am a too busy to take them and don't want to cut into savings and living expenses.

I hope that changes when you get him in hand, OP.
I got Hibiki along with Decade for really good prices, so my excitement went from 0 to about 100 in anticipation. Going off that roommate remark going to guess you weren't as lucky, sorry OP. But still, here's hoping that joy comes back to you once you have it in hand.
>>
>>6327639
Since they're garage kits from 2009-11 when they do show up which is rare, they go for quite alot.
You'd be looking at 300 at the least for one, Anon.
Ontop of having to stalk ebay, yahoo auctions japan, and mandrake.

The Sentinel figures are very good, aside from the not-so-great ankle joints.
>mass release
It happened. Twice. Once in the early 00s by Kaiyodo and Xebec, and then again by Sentinel. And the Sentinel ones got reissued even. All of the FLCL toys were normal-ass mass market releases. Heck, you could even find the Kaiyodo ones in local comic shops back in the day.

Sure, I'd love even more FLCL toys, like that supposed Sentinel Haruko and staction figure Naota, but what we got ain't bad.

>Too expensive new
>Too many issues to comfortably buy used

MP09 is always going to be my favorite Hot Rod but it just isn't worth buying from what I've seen. I live for the day where Takara does a fixed rerelease of this, it's not even like the problems are unfixable.

It's also annoying that basically every other Hot Rod toy being made is strictly Hot Rod. I really appreciate MP09 for focusing mainly on being Rodimus Prime
>>
>>6331766
What's most annoying is this fucker is the whole reason for reorganizing the MP line as it is and now they're trying to burry it . Rodimus came out and everyone went, oh shit, Mp-01 looks so off next to him aesthetically and is too big, so we got MP-10, and from there, the rest of the more focussed MP line. Though, I'm sure some are calling for a whole new Rodimus now, too.

>inb4 S.H. Shit Godzilla
I understand the first one had all kinds of fucking QC flaws to the point that buying one pretty much guaranteed sloppy paint apps. I have hope for this next release to be better because goddamnit Shin is my absolute favorite Godzilla design of all time. It's mcfuckhuge, purple, AND comes with effect parts. The price is so fucking high though and now that I haven't preordered it, it's going to be even fucking higher. I would've preordered if I didn't have to drop the money immediately. I am doomed to a possible $250 purchase that might still be QC-riddled? If I do actually get into the military like I plan, mark my words this is the first fucking thing I'm getting with my paycheck unless it's over 300 clown dollars
>>
>>6334037
It is overwhelming likely that it will be over $300 in the aftermarket.

The sideshow Mythos statue are amazing. I have the Vader and it's one of the best I've ever seen. I've wanted that Ben Kenobi forever but it's about $1,000 on the aftermarket

I used to own Vile, sometimes i regret selling him, and pine for owning him. But then I rememebr how shitty he felt in hand, how tight his joints were, how the paint dulled on the midsection. Lots of nice bonuses and hands, but I'd kill for a better version.

He's like the bastard child of the og and maverick hunter designs.
