Anyone else excited about this release!?

http://tamashii.jp/special/daizyujin/en/index.html

>>
Yes.
>>
>>6277589
Got it ordered. Not really excited though.
>>
I would be if I could actually get a Japanese pre-order in. At any rate, while this looks spectacular, I'm so tired of daizyujin saturation that while this is probably a great figure I'll eventually own, it doesn't feel as exciting.
>>
>>6277589
Extremely. Got my money ready and waiting for him to hit US shores. It's supposed to be out this month. I did read somewhere that it's June-July now so well have to see. There are YouTube reviews so it should be any time now.
>>
>>6277608
You BBTS cucks gotta wait until July HAHA.
>>
>>6277607
I preordered mine from Rakuten Yellow submarine. The only place I could find it other than waiting another month for the NA release.
>>
>>6277608
I know right? I understand that some people are Daizyujin'd out, but this is gonna be my first power ranger toy/figure since I was a kid. Not a huge figure collector, but if they were to release Dragonzord after this, it would be epic.
>>
>>6277626
I wonder if its better or worse for me or you; me who has been collecting the Figuarts/Legacy stuff for a while and thus feels like this is a mandatory purchase rather than pure enjoyment, or you, who will probably want to go through the (expensive) backlog of MMPR releases.

There's a link to a pictorial review in the op.

>>touch and try videos when

Also shame they didn't paint the pink zord vents or fix the colors on the mastodon. Chogokins are supposed to be "perfect" but that doesn't match either the toy or the show. Also it's very...chromey? I guess that's good if you like shiny.
>>
>>6277769
I see that bub, thanks, but I was replying to a guy who mentioned Youtube reviews. That's what I'm looking for. I want to see this thing in action before I decide.

It looks good, but the articulated hands are kinda lame–and there should be multiple sets provided with different poses.

Also the poseability looks a little limited. Should have thigh or knee rotation and better ankle rockers.
>>
>>6278202

It has thigh rotation. Look at OP's image. You can see it.
>>
>>6278202
It's a SOC. They usually sacrifice some of the articulation for the transformation. It looks like Daizyujin only has ball jointed hips, so it will be limited.

If it is poseability you want, go for the SRC and if you want both poseability and transformation, go for the Super Minipla.
>>
>>6278303
Have the SRC, and it's really cool, but a little stylized and not as majestic/impressive as this beat beastie.

>>6278311
Go for the super minipla. Obviously it won't be as well painted as the promo shot or the chogokin, and since its a model kit you need to be super careful with it, but its more poseable than the big Chogokin and it combines unlike the SRC.

>>

thanks for the advice but I'm interested in the metal heft and high end nature of the SOC, I just wish it had a little bit more articulation/range of movement, and some better hands.
>>
Ugh I want the SOC but I'm not really willing to shell out $300 for it. Sometimes life is suffering.
>>
>>6278202
Not exactly what you're looking for but here are a couple of dengeki presentations where they play around with the figures a bit

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3Wo2c3IW6vY&t=7h40m03s

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vWQ8n9o8Zgo&t=23m38s
>>
>>6278329
>and it combines

It cheats a lot, you need to remove the tyrannosaurus head and neck and place them inside the chest without attaching them to anything, and also split the legs in half, extend a hidden ball joint and reattach to give it ankle joints.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0PiSTz2G0AU

The knees also look wrong like the ones from the shitty Legacy version and the individual mecha articulation is worse than the SoC. The proportions are way wonkier, too.

That thing is not a good substitute for the SoC in any way possible.

Not really, the tyrannosaurus knee being exposed makes it look weird.

But I don't think there's a better way to add knee joint to that design, I'll take that over limited knee articulation any day.
>>
>>6285782
>>6285786
Weirdly, the chrominess of the metal makes this look cheap and expensive at the same time to me.

How tall is this fucker anyway? I was gonna pass because I'm pretty poor lately, but...I'm feeling kinda tempted. Maybe I can sell some toys for it.

I think it's only due to it being double jointed.

As long as they are not apparent when he is standing straight, it's not really an issue.
>>
>>6285832
It's almost the exact same size as the original toy. And chrome will do that. It's fine when used sparingly and this thing is treading that line. It's obvious they're just remaking the original Megazord toy, but I would have preferred silver paint. Especially on the sword I actually really dislike how the sword looks.
>>
I'm excited but can't afford him so looks like I'll miss out. I'm not familiar with SOG, am I SOL if I don't buy it on release?

A tad smaller.
>>
>>6285847
I'd say there is 80% chance they'll make a SOC Dragonzord (95% if Megazord is successful) and if they do, they will reissue the SOC Megazord with it.

Same with when they'll do SOC Titanus (50% chance of happening).
>>
>>6285846
>>6285850
Okay, I never owned the original though. So how tall is that in inches?
>>
What parts are usually diecast on these things anyway?
It might be fine if it's hidden and as far as possible from anything that could put any pressure on joints.

>>
>>6285879
See what? A bunch of speculation and statistics that you pulled out your ass?

I think we will be able to determine the likelyhood of a dragonzord by checking the Megazord for combination ports
>>
>>6285841
>I think it's only due to it being double jointed.

Doesn't look double jointed to me. It's just that the tyrannosaurus knee attaches over the Megazord knee joint mechanism. Would look better if the Megazord knee joint axis was actually placed at the center of the tyrannosaurus knee, but I guess that would limit the articulation range.

Not a deal breaker anyways.
>>
>>6285894
>I think we will be able to determine the likelyhood of a dragonzord by checking the Megazord for combination ports

The Megazord never had combination ports for the Dragonzord, every connection used is already here for Megazord mode or is added by the Dragonzord. We can't determine anything even if there are no ports.

I agree about the speculation and bullshit statistics part though.
>>
>>6285916
>>6285894

It looks like there's a few holes on the Pterodactyl that are in the same place as the ones used for the Titanus chest piece. I'd assume they thought ahead for at least a Dragonzord.
>>
If they make the Dragonzord, I reallly hope they can manage to make the lance be able to be hold with both hand and be foldable whole into the chest piece without need of additional pieces.
>>
>>6285981
>It looks like there's a few holes on the Pterodactyl that are in the same place as the ones used for the Titanus chest piece

Those are to attach the pterodactyl to the mastodon legs when in tank mode. They repurposed them as attachment points for Titanus chest plate back in the day.
>>
>>6285832
>the chrominess of the metal makes this look cheap and expensive at the same time to me.

Yeah, it looks too shiny. I mean, those like cheaper half-combining budget Megazords also had a lot of chrome parts too. Painted silver like on the SRC always looks classier IMO.
>>
>>6285988
I can see them implementing it, not putting in electronics in the core torso section so there's space for the bottom of the lance/connection to the lance handle as well as a telescoping lance handle. As well a swappable, non telescoping handle for better stability.
>>
>>6286026
The bottom of the lance could fit nicely between the tail and the ass of the dragon, just sandwiched between the couplings.
>>

I mean, sure, if you want your joints destroyed because of the metal, your paint chipped, and things to otherwise be completely unfixable, sure, you could get diecast.

Or you could just use plastic and have none of those issues ever due to the material.

So much for Golden Week putting a halt on shipping, Amiami shipped mine out. That surprised me.

I gotta admit, I am slightly taken aback by the size, not in a negative way, but coming off GoLion/Voltron(which I know was uncharacteristically large), it oes feel a bit surprising. But its a good thing, I'm getting tight on space. It also make me wonder if there's a reason for keeping it at the size, namely to keep prices for any further combination pieces reasonable.

A new Dragonzord is basically a given, but I'm wondering what they'd do for Titanus. I just cant' see them putting in the cost for a full-on Chogokin version; it'd be insanely pricey and Titanus has always been a slow seller. What I think they might do is just retool a prior Titanus mold and release it outside the "proper" SoC line, and a Super sentai artisan X Chogokin release. I was thinking the Legacy one , but maybe even the old DX King Brachion mold might work. I used to think Bandai didn't have access to the old 90's DX molds(to the point where I think I accidentally started a rumor that the molds where lost), but the SSA release of the 90's DX Dairen'Oh shows that isn't true.

Now that's what I wanted to see since I first knew the size of it. So it does work with the Legacy release after all. I suggested the old dX because I thought it'd need the slightly bigger space. I doubt the Legacy Dragonzord would fit, though I am curious if the LDZ could pull off combining with Triceratops, Sabertooth tiger, and mastodon for Gouryuuzin
>>
>>6303729
No I goofed, I caught the Dragonzord's chestplate on Titanius and immediately thought they were the Legacy toys but I'm pretty sure these are both DX Dragonzord and Titanus it's "combined" with.

Nothing's actually locked into place here. Definitely don't think a Gouryujin combination is possible because none of the tabs and connectors will be compatible.

Nah, I think you where right on calling it the Legacy Titanus. If you look at the Japanese DX release, there's differences in the figure from what you see in the pic. Immediately the red/black squares on the arms stood out, but also gold paint over chrome. But yeah, it won't fit other pieces like the chest plate or arm gauntlets, but those could be retooled.

It might actually be of good omen, if you think about it. him being smaller means that they consider making Titanus hence the smaller size to make Titanus itself not too big.

Little small wheels under fake threads would have been enough, but they didn't even do that.

Yeah, but the triceratops thread are tiny as fuck compared to the ones DrillGao has. You can't really make those in plastic unless you want them to break inmediately.

Yeah, that's exactly what they did on the original DX toy.

Is it true the wheels of the saberthoth tiger don't turn?

can you take pic of how the knee articulations actually work?
>>
>>6308133

It's true that the tyrannosaurus chest doesn't clip when closed?

Is the pteranodon only attached to the two sides of the chest? Is it secure enough? The original clipped at the waist too.
>>
>>6308133
Though I doubt the head will fit, can you try mounting Legacy Dragonzord over it
>>
Is HLJ the cheapest option for it right now? Kirin Hobby is terrible and they tend to take too long to ship shit out.

The wheels are all molded on, same with Triceratops treads.

The articulation for the knee is in a hinge inside triceratops and saber tooth.

there is a small clip but it's not crazy tight. no issues with it opening up or leaving a gap though. I assume cause the chest piece is cast iron.

There's a clip on waist in the middle and it's no where as loose as in that video.
>>
>>6308329
I don't have a Legacy Dragonzord but you can probably refer to >>6303707 to see how it fits.
Seems like it just kinda sits there.
>>
>>6308501
>>6306997
>>6307054

I didn't even own the figure yet and still can tell he mistransformed several things, like having one of the t-rex shin guards open and leaving the sides of the triceratops collapsed. And you can be sure I'm not going to try moving things the unintended way, force shit like he does when he tries to separate the hips for tank mode when the sliding joints are actually placed on the thighs or have things fall off like he does with the shield.

The guy is a hamhands, sucks at understanding intructions and is not careful enough. There's no fucking excuse, this is a full-painted, expensive figure that should be handled more carefully.
>>
>>6308603

>>

>I'm sorry I thought this was an SOC....

Everyone puts SOC on a pedestal but most of the higher-end Tamashii products are all of the same quality these days, for better or worse.
>>
>>6308661
The fucking threads off Gaogaigar work there is literally no excuse for this.
>>
>>6308665
The GGG threads are way bigger, you can't really make plastic thread links the size of the Triceratops ones, the connetions will break for sure. They should have used rubber threads (like they always did before) or just wheels under fake threads like the DX toy.
>>
>>6308681
I'm just saying its slightly disappointing.

Don't get me wrong everything else is worth the price of admission and I still have it ordered at HLJ.
>>
>>6308690
>I'm just saying its slightly disappointing.

Of course it's dissapointing, I never said otherwise. It actually baffles me that we're getting a SoC release with fake wheels, never I would have expected that until now.

I'm going to enjoy the figure nonetheless, but the lack of one of the most easy to replicate gimmicks of the original toy sucks.
>>
HLJ has it on low stock.

If you want it now for 240+ shipping you might want to order tha shit up now.
>>
>>6308765
Now its discontinued.
>>
>>6308703
>It actually baffles me that we're getting a SoC release with fake wheels
>>6308665
>>6308690

I mean for what it's worth they still left some details unpainted (pterodactyl vents) or the wrong color (trunk top). Also the chrome chest plate without the lines drawn on looks weird. I get that it's in between the original toy and the show model, but some details match neither of them. Then you have the lack of moving wheels.

Conceptually it's a little odd but ultimately I love the original toy so a better version of it is alright with me.
>>
Shit, so is Kirin Hobby the only option now?
>>
>>6310404
Yeah it is. It went on and off in stock at HLJ but I'm pretty sure its gone now.

Kirin Hobby is kinda ass by the way so good luck but its the only real option right now other than Thechosenprime which is retail 300.
>>
>>6310411
How exactly is it ass? Like "I should probably pay for the insurance because I might need it" ass, or just slow shipping or something?
>>
>>6310450
They've flaked on some items I've pre ordered in the past ass.

They're also incredibly slow much more than HLJ and that says a lot.
>>
>>6310507
Well, fuck. Should I just wait for it to come out and hope to grab one on hlj or amazon or something? I was planning to buy it on amazon first anyway, but it's "currently not available" now
>>
>>6310540
I'd recommend thechosenprime honestly they're service is top notch and the shipping is free.
>>
>>6310404
>>6310411
why don't you guys just go with BBTS? it's 300 there as well and cheap shipping.
>>
>>6311454
I'd still say go with Thechosenprime as its free shipping and they usually ship the same day its released.

It was my go to unless I bumped into it at the convention this month. Fortunately HLJ had a few in stock and got my order in.

I just gotta get through Golden week for the item to ship.
>>
>>6311461
Just preordered via The Chosen Prime. Hope this goes well, as it's by far the most expensive toy purchase I've made yet, being still at the peak of the slippery slope. The most expensive things I've gotten so far have been Legacy Ninja Megazord and the new movie combining Megazord, so I fear dropping $300 on this will start a trend for me of spending however much is necessary on any other Megazord.

I chose the option that seemed like I would not be billed until release date or ship date (whichever it is). How does this usually work for The Chosen Prime? The website says the Megazord is expected to release this month, whereas Amazon had it as a June release, so am I getting the Japanese version released a bit later from its original date, or an early American version?
>>
>>6312052
Don't worry I've been doing business with them for awhile and their customer service is top notch.

Like I said if I didn't miss out on the HLJ situation they would be my go to vendors to buy from.
>>
>>6312052
They got Voltron about three weeks after the Japanese release which is normal. I lucked up ordering with toy dojo way back in Dec. They had an early bird PO and he came out to be what he would have been had I got him straight from Japan with EMS shipping.
>>
>>6312080
My only issue, aside from using a retailer I'm unfamiliar with, is that they don't seem to offer much other toys I'm interested in, other than complete sets of Marvel Legends for cheaper prices than BigBadToyStore. Like, I can order the Transformers from The Last Knight, but I can just head over to TRU for those. I guess I just need to search a little more
>>
>>6312097
They have a nice point system that you can use for future purchases.

Think you should at least get 10-15 bucks off your next purchase thanks to the Megazord.
>>
>>6312111
Yeah I think it was $10 for every $150 or something. I only glanced at it though

>tfw you will never willingly want to pay $4000 for MIB oldschool Transformers
>>
Wotafa's review.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SM5IUwTyfCs

He doesn't seem to know that the knees can move in combined mode.
>>
>>6313010
I think I see why they omitted the rolling wheels, they'd have to give the tyranozord deployable wheels or the feet would get scratched to hell. I mean, it's quite amazing that they didn't, considering how much SoCs used to do to replicate everything from the show and the original toy, but I guess japanese economy simply isn't the same.
>>
>>6313735
Flipping wheels in the feet could have been a solution. The tail has a flipping lpost for the robot mode, after all.

As for the triceratops, there could have been a way to let the Trheads look intact without wheels protubering by simply having wwheel on his center body that would only make cotact with the ground once the threads are retracted.

As for the Sabertooth, simply make the wheels turn.
>>
Is there an interview where they explain why they didn't go with actual wheels?
>>
>>6314715
I don't think there really is one other than pure laziness.

Since its also getting a stateside release for gaijins its probably to lower down the quality control issues or ham handling a simple wheel.
>>
Anyone find a way to rip the Mammoth's head off of its body that doesn't feel sketchy as fuck? Those to little tabs at the top don't look like they'll hold up over time.
>>
>>6314715
>>6314727
I say it was a cost cutting feature. This was a pretty bare bones release by SOC standards esp compared to Voltron.
>>
>>6315173
>Anyone find a way to rip the Mammoth's head off of its body that doesn't feel sketchy as fuck? Those to little tabs at the top don't look like they'll hold up over time.

Fuuuu. Does it just use the same kind of tabs as the original Megazord? The "sockets" always seem like they're going to break at any second.
>>
>>6315173
>>6315200

If they're a good as the original DX toy there's nothing to be worried about, the ones on mine are perfectly fine after 23 years and I transformed the thing dozens of times when I was a kid.
>>
>>6315200
>>6315206
They're a lot thinner and don't have the support structure the original had. They're basically thin strips of plastic with a tooth at the end. You have to use a shit ton more force than is comfortable to get it off unless I'm completely missing something.
