So glad I never got into GI Joe and was transformers only. Those playsets were fucking seriously expensive back in the day and even more now on eBay compared to transformers.

I only ever wanted the original Optimus Prime and never got him, thank God there are so many options now

Did you guys buy any of those holy grails as an adult?
I did buy a lot of my childhood holy grails. I recently bought a My Pet Monster, because I never had one and always wanted it. I was surprised to see how big it actually is. One foot is damaged a little, the faux leather is flaking off as it usually happens with this figure. Also he kinda smelled bad, he was probably in a storage for a long time. I washed it but still kinda smells like old plastic. After having him for about a day regret hit me. I spent a lot of money on him and he really just didn't fill the hole in my soul.
>>
Reading this thread makes me really grateful for my parents. They weren't rich by any means but I can't honestly think of a single thing I wanted growing up that I didn't have.

Going to give mum a call right now.
>>
>>6275615
Sweet.
I grew up in a strict household, when I didn't get something it usually wasn't a money issue. Still one Christmas we had very few toys, like maybe one plushie each (my sis and me) and some clothes we needed. I was about 8 or 9 that year. I remember my mom pulling us close in a hug and explaining that we had a rough year and hopefully next year will be better. I felt like such a big boy for understanding this and I assured her I was really happy for my toy that I got. I'll never forget this memory, it was so bittersweet.
>>
>>6275603
Pretty soon I'll own a G1 Overlord.
>>
>>6275121

>>

You filthy whore. I found a complete whatever the bad guys helicoptor/jet thing was called at a yard sale, spent 30m rummaging through boxes to find all the parts. Felt good senpai
>>
>>6275632
I own it, he's awesome. Eurofag here, so he was actually out in the stores when I was a kid but he was insanely expensive.
Managed to snag him for a good pirce too. Only downside is that he ignited my love for G1 again and now I collected a huge amount of G1 transformers and my room looks like I'm a robot hoarder or something.
>>
>>6275474
>Micro Machines Military
>it's just an ordinary car park
I still have all of my childhood Micro Machine sets but they're pretty beat up and I think all but one of them is missing accessories. The Super Van City doesn't seem to be expensive, just finding one that's complete and not discoloured seems to be impossible. Not even because they're too expensive, I just haven't seen a single one like that on ebay, barring the Italian one.

>>6275603
>Did you guys buy any of those holy grails as an adult?
G1 Scorponok and G1 Fort Max.

I'm not sure they count because I never once thought I could actually afford either one some day.

I loved figures that had removable and interchangeable parts and outfits, and I loved Spider-man so this was basically the perfect toy for me.

I'm sorry anon, but that just made my day. Someone post the picture of the Saber 2.0 anon.
>>
>>6275739
I was furious at the time since everything I did was based on the premise that there was no fucking way Takara would reissue a 2-foot tall robot, but I've made my peace with it now.

I have my G1 FM sitting in a plastic case, and maybe in 30 years it'll be worth something again. My only regret is that I didn't get it AFC graded or whatever that service is. All of the accessories are genuine, but there's no way to prove they haven't been swapped out with repro pieces anymore that I know of.

Getting it as an adult, mint in box, with his signature on it off ebay for $60 was pretty sweet though.

>>
>>6275717
How does it work? Are the clothes rubber? Does the Spidey mask actually fit over his head? Are the arms and legs swappable or do they actually get covered?

It just seems like the wrestler costume could have been an entirely separate figure.
>>
>>6275773
assuming you wanted to reply to>>6275727
you take off the arms and lower legs, slide on the rubber torso piece and plug in the sweater arms.
the pants are rubber but the lower legs are glued inside so you slide on the pants and plug in the legs. the masks are both rubber and fit over the unmasked head.

>I remember owning only the T-Rex, without the armory.
back then molds were reused an insane amount, even more then what we see now. The dino rider toys were seen as so good for their time that even museum store lines used those molds. You likely had a museum line rex. If he did come with some armor and stuff, then MAYBE he was reused in the cadillac and dinosaurs line. I don't recall if they used a rex for that toyline but I know the dinosaurs that were used were Rider molds.

Had everything there could be had GI Joe as a child...except for this and the Defiant.

We moved around a lot as a kid, so my parents understanding this knew moving the Flagg would be a complete mess and never bought it for me. Ditto the Defiant.

I had never seen one in person until a comic con a couple years ago and even as a grown adult, the sheer scale of it made me understand my parents rational.

I personally don't mind buying re-issues of them. Honestly I was gonna buy a Takara reissue of Convoy but it got sold before I had enough money to get him so I opted out for a God Ginrai instead. I did the exact same thing as a teenager, bought the rex and raptor but not the spinosaurus. Still have them but the main regret is the articulation is so limited.

This is probably the Joe vehicle I wanted most but never got. Still keep tossing around the notion of getting a used one in decent shape. All I ever wanted when I was growing up was a toy of Pizza Head from Pizza hut. They would do the rare children's mean or promotional item and every time I was let down that there wasn't just a stupid toy of Pizza Head. Now that I understand simple molding and casting, I combined my love of Crazy Bones and my basic sculpting skills to make my own Pizza Head gogos.

Man this brings me back. I had this, and fucking loved it. Looking at it now it's... really not much of a playset, but, yeah as a kid this was my jam.

Mine was this son of a bitch. I had the Dragonzord first. I got the Megazord later. But this guy eluded me. And finally the Thunderzords went into stock and I couldn't find this thing anywhere anymore. I think my parents knew I was upset about it, because that Christmas Red Dragon Thunderzord, the Thunderzord Assault Team, White Tigerzord and Tor the Shuttlezord were all under the tree. I was spoiled as fuck, and I did finally forget about Titanus. But every so often, that fucker pops into my head as the one that got away.

I didn't know dick about Ultraman but I had a huge desire to get this playset and some of the monster figures so I could pretend to play King of the Monsters with toys. I only ever saw it at some appliance store that had a random toy isle my Grandparents would stop at every now and then because they worked for Hoover and had to go in to discuss ordering with the shop owner. I begged for that thing like a spoiled asshole multiple times but never got it because they said it was too expensive there. I guess the owner stocked toys at a hefty markup for that exact reason, to exploit children bored out of their minds that got dragged along with their family.

I had a combined megazord from an early power rangers series as a kid I got for Christmas, it might of been time force, I don't remember. All I know is my parents bought it for me for Christmas then my younger brother threw it in the trash because he was jealous. Was about 1.5 ft tall when combined. Each individual zord could transform too. Kinda what got me out of Sentai as a kid, at least until dino thunder aired. If some anons post photos I'm sure I could identify it. I got it between 2000 and 2002 iirc

I'm just guessing here, but I bet he grabbed a pic off Google and wasn't that specific about which Buzz it was exactly--he likely meant whatever Buzz came out in 96.

We must also consider that a lot of people remember things being a lot better than they were, like in his mind he really might think that's the Buzz he got. Like, if you show adults a picture of MP Prime, they might identify it as the G1 Optimus Prime they owned as a kid. Memories can be like that.

The first time I saw a space shuttle transformer was on the packaging of another 2001 RID figure. The other space shuttle toy I had wanted prior to that was the early 90's LEGO set which was huge and prohibitively expensive, so I had assumed this would be the same. Then I learned it was a basic, got him along with eventually his mates and was introduced to the wonderful world of combiners.

RID Ruination is a great set, he really is. Bruticus is also good, but it's hard to find one in good playable condition and his individual guns don't combine.

Got this at a yard sale/flea market thing, when I was an 7-8 year old. I had gotten literally a few dollars to spend and I spent it all on some spiderman figures. I was pretty happy, me and this other kid were running around buying all the coolest shit we could, running back to our moms and begging for our change. What an age it was, when 25 cents could buy you some sick ass toys, even a bundle of them in ziplock bags. Anyways, after all was said and done and perhaps I made some stupid purchases, considering I had very little to spend and there was an amazing selection of toys on sale. There was my mom, with that box, probably complete. I remember just feeling so angry and envious of her. "Awe, did you get that for yourself?! I spent all my money, I wanted that!" Then she tells me she bought it for me.... What a mom. Love her to bits. Back in those days we had hardly any money and she was thinking of me even though I spent my money like a damn drunk on any crappy thing I first saw.
