You're not, that's a great mold. I like to keep his shoulders folded up so he doesn't have quite as gorilla-y proportions, but otherwise he's pretty much my de facto IDW-esque Wheeljack. I might someday pick up an extra and give him the generations' head and find a way to attach the wrenches.

I look at all these people getting excited for all these upcoming movie toys, and I can't understand why. The movie toys always end up shelfwarming for years afterall.
>>
>>6276154
Probably because the new molds we are getting this time look way better than what we got with AOE.

Also, I live in one of the few countries where the only AOE figures released were the 1-step crap and stuff like that, so I'm actually OK with the Dinobot repaints and stuff.

Prime, Starscream, Bumblebee for sure.

not at all, especially two of them are distinct characters and the repaint is different enough from the original that it can easily be suggested to be a new character

also while not my absolute favorite, I do really like ROTF Thrust a lot, he's got a really unique appearance(makes me picture him as being a lot like the Byarlant Custom from Gundam Unicorn in action), although in the context of my collection and the pseudo-fanfiction/headcanon surrounding it I treat him as a version of Flywheels instead(since Flywheels still doesn't have a CHUG version and is the only other Decepticon I could find that shared Thrust's particular shade of magenta, them both turning into jets happens to be a nice bonus)

I don't have Blade/Streetwise, so I subbed Prowl in for them. Already owned First Aid, so this is the first time he's been used with his own team to create a gesalt as opposed to being an odd man on Cyclonus's makeshift team.

I gotta be honest, that's not a bad idea at all. Maybe if you stole some of the brown pieces from the other version of the mold you could really push towards being Flywheels. I even wonder if there'd be room for the TM Flywheels head in the cockpit.

I'm just getting desperate since he keeps not getting a figure even though the redeco chances have been there. I know Gen Blitzwing wasn't a /great/ mold, but it would have been perfect for Flywheels!

Well I know that, but I meant the reason behind the fighting is that he's now trying to save Earth so he can be it's ruler.

You know, as opposed to "I wanna destroy Earth, Optimus! You don't get that privilege! I called dibs!" It'd be a nice mirroring of their roles since if this time around Megs was defending Earth. Just while simultaniously being a jackass and pillaging/destroying human locations with his crew because he's still all about himself.

Galaxy Force Vector Prime and Starscream were my third+fourth Japanese import purchases (BW Neo Longrack and Robot Masters Primal were my first+second). >Depends on how much you loved the G1 cartoon
not necessarily. I never gave a shit about the G1 cartoon and barely know the characters at all, but I still have a good MP/3P collection based on alt mode accuracy, bot mode articulation and aesthetics. the other benefit to zero cartoon/story loyalty is that you won't be dumb enough to buy 5 repainted/retooled versions of the same damn toy.

>>6277140

So I've always loved transformers since I was a kid, getting lots of G1 toys from car boot sales, had some of the G2 toys and always onto the lore, comics, shows but not a fan of the new movies.

Want to get back into collecting, stopped when I was about 25. Also wanted to start reviewing, probably focusing on a load of the beast wars toys I have. Our tiny town had a toy store that always had stuff on crazy discounts for clearance so I'd pick up a deluxe figure super cheap every week.

So, what would you like to see reviewed and what do you think would make a good name for a review channel?
>>
>>6277695

toy reviewers are a dime a dozen. I say watch up on a variety of different channels, do some research on what works and doesn't work.

At the same time, you gotta be able to set yourself apart.

The only real big thing that keeps me from watching a video regardless of how its presented is actual quality of the video, like if it was filmed on a cell phone from 2001 in a motel room with no lighting, I'm not watching.
>>
>>6277695
>So, what would you like to see reviewed and what do you think would make a good name for a review channel?

Clear, concise, and to the point. No stupid catchphrases, no long music intros, just a "Hi, I'm blah blah, I'm reviewing X", followed by a review. And I do mean a review. Point out negatives, point out positives. Don't slobber on a toys knob like it's the greatest thing ever if it's got obvious flaws.

Also what I want to see reviewed most is 3P stuff. Most HasTak stuff you can tell exactly what you're getting just by seeing photos of it, and can take a guess at the relative quality. 3P is all over the place, some releases are amazing, others are the plastic equivalent of a fire at a shit processing plant.

>>6277723
It would probably look the same but with less hand articulation.
>>
>>6277723
like this
>>
>>6277415
I think it works on Wheeljack just because he actually DOES have a lot of paint detail. Ratchet would just be all white, and it would kinda look like dump.

I think the case with Ratchet is odd. Everyone complains about paint chips on him, but my Ironhide doesn't have any at all, and I've transformed him a lot, and not particularly gently. I think this proves it really is more about the quality of the paint than it is paint itself.

>>6277422
He's one of the few bots that completely uses his alt. mode in bot mode. and vise-versa. Nothing really tucks away and hides during either transformation. It all just becomes something else.
>>
>>6277745
Yeah Ironhide just has much stronger paint. I had both for a while and Ironhide has none of the chips Ratchet has.
>>
>>6277745
Speaking of fake parts, I find it neat how, despite the robot mode chest on MP Cheetor obviously being fake, the actual beast head is right behind it at exactly the same spot. If they wanted to, for whatever reason, they could have used the beast mode head for the robot mode chest without that many alterations to the current transformation, which I just think is cool and makes up for the fake chest..
>>
>>6277623
Hot Rod has one, but it's really a coincidence rather than an undocumented feature. The tabs on the gun that are meant to go on the engine also tan into the slits on this thighs. It looks ridiculous but someone might like it.
>>
>>6277800
There's a similar thing with hard head. There are tiny little little nubs on his arms that a tiny little hole on his gun can peg onto.

A lot of people seem to think that Ironhide's plastic is gloss-injected, and not painted.

I can't say, because I really don't know what gloss-injection looks like, but the surface of my Ironhide does have some imperfections that look like tiny paint bubbles or dust particles that happened during the painting process. Both are Hasbro though.

It was a weird time when this set was released. The AOE toys were still price controlled and local dealers parallel imported the set in mass amounts. They wanted quick turnovers so everyone slashed the prices almost immediately. The end result was that you could obtain the sets at up to 50% off the components' combined MSRP, with Takara-tier paintjobs.

Including the pop up weapon might not happen if the Hasbro version doesn't include it, since it would need a ton of remolding just to accommodate it.

I don't think striving for cartoon accuracy is such a bad thing. The Animated figures were pretty show accurate and the toys didn't suffer for it. But I suppose that's a different case.

>>
>>6278566
Part of the thing with the Animated line was that the cartoon designers worked hand-in-hand with the toy designers to come up with character models that could be translated fluidly into transforming action figures.

The MP line in its current state is working off of character models that did not consider how every part of the robot goes into its alt form. That's how we get amazing tricks like Inferno's disappearing ladder, but it's also why Megatron is so damn complicated. Definitely a different situation.

>>6278566
The issue with G1 shit is that we have people who are split on what G1 accuracy is because the entirety of G1 was inconsistent as fuck. There are people who want to animation accurate down to being featureless blobs, people who want things to be vehicle accurate with all the proper details, people who want toy accuracy, and I'm sure there are some other sub-categories of autism for this like people who want fucking animation errors.

It's not like S2/S3 beast wars, animated, prime and so on, where they started to nail having consistent designs between the toys and commercials. You could make a toy for any other universe besides G1 and as long as it pretty much looks right, you won't get the same kind of autism as you would from G1 fans complaining about it not being perfectly aligned with what their "idea" of the the toy is.

Most of the engineering is done by Takara's designers though. The improvements from Cybertron to around 2010/2011 were due to increases in design budgets that have been cut now by a variety of factors.

Quick question for those who have more experience with this sort of thing. I have a shitty K-Mart not too far away from home, and they tend to put lots of products out of the shelves they're suppose to be in. Can I get more than one toy at a discount? They currently had 4 Leaders on the wrong shelf for way cheaper than normal, with their normal price tag nowhere in sight.
>>
>>6279456
Generally goods are checked out using their barcodes, so if it's not discounted in their database then it's just not discounted no matter where you find it or the condition.

You can always bring the item to the cashier or CS counter and ask for a price check.
>>
>>6279456
Do what I do, I even do this at the very super market I work at.

>grab item
>get cashier to scan
>"hay um that's not the price I saw it at"
>get them to price check if they don't just drop the price straight away
>Situation A:You have a discounted toy, yay
>Situation B:You don't, no sale made

You may take a pic of the shelf if you wish and the display, just pretend you know nothing except the price of what you saw, doesn't always work especially if they somehow suspect you changed the shelving.

Seen a guy do that at my joint once, he cracked it hard but we all had a laugh when he left empty handed.

In short, have a go anon!

The only one I have with that same body type is the Encore version of Bumblebee and I'm not entirely sure if the plastic on it is strong enough for daily use desu, someone with more minibot experience please enlighten me.

I threw caution to the wind and bought a Shrapnel from a chinese seller for 12 bucks """" NEW """".

While it wasn't new, the bubble was stapled to the card, it had the instructions and Reflector and it was still better than paying $30+ for a Scout class toy that I wanted just to have a complete Generations-era Insecticon set.

I gave Reflector to my Astrotrain because I love how well it works with him in Camera mode.

well not all of it, the IDW tie-in comics were pretty dreadful for the most part, and it's kinda easy to see why they stopped bothering after DOTM(since all that ever happens in them is introduce toy only characters and then kill them off to explain why they aren't around in the movies)

Sometimes at my work autist do this, end up checking myself, half the time its from another store, sometimes its my own store's shelf.

But a smaller portion of those are, infact false flags and we end up just denying price changes due to customer tampering, its helpful when the guy that's filled the shelf is nearby to confirm things since by the time we check cctw we could of done more important things, like actually working.

Its why I added "if you wish", its more self satisfaction since staff themselves need to confirm, and you never know if they end up fixing up the display themselves and say nothing they said is true (done that before to some loud prick who wouldn't stop cursing towards the younger staff, but I have encountered it myself, some places you can't trust these days, not that I accuse outright I just follow them down the aisle and keep smiling while having a friendly chat to let them know I'm watching at least)
