ordered few screens and portraits from bricklink to decorate my sigfig place
this portrait of torin supposed to be hanged on the wall BUT SUDDENLY found that these 2 dwarf portraits have these stud connectors!
which makes them impossible to be hanged on the wall like other "Decorated Plates"

>>
best sets to buy to get a bunch of pieces for building modular-style buildings? I want to make a bunch of highly detailed buildings of various sizes to make a town, not necessarily all connected though.
>>
>>6274363
There are very little sets that have a significant enough number of "regular" bricks in limited colourschemes to really make that work.
The bigger more high end sets of current themes might have more regular stuff if it's a building of sorts, but it will often also come with vehicles and lots of minifigs you pay for.
I'd check out creator 3-in-1 sets (often have more consistent colourcshemes) maybe the ninjago temple building and the regular modulars they have out now.
Check out the inventory of pieces on bricklink for the sets that might work out for you to be sure what you're getting into and plan things out atleast a bit.

Since you asked specifically about sets, i think you might have something against bricklink. But for small regular bricks that aren't really all that special in itself, bricklink is the way to go. Very low price per part for these parts and often in quantities well over anything regular sets can give you.

Of course, but there's caveats. You have to wait a certain time before deleting, which can be annoying. You also CANNOT delete after a certain time has passed.

The kicker is that it isn't going to matter because we always run out of bumps before images anyway and it makes for a slightly funny moment in an otherwise slow thread today.

All the Ninjago skeleton legs with black boots i have are crazy fragile and have broken a lot.
All the 90s skellington legs from my childhood that were scraped around in a tub for atleast a decade+ are all still intact.
I don't have any skellies that were produced more recently, so maybe the plastic quality has gone down with those.

>>6274646
The only thing you need are a shit ton of long plates and two 4-stud wide strips covered in tiles.
You could get the shallow angle to work using some technic pieces as "joints" to lock it into a triangle. The long side uses studded technic bricks to attach it to the racing strips.
I might suggest using the thinner 32 long baseplates for the base.

Then a simple system with a rubber band (pink) and a knob to make the activator/starting system.

My exposure to their shows is pretty low. Never watched Ninjago or any of that. Last year, though, /co/ convinced me to watch The Freemaker Adventures and I legit liked it. It's hardly high art but it was enough to twist my arm enough to buy some of the sets which is all Lego cares about. It's kid stuff but it had some clever bits and it seemed like the writers knew their shit and put some effort into the show. The Palpatine Museum was some nice shit and I'd love it if they did a modified baby body to create the Emperor bobblehead.

When I saw Nexo Knights on netflix I figured what the hell and gave it a true, but it was like they barely bothered to connect with the sets on which the series is based. Felt thrown together with next to zero effort.

I'm not upset or anything, just surprised how slapdash it was. But like I said I've never seen Ninjago so I've got too few points of reference to judge how usual this is. I grew up in the damn 80s with shit like Transformers, I'm used to cartoons that are just toy commercials.

Completely false though, each episode directly influences the sets, All the monsters are just mooks no matter what you think

Fixed that for you, anon. Without fail his schemes were just summon a bunch of monsters and let them run nuts. The only time that nearly worked was when they summoned a bunch...and then sent them at multiple targets tricking the knights into splitting up which only worked because nobody listens to Merlok.
>>
>>6275117
Because Jestro is being played by Monstrox the real Big Bad. His schemes were all just smokescreen so the book of Monsters could eat the books and regain his form.

The show actually makes you feel bad for Jestro.

>The show actually makes you feel bad for Jestro.
I suppose it can, but that's still just an opinion. He created his own hell and willingly walked into it freely, with no duress, and long before the Book of Monsters spewed evil all over him. You don't get any moral leeway in stabbing your only friend in the back because a book with a face told you to. Even when he got a taste of ultimate corruption he still fucked it all up in the end.

I feel no more pity for him than I would Team Rocket as they all blast off again.

You're free to see it differently, still even when Jestro is at his worst and honestly trying to be bad he's still a total incompetent.
>>
>>6275133
Everyone except Lance hated him, and Lance barely had any time for him, then along comes something that pretends to be your friend, it's natural to be influenced by it.

Then in the end, Jestro did what was right and helped save the kingdom and then he got mindraped by Monstrox.
>>
>>6275139
Wasn't it Clay who was the bro?
>>
>>6275142
It was Clay yes
>>
>>6275105
The show even more than the sets indicate many of the monsters have specific functions, key strengths and roles, but in the end Jestro and the Book use them like a retard mashing the A button in a fighting game, if, that is, the A button was linked to "summon more monsters". Funnily enough this almost works until naturally Merlok 2.0 pulls some shit out of his digital hat and shoves it up Clay's ass.

It's a fairly moot debate, though. End of the day the show is what it is, which is a cartoon for kids to make them shout, "Mommy I want that!" and "GIVE ME YOUR FUCKIN' CREDIT CARD, WOMAN!" Nothing wrong with that.
>>
>>6275142
I think he says the king was always kind to him too. His big problem was mostly crowds laughing at him when he didn't want them too, i.e. when he fucked up. He really just needed another job, sadly the one he chose was evil magical overlord which hasn't exactly been working out for him either.

I loved 'em. Spent my time digging through the pegs of thirty some checkout lanes looking for any that were missed. I gave some away but I still have six left.

Humorously all you need to do to make a tentacle horror out of them is turn the lower leg around so they can scuttle about and it comes with an extra "tooth" I stuck on the top cap. Lay them on their side and they look like a gaping maw trying to pull people in. I mostly used them for space displays and once for a halloween one. Wish I had some pics to share.

This is honestly the one reason I stopped watching Nexo halfway through the first season. The animation is awful, and the backgrounds are more of an afterthought than art.

It's three year after The Lego Movie, people! How hard is it to get an intern to assemble some stock peasant cottages and trees in LDD and use those in place of the low-res polygon garbage that we got?

I have reached the point where I can't stand watching a "Lego" show that doesn't use actual brickbuilt backdrops.

I asked in the last thread shortly before it hit capacity but I might throw this out there again.

Are there any photos of this hair on a regular minifigure? Or can anybody who has it do me a favour and take some?

Would suit a diorama that I'm building if it does but if not that money can go toward more bricks.
>>
>>6275290
It's specifically because they don't match the old ones for some retarded reason.

Green Classic Space Torso and Light Bley Classic Space Torso can fit in with actual CS torsos because they don't have an abundance of belts and buckles and shit. It would have been a trivial matter for Lego to reproduce the original Futuron pattern exactly, but for some reason they decided to modernize it.
>>
>>6275285
That's something I hated from what little I've seen of Ninjago. The show uses Lego minifigs but they apparently are meant to behave as if their world is as real as our own, and much of their props are clearly not bricks.

As hated as Star Wars seems to be around here, I do like how their animated movies/shows obey far more closely similar rules to the Lego Movie where largely they can rip their environment apart and shove it back together. Rowan even gets the "Force Master Build" ability they love using in the "Should have used the Force" commercials.

That's just a personal preference. Feels more like you can think of the show as a kid playing with their bricks when the characters treat their world largely the same way.
>>
>>6275276
Indeed. My point was the tubs were so much better price wise back in the day. I limit myself to about an hour a day just sorting the bulk that I buy on the weekends. It's crazy but there are like 6 shades of brown/tan, multiple shades of purple and pink. Teal and the color list goes on.

And is there an official reason Lego changed their dark gray color? Now I have 3 shades of gray.

Does anyone remember the days of the limited color palette we had back then.

This is fault of licensing. Lego can't make own show showng bricks because then it would be a commercial. The licenced movies count as parodies - that's why they can have bricks
My problem with Ninjago is fact they rarely rebuild something what IMO should be the main star of the show.
>>
>>6275367
>This is fault of licensing. Lego can't make own show showng bricks because then it would be a commercial. The licenced movies count as parodies - that's why they can have bricks

Sure, whatever you say.
>>
>>6275367
I don't get this. They ARE thirty minute commercials, this is nothing new, yet why would parody suddenly make it okay?

Besides, The Empire Strikes Out is a clear parody but the Freemakers was meant to be dramatic with humorous undertones fitting with how Ninjago and Nexo Knights is done. There's an interview with the two guys running the show talking about how they took cues from TLM on how even when we know the world is made out of bricks and their parts pop off just fine and they can breathe in space you can still make a threat seem real. Then they actually go to the lengths of trying to make the show fit in whatever passes for canon in Star Wars these days even knowing it isn't. That seems to be a help. They care enough about the show they're making and go to lengths to make it work as best they can.

>>6275364
That's actually Batman thinking, "I could be dicking Dick RIGHT NOW."
>>
>>6275386
I'd add to be fair that there were only two sets for this series, so perhaps less pressure to make episodes showcase them all. At least they're getting a second season and we've seen some blurry pics of new sets:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u_Wo9KMY26Y

The Emperor and Vader are complete parodies, though I'd argue than this is a benefit. Season 1 worked from making those two the worst bosses in the galaxy. And the show staff do make the effort with Hera showing up and sending Rowan, whose skill is building with the Force, to the same Mon Cal who created the B-Wing for the Rebellion in the series Rebels. This show's events are clearly not canon but they really do the homework regardless.

I think it's a nice touch, but it sure as hell won't be for everyone. Mileage will most certainly vary just like I'll gladly concede that people who like Nexo either the show or sets are entitled to their preferences. These would be boring threads if we all liked the same stuff.

Anon's just spewing bullshit. There's no "toy law" prohibiting them from having brick sets in the cartoons. It's just the production company being cheap.
>>
>>6275439
It might be, hell I'm sure they cut corners where they can, but I can at least see where they might use the minifigs but still pretend that the world is "real" and not made of bricks. I don't think any of them beyond the big theatrical movies bother to show that they have holes on the back of their legs, although that might be a rendering cost cutter? Somehow?

>Bob Roth: One of the revelations for us before we started the show, The LEGO Movie showed you can do some really rich, emotional stuff with a minifigure. There were parts that were leaning that way in some of the later Yoda Chronicles and Droid Tales, so it was something that was very much a part of it.

>Bill Motz: So we’d like to think that when Rowan and Roger are being hung over the pit, that’s a real jeopardy moment. Hopefully you’re laughing at Graballa because he’s a very funny slob, but then when he turns menacing he actually holds some threat.

>POOP
>>6276168
I don't know what POOP stands for in Lego context. I assume it's something like SNOT.
>>
>>6276179
Piece Of One Purpose.

Or a piece that is atleast very hard to find different uses for. Think lego cat or belville doll or darthvader helmet.
They don't always have to be bad. But in some cases when it's totally possible to make something work with several pieces that can be used in different contexts, using a poop for everything can be a bit of a shame.
For example the dinosaur and basilisk pieces used for large detailed creatures are still used for claws and tentacles of all sorts of creatures today. The bodies for the angrybirds figures will probably hardly be used ever in both Legosets and mocs.
>>
>>6276186
I see. Poop is a good word for it.

I have Legoed for many decades, and I have seen the rise of the poop and the decline of the brick.

Truly, we live in poopful times. And I fear there will be no return.

I wound up with two, ultimate and I got a chance to buy the first series, both on clearance. Reason I'm saying that is I really like the series 1 armor design. The "popped collar" works really nice with helmets, BUT it causes a lot of problem with certain hair, especially when turning the head. The series 2 armor is much better, no collar and far less restrictive (this might be why they dropped the collar design). Of course longer ponytails will probably have problem with the studs on the back (Macy's official hair is a long one like the hair seen in the CMF female genie and dinosaur hunter lady) but nothing is perfect.

The only thing you can use from this is the torso. Pants must be black, belt should be easy enough to find (some Knights belt should be fine, I believe). Head must be changed into

I like it for the most part, though I hate the upper landing rails. Oh, and the stairs that don't reach the second story door. A decent enough little store and home combo. I technically turned the toy store part into a Disney Store by having the Mickey minifig in the window.

I feel less iffy when they're clearance buys. The sandwich shop I found far more charming. Gotta love that giant sandwich.

Talking about Lego stores I dragged my partner down to the Westfield branch on Monday for Triple points/promo VW and help with Batman blindbags. Wondering if that man who was looking for two Harley Quinns is lurking amongst us.

Where do you get these sets? Sounds like they're extra expensive. Seems like Brickmania is pretty exclusive. What if you're more casual than that?
>>
>>6277481
It is lego, for the most part. BrickMania (from what I can tell) just sells you their MOCs with printed instructions, a box, etc, and they probably get the pieces from bricklink like anybody else would. They do have SOME custom parts (treads and weapons mostly) but they put on the listing that it's original LEGO brand building bricks

The reason why they are so expensive is because they are original designs.

Like >>6277489 said, they are basically selling you MOCs.

If you are more casul like >>6277481 then I'd suggest getting Cobi sets. Purists can fuck off, Cobi is great. I buy Cobi as much as I do Lego now.

Cobi models look good, are more durable than Lego, and are bigger. So what they aren't 1:35? Doesn't mean you can't MOC your own.

Once they release the Maus set to the states, I'm going to get two. One for the Maus and the other one to use the turret and tracks on an E-100 MOC I want to do.

To the anon that paid 475 USD for this.

I know its new I stalk brickmania. They sold you 1028 pieces and one mini figure or 0.46206 cents per part. Not their highest put still very high.

The price per part from brickmania is crazy your paying more than triple the price per part that lego charges for their licensed star wars sets the ones that constantly go on sale because even asking .11 cents per part is asking much.

For the price you paid you could of got a shit ton of legos. Enough to the point where your mom understands you dumped x amount of money for a shit ton of bricks. But you just dropped something short of 500 dollars for not even 2000 bricks.
>>
>>6277696
I think this part also comes in brown which is what I was going to use for mine.
Unfortunately, I think that scabbard only works with katanas and not other swords. I might be wrong about that though, since I don't own the part.

Could somebody who has this piece try it with other swords?
>>
>>6277719
I only have the ones that cross, but the sheathes are pretty thin and only hold katanas, knives, and other pieces that are the same width and depth.

Well I'd travel back to my childhood, punch myself in the mouth, and steal past me's Lego collection. I got the old bricks out of storage and it's so sad to see all the worn and broken pieces. I could only put together one original spaceman, minus the original helmet, and even then the torso is pretty scummy. All the others are so worn you can barely tell there was ever any printing.

Don't buy Star Wars figures either. Lego makes SW sets in a couple years and they retain their value while these Power of the Force figures will not."

Either that, or I'd go back to the Futuron/Forestmen era and buy the entire Space and Castle assortment.
