That's sort of the entire point. When you're living in your native country surrounded by your people, these issues are not a big deal to you, it's easy to laugh it off. When you're in America and nobody looks like you, and you get made fun of regularly, and the only time you see people that DO look like you is in bad sterotypes, that's when that shit starts to mean something to you. I mean, I'm probably gonna get called a whiny sjw or some shit, but anyway, that's your explanation. These issues almost NEVER matter to people from the country of origin--look at how few Japanese people cared about all the recent movie whitewashing.
>>
>>6267768

>We mexicans don't get offended with that stuff, it's mexican-americans who do, for some reason.
man that's how all the complaints are. Scarlet playing the Major in Ghost in the Shell got tons of attacks for white washing, Japan's response? 'But we LIKE her, she is best choice! ' Some cultural awareness thing involving a museum in I think Boston was working alongside the Kimono industry which provided a lot of Kimonos as part of the Museum's 'try on a Kimono day' Industry is suffering over in Japan with the young generations not giving a shit about them, so they are trying to start a trend in america. Unfortunately the whole event was canceled because tumblrinas protested in mass. Who led them? A CHINESE American was the one triggered.

It is now affecting Seasame street too, or maybe it has for a long time I wasn't aware til now after babysitting my baby nephew. Mexican character getting upset over a book cause the characters wore sombreros and she was all 'but we don't wear those!' Granted at least the show presented the logical solution of encouraging people to make their own stories instead of protesting and forcing others to change.

>Has fully functioning cock he used to fuck Yar
>Uses male pronouns
>Wants to be HUMAN

What bothers me most about this is that there's an episode of TNG that forwarned us about insane gender ideologies. It's the one where there are transgendered asexual aliens, who were originally like human beings and bimorphous and sexual but evolved to the point of being 'civilized.' To them anyone who had a sex and identified as male or female or wanted to have sex was considered a mental illness, and they dragged them away to 'reprogramming camps' which is an allusion to homosexuality and pray away the gay bullshit.

It's so hilarious in retrospect.

I want this gender ideology to stop.

Sorry, man. Middle-class white American women are very privileged and spoiled and used to getting what they want, and if they don't, they argue, get incredibly passive-aggressive or just plain throw tantrums. Once everyone was online, they were able to be a bigger part of the cultural voice, and now we live in this "OH MY GOD, did you HEAR what COCA-COLA said about YOU?" gossipocracy where every single thing is scoured for things that could be interpreted as being passive-aggressive and then traded to you for the implicit promise of future social favors.

Look at Trump. People STILL think if they yell loudly enough, eventually the tantrum will pay off. But the people who are actually affected? We've already started to adapt to the new status quo, because what other choice is there? The younger generation take Obama for granted because they've never known anything else, but plenty of us still remember how bad it used to be.

Alright, this is a little complicated.

So, there's a Mexican street food called elotes (literally "corn") which is served on the cob with cheese, chili powder, butter, and sometimes mayo and lime juice. Shit is absolutely delicious, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND.

Someone took the elote concept and started making "Tostielotes," where you cut open a snack-size bag of Tostitos tortilla chips sideways, then dump all the elote fillings (including corn cut off the cob) into the bag. It's kind of like a Mexican Frito pie, I've had it once and it's pretty good, I mean at the core of it it's basically just esquites with tortilla chips added.

NOW we get to the video. It seems to basically be a Tostielote, except she has subbed in Doritos for Tostitos, and puzzlingly, added instant ramen noodles to the center. I also don't exactly get why she added a spoonful of the corn liquid at the end, seems like it would increase sogginess tenfold. But all the condiments she adds are basically what I mentioned in the elote part of this post.

tl;dr: it looks insane, but it's a fairly sound concept aside from the ramen noodles and corn liquid.

If you zoom way in, they're called "fizzin' foot grenades." The old Playmates toyline had a habit of constructing real-world weaponry out of goofy materials (for instance, I recall owning some military Turtle with a rocket launcher made of pizza boxes and hot dogs). So yeah, they look like bottles of soda, but they are pretty clearly intended to mimic stick grenades.

>being american looks fun if you like fast food, lots of variety and crazy inventions
Well I definitely agree on the variety, not sure if you and I are on the same page as variety however. America has tons of different tastes depending on where you go, it's great. The east coast alone has tons of variety due to all the various immigrant groups settling through out all of America's history versus the other regions which started getting settled at later times and often the cultural influence on the culinary tastes spread a much greater area then in the east. The Pennsylvannnia area has a lot of Germanic foods mixed with Polish, and Hungarian, also some damn fine chocolate from the amish. New England is well known for Clam Chowder and Lobster, in particular lobster rolls are the popular 'fast food' option there. The south east is where you start to see some of that famous southern hospitality and cooking, but big differences is the more northern of the south east you get peacan pie, Georgia is famous for peaches, and Florida really depends on where you go but they are well known for the Key Lime Pie.

And that was just what comes to the top of my head for just the East coast. I would not be surprised if every nation in the world has a region within the US where their cuisine is a regional mainstay.

I give you props that you explained your point pretty well. However I'm also a Mexican-American and hate the current outrage culture.

Is it embarrassing for me that growing up for example when I watched wrestling that mexican wrestlers came out to the ring in law tractors?

Of course but it's one thing to hate it and another to bitch and whine until we censor everything. Growing up I hated conservatives that censored the vidya/anime I liked and now it's the liberals who are censoring the stuff that I like.

Fuck censorship and that's why trump won, sadly the left didn't even learn from their mistakes and are still "fighting the good fight" so we'll now be stuck with terrible goverment because of all these outcasts who think they found a voice by whining until they get things their way.

Jesus Christ. How? Why? This is what happens when an entire generation of kids are taught that thinking "who the fuck cares" about something in history is basically a hate crime.

Trivializing stuff like the holocaust is precisely what creates the laissez-faire attitude towards modern-day racism. History isn't just "stuff that happened before my time," it's shit that we should learn from in hopes of not repeating our mistakes.

>>6267480
As a kid i accepted this as a toy, cause there was or were so little representation/figures of Mexicans. Same with Speedy in cartoons, i looked for some one like me and mine. I dont see it as a problem from that angle - but if they had the character in a cartoon pretending to have the accent and being lazy while having a million kids - i would have been grossed out. Mexican American here, who lives right down the street from Mexico.

>>6281151
If you are talking about not making racist, homophobic, sexist toys for kids - then there is a problem.

I dont care if you make gross shit for adults, but admit that it's gross shit that it is. Know that you are fans of gross shit and dont excuse it. I would have a lot less problems with people and assholes if they just said yup - i like shitty stuff and it does have a reflection on me.
>>
>>6282723
Maybe because you are not the arbitrator of what is and isn't "gross".

Now please, fuck off.
>>
>>6275937
I was triggered due to the shit design before I heard any lines from the movie.

Pathetic.

Why do British people think paki is a bad word? It's just like saying brit or Canuck, everyone in Canada says paki, some English girl got so triggered when I said paki

As a consumer i can say what i feel is gross, you can ignore it if you want and you didnt. But reality is you are going to be judged no matter what you do. You cant lie to yourself about what you consume and choose to do or engage in.

Man, I know next to nothing about Mexican food but sure looks atrocious. Btw, I recently saw Conan O'Brien's Mexico special. He had some tacos al pastor and I appreciate the fact that people carved the meat with knives, not some electrical slicer. (I'm Turkish and a purist when it comes to döner kebab)
>>
>>6283472
What looks atrocious? The corn? If you ever get the chance, try it. It's typically really cheap, and I'm like...80% sure you'll love it. It's a great melding of flavors and it's addictive as fuck.

If you're referring to the original video that sparked this discussion, then...well, yeah, that might taste kind of suspect.
>>

So it's basically a line of action figures of US Presidents?

Yeah, I was referring to the original video.

>Same with Speedy in cartoons, i looked for some one like me and mine
Do mexicans find Speedy offensive? I'm pretty white and I always loved him, not because he was a humorous stereotype but because he was a fun character.
>>
>>6284593
To be honest, when I was a kid, I didn't heard a lot of complains about it. But in later years, I learn some people do dislike him because entering into private property to steal food isn't exactly a good portrait of your culture and people. Also, all the rest of the mice living with Speedy are either lazy or dumb, quite often both.
>>
>>6282723
>>6284593
It was the opposite: Mexicans loved Speedy and got upset when his shorts were pulled back in the day. I'm pretty sure they still favor him today.
>>
>>6284606
I always thought of Speedy as being innocent as Jerry was trying to get cheese from under Tom's watch, technically not in the right but the one you sympathize with, but yeah all his friends being lazy as fuck does seem a bit off in retrospect, I get it.

>>6284637
I'd love it if CN went back to the old format of spamming Hannah Barbara cartoons so I could randomly surf past Speedy shorts again. Boomerang though, I get it.

>Japan's response? 'But we LIKE her, she is best choice!

have you ever heard of cherry-picking responses to include as part of marketing?? There's always THAT Asian who'll defend terrible Hollywood casting choices and as far as the directors/source material creators go, they get dollars in their pockets to help promote it, so yes... they'll also support it. Movie didn't do well at all where I am btw (living in Asia), it got blasted by a late release of Makoto Shinkai's "Your Name" and a re-screening of Miyazaki's "Spirited Away". There also wasn't a big controversy, just that people who grew up with GiTS weren't interested in seeing Scarjo as Motoko and those who didn't know of GiTS weren't pulled in by the movie's own trailers alone.
>>
>>6318592
Plus the fact that onscreen Asian representation literally could not matter less to native Japanese people--they see it every single fucking day. It's an issue to Asians living outside of Asia because they so rarely get to see their own kind onscreen in big Hollywood productions, and even when they do it's often bit parts or shitty stereotypical roles. Asking native Japanese about Asian-American issues is dumb as hell, they don't face the same issues and often have no idea said issues even exist.

Yeah. Though they were based on the best animated version of the franchise, the 2003 toys focused too much on "restraint" and the current ones just don't have the same feel.

I know that feel.little brothers were into transformers and always asked me to do the first transformations to show them how they should work. Never had a transformer myself (except for happy meal beast wars and a single Animorph figure) so I was stunned at the wide range of 'this is a breeze to switch around modes' to 'oh good lord, I can feel myself breaking the laws of physics.' absolute madmen to come up with that.

My brother owned the mexican Mike, and it was pretty neat. His knife was a chilli, the gun was a cork gun and the bullets were more chilli. However, the little buddy next to him, and the serape, which are full of colour, were a simple piece of plastic. No paints at all, just a big slab of plastic.
