>Got Megatron in Mail
>Open it
>Paint chipped on chin of the laughing face

Not sure how to feel about this.

I understand why they paint the thing, but I really wonder if there is no such thing as shiny injected grey plastic they can use?

It seems most of the problems this guy has is due to the paint. It thicken parts where they shouldn't and they scratches. Again, you will always get people complaining about bare plastic.

The transformation is really complex compared to the old modern MP, maybe too complex.

I wonder if Takara and Hasbro did a sit down talk on where to go with G1 Megatron- will he ever be a gun again after MP36? or just update him into a heavy vehicle?
>>
>>6267204
I actually prefer bare plastic, am I the only person on the planet with this opinion? Not just for paint rub/tolerance reasons, but I just prefer the look. Not any plastic, mind you, I hate shit that's been poorly mixed, and most metallic plastics. After Shockwave I had fucking hoped this guy would be mostly bare plastic.
>>
>>6267185
You know, I find Quickswitch kinda endearing even if his helmet is wrong. Maybe it's because I prefer big ol blocky, bad color scheme, g1 looking dudes, and Sixshot is such a solid mold that I didn't mind buying it twice.

I would like the head though, since it's the only way to get a Marvel-looking TR Blaster.

The qc of newer mp's are always under scrutiny, especially since the backlash of mp shockwave has lead to figures getting drowned in paint.

It makes sense, you're paying how fucking much for shit, as a result I can't use mp mp ironhide or mp ratchet's full face plates.

We'll never be happy though, if its not too much paint its not enough and if its not either its own transformation destroys itself.

showing that QC is a mess with this toy. reports are poring in that the joints are very prone to breaking and most guess is because the grey plastic is cheaper type. Also some note temperature of either direction is bad for it. To hot it warps to cold it goes brittle.

That said this is the first MP made at the new factories built at Vietnam so this might work itself out in a second run.
>>
>>6267325
>That said this is the first MP made at the new factories built at Vietnam

But mp hot rodimus wasone of the first mp's from Vietnam, or are you saying they have NEW new factories in Vietnam?

...wait wouldn't they just use existing staff or are they miles apart?

>Second run

Oh boy we'll be waiting awhile and it might be a redeco that see's anything.

But really, could you read the original post, I'm suspecting the owner of that one tried to remove the silencer from the gun barrel and (being a tight fit) may of broke it off in the process.

If I ever transform mine I'll hold down that gun barrel as I gently twist it off

not the one in question no. However I think we need to reflect that a tight fit would make such a clean break, should be a lot more uneven and jagged if it was by force alone.

You don't have the luxury of just mangling him for the hell of that, I did that with my mp-05 because he has a case of the cosmic rust and ended up scratching the bejesus out of him, somehow nothing broke.

If you're scared now don't bother, but if you want the honor of saying "I did it" the be my guest, I will be trying mine, but no silencer.

I think shockwave looks like a good toy, but I didn't order him, he's the first MP I haven't bought, solely because he looks so friggin lame in that unpainted lavender crap plastic. Good to see an additional Sweep Titan Master alongside the ones that come with Scourge bodies. Perfect troop-building pair.

>LG-45 Target Master Hot Rodimus
>LG-46 Target Master Kup
Now this is interesting. Obviously they're keeping the Titan Master gimmick, but are they also giving them exclusive new Targetmaster partners?
>>
>>6267369
Oh sorry, more like the revisional toy is more loose than the original, ie mold degradation symptoms.

But that's what I get for collecting the hasbro mp seekers, I swear they went from great to "I NEED TO USE THE FORCE OF 2 PEOPLE TO SEPARATE THE LEGS".

I've never been lucky to have a newer version of a toy, retool or reissue, that's been better than the former

>>6267372
I'm curious as to what this sweep is...scourge without a mustache again?

>Now this is interesting. Obviously they're keeping the Titan Master gimmick, but are they also giving them exclusive new Targetmaster partners?
Well the Original headmaster crew got titan master vehicle accessories, perhaps they'll get redeco's of those again.

I just need to see what the kup's deco is like, I'm eying off the generations to go with my classics hotrod but if it turns out to be that much better fuck it I'll have another deluxe hotrod
>>
>>6267375
>Well the Original headmaster crew got titan master vehicle accessories, perhaps they'll get redeco's of those again.
I suppose that's possible. Scourge and Blurr didn't come with the TM vehicles, right?

I don't think there's ever been a clean-shaven sweep in Japanese G1. The six sweeps in Scourge's Legends comic were all identical, so it's probably just the regular head. But who knows!
>>
>>6267383
>Scourge and Blurr didn't come with the TM vehicles, right?
Correct, though blurr was a target master, its possible that's just their names for this release, but giving them TM vehicles would add them to the same bracket as the HM crew as being "special".

There is no clean shaven sweep in g1, I was referring to the platinum edition's inclusion of "sweep", could also be a mis-translation or perhaps a different facial expression/paint could be used which would be lame as fuck...

But then again its coming with a sharkticon, a generic pertner would make for troop building for japanese owners
>>
>>6267372
They are only 2600 yen, that's about the price of a plain deluxe. I doubt there's new accessories.

Dunno about quick switch and gun mode but what about sixshot and upside down sub mode?

Eh its not the greatest idea, the baby hands can't grasp the wings properly and the fingers as they are are too weak to really support him safely, he's kinda just resting there with the fingers preventing him from falling out, tighten the ball joints...could work but you'll have to pose the arm and then attach him

While the ratchets are strong enough to support the weight he'll need to be level at all times just to be safe.

Did I help?

>The transformation is really complex compared to the old modern MP, maybe too complex.
This is my biggest issue. I feel like the MP line from 10 and up hit a sweet spot where Transformations are complex, but not difficult. They're fun and clever. MP-36's just looked like a kick in the dick, all for the sake of a cartoon-accurate bot mode that still has some flaws, and now nobody will even bother transforming him because it's a pain and he scratches his own finish off.

I said I would buy MP-36 if they did a silver-painted version, but now I'm kind of hoping they don't so I'm forced to just buy Despotron, who looks much better alongside MP-10 anyway.

>drowned in paint
You people are so fucking indoctrinated by shit quality toys that if something uses paint, it's "DROWNED IN PAINT".

The key is that they need to use higher quality paint. It's weird, I think the paint they use on the Takara LG series is better than most MP paint. There's some paint in areas on LG Brainstorm that takes a lot of abuse during transformation, and I've done it multiple times, and there's nary a scratch. Takara just needs to get their shit together. The answer to scratched paint isn't to just not paint it at all.

Everyone seems to forget the earlier MPs. nobody complained about the paint on them because it was well-applied, durable, and looked great. Solid paint is what makes a good-looking figure into an amazing-looking figure.

It's the issue Chosen Prime's email talked about. The attachment was probably designed with the bare plastic in mind for a snug fit. With the the added paint, it probably wedges the part on the barrel.

That Megs owner rammed the silencer on and used brute force to try and get it off.

I prefer it for the most part unless it's a color that always look better painted like any metallic color or white. I can't understand why people would want a painted MP Shockwave when the point of G1 Shockwave is that he looked like a toy gun in bland colors, though a darker purple would be better as Marvel was his best appearance. The other MP are just unfortunate to all have colors that look like shit unpainted; unpainted red and unpainted white do look cheap and drown the sculpt down, unpainted orange is kind of shit too, and HasTak's silver plastic is just disgusting. Dark metallic red is pretty but that just wouldn't look like Ironhide or Inferno or even Sideswipe.

In the end I prefer my transformers to be cheap, sturdy, and easy to play with so I really don't care for the MP line.

>You people are so fucking indoctrinated by shit quality toys that if something uses paint, it's "DROWNED IN PAINT".

But some of the best 3P toys use almost no paint, because everything is cast in appropriate colors, and then paint is used as it should be: For details, that also aren't going to get buttfucked by the transformation process.

No matter how you look at it, there is nothing that will ever be good about slathering an entire figure in paint. It's always best to just cast stuff in the appropriate color, and then fill in the details with paint instead. A $200 collectable/toy/whatever the fuck you want to call it, should not be suffering from these issues.

Tarantulas and how few toys he gets. The only good one was BWTM2. The few other figures have been pretty bad (A motorcycle? A fucking rook repaint?). I'm really holding out he will get a BW MP, but I seriously doubt it. With his big role in the IDW comics I am surprised he hasn't gotten a generations figure, and I'm surprised a 3rd party hasn't made him. The 10th Anniversary figure was nice looking, but the mold is still dated as fuck and has super THICC thighs. I really love spider-bots, and Tarantulas is more or less the Shockwave type character of the Predacons. Maybe some day he will see an updated spider mold....

You guys ever find that a figure has ended up completely co-opting another's accessories? I grabbed a thundertron on a whim to pad out an order and needless to say his included weapon was hot garbage. Ended up giving him Sky Lynx's weird fork things since he really has no use for them when uncombined and because they're so esoteric that they could only ever truly be used by some weird old guy. Actually transformed him and it took me 90 minutes. Thank god nothing bad happen.

Yeah, the whole thing is tight, very tight. It does not help the paint at all when when pieces are bumping into each other all the time when transforming.

The biggest problem I can see is from 3 places.

The crotch is way too tight, it wouldn't surprise me to hear people broken the hip joints while pulling the legs down. It would probably happen in the future too once the brown plastic holding the leg to body degrades.
The barrel is hard to move into position in gun mode fearing snapping the thing. The problem might avoided if they didn't give us the moving barrel and the whole shifting thing.
The mid panels on the side of the gun mode that contain both the grey and the black gun colors. Damn, I thought they were going to snap when they tell you to flat out the thing. What were they thinking? Did they use those perpendicular joint edge on a rotating side again?

Did put on the silencer and not even smidgen of pressure on the barrel, the silencer scrapped the paint on the barrel already when removed.

I going to switch him back tomorrow and leave at that.

Straight from toy tojo about mp-36, its about how tight the hip is

> A few folks have reported feeling uncomfortable with the amount of force required in extending the hips down for transformation to gun mode. This joint can be a bit tight from the factory but you can adjust it to release just a bit easier with a screwdriver.

>Just loosen the pictured screw every so slightly (try a quarter turn at a time until it feels right) and you should find the release much more comfortable if it is giving you trouble.

Think there's any truth to the rumors of Takara doing an MP Devastator? I don't want to take a risk investing in Toyworlds V2 Constructor only for Takara to pop and say "here's ours!".
>>
>>6268850
They did say they had plans to do mp dinobots and combiners, but they mentioned they'd do the combaticons specifically.

In saying that Hasui (the designer) did try to make gen devastator mp like (his words not mine), scale wise and some of the additional features the takara version had, so chances of an mp devastator might be a long, long time coming.

Flip a coin, if heads rush out and buy 3p and keep the boxes as a "just in case", if tails wait until one does come out in several years time and then track down each 3p bots you need

Anyone who thinks that this won't be Headmaster Hot Rod and Kup with two mini-vehicle "guns" is retarded.

Oh I'm sure you can find it if it bothers you so much.

Its not actually a brownish grey, its in truth undyed plastic, in its barest form, pure cost effective use rather than paying for plastic dyes.

You can grab a gundam model and it'll come in shades of grey that no hastak toy will ever use, I personally think even takara's grey can be darker or more solid at times, the swirly shit on mp starscream is one example

>>6268938
The cost of the 2 figures says otherwise, it would make sense but each is about the same price of blurr and scourge who didn't included the HM vehicles, despite being target masters themselves.

>Maybe, maybe Takara will include repaints of the two Targetmasters that Scoop came with or something, but that's as far as I'd expect them to go.

Nice fix.
But unfortunately the core of the issue is the paint.
While transforming him, i find out that if you hit the paint with the your nail just hard enough it will actually leave a mark. Same with rubbing.

Having MP Sounwave and Shockwave with me on the side, this was never a problem them (unless it is the very thin chromed Soundwave's silver parts, they get scratched but nail wouldn't do the job)

So I am not sure what went wrong with Megatron. I would still recommend not putting the silencer on if you want your barrel intact, it'll be rubbing against the hard plastic when you put/take it on and off even with the fix.

I think the paint problem is from the fact the grey is not "glossy". It is somewhat of matte coloring, the unevenness of matte just catches thing and give away the paint. It also does not help they did not go full thick coat like Shockwave's feet

I finally figured out what the hell was keeping MP Cheetor's beast head from stuffing into his chest properly: They apparently didn't test for clearances with the whiskers on and they squish up against a hinge in his torso. Shaving off a tiny bit of plastic from them (the edges are originally square) gives them clearance for the chest to close up properly. If you don't want to cut plastic off around a pin you could just get some tweezers and try to guide the whiskers around the hinge instead, but that's a pain in the ass.

I wonder if this is a problem only I had though, because I never saw anyone else complain about the chest not closing right.

Not exactly, it just contradicts one line from that novel, it could easily be retconned to mean he went to Earth, had no idea Megatron was there, then got the idea he might have been there when he finds the human ship out in space.

Actually I was leaning more towards Ironhide being on earth during...the golden age of piracy(?) but I think it's just ignorant history meaning he never mentioned it doesn't mean it contradicts canon.

I agree, to an extent. I think a bigger problem is altmodes that simply don't work together. Take Astrotrain. Trains and space shuttles look NOTHING alike, so any attempt to combine the two is always gonna look bad.

Take pic related. It's a Soyuz rocket, carried by a steam train. THAT'S how you do Astrotrain.

Make that Astro's train mode, and make his "rocket" mode a crawler-transporter, like this: http://www.collectspace.com/images/news-082113b-lg.jpg

In both altmodes, the rocket can detach, and could be used as a jetpack or missile in robot mode.

The rocket could even have a little payload section on top, where a Titan Master could sit.

Starscream could have just elected to let Megatron remain in ice or Sector 7. Would be in character for him to try to take Megatrons place by the side of the Fallen

"Fuck Megatron. Im not lifting a talon to help him unless I absolutely HAVE to"

He then feigned surprise at seeing Megatron

At least with Octane's color scheme they can pass as jet engines under the wings. Prime's colors just made them too painfully obvious.
>>
Does anyone else have Alpha Trion? One of his spaceship/carrier panels kind of stick out instead of being flat, is this a known issue or should I try and exchange it?
>>
>>6269812
Not something I've noticed on my copy.
>>
>>6269813
Both panels are flat/parallel to the ground when in pseudo-carrier mode?

Then I guess I have to lug it to the mall, buy a new one, then switch its box while in the food court like a fucking manchild (I threw away the box to reduce space)
>>
>>6269812
Did you press them down? There should be a lock at the waist
>>
>>6269616
I get what you mean but I feel as though part of the gimmick with SOME triple changers is making miss-matched vehicles into a single toy. Just look at fucking Broadside.
>>
>>6269829
Yeah but one of them pops up slightly. I filed the joint a bit and now it pops up less but it's unslightly. So I'll probably go ahead and exchange it. Thank you though.
>>
>>6269812
Mine has it as well. When both are down, one always sticks out a bit but it doesn't seem to be an issue with the panels, it's with the midsection connecto piece beling slightly misaligned when they forced the pin.

Same fucking issue with my Fastlane, one of the arms wasn't pinned correctly and it notably sticks out compared to the other one when it's in vehicle mode.
>>
>>6269739
It's been shown that he's incapable of being a leader, much less since the Fallen was the de facto leader.

I wouldn't be too surprised. It's literally part of the movie lore since ROTF.
>>
>>6269837
The midsection? You mean the little hinge bit that looks like it's made of softer plastic? This sucks. How many times can I exchange something before TRU gets suspicious?
>>
>>6269856
It's not because of softer plastic, on mine it's because they literally forced the pin before making sure it was properly aligned. That happens a lot with transformers, but it's not really noticeable half the time since it's on limbs and the difference is negligible in most figures, but since this is the torso you will definitely notice.
>>
>>6269867
Are we talking about the same thing? There's two panels that fold up from the legs to become the midsection of the spaceship/carrier, one of the red flaps are sticking out a bit. The red flap can be pulled off but the purple connector bit seems to be attached to the leg with a pin.

Picked up Perceptor and Topspin today. Still unboxing.

Perceptor's TM, Convex has G1 Perceptor's toy headsculpt. The whole TM is sculpted like a mini-version of Perceptor, somewhat like Blaster's TM.
>>
>>6269930
Hopefully soon.
It'd make a perfect Anode.

I really regret not buying this when it was in stores. Probably the one movie toy I can say that about.
>>
>>6269962
The Red Baron repaint Divebomb was just as good, and he had another one coming as Blue Maximus before it got quietly cancelled like so many other toys from the late Hunt for the Decepticons/early Reveal the Shield era.
>>
>>6269974
>Blue Maximus
Man, I just looked it up. He's like Thundercracker's granddad!

A team of multicoloured, over-the-hill biplane Seekers would have been the best thing ever for my collection.
>>
What line got mass shifting right?

I mean, there's only so much you can do but i've seen it done. The Animated line handled it so good.

TR Perceptor's a weird release. He has a G1 Tank mode but it's not mentioned in the instructions or packaging. In the middle of the tank there's this spot that seems to be where the TM should stand, but the TM doesn't fit. That small tab sticking out looks like it was supposed to go between the TM's legs, but it's too thick to do so.
>>
>>6269991
>>6269993
I'm talking about shit like Transformers Animated Rodimus.

Tiny car to bigger robot. It's an illusion because of the engineering. Fake "mass shifting" in a sense.
