Strange, weird, disturbing and creative figures and toys?
>>
Man I love shit like this. This and stuff like coreplay is why I want to get into 1/6th but the space problem it creates makes it hard.
>>
>>6264626
I don't consider that creative. All they did was stick an animal head on a military figure. It's like the laziest way to make a cool anthro figure.
>>
>>6264626
>>6264630
Same. I can't remember if this one is by the same people or not but I dig it. Anything astronaut-themed is 10/10 in my book.

I have a whole folder with weird/interesting figures. Guess I'm commencing a dump.

This guy seems like he would be some sort of game/tv show mascot maybe?

If you're not aware of the source material then a figure might appear very strange...
>>
>>6265242
This is a villain from the Japanese show Ultraman.
>>
>>6265251
I know. I was just saying that people who don't know that would view the figure/character differently.
>>
>>6265242
It is interesting though, as kaiju are meant to be strange in appearance from what I understand. But of course, that is half their appeal.

"Kaiju (怪獣 kaijū ?) is a Japanese word that means 'strange creature,' but often translated in English as 'monster' or 'giant monster'."

>>
>>6268144
>>6268362
Bandai made a toyline of Ultraman and Ultra Kaiju that transform into eggs for reasons, the line eventually included Godzilla, then Disney properties, then generic dinosaurs. It's a real treat seeing them stateside, even though the Star Wars ones won't ever come out because of Hasbro. And at least, these are better than the Marvel pogs.

I am not a great authority on this, I just googled up this info just now--but from what I can gather, back in the 80s Masters of the Universe did toys called "Meteorbs" that transformed from eggs into various animals. Bandai copied this idea and made their own line of transforming egg animals. I am GUESSING that this started a sort of tradition which they later revived and extended into various licensed properties.

Tamagoras.jpg
69KB, 500x500px
>>6275760
You almost got it right. Meteorbs are similair to Transformers in that they were originally from Japan and then repackaged in the US.

In the 80's Bandai made Tamagoras; eggs that turned into creatures and characters. Some were brought over to Europe as Monster Eggs. Others were sold as part of the He-man line.

In 2008 Bandai tried to relaunch the series with more of a designer look to them. Pic related.

A few years later they relaunched their egg series again with Ultra Egg; Ultraman monsters and characters that transfrom into eggs. They were quite popular so they started doing other licenses such as Godzilla, Disney and Star Wars. They made some generic ones as well with Wild Eggs.

What's the point? I dunno, but Rock Lords exist too so why not?

This Armstrong is dead sexy but I can't afford this pack, I have nowhere to put a 1/6 Armstrong, and I don't care even a little bit about this grunt. If only this were 1/12...
>>
>>6278191
I used to have a 1/6 Medic Armstrong and Medic Grunt. They look together as a pair but you're definitely right in that they take up a ridiculous amount of space. The Armstrong at 1/6th scale is too large, heavy and awkwardly shaped to get a lot of posing out of his stubby little feet, which are often prone to popping off.

I ultimately wound up selling them after a year or so. I kinda miss them sometimes, but you'd definitely be better served with 1/12th.

*They look great together

Also here's a couple ancient photos I took of them while I had them. This was about the extent of the dynamic posability you could expect out of an Armstrong. And even then, good luck getting that pose to hold- the weight of the figure eventually causes him to crumple.
>>
>>6278355
A shame, I have the same problem with all my 1/6 bots. They sure are glorious to have and hold though, ain't they? I've never even seen a 1//6 Armstrong in person, I imagine it's quite large (especially with that backpack).
>>
>>6278191
I've always loved the 1/6 bots personally but I see where you're coming from. Dropcloth's are perfect in 1/6 though
>>
>>6265226
The company that makes these is called 13 Black Park. They have some legit stuff. Most of their figures are 1/6 with tons of accessories and interchangeable heads and whatnot. Too bad they're $700+, they're absolutely gorgeous.

>>6279140
No Armstrongs have two eyes. Dropcloth 1.5s and Squares have two eyes by default, but most WWR bots are monoeyed.

There are a few Berties with two eyes, but most of them are quite rare or limited (Warbot, ROHO, Ghosthunter to name a few). I'd say your best bet to get a two-eyed bot with that iconic tube shape is the Pinky Bertie 3.5 here. It comes in both normal and battle damaged forms, and was a normal release so hopefully won't cost too much on the aftermarket.
>>
>>6279606
Pinky there was a bamba release back when they were still doing 24 hour only sales. Its been a lot harder or find OG wwrp/wwr lately as most of the people that have them don't want to sell them and 3A just doesn't make stuff like it anymore. I've been trying to track one down for a while to no avail.
