I got in a bid war for one last summer, and then wussed out when the price got too high. Kinda regret that now.

As a non-Sofubi person, what do you guys like about these? I'm really curious as they don't appeal to me personally but I know they have an incredible cult following.

most sofubi fans are in it for a few reasons:

1) mostly because of "muh nostalgia" for shitty toys of days gone by. Most of the color schemes are throwbacks to the old ones as well as the general crudeness of the sculpts
2) they tend to be more "indie" than other toys, made in super tiny batches by hand and generally designed/made by a small group or 1 person. There is kind of a punk rock type attitude about the scene and the toys

Not really into sofubi, just that some characters I like only come in that form. For example that Lapras is the best figure of her ever made. Same with this Samurott I have.

I love sofubi, but something has always seemed ironic about thinking of something synonymous with high price tags and idol worship as punk.
