Probably should've snagged one of these when it was going for ~60, fuck paying 100+ now.

All my Sneks are lonely. We didn't get nearly enough supporting characters in the smaller lines. PAK had a pretty impressive roster, but those are crazy expensive now and not all that great.

Now with all the Konami bs going on, I doubt we'll see another MGS line, at least for a long time.

the gurlukovich soldier is pretty fun although im surprised the shadow moses snow guard didnt get made first I mean isnt that guard the most well known and iconic mgs guard?

I was gonna say maybe Good Smile only had the rights to MGS2, but then again, they did make a Nendoroid MGS1 Snake. Who knows

Speaking of that, I was thinking of picking up the knockoff, they're cheap af on ebay.

>All my Sneks are lonely.
No kidding. I've got a pretty good version of snake/bb from most of the games, but I've got no one to pose them against. It's so weird, considering how many characters in the series seem practically designed to be toys.

>>6252017
>Speaking of that, I was thinking of picking up the knockoff, they're cheap af on ebay.
Same. I really want that an-94 he comes with, but man, fuck paying retail for him. I still can't believe they priced a glorified army builder so high.

I really wish I could get down with PAKs, because they seem to have the most consistent selection of characters.

Why? It would be shit.
>>
>>6252788
Like the anon above me said, there is just no way in hell it would turn out well. MGS is already cinematic as fuck anyway and even draws criticisms for its long ass cutscenes. No reason to butcher the series into a live action travesty.

Besides, there's really only one Snake for me, and it's David Hayter. Without his distinctive voice it would just seem wrong. In his younger years he might have even visually passed for a decent Snake, but that ship has sailed I think.
>>
>>6252807
The only way I see it turning out well is if Michael Bay did it.

Before you freak out, consider this.

MGS1 is literally a Michael Bay movie, lots of action, slowmo, raunchy humor and sexual stuff.

I hear the Kong Director and it seems like he would treat it way too carefully and the guy isn't even that great, if Kong is anything to go by.

What we need is a stripped down story, a bit watered down and just have a "The Rock" type movie, and I feel Michael Bay would nail the tone.
>>
>>6252796
>>6252798
>>6252807

If they treat it as a Marvel movie it could be great. got all the back story and villains for Snake to be a super hero,

>MGS1 is literally a Michael Bay movie, lots of action, slowmo, raunchy humor and sexual stuff.
What on earth are you talking about? Did we even play the same game? Yeah, all of those elements are in MGS1, but treating them like the main emphasis tells me you were either asleep for the majority of the game or took away the wrong message entirely. While you can play the game guns-blazing if you wish, MGS1 was primarily notable for pioneering the stealth genre--turning it into a big dumb explosion-filled Bayfest seems to miss the point at best. Not to mention the fact that MGS1 is essentially a musing on genetic engineering, can't really see Bay handling this with any sort of subtlety or class (or including these themes at all).

And if you're going by the ridiculous action cutscenes in Twin Snakes, Kojima has said that shit isn't canon.
>>
>>6252686
He's so overpriced.
>>
>>6252917
Twin Snakes is awful, I ignore its existence.

But I'm talking about the story itself, Snake dodges a missile for fuck sake, don't even pretend Kojimbo is a master writer, he's far from it.

And all the themes are topics are about as subtle as in any anime, the whole thing is more over exposed than M Night's Sriracha's Last Air Bender.

MGS1 is as subtle about genetics, geopolitics and nuclear deterrence as The Rock is about vets.

>subtlety or class
Because Kojimbo is a master of either.

MGS1 is my favorite game of all time, but the franchise has the most myopic, annoying, deluded and lacking of critical thinking fanbase in all vydya

Make no mistake, I'm no Bay fan, but if there's a director who has his work cutout of him with MGS1, it's him, if it's the """writing""" you're worried about, we could get a good writer.

All in all I'd rather the movie was never made.

To expand a little bit more on what the other anon said, Konami had apparently been treating their employees, Kojima included, horribly, and shortly before the release of MGSV they removed Kojima's name from all marketing and distanced him from the franchise he built. At the time, Kojima was also working with Guillermo Del Toro and Norman Reedus on P.T., a new Silent Hill game that actually looked really good (and we haven't had a good Silent Hill game in forever). Everyone was really excited about it. Konami pulled the demo and killed P.T. as well before kicking Kojima to the curb.

Basically they're going down in flames, and it's really sad cause they were my absolute favorite game company growing up.
>>
>>6253367
Alright, I'll play devil's advocate for a minute here. Konami clearly wasn't comfortable being in the videogames business recently. This got compounded by kojima in particular, who's design pholosophy is pretty much "OK, what if we put THIS in too?". MGSV went hugely over budget, and they got antsy over something that was turning into a money pit run by a pretty unreliable guy.

Don't get me wrong though, konami is still full retard, particularly when it comes to merchandising. Randy from neca has talked about it, and they seem like an absolute nightmare to work with. Rejecting prototypes for approval with no reason, not responding to licensing requests at all... It's kind of not surprising how most metal gear toy lines get one or two characters and then end.
>>
>>6253399
McFarlane seemed to put a at least a few runs of figures from 2 games, curious how how that happened considering Todd is a retard
>>
>>6253402
Those were from mgs1 and 2, right? It was a while ago, who knows, maybe they actually gave a shit back then. It's a pitty that those are what we got a good selection of instead of stuff with modern engineering.
>>
>>6253399
>a money pit run by a pretty unreliable guy
Metal Gear was their flagship series. They literally didn't have anything bigger or more profitable. I think when one man is responsible for something like that he deserves some creative and budgetary leeway. And furthermore, when said man has not only built the most profitable franchise your company has ever had, but also created OTHER successful franchises for you, well, I don't quite know if I'd call him unreliable. That sounds to me like he's got what I'd call a good track record.

Plus, no matter whose side you're on, Konami had legitimately been mistreating its employees and acting very childishly. Barring Kojima from attending TGA to accept the award for MGSV was a huge slap in the face and not a good look for a giant of the gaming industry.

>>6253402
McFarlane out-shitshowed Konami that time. Kojima was infuriated that McFarlane had revealed Raiden early via the toyline, and that's what soured relations and ended the line.
>>
>>6253408
So, you can have a track record of putting out solid gold every single time and the bosses will still still balk if you break the bank to do it. I wasn't kidding about V's budget, it ended up something like the 7th or 8th most expensive video game of all time in development costs alone, and that was before they told him to just wrap things up and just release what he had. A huge producer like rockstar or microsoft probably wouldn't bat an eye at something like that, but a company that looked like they low-key have been wanting to get out of video games for a while now? Kojima was less and less of a good fit for konami as time went on, what happened was probably a long time coming.

>Konami had legitimately been mistreating its employees and acting very childishly.
Yeah, from some of the stuff I read it had to have been absolute hell to work there. I can see why they had problems with kojima, but I'm not saying they were in the right at all.
>>
>>6253422
Fair point about Konami wanting to get out, but it still makes little sense to me from a purely profit-driven standpoint. I mean, Konami still likes money, right? MGS is a proven seller, and even if the development was severely overbudget, they had to have known they'd make their money back and much more. A track record of literally over 30 MGS titles would show that. They pretty much had a proven sure shot on their hands basically.

Konami could have bowed out of the industry (relatively) well with one last hurrah. Kojima had been wanting to conclude MGS anyway. Instead they chose to burn their bridges and fuck it all.
>>
>>6253452
honestly it feels like some really disconnected oldfags are in charge of it all. gives off that 'damn kids with their home video games and their remote controls and their storylines, PACHINKO IS ETERNAL BAKA' vibe.

Say you have a friend who asks you for fifty bucks. He's always been good for it and you've got a hundred on you, so it's an easy yes. An hour later he asks for ten more, and this keeps going on until you have to borrow money from somebody else. It's funny someone brought up michael bay earlier, because he's got literally the opposite reputation. I'm not a fan of his movies, but studios love him because he consistently puts out blockbusters on time and under budget. When you're fronting somebody a hundred million and your first failure can be your last, those get real important real fast.

>>6253457

>and they got antsy over something that was turning into a money pit run by a pretty unreliable guy

But every game Kojima's put out since MGS1 on the PS1 has been selling gangbusters. They literally had no reason to worry and actively sabotaged their own fucking product with their retardation.

Oh, and because of this we're also never going to see any GOOD MGS figures ever again. Or a properly sized MGS1 Snake.
>>
>>6253669
Exactly what I was saying. Like yeah, excercise caution in all things, but at some point you need to realize when you have a good thing and take a leap of faith on it. Konami had their fuckin blinders on.
>>
>>6253702

I guess the only thing to blame is Japan's warped corporate culture. Not saying any other countries is any better, but Japan's are actively harmful to most companies, and when they burn bridges, they go full salted earth. Capcom did similar to Konami, laying waste to all of their talent, most of their IP's, and a good chunk of their teams, for example.

I don't know why everyone suddenly decided that Grey Fox was metallic. To me he'll always be this desaturated brown and navy blue with a matte finish. I think the only figure that has ever really nailed this look is McFarlane's, sadly.

That said, I find the shade of gold they used on the PAK really offputting, and much prefer the bronzier tone on the Revo Mini.

That's because the figures made of him after MCF were based on MGR not the MGS1 look.

I have him and as the only decent Snake we'll get in this scale he's good enough. I actually have no problem with the face, even if it isn't as good as the proto. It still looks fine. The alternate face is a different story, now THAT's an abomination.

My only issue with him is that his hips can be loose along with his waist due to how it's built. Still I wouldn't pay more than $80 and even that's steep.
>>
I wonder why the metal gear thread I made got so ignored lol

I love the look of the play arts figures, but does anybody else's seem to wear out quickly? Especially the newer ones, if I pose them even a little bit the joints get ultra loose and it is so frustrating since they cost a lot

That depends on where you're buying from. That price range seems too good to be true, beware anything coming out of China. We're talking about a figure that retailed for $70-80 on average.
>>
>>6254825
Definitely 60 at the very least. There is an unbelievable number of bootlegs flying around.
>>
>>6254698
Everybody knows about Shinkaway captain obvious, we're talking about the reason why the PAK is the exact same design as MGR even if it predates the game.

The single reason for this is Kojima, just like Kojima was the engine for every single MGS collectible after McFarlane.

>>6254428
Oh yeah, this too, I have no doubt in my mind that the PAK is the MGR design, if the similarity wasn't proof enough.

>>6254414
Oh yeah, I never thought of that, and it's a much simpler story, way more adaptable than Solid.

Still, I would love to see Cyborg ninja.

Actually, no I would not, they're gonna fuck everything, it's only a matter of time.
>>
>>6254414
If they do make a movie based on the MSX games I can only hope a remix of "Theme of Solid Snake" from Metal Gear 2 would be the music for the opening credits.

Would be pretty awesome, even if the rest of the movie sucked.
>>
>>6255485
It's kind of bizarre then that both PAK and Revolmini Ninjas were touted as "MGS1" Ninjas and even had Metal Gear Solid logos and text on their boxes as opposed to Rising. If Kojima wanted to make his new Rising design, fine, but I would have loved for it to be sold separately as a repaint. I mean, how easy would it have been to rake in more cash doing a MGS1-accurate matte repaint? Both Grey Fox figures sold out in a flash and got ludicrous on the aftermarket.
>>
>>6255485
>Everybody knows about Shinkaway
This sounds like a spray repellent for Shinkis.

They wouldn't have even had to make new paint masks. Just choose different colors and give the whole thing a matte topcoat. Would have been cheap and printed money for both companies.

No, it's a terrible game, even the voice acting which was partly paid by Hayter doesn't have the spark that the MGS1 performances have, not to mention Gray Fox sounds horrendous.

And the music is absolutely abysmal. Except for Gray Fox's track.

I am aware that it's different, but it's not THAT different. I would have been totally happy with a "85% there" repaint, utilizing the MGR sculpt with MGS1 colors. The best example I can give is something like this...you can clearly tell it's still Filia, but the colors make you think Miku. I don't need the sculpt to be dead-on, give me the right colors and a matte finish and my mind will go "oh yeah, that's MGS1 Grey Fox."

Frankly, I'd do it myself if both toys weren't so expensive at this point.

Anyone else have the hot toys Snake? I luckily found it for 220, I've seen it go for 400+
>>
I'm glad I'm not the only one bothered about the sudden switch to metalic hard edges for Gray Fox.

MGS1 art and graphics made me think of his body/exoskeleton to be more like flesh colored, paneled/stitched with matte blue parts and that white helmet. The revomini is cool enough but would have loved to get a full sized revo of him... granted this would never happen if we just keep bitching abt it in 4chan. Maybe if we kept tweeting nicely at the ceo and sculptor for a full sized Gray Fox, they'd call up Konami again and see if they can take another stab at making plenty of money.
>>
>>6256879
I get you anon, I personally see them as very different designs, maybe a repaint would do for me but I doubt it, for me it would require a new sculpt.

Yeah I would try it too but I don't want to ruin mine and even if it's inaccurate it's really pretty looking so I'm fine with it.

I hold out hope that it's a matter of time before Konami starts cranking up toys now that Anti-Solid Kojimbo is out.

My concern is that they too will only produce Baby's first MGS Snake Eater figures.

>>6257861
I always thought of Gray Fox's suit like fake muscle more similar to Old Snake's suit than an armored look.

Like, mate finish and muscle-looking.

I don't dislike the new design desu, in fact the revol mini is one of my favorites in my collection, but I would love to have an accurate one from MGS1.

when are the FUCKING IDIOTS AT HOT TOYS GOING TO RELEASE THEIR MGS5 FIGURES THEY HAVE THE LICENSE GODDAMNIT

I think after the major fuckup of the Hot toys MGR Raiden and the major backlash it got I think it's gonna be awhile before we see any more sideshow metal gear stuff

what was the fuck up with hot toys mgr?? didnt hear about it.

>>6258064
I don't dislike the new one badly either, I still bought that revomini and by the looks of it, don't regret grabbing it as a last measure... Didn't think at that point that MGS future was going to nosedive that quickly as a franchise
>>
>>6258506
Do they? I mean, still? Even after Konami imploding and Kojima leaving and all? I figured Konami was trying to bury the legacy of MGS and move it in their own shitty direction with that zombie bullshit.

>>6259028
Raiden was just a hideous looking toy. There were so many things wrong with the proportions on this thing. The head was HUGE and the hair was poofed up to glam rock size. His face looked bizarrely small within the giant head as well. The huge head on the weirdly awkward looking body created a very cheap look, kinda reminded me of old MEGO dolls or something. Doesn't seem to pose all that well either. And it certainly didn't help that the amazing looking Revo was already out, making this look even worse by comparison.

they had the license of 4 too, and never released anything

I have it, I really like the figure, but the mobility is shit

I will never understand why they didn't use the tiger stripes uniform

why was mgs3 the only game to get fucked out of having 1/12 figures?
>>
>>6259942
Don't forget 4.
>>
>>6259869
This a thousand times. I've considered customizing mine, but don't really have a good answer for the underarmor/bodysuit thing. His hands are a pain to change too, and since his boots are a solid piece, he's difficult to pose since he can't pivot or turn his feet.

next time you get figures of mgs, itll be mgs3 and 1/12 mark my words.

upper body looks horrendous.

either the head is too big and too high, or his shoulders and upper chest are far too narrow.

spot on bandanna though

Ordered Vulcanlog Venom Snake from HLJ.

If you're able to secure them for cheap enough, they're honestly not that bad to own. I grabbed SS Venom Snake for 7k Yen but I have seen him go as low as 5k. Same with Ocelot.

Really wish I could grab Solid Snake but aftermarket prices for him are just insane.
>>
I've been thinking about getting the bootleg figma Snake for 15$.
Is the quality that different from the original? should i just bite the bullet and buy the actual figma?
Also i've seen the Gurlukovich soldier for 10$. Is it good for army building?
>>
>>6273069
The worst part about it are the joints, the neutral face on mine wasn't the worst but I still repainted it. The angry face looked horrible though, then again so did the original. Also the paint job on the suit was kinda fucked for me, very splotchy. Looks like he's been crawling through dirt.

Mainly bought it for the pack of ciggies for my Constantine.

Funnily enough, still the best PAK I've owned.

My dream is the grunts from all the Solids. We got Gulgavich's men, so now we just need Genomes, Tengus, the heavy armor dudes from 2, Ocelot's men with their hats, Outer Havens, XOFs, and I guess those parasite folk as well.
>>
>>6273902
Kotobukiya did Rex, Ray, and Sahelanthropus model kits.
Mega House did a chibi Rex with Solid and Liquid figures.
3A did multiple Rexs and Rays.
and lastly McFarlane's MGS2 line had a Ray BAF.

Oh yeah, I forgot. I was interested in those until I learned you had to buy all of them to have the parts needed to complete the ZEKE figure.
>>
Fuck figma and their moe anime girl bullshit, the MGS figures sold like hotcakes even with all the Snake face complaints. Even if they only have the MGS2 license we should still be getting human Raiden and Solidus. The nendoroids lead me to believe they also have the MGS and Phantom Pain licenses, yet they won't even touch them in favor of whichever waifu trash is popular this month
>>
>>6276116
> The nendoroids lead me to believe they also have the MGS and Phantom Pain licenses
That's not necessarily what it means, it's perfectly possible to have limited licenses. For instance, Mac Factory might have only had the Phantom Pain license for Nendoroids, not Figmas. It's not a blanket company-wide thing, licensing is pretty focused and specific.
>>
>>6276129
come to think of it konami could be doing that character specific licensing shit, only letting merchandisers make Snake (with the exception of PAK). Kind of like how Toho only lets Bandai produce non-Godzilla monsters, while every other merchandiser is only licensed to make Godzilla himself
>>
>>6274496
