is Lego worlds fun?
>>
>>6246329
Absolutely not. Just a random time consuming thing for little kids to run around and press "Delete Block" to make a cave or stuff like that.
I was playing this game when it was in early acess and tried it yesterday - nothing changed.
>>
>>6246269
Considering too much toy stock helped kill Disney Infinity do you think LEGO Dimensions is nearing it's end? People are finding packs in bargain bins and generally discounted to dirt cheap prices. Pretty sure a brand who prides themselves in quality and price like LEGO would hate to see this continue.

>>6246329
It's good fun to explore all over the place and find new things. Character customization is also good, allowing you to use parts from almost every character you come across. Building is better than it has ever been in the Tt LEGO games, as everything is built brick-by-brick (unless you don't want to; prebuilt objects can be scanned and reused).

Well worth the relatively cheap price.

Bricklink. It's an unofficial online marketplace for all things Lego. Sellers and buyers are all usually well-versed in Lego, so you'll find most items at cheaper prices than if you went looking on eBay or Amazon.

Here's the catalog for CMF Series 3: https://www.bricklink.com/catalogList.asp?catType=M&catString=746.758
Click through to get more details, and click the "Buy" button to see which sellers have it and at what prices.

You know LG, I always wondered why you don't just write a story, justapox it with your LEGO pictures and then try to publish it like that Brick testament guy.

But fuck that! those informations about Heresy, blacklights and especially photography are really precious!

you should totally write a book about those and try to get it published.

Heck, my local bookstore is filled with books on "how to build creatively" or "Famous movie scens redone with LEGO" so I guess there must be some sort of broader demand.

>You know LG, I always wondered why you don't just write a story, justapox it with your LEGO pictures and then try to publish it like that Brick testament guy.
I get asked this a fair amount, but the truth is, I might get more enjoyment out of blindly chugging along having no idea where the story is going and relying on the players to make the decisions. That said, I did have a lot of fun writing the stories about Payseez and Lu Ban, so... maybe I will sometime?

>you should totally write a book about those and try to get it published.
Actual photographers who know what they're talking about would laugh at me. This is just the stuff I've figured out myself over the years.

Same technique as always. Rubber is actually EASIER to work with because the printing comes off more easily and the rubbing just buffs the surface smooth.

Well I don't think it makes it less valuable. Also, you would be writing the book for AFOLs who just want to take nice pictures of their builds, not wannabe professional photographers.

All I say it's you should at least think about it. I really enjoy your tutorials and find them quite useful.

LEGO employee back again.

Here's another interesting tidbit. My grandma is a hoarder and since living with her I've discovered a ton of shit lying around that she has no idea the value of.

I set up a Life on Mars Aero Tube Hangar yesterday. The bags weren't even open. Today I found a Championship Soccer set on top of my wardrobe.
>>
Well, that was interesting.

I'm a BL seller and got email from someone, saying that I have one sticker in stock, but it alone doesn't meet the minimum buy. He was willing to pay the minimum (1€) plus shipping should it come to that. His son had somehow lost the sticker sheet and it would mean a world to him. I was willing to make exception, and set up a bypass password just for him. He then actually ordered it, and turns out the sheet was from Fortrex.

I'm very confused how someone could lost those, but if I can make a kid happy, it doesn't really matter.

Why doesn't Lego do reruns of popular sets? I don't see how that would make them worse off financially.
>>
>>6246590
Molding issues I think is one thing. They don't keep all the molds for each piece.
They used to do a few reruns, the black seas barracuda for example got a rerun.
I think they also might just prefer the idea of pumping out different things each year, to keep the creative juices flowing.

Guys, a local store has the starwars tie advanced vs A-wing set marked down from 109 yurodollars to 69. But i might just use that money for some bricklinking. (wich will just result in me splurging on printed pieces and small touches to finish up mocs mostly instead of anything really substantial)

>>
>>6246658
It's not a rumor. They do bury old molds under new factories.

They dug up a bunch of the old 1950s molds from the last Billund factory when they demolished it. It was in one of our quarterly employee magazines last year.

I read somewhere that Lego is one of the top companies in the world to work for (most satisfied employees or something like that).

If that's true, my guess is that getting a job there would be very competitive. What I wonder is whether the factory jobs are actually with Lego or if the factory is contracted out, so factory workers work with Lego product, but they don't actually work for the Lego company.

I only wonder that because I work in a similar situation: Working with a high profile company's stuff, but actually working for a subcontractor with shit pay and benefits.

Pic unrelated.

One of the discounts they offer is 50% off - coupled with other offers you can get a new set for virtually nothing. I've seen a case where someone brought the two most expensive Lego Batman Movie sets for $5. These would then be resold earning you a lot extra, and as far as i am aware the discount does not expire... so you could repeat the process.

This. The exclusive CMF pieces are a big reason why people are willing to pay four bucks per bag. Lego is more interested in making money than making sure AFOLs have a ready and cheap source of molded animals.

Theoretically after that series is over and they are no longer producing more, but in practical terms they could then reuse that part, suitably altered perhaps for color, in a future one.

So basically it is up to when they decide to do it.

Let's be honest, random different powers aside, why should I buy a shield with five powers for four bucks when I can get that shield, five powers, a figure AND a neat robot armor for about twice the price?
Unless I play that app-game there's nearly zero reason.
>>
>>6247976
Agreed, but whatever.
>>
>>6247946
What do those even do? Is there a tie in game or something?
>>
>>6247979
Yes. There's a free app game, no in-store purchases. While you're beating up bad guys you can activate nexo powers that you've scanned and it's really fun. There's one power that literally calls in the fortrex to just machine gun everything around you. You can scan the powers from the TV show too.

It's a big selling point to parents with kids who won't put their tablets down.
>>
>>6247939

The reason I want a picture of all the shields is because I'm a former warhmmerfag and I've seen a few shields here and there that'd make kickass chapter symbols and personal heraldries, like the one with the armored fist cracking the ground.

>>6247976

I'm sure there's some unique stuff here with this many being offered, but I guess they could all be dupes. Not really a Nexo guy. I got a few of the ultimates when they were on clearance and I did get Axl's mech because I like his non-standard torso design. I hope that gets reused more in the future. Kind of an interesting stopgap between minifig to bigfig.

Mostly I've used the shields as store signs, something I was amused to see other people here have done. I've used the musical symbol for a display I built with the Weird Al minifig I put together (also thanks to these threads) and the poison during Halloween when I made a bobbing for apples display. Even the football shield power, which was kind of odd when I got it. Finally a reason to take the football CMF out of storage. I can see from this chart that the hammer and anvil being useful as a Castle village blacksmith, caduceus symbol for a clinic, and...damn, I want that one with the single Lego brick now. Might build my own klocki store, now.

It's less about instructions and more about "specialized" parts that some autists can't use for anything else.
>>
>>6248450
In the old days, Lego sets came with pictures of alternate builds on the back of the box, but now most box backs only show the same build as the front. The only "official" alternate builds are things like the Creator 3-in-1 sets.

There's a meme in the /lg/ that Lego stopped showing alt builds without instructions because
>muh soccer moms
complained about it being too hard for their kids, when in reality it's probably because it's cheaper not to pay someone to design and photograph alt builds when you could put an ad for Lego.com in that space instead.
>>
>>6248450
The articles are usually "MUH BOX OF GENERIC BRICKS" and feel instructions are a end all be all.
I'm fine with instructions, if I buy a lego car I damn well know want to know how to build it. I bought a kit not a puzzle.
My problem is that I feel licensed themes and television tie ins subconsciously discourage creative play as kids will want to keep their X-Wing together for X-Wing purposes, or play with their Ninjago minifigs completely in character rather than make up their own personalities and adventures.
>>
>>6248456
Fabuland had audio tie-ins, classic space had a comic and most 90s themes had named "characters", it's nothing new
>>
>>6248469
Yes I know supplemental material has always existed. I don't know shit about Fabulands Audio-Dramas but for Jim Spaceborn it appears it was just a fun story using the toy as an inspiration. It's essentially someone's own lego story illustrated. There's no Jim Spaceborn minifigure made to sell alongside it. As for stuff like 90s lego named characters it's just a bit of context to build off. Sure I knew Johnny Thunder's name but what he did with his travels was up to me.

The tie in shows are much less obscure in children's media and offer much deeper insights into the products they are selling.
>>
>>6248485
It's almost as if the media changed since we were kids because society is developing over time and different marketing strategies might be necessary
>>
>>6248485
>Sure I knew Johnny Thunder's name but what he did with his travels was up to me
But he had monthly comics that told you his exploits.
>>
>>6248492
Subscribing to Lego Club magazine is much less accessible then turning on the TV.
>>
>>6248456
>or play with their Ninjago minifigs completely in character rather than make up their own personalities and adventures.
Back in the 80's Transformers and G.I. Joe came with in-depth biocards describing their personality and powers/abilities.

Didn't stop most of us from deciding some random fuck was leader of the Decepticons or making Crimson Guardsmen footsoldiers despite the bios saying they were purely ceremonial and never fought.

Established characters and media do not stifle creativity as much as some people think.

You rays a valid concern. Let me alleviate your worries and just say this:
Lego's marketing team (the marketing team that The Lego Group owns) knows Zodiac master is selling like a hot turd. So they come here and make a big stink in our thread to convince us to buy him and make memes. 9 posters out of ten can't be wrong.
>>
>>6248439
It's not even that oldfags hate instructions. It's the belief that movie and TV licenses killed their beloved "classic" themes (i.e., Star Wars sets killed Classic Space, PotC killed Pirates). With more time and resources being devoted to licensed properties that make money, the suggestion is that Lego has less incentive to develop and maintain its own, more creative, intellectual properties. That's the "Lego is losing imagination in its products" argument in a nutshell. Is it a valid argument, though? I look forward to reading your findings.
>>
>>6248456
This is definitely not a popular opinion, and I certainly don't feel this way now, but there was a time I remember hating the progression of more and more detailed faces for minifigs. Why? The minifig face suggests a personality (potentially) and limits (perhaps) how it can be used. If you're lucky a minifig may have a double sided head with another expression. Okay they used to be basic smiley faces that were definitely happy, but it felt like the more expressive and detailed the harder it was to impose imagination on them.

Like I said, I certainly don't feel that way now and haven't for a long time. After all, did the same thing hamper the use of GI Joe or TMNT toys? Sure you can switch up a Lego head and yes the more specific features make it harder to swap heads with different expressions, but I don't think that's enough to change the dynamic even if yes if the faces were more basic like Emmet's or Benny's without having to worry about glasses or lipstick or facial hair or scars or the chiseled cheeks some figs have. The tradeoff in making them so much more personal by swapping parts around

Lego is not loosing imagination - they are just much more focsed on cash now.
>>
>>6248850
Well, it's not like imagination and making money are mutually exclusive. You think for some reason they just aren't pushing imagination like they used to? It's possible, or just a probably unintended consequence like >>6248456 said.

I'll admit I usually buy sets that appeal to me. Maybe it's something that would be kickass in my meagre but ever expanding Lego display, so typically I build them to the instructions (though I readily embellish here and there). I rarely buy sets just for the parts unless I really want the figures and the rest looks useful.

>My problem is that I feel licensed themes and television tie ins subconsciously discourage creative play as kids will want to keep their X-Wing together for X-Wing purposes

I know this is nothing but anecdotal evidence, but my friends and i constantly rebuilt our star wars sets and developped our own ships. I specifically remember building a hover pad with a party platform. Pretty sure that licenses don't stiffle imagination.
I might however agree that society has changed as a whole and kids have become less creative, don't have any evidence on that thougv, so i'm gonna be careful with that statement

Just found these two out in the wild, and I'm very confused. I honestly can't recall last time we got store exclusives here. They're not even in the catalog. And the time of release is odd too since rest of Nexo and Batman have been out for ages now.

Shame that it wasn't the better two of exclusives (Arctic roller and the Nexo set with horse) but all in all, this was a pleasant development

On top of that it is rather unclear what you mean with "losing imagination in its products". I'd be more specific about it.
Lego is still modular and you can still technically do whatever you like with a set, even though there are more specialized pieces sprinkled through sets these can still be used however you see fit or interpretated in different ways. I assume you are writing an essay for school or something? Trying to go into how lego markets or communicates the modular and creative nature of their toy to the public could be something you can cover in a more objective manner for example. But i doubt you will find a lot of scientific tier articles on it except the odd psychology text about minifig facial expressions and violent imagery.

The 2000s football sets came with multiple stickers with different national flags and City police sets used to have multiple sticker sheets briefly (2005-2008, I think), but in general the stickers are the same no matter where the set is sold. Same goes for printed pieces, in this case I can't think of even one example of regional differences.

It's more like I feel like an idiot wasting money on orders for parts I don't need. The frustrating part is when the parts come in the mail and I get one step closer to completion, week in week out, and I've come this far to realize I can't complete the structure the way I wanted. Why? because one goddamned rounded corner plate gets in the way of a window I had attached to a hinged wall. And raising the window a plate for clearence fucks with the rest of the wall. And I need that rounded plate. So I have to make one of the other walls have a hinge.

I basically had one piece ruin my idea for a lighthouse with an opening back wall. And I remedied it, sure, but I've been on this since the start the month. And it's just not fun to be three weeks and about 50 bucks in to NOW realize the flaw in the design.

I was building the corner deli set and setting up the giant sandwich when I found myself fascinated by the damn thing. I mean this, the roses for Assembly Square, they're such nifty little embellishments for a building. Might even be useful for some of the Dimensions builds like ET's phone, though it's a little old school.

I think a version of this but designed with an extension used in Lego hands is possible, though weight would ultimately be a factor. Something you could insert that fits down to the elbow might be better but the arm would always have to be extended, at least partially, since it wouldn't rest against the side.

Those two visible gray o-clips are just to hold the bottom plates in place and hide all the snot shit underneath.

The front grille has four black o-clips in a row that make up the front snot connection, but pretty much everything is built off of this single gray o-clip. It's all snugly self-connected, so even though it wouldn't pass inspection as an official set because juggling all the pieces into place would be tough for a little kid, the final product is really sturdy.

I do like that Ultra Agents torso since it lacks the weird techno elements seen in other figs. I had one I turned into Agent Coulson (the A works well enough for Avengers, right? Yeah, try to make that fit with the movies but who gives a frick). I guess I can switch it up now that there is an official Coulson.

>ultra agents torso
I was wondering were they came from.

I think sleeping on ultra agents is going to be a big regret.
