So my Mafex is a dud. Where am I to get an ideal Wonder Woman figure now?

I've never seen paint rub this bad on one of my toys.

Anyone really fucking wish they would stop all of this bullshit they are doing running the DC toy lines into the ground?

Fuck, how hard is it to set up a six inch toy series with a wave roster that doesn't actively piss off your customer base?

It is baffling that they can't even make a decent 6 inch Superman, Batman and Wonderwoman with modern articulation (double jointed elbows, knees, thigh swivel, maybe pull down waist joint like DC Icons) with a bare minimum sculpt that doesn't look like an utter abomination in the year of our lord 2000+17.

We're stuck with Mattel, their jewery and shit MOTUC tier 4H sculpts like pic related, garbage waist joints, single jointed elbow/knees, or DC Icons with their persistence in not adding basic articulation like disc joint for the neck (Superman can't look up and pull flight pose) or thigh swivel (Flash can't run). Don't even get me started on DC Multiverse

Yup, she has really good range and thanks to that you can get her into some pretty natural poses. She has Icons-style articulation except with cut thighs that functions well with the drop-down hips. Probably my most favorite Harley figure by far. The Batman keychain freely hanging off her cork gun is great.

Just got Icons Batman in. He's pretty good. Only real complaint about him that isn't a line-wide problem is I wish his glove spikes were on the back of his arm rather than the side, but overall I'd say there's more things I like than things I dislike about him.
>>
>>6246097
I see that each of your waves have fewer than 4 Batmen. Please remedy this.
>>
>>6246227
DCUC put out most of the classic team: Robotman, Negative Man, Elasti-Girl, and Beast Boy (wearing the costume he wore when he rejoined the team after Infinite Crisis).

All but Negative Man are pricy (Elasti-Girl was website exclusive, Robotman/Beast Boy were part of a wal-mart exclusive wave that was impossible to find).

Can someone who is well versed in DC collectibles recommend me a some good figures for Batman and Wonder Woman?

I'm looking for figures that look good, have good articulation for posing, and a decent price (doesn't have to be cheap, just please don't recommend something that is discontinued and is gonna cost me like $200 on eBay)
>>
>>6249414
Honestly, the only DCC figures that have decent articulation and are recent enough to actually buy are either the Icons figures or the Greg Capullo designer series figures. There's a Batman and Wonder Woman in each of those lines.
>>
>>6249414
Mafex BvS Batman is the go to batman, you can find him somewhere between $40-$50
SHF Injustice Batman is good, but too stylized to be my favorite. Greg Capullo Series has poor articulation and only looks decent in certain poses. Icons Batman is great for a $20 figure, but has weird proportions and is small imo.
The only Wonder Womans available either have shit articulation or shit sculpt. You can't have both on one figure. The closest I've seen with both is either DC Icons (just coming out but has ugly face), Mafex BvS (mediocre figure, looks like gal godot), or DC Bombshells (probably best of 3 for articulation+looks but heavily stylized)
>>

>>6249730
That disappoints me :(

On the last note I did go to my local comic book shops and the Bombshells were in and I bought them (except Batwoman...but I might go back and get her this weekend).

Wonder Woman looks great. The face sculpt is WAAAAAY better than the actual Statue of her was. I'm happy with her, but I really want a classic looking Wonder Woman. Disappointing news.

WHY THE FUCK did they have to change the face sculpt of the DC Icons one?! Her original face was PERFECT! She would have been everything I wanted and more!
>>
>>6250297
Eh, the original Icons face was a bit thin, far from perfect.

Better than the end product, sure, but not perfect.

DCC Superman was actually really good.

Objectively speaking, It's not perfect, but it's certainly a massive step in the right direction for DCC. All DCC need to do is step up QC, Dot print the faces and give more accessories.

Increase the prices near Mafex levels, to justify the increased production costs, and boom they may undercut the Japanese imports and people will by from the better produced, dot printed and more accessories DCC

Gonna look worse on release. With yellow brows and eyes
>>
>>6251575
Those are fucking awesome, allows for a nice, deep crouch that looks more dynamic than a 45 degree basic one.
>>
>>6251523
I think the ab crunch is necessary to have the articulation it has, but it looks like its engineered better on batwoman. Great abdomen articulation is a necessity for a female figure, especially a sexy one. At least the joint separation is right under Ivy's bra unlike Harley's, which sits under her ribcage.
My real complaint is how little head articulation she gets with the hair.

>>6251514
how are the joints?

I want to get Harley, but the review from >>6247701 has me a bit worried.
>>
>>6254810
I've just got ivy
When I got her, I had to blow dry everything and wiggle them a bit. After that she was pretty loose and I did feel like she was going to break and fall over constantly, so I stuck her in the freezer for a few minutes. Now shes solid enough to hold whatever pose I put her in, but I don't feel like I'm going to break her
She pretty much has the articulation of the female DC Icons (like my favorite Icons - Harley). I think the elbows are a little gummy and look too rounded, but minor complaint. The hips work really well. She can put her legs out 90 degrees forward, and about 60 degrees to the side, so it is about the same range Icons has. Lastly her abdomen (the crunch at her hips, and the separate bust piece on a ball-joint) is awesome. It gives her a huge amount of range which I feel is necessary for a sexy figure like this. That was one thing that let me down with hasbro females.
>>
>>6254927
blow dry and freeze seems the way to go then? I don't own any of the Icons. Heck I haven't bought a DC fig since the Mattel line.

I got my Harley yesterday. There was a lot of excess paint on the hands that made the wrist joint difficult to move, but I gently wiggled them around until they moved like they're supposed to. Her bicep swivels are also very loose, but not so much that it ruins all poses. Other than those things, I don't have any problems with her, and I like her a lot.
>>
>>6254946
It's for the best but not always necessary. If a joint doesn't move with the least but of force then it's time to heat up that joint

So these guys are officially cancelled.

Hopefully DC learns their lesson, and at a time when Marvel Legends are experiencing a renaissance and have people excited about 1:12th scale, they make their next line WILDLY out of scale with anything else available and make sure to make it expensive and impossible to find.
>>
>>6257753
Honestly I don't think the line's scale was their biggest problem. It sucks they can't really interact with Marvel Legends, sure, but as long as a line is in scale with itself that's technically fine, you can't really complain too much about it.

I personally think it's the lack of what is now considered basic articulation for a collectable toy line that did them in. Only a couple figures had thigh cuts, and they were handled horribly. I liked what they did for torso articulation in theory, but in practice it didn't actually do much at all.

Then you've got characters like Batgirl and Cyborg, who people might have wanted on their own but were only sold as deluxe packs with a large accessory that a lot of people probably weren't too interested in spending the money for.

Also the accessory packs were pretty bogus.

Not just MLs, also completely out of scale with DCUC figs. If you can't justify buying the deluxe set with Cyborg, you can't use the DCUC one as a stand-in. You can't buy DC Icons to fill out missing characters in your DCUC collection. They're not even compatible with the old DCC line that was about a head to tall to fit in with anything else.

In today's economy, asking collectors to shell out $30 a figure for a brand new scale that'll probably just get cancelled within a year or two (and looks like it indeed is) is dumb.
>>
>>6257787
>>6257799
Meanwhile I picked up Old Man Logan from Target for $20. Great sculpt, (mostly?) unique pieces, great articulation.

But instead, I could spend $10 more and buy what looks like a lanky teenager cosplaying Batman.

I agree about the articulation as well. I don't understand why DCC insists on using the shitty ankle rockers they do. The angle they're at makes them look awful if they're anything but pointed straight ahead.
>>
>>6257753
really disappointed at Sinestro being cancelled.

Also, REALLY stupid that they are cancelling Shazam after already releasing Black Adam.

So what will be the line to replace this?

Maybe with the movie toys, but the DC comic stuff has generally gone from proto to toy pretty well in the near 10 years Mattel has been making them. The recent King Shark wave is probably the best Proto-to-Final they've ever done. DKR Joker turned out incredibly well.

>>
>>6257808
DC films line is cancelled, there hasn't been much announced regarding the artist-centric lines, and I haven't seen many Batman Animated figures recently.

DCC is shutting a lot of lines down all at once.
>>
>>6258414
The Batman Animated stuff is moving to sets...so it's basically done. BTAS Batgirl is the last single. Then it's a $150 5-pack, a $150 Batcave set with Alfred, and a Joker expressions pack that'll lose accessories, break $55, or both by the time it's released in 2018. That's it.
>>
Is DCC parting away from articulated stuff? I would be sad but this could means other companies may get a hold of some rights for the characters
I think comic appearances are fairly more popular than Cinematic stuff and DCC and Mattel have that shit on lock

>Old Man Logan from Target for $20
>out of scale with his younger self
>barely any paint
>no real accessories
>lack luster articulation
You know how many of us ML collectors always talk about spending more bucks if they included more paint apps and more accessories?
That's what Icons were.

The scale is probably the only bad thing going for SOME of them, but MLs have been out of scale too.
You really can't expect different lines to be in scale with one another.
Even Hasbro is like that, with their GI Joes, Star Wars, Indiana Jones, and early Marvel lines. Only their GI Joe and MU lines ever got into scale with one another.
Their ML line was all over the place with scale too, with sizes going up and down, up and down, depending on the wave.

> They're not even compatible with the old DCC line that was about a head to tall to fit in with anything else
Either you're confusing DCC with Mattel or don't realize that DCC makes various lines in different scales, usually like NECA does with ~7 figures.

Sadly it isn't. It's alright as a display piece, but the articulation is useless since it's the old style DCD used to give their figures. Even then, the helmet is really undersized and fits better on 6" body.

Anyone know if the Batman, Flash, & Wonder Woman from Darwyn Cooke's DC Designer line are just repainted versions of the same figures from the old DC: The New Frontier line? Always wanted the Wonder Woman from that line, but the single release one had that screaming face; only the later released 4 pack had a normal face, & I think a slightly different costume.

And did they ever release that Adam Strange? Never saw it in comic shops, but did see the other figures from the same wave.

>Harley Quinn
>Feminist icon

Wait, what?

People do realize that Harley is in an abusive relationship that she constantly comes back to, right? And that she's a homicidal maniac with no value on human life, right? And even before she met Joker, she was a dumb bimbo who slept her way to the top, right? Her goal getting into to Arkham as a psychologist was to write a tell-all best seller, not helping criminals with their mental problems, right?

Why on earth would anybody consider that clown slut a "feminist icon?"
>>
>>6295382

People will overlook all kinds of shit like her being a murderer, especially after Suicide Squad's version buried any and all of the usual abusive relationship stuff and made them a proper Bonnie and Clyde type duo.
>>
>>6295382
>Why on earth would anybody consider that clown slut a "feminist icon?"

because she dresses like a whore now, and that's as much thought as any of them put into the franchise when deciding if they like it or not
>>
>>6295382
She's a popular female supervillain/anti-hero who has an on and off sexual relationship with another female supervillain so they're willing to overlook all her wrongdoing to make her nothing more than an abused woobie who overcomes her abusive relationship to become a womyn loving womyn.
>>
>>6295444
>especially after Suicide Squad's version buried any and all of the usual abusive relationship stuff

But they didnt do that at all, they made the abuse pretty clear. They just also emphasized that, on some level, Joker does indeed care about her. Whether just as his property or genuinely is unclear and always shifting, but even Dini, Harley's creator, has Joker genuinely liking being with Harley.

I think it looks okay for a $20-30 figure, especially since it comes with decent accessories and the problems are pretty much entirely on the figure's head. I don't know why but people around here really latch onto stuff when it comes to certain toy lines.

I'm so happy.

It's not without issues, but it came out way better than I expected. First One:12 for me. I could do without all of the packaging..if they'd transfer that cost over to the soft goods, the whole figure would work out better. As is, I had to pop the cape's wire back into the fabric right out of the box. The white fabric of the cape is suitable, and shiny, but it's just thick costume fabric. It'd work a lot better as microfiber.

Also, I can't get the right shoulder to rotate forward. My usual solution is to dunk the figure in super hot water, but that won't work through the fabric. And I'm scared to get this hot in case I fuck up that fabric. Any tips?

I love it too. I can't believe we got a Captain Marvel figure this nice.

If I were to fill out my Marvel family, which line should I get, DC Select or DC Universe? I'm thinking DCU since the DC Selects, while really nice to look at, are rather lacking in articulation.
>>
>>6302904
Yeah, but that also depends on what you're after. If you're just going to keep the One:12 CM as your main, then you probably want to aim for a combination of good sculpt and scale if you're choosing from different lines.

I don't think I'd put another DCUC figure like Mary or Jr. next to the One:12 because they'd look too drastically different. But then, I'm a Marvel Legends collector and I have the One:12 CM dead center on my shelf now.

Anyone have trouble with counterfeits on Solaris Japan in the past, they have the mafex BvS Batman for $20+shipping and I wanted to know if it was too good to be true?
>>
>>6303362
That price seems really low, but then again I've never heard of bootleg BvS figures, since they usually only bootleg stuff that goes for a lot of money or is rare. They really mass-produced the Mafex BvS stuff, so it's possible they have way too many. I've only ordered a few figures from Solaris, and they've always been genuine.

Got it up with a little effort. The fabric really limits the shoulders' range, but that's ok. SHF GoD Bruce is now a stand-in for Kid Flash, btw.
>>
>>6302924
It's tough because while the DCUC figures are kinda lousy in terms of sculpt, I know exactly what I'm getting articulation-wise, whereas the DC Selects look much better but I can only make an educated guess about the kind of articulation they have. I read a review online that said Mary has ball-jointed shoulders and hips, but who knows if it's true, short of buying one online and taking a look myself.

Maybe there's a third option I don't know about?
>>

Dude, could you answer a couple questions?

>Does it have boot cut swivel?
>How's the crotch area? I've seen some that have cholo pants, way too much fabric on that area.
>Does the lightning feel like it could peel off?
>Is the belt attached all around, or could it be separated to move it lower?
And...
>do you have pics in vanilla poses?

Thanks in advance. I can't wait for mine.
>>
>>6305546
>Does it have boot cut swivel?
No. I've tried. The left boot on mine is off-center and it won't budge. To compensate, the ankles are a vertical peg with a ball-and-socket joint going straight into the foot.
>How's the crotch area? I've seen some that have cholo pants, way too much fabric on that area.
It's actually really great--the fabric being too tight at the shoulders, and thus a problem, is actually a blessing for the crotch.
>Does the lightning feel like it could peel off?
Not really? The top left looks a little loose, but this is screen printed down, so it wouldn't come off unless you were to somehow shrink the polyester fabric. There is blowout around some edges of mine's emblem, which is 100% bullshit. As I mentioned before, they could reduce packaging costs and put that money into soft goods--namely finding a better vendor to print the screens.
>Is the belt attached all around, or could it be separated to move it lower?
It's attached, which is a bummer. Once you tilt the torso back, it looks like he's high-waisted.

None of these detractors are dealbreakers for me, since this is the best 6" Cap we're likely ever to get. The $75 price tag ($88 and change after tax and shipping) was hard for me to swallow, but I'm still happy. I'll take some pictures over the next few days. Might have to start a new DC General at that point.

>>6305368
Be leery of people using the term ball-joint since that's really two swivels and a cut. DCC tends to cheap on this motif by removing what would be the cut at the top of the shoulder, or at the top of the thigh.

So I fiddled with the boots and got them a little unstuck--just enough to make a difference.

That belt is glu d down to the suit as best I can tell, and I don't want to mess with it. And allergies have my eyes all fucked up and blurry, but I just noticed the chest emblem is NOT screen printed, and is instead like an iron on patch or something. Because it's peeling off at the top corner. Pretty pissed about that now, more than when I thought it was a dodgy print. It's even got some frayed threads on the straight lines.
