I got this recently as well, the big flower crown looked oddly big when I put it on her head but overall she's ok for a post-reboot doll. Rochelle's my favorite recurring character so its nice when she gets decent dolls. First doll I've gotten where the the purse handles small enough to have to take her hand off to get it on, which is fine cause its a pain to pose them with it and not have it fall off their hands if the shelf shakes.

It's horrendously busy, bad color coordination, those shoes stick out like an ugly sore thumb, the pattern on the dress is hideous, the dark colored fur is an odd choice and too busy on the skirt, and I get what they're doing with the mammoth head and bone but it just stands out awkwardly when nothing else matches them, and really they should have just gave her regular eyebrows

I love the idea of her having fur on her dress, I love the idea of the mammoth and bone, and fun face paint, but it's like they had a decent idea going but horrible execution

I like the theme of the adult collector dolls so far where the ghouls are supposed to be wearing clothes closer to their origins (kind of like Draculaura and Skelita) but this is a mess. Fur on her dress? Love that idea. Mammoth motif to match Shiver? Cute! None of that is shown here though. Dark fur clashes with the lighter colors, Mattel is still on their crimped hair spree, her makeup is odd - it's just all over the place. They piled all of these fun ideas onto her without actually trying to make them work together cohesively.

I think the big problem with giving characters like Iris and Gilda dolls is that it gets everyone's hopes up. It's another character and then people love it and want another one. But they're not exactly core characters so Mattel decides to use certain dolls over others. EAH got into the same problem or at least started to. Faybelle had two or three different chances for a new doll, one being her Epic Winter outfit and she got passed up for Apple who wasn't even a major character for it and had a watered down version of her outfit. They make so many characters but don't keep up with the demand for them.

Acrylics are fine to use, just don't go too cheap on them. Just remember to water them down and layer them thinly. It'll take a while to get it solid, but it's worth it. If you're planning on using gloss over the yes and lips, that helps even out any ridges from the paint/brush you might have.

I got the digital PS3 version on a sale for 5, it loads fast but I got a bit overwhelmed by the quest system, even a character said "wow why are you joining all the clubs, can you handle it?" and I was like, no I can't but every character I talk to gets me into one!

Post anyways. Your first faceup is always shit. ALWAYS. We all know this because we've all been there. Yes, we're going to be harsh, but your next face up will be 100% better if you take the criticism to heart. We're also fair and will tell you like is, unlike most doll forums.

No. Use Q-tips. They're smaller for better detail on small dolls. Also they're disposable. Reusing makeup brushes again & again will get remeant pastel colors in the bristles, no matter how good you clean them. This causes your colors to get muddied. With Q-tips, you can use one for one color, dispose, use another Q-tip for another color. Etc.

You haven't mentioned watercolor pencils. Do you have them? They're used to make hard lines, like eyebrows & eyelashes. A must-have if you're doing face ups.

Okay, now that's out of the way, for your first faceup, it's not bad. I've seen worse, shitty pentagram aside. Eyebrows are good. Eyelashes are good too. It looks like you've stopped halfway on doing the lips, but they look promising. Remember to hit them up with a clear gloss to wet'em up and make them shine.

Onto the bad... THIN YOUR PAINTS. This is such a common beginner mistake across all hobby painting. Seriously, thin your paints. the white in the eyeball & highlight looks uneven & globby. Better to do several layers of thin color than one thick layer that looks like shit.

Second, get rid of the black eye. It's not dark & edgy. It screams "I can't make the pupils to match looking in one direction without them looking derp'ed, so I painted one in glossy black and called it a day. So goffic!" There's no painted edge indicating that the eye is missing from the socket. And obviously there's a eye bulge where there should be an indent.

Also, those black lines running down from her eye are thick, splotchy, and dumb. Redo them in watercolor pencil and hit them up with some pastels for shading to make them like spider webs, porcelain cracks, etc. rather than a tragic accident at the mascara factory.

Pentagrams & empty eye sockets tell the world that you're just a rebellious teenager who turns the heavy metal up when your parents complain that it's too loud. Do some simple google research into runes & shit. Plan out the design beforehand, and for God's sake, use several colors of watercolor pencils instead of just thick black paint.

Not bad for a first shot! The eyebrows look pretty good, and the lashes look pretty alright (I still really struggle with those.) The iris and pupil look really soft, which I like. Lips are a good start, though the fade needs a bit of work, if you used the pastels I can see it being troublesome. (bonus points for not blushing everything like crazy.)

Also when you think your paints, you want them to almost pretty watery. You can always thicken it with more paint if you put in too much water/thinner.

I like her. That costume is also more interesting than her regular clothes figure. Mine's packed away at the moment, but if I remember correctly, the red corset piece comes off and the black part is a bodysuit thing.
