A few years ago...
>Mother: "Anon, hunny. You seem to have a lot of action figures these days. You're not pretending to build an army to kill your dad and me, are you?"
>mfw
Later last year...
>Mother: "Hey anon, have you heard of Fidget Cubes? Hey say they're all rage with autistic people including adults."
>mfw again.
I mean, appreciate her thinking/worrying about me. But Christ...

Stuff that normal kids enjoyed back in the 90's including me are considered autistic toys now. I guess if you're 2 and you can't use an iPad you're automatically considered an autistic person now huh?

Sign of the times, right?

I'm happy that now it's more normalized to fidget with things. That doesn't stop all the years I've spent picking on my hands instead of fidgeting with keychains and stuff that were taken from me for "not paying attention."
>>6236169
Is having a constantly furrowed brow an autism thing? I have a coworker that does that among other autistic things, my coworkers and I suspect he's on the spectrum.
>>6230668
I probably don't have autism but I want one and hope my mummy buys it for me. I'll even spend by GBP if I have to.
>>6238279
You can get those from ebay fairly cheap from chinese sellers.
I actually purchased this set recently. I like to fidget a lot and unlike most things I don't have to worry about it breaking on me for overuse.

>6 weeks of in house training at a new job to learn about the software and government regualations and stuff
>some of that new age bullshit learning theory that some people are kinesthetic learners so this means they should be allowed to fidget during class
>teacher would give out a new toy every day
>pom pom pens, those little suction cup jumpers, squishy things, stretchy hands, bouncy balls, all that shit you get from oriental trading
>I just end up distracted and playing with toys through class
>take a test at the end
>well shit...I didn't retain anything
this was one of those "Ethical" "fun" companies that treat employees like 6 year olds by giving us a never ending supply of cake and icecream and gifts with the company logo on them like car chargers and backpacks, or gift cards which I always just redeemed for cash
>>6238395
I have a glow in the dark one from years back. It's super fun to pop the joints apart and back together
>>6237993
I was like that too, remember mom telling her friends how at the Parent Teacher conference that my teachers admitted to her they tried to put a stop to my doodling and origami folding in classes by humilating me by having me answer the questions all the time and show to the entire class that I wasn't paying attention. It backfired and left them stunned that I always knew the answer, despite not bothering to look at them.
