What an abominable piece of shit. It's barely above the level of a Hasbro figure. I've been feeling for a while that the Star Wars line's quality has been falling off a cliff compared to the earlier releases and this just confirms it for me.

Han sure is getting a lot of hate. I'm really happy with him, could have done with an extra face but apart from that he's spot on. Not that much more expensive than the black series on the aftermarket too, and the quality is leagues above.

I disagree, the shore trooper is my least favourite of the Rogue one trooper designs, the colours just don't do anything for me. If there was a white variant I'd be interested. Also I've never played final fantasy or consumed any other form of its related media so I'm not sure what you mean.

Honestly...the line was always crap in my opinion. Yeah the face printing was good and all but some of the expression they chose were questionable. The articulation has been mediocre for a while when held up to usual SHF standards. Accessory wise they are pretty bare bones.

In my opinion Darth Maul is still one of the best releases in the line to this day. The expressions they chose for him are powerful, menacing and appropriate. The accessories he comes with are decent enough and his articulation is pretty good. SHF is no doubt better than Black but the character choice is less and the prices are WAY higher.

IMO the japanese reviews have made me very happy with my purchase (didn't arrive yet); but if there's been batches with paint mishapps I'm gonna get worried because the fact that it only has one head (its one big flaw) makes it impossible to overlook.

The weathering is actually what drew me to the figure initially. It's cartoony looking, if that's the appropriate way to describe it, it has a sharp crisp look that you wouldn't get with traditional weathering. As long as the one I get isn't too globby in areas like the boots and gauntlets, I think I'll be happy with him.

Some people just seem to want to hate on recent Figuarts. I didn't notice any issues with mine, face or otherwise, with the paint or anything else. The closest thing to an issue is how the holster swapping works, since it pegs into the leg and that can make it pop loose while posing.

I don't know why they didn't make the holster just peg onto the strap instead of going into the leg, maybe to stop it flopping around but that doesn't seem like it'd be an issue compared to it popping off all the time.

With a bit of weathering and panel lining it'd probably look okay, but the sculpt is very mushy compared to the figuarts, which is okay considering the different price points, but I'd rather pay more for the better figure than settle for this.

Here's a tip for all those people who bought/ are planning to buy the ramenman figuarts: in order to remove the braid from the default head, don't pull on it; get a small plastic rod, put it in the hole on the bottom ( the one used to fit the head on the peg on the neck) and push it through

Face printing is a meme. It doesn't make up for bad decisions in the print itself and it doesn't even stop QC issues from happening like some people say. I maintain my position that a lot of the facial expressions they've chosen have been piss poor since Darth Maul. He and Bruce Lee are probably the best examples of choosing the right print to apply. Mace Windu is up there too.

The lips being misaligned on Harley and some of the questionable faces they've chosen have really soured my mood on this technology. It looks shit in any kind of up close photos and it's not even solving all the QC issues. I mean they look better than hand painting would get us but for fuck sake this Qui Gon is a disaster.

It's another round of price hikes that are basically going to affect every Japanese line. Max Factory is currently in the process of raising prices, looks like it will be affecting Bandai stuff too. Kaiyodo hasn't raised them yet but I would be surprised if they didn't. Medicos already had huge price hikes and if they go up even more I will laugh (cry) hard.

I would hardly call it "poorfagging" when most these lines are moving toward -or are already at- the $70-80+ per standard figure price point. The value just isn't there anymore and so collectors have become much more selective about what they buy. Japanese collectors are literally paying 3x what they used to and it's getting close to 4x now. I say this as someone who was comfortable spending $5000+ a year back when average prices were around $30-50. Hell, I own tons of stuff purely because it looks cool and to this day still don't know jack about the IP.

Cut to today and i'm struggling to pull the trigger on figma Gwendolyn DX (aka, only version that should exist) because she is fucking $120 and comes with no more than a $50-60 release would have 3 years ago. I love Odin Sphere and have an even greater love for George Kamitani's designs/art but I feel totally ripped off despite having unfettered access to the GSC web shop. If she was available through standard retailers like AmiAmi/HLJ she'd only be $80-ish shipped. I think if Bandai opened itself globally it'd be nice but the figures would still cost more than normal which sucks with rising prices.

I honestly don't get it. They are objectively the best SF figures on the market in terms of articulation, sculpt, paint and accessories. All the effect parts thus far have been great and Cammy's looks amazing. The sample review of Ryu and Chun Li should have put an end to this whining. They are able to get into just about any pose you'd want them in.

Most the complaints seem to be coming in the form of "it's not SFV proportions" but if you want that there is literally a line releasing SFV accurate stuff right now, Storm Collectibles. Chun Li was just shown off (artwork, no prototype yet) so stick with that line if you prefer it. The Ryu wasn't perfect (skin going over bandana instead of just eyebrows, can't hit some poses without camera trickery and rubber neck may deteriorate over time) but it was certainly decent enough for those with a stick up their ass about SFV accuracy.

These SHF are for people who want figures that could fit into any display. A classic display, a MvC display, a SF4/SFV display, an UDON display or an anime display. For people who want to hit all the poses perfectly and for people who want Bandai quality effect parts/QC.

Articulation, yes, but sculpt, paint, and accessories could be argued.
I feel like the Storm Collectibles SF figures have sculpt because they follow the SFV character models very well. But yeah if you're just looking at the characters in a more broad sense, the SHFs look better, since the SFV models are super buff. Also there's more detail in the muscle definition than the SHF.
For paint, I think Storm Collectibles is better here, there's lots of shading and details in Ryu's gi, I've always been kind of turned off by the one-tone SHF anime style shading aside from the one shade of grey on the leg parts. The paint just looks basic to me, might be because I really like the details and shadings of the SFV models.
For accessories, again, SC Ryu has 3 faces while SHF Ryu has 2, and the number of hands might be the same if I'm not wrong.
But overall yes SHF has better articulation.
I prefer SC Ryu because of the the SFV likeness, more detailed sculpt, varied paint, and also the fact that we can remove his upper half gi. It just adds pose-ability imo. And also I've never seen Ryu's appearance as a basic one-tone anime character.

They've been doing AOTC and ANH recently, and I don't think either have much left to release besides ANH Obi-Wan and some clone and droid variants.

You're wrong about a few things.

There is actually subtle shading all over Ryu and Chun Li, it's just not as heavy handed like you seem to prefer. In the lower light photos of the sample review you can see shading on his gloves, various parts of the gi and on his skin. Chun Li has none on the skin (lack of muscles to justify it) but does have it on her legs, boots and dress.

There is two types of musculature being depicted here so it's not fair to say one is better than the other. SC is going for a more bulky veiny look while the SHF is going for a tightly toned muscle look. If you actually compare the sculpts directly the SHF does have more MUSCLE detail but is obviously lacking any kind of vein work.

It has three faces but 4 hands. It's the only SHF with 4 hands instead of 6 for whatever reason.

Honestly the biggest issue with the SC to me is the face for Ryu (see pic). They designed it in a way where skin overlaps the bandana which looks dumb as hell once you notice it. Eyebrows going over hair/bandanas has been a Japan thing for a while and the SHF nails it in comparison. Even without the gi on the SC it can't do a proper hadoken and doesn't get much extra range than the SHF which gets a lot of range out of it's lower torso joint. I think the biggest thing worth worrying about is the use of rubber on the neck because it adds nothing (actually causes articulation to snap backwards) and SC 1/6 stuff has had bad cracking issues after a year or two. It won't get stressed as much compared to rubber limbs but it's still an odd choice.

I've been buying revoltechs since the start though and I can say it does range from 2x-3x the price now... at the same time, modern revos are much bigger and comes with a lot of accessories still.

It has gotten more expensive. Strangely, lines like SIC where I've been buying it since the start as well, haven't really went up that crazy in price...

The lack of pegholes really fucking annoys me. I hate using the claw more than anything, it's visually distracting and comes loose far too easily. I don't know why Bandai thought a small peghole on the back would be more distracting than a big fucking clear crab claw clamped around the figure's waist or thigh.

I find it the opposite. I find pegholes in the back the worst because if you have a small figure then you end up with a stand that takes up too much space at the back. I found the claw set up easier to work around figures regardless of height since it can be used on any part of the figure.

Both types have their benefits though.

Honestly it looks amazing. The series was a big letdown for me (I expected much more than mediocre for a remake that received great reviews), but I loved the character designs (they weren't afraid to go really sexy) and since there are too few releases involving sci-fi pilots/similar stuff I'll try to get her.

Looks like Chun-Li soldout on Amiami which kinda surprised me since I hardly see anymore an S.H. Figuarts soldout on preorders except for Toku stuff before its release date.

She in now only available for preorder at HLJ.

Still on the fence on Rashid, I don't want him but the completionist in me tells me to get him. Also doesn't help that I want the line to succeed so I need to support the line so other characters will be made. I hope Rashid's low sales number doesn't relagate the line into exclusives.

My main problems with Cammy are probably stupid to most but it's that she's missing here cammo leg paint and she looks a bit buff. I prefer SFII Cammy that has the slimmer gymnast like proportions.

So is the Ranma line doing well? I'd love to see a new Shampoo with a more iconic outfit and better hair, I only bought the current one since it might be the best figure we'll ever get for her. And I'm sorry to the Moose fans but I'm pretty sure it's more likely we'll get more female ranma/Shampoo variants than the rest of the ranma cast.
