Mostly a Decepticon collector here. Not that I dislike Autobots...it's just that they are wussy sports cars and Optimus is 90% of the time that same fucking truck.

How many want more military or monster looking Autobots?

I did like Bay's Wreckers and I bought Wheel-Jack from Prime because hes just so fucking uncouth.
>>
>>6228920

TR has been pretty good on that front, giving us the Headmaster's (tank, heli/VTOL/whatever, spacefighter), and Doublecross.
>>
>>6228920
I'm okay with autobots getting military vehicles but I still like autobots and decepticons being separated into civilian vehicles and military vehicles like in G1.
I just wish every other autobot wasn't a fucking car, though.
>>
Well, fuck.

I've been out of TFs for a few years now and I came back to find it in shambles (at least IMO). Deluxes now cost twice as much, the transformations are simple as shit, limbs are hollow, and articulation has gone down the tubes. I threw up my hands and said fuck that, I'm out again. But today I happened to see Chromedome. And Chromedome is and always has been my boy, so I got him despite my misgivings about the line. And fucking shit. I kinda like him. I still don't think these things are worth $20 a pop, and my annoyances still stand, but I gotta admit there's some value here and I'm willing to give the line another shot now.

tl;dr: anyone wanna sell me a Weirdwolf?
>>

>Deluxes now cost twice as much, the transformations are simple as shit, limbs are hollow, and articulation has gone down the tubes.

Generations hit the point common kids weren't able to transform the toys, or transform them without breaking them. Therefore they got dumbed down. You'd think the more simple engineering would ensure more molds, but no, redeco-exhaustion is quite heavy right now.

It's a shame really, they had some great figures during that period.

Compare Generations Scourge to Titans Return Scourge, or Generations Voyager Springer to Titans Return Galvatron.

>Articulation's better than ever
Oh is it now? Funny, when I was last buying Transformers I seem to recall instances of bicep swivels, double elbows or knees, ankle rockers, wrist swivels, etc. This was around the time of CHUG/ROTF. To me it seems like most of the Titans Return deluxes follow a very similar articulation model, and it's pretty basic.

>>6229034
So because G1 was hollow, we should keep perpetuating that design flaw forever? Nonsense. Again, before I quit TFs I remember problems like hollow forearms being solved by simple things like hinged forearm panels. It seems insulting that figures cost more now and we're getting less.
>>
>>6229030
>. I still don't think these things are worth $20
Where are you buying them for $20? My local Target sells deluxes for $15 and voyagers for $22.
>>
>>6229042
>It seems insulting that figures cost more now and we're getting less.

Compare the buying power of $15 20 years ago to today. If Hasbro did that you would be paying about $40 per deluxe easy.
>>
>>6229042
it should be noted Titans Return has had some piss poor quality control, tons of design flaws (try getting Skullsmasher to stand in any way other than straight and stiff) and the titan master gimmick sucks since most of the time they don't peg in right or wobble like they're having a seizure.
>>
>>6229039
They should made that toy 80% ball joints so people could masturbate to the articulation.

Then again it was a shit toy and the Takara was only a tad better but when you're working with a shit design only so much can be done.

I got him from some random TRU I've never visited before. This may have been my fault then, I've heard TRUs in rich neighborhoods sometimes pricehike and I'm obviously out of the loop as to what they should cost cause I haven't bought TFs in a while. It was sort of an impulse buy cause I haven't ever seen Chromedome on the rack before.

>>6229049
Yeah, I'm kinda having a problem with that. His head feels a little loose and if I shake him back and forth he bobbleheads a bit.
>>
>>6229042
Yes, let's all go back to the days where elbows and knees were placed way too high.
>>
>>6229055
That's not uncommon, most Titans Return figures don't really do the head gimmick very well.

It's more difficult than it should be just to plug Hot Rod's head in, half the time it tries to go in sideways.

I only ever had Blurr, and his articulation was awful.
>>
>>6229064
Well, how old are you talking? Like Bayformers and Classics old? Or like G1 old? The later obviously has fucked proportions on a LOT of things, but I think I didn't have significant problems with the proportions of most modern-ish TFs.
>>
>>6229065
Well considering Coharada is a deluxe, having a lot of ball joints is not a bad thing since he is light as shit.

Armada was a huge step back. Apparently the new design team had no experience with transformers, or so I've heard.

I have yet to find one. Won't army build him but I would love to see a Grimlock and Sharkicon diorama! Shoot it under the sink for atmosphere!

Gonna make a squad of the Mini Cyclonus of at least 4. you know "...and his armada!" Not so sure about the big one. Looks lanky without a feel of "Freight Train" tough like Lugnut. Funny thing is I really like the Legion RID of Starscream but hated the deluxe.

I am a Cyclonus collector but this one makes me sad.
>>
>>6229068
It was due to the excessive amount of complicating transformations coming from the team that did RID200 for the new molds. I feel sorry for the kids that had sideburn and x brawn even to this day those 2 piss me off.

Armada was in the planning stages for quite awhile and was designed first and foremost to be kid approachable compared to BW/RID shell forming and folding flaps everywhere.
>>
>>6228691
Three is enough for me, I don't need a whored of them and I have G1 shark as well as all the 3rd party offerings so I have 11 sharks in total, I'm sure more sharks would be made by someone in the future so I'll wait on them to add more diversity to my shiver.
>>
>>6228948

Speaking of alt modes, I always found it odd that the Decepticons were the ones that got the team of construction vehicles while the Autobots got the one made up of huge honkin metal dinosaurs. You'd have thought it would be the other way around.
>>
>>6229081
> I feel sorry for the kids that had sideburn and x brawn even to this day those 2 piss me off.

I got them when I was 9 and I was able to transform them just fine. Transformers should be toys for patient and smart kids. Hasbro ducked up by trying to appeal to everyone.

Okay anyone who has masterpiece cheetor I could use a hand. So transforming him for the first time I did the legs and was ready to deploy the feet of the robot mode, the diagram said they would sit flat, so I tried and got a lot of resistance, so I pushed a little harder and then I heard a click and they looked right but then I noticed there were two little tabs between the foot and the ankle on the joint itself, and after putting the feet in the correct position they got smushed down and flattened out.

This worries me, were the tabs sacrificial or did I just not know how to tab properly?

Because I see no other way I could have got the feet to sit flat if I didn't force them flat.
>>
>>6229032
>Articulation's better than ever
I don't see ankle and wrist articulation on deluxes (FOC Prime/Magnus, RTS Jazz, TFP Wheeljack, CHUG Sideswipe, etc.)

>Even G1 were hollow as fuck
Except for almost the entirety of the brand's history that hollowness was hidden. TR Optimus and Octane are big offenders.
>>
>>6229258
>I don't see ankle and wrist articulation on deluxes
Because every single Transformer back then had those joints, right? They show up in the same quantity now as they did then.
>>
>>6229261
>They show up in the same quantity now as they did then.

Really now?

RTS new mold wrist articulation, off the top of my head:
>Laser Prime
>Jazz
>Wreck-gar
>Tracks

RTS new mold ankle articulation, off the top of my head:
>Laser Prime
>Jazz
>Lugnut
>Tracks

TR new mold wrist articulation, off the top of my head:
>Blurr and his remolds

TR new mold ankle articulation, off the top of my head:
>Six Shot
>>
>>6229261
Do they though? I'm scanning my deluxes from back in the day and I can see a lot with ankle rockers and/or wrist swivels. Hound, Red Alert/Sideswipe/Sunstreaker, Prowl/Bluestreak, Dinobot, Mirage/Fracture, Inferno/Grapple, Galvatron, Ratchet/Ironhide, Wheeljack/Tracks, Perceptor, Scourge, G2 Prime, Kup, Wreck-Gar, Roadbuster, that guy with the pickaxe I forget the name of...

You get my point. I could keep going even, I just got bored. To my knowledge, (and please, correct me if I'm wrong) the only Titans Return deluxe with ankle rockers is Weirdwolf. And again, please correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think any of them have wrist swivels. I wouldn't exactly call these numbers occuring "in the same quantity now as they did then."
>>
>>6229266
You're comparing a list of toys spanning over five years to just Titans Return. Bit biased.
>>
>>6229245

>>
>>6229264
TR Waist articulation:
>Weirdwolf
>Mindwipe
>Skullcruncher
>Blurr and Chromedome molds

Ankles:
>Sixshot
>Soundwave
>Doublecross/Twinferno
>Weirdwolf
>>
>>6229310
He uh, he said wrist, just thought I'd point that out, I make the same mistake sometimes too.
>>
>>6229315
Fuck you're right hold on.
On that front, all I can add is Doubleferno, even if he doesn't have the articulation most people would say he needs.
>>
>>6229264
>ankle articulation
>>Jazz

He doesn't have it.

Scourge, Highbrow and Hardhead have wrists, Weirdwolf, mindwipe and all the leader except Prime have ankles.
>>
So what lines, teams and characters will Power of the Primes cover?
I mean Primal is obvious, I can see the finalist getting new toys too, and there's always the obligatory Optimus, Megatron and Bumblebee/Rodimus.
>>
>>6229328
Scourge and Highbrow don't have wrists. Also they're remolds of each other.
>>
>>6229329
>obligatory Optimus, Megatron and Bumblebee/Rodimus.

>>
>>6229088
>Transformers should be toys for patient and smart kids

Well they fucked up by selling them to tard smashing, american heathens.
>>
>>6229332
Well, technically they have wrist movement, but it's not a dedicated joint.
>>
>>6229282
Well, he's the one who said "back then." And anyway, I wasn't trying to compare numbers, of course CHUGURTS is gonna win in that case by sheer merit of running for longer. I meant more of a ratio thing, (especially since he said "in the same quantity"), so it would be a fair fight.
>>
>>6229328
It's pretty easy to mistake Jazz for having ankle rockers since his feet are molded at a slight angle to allow him wide poses. Same deal as Generations Springer. I wish more TFs would do this honestly, especially if they're not gonna give us real ankle rockers anymore. I don't remember the angled feet causing any problems, and they made wide poses look better.
>>
>>6229345
>I don't remember the angled feet causing any problems
Rare, but there have been cases where a figure has two of the same feet. Personally I think a-stance feet look terrible. If you are going to go to thr effort of molding two separate pieces, just make them rockers in the first place.
>>
>>6229345
Hardhead and Triggerhappy do it, not sure if Chromedome too.
>>
>>6229338
We're looking for wrist swivels, not wrist breakers.
>>
>>6229068

I feel like since Transformers are marketed towards literal babies in Japan, and the entirety of Unicron Trilogy being just Takara's work with fuck all involvement from Hasbro they just tailed it to their 3-5 year old population as opposed to 9-13 yo American population.
>>
>>6229353
Feet are always molded as two separate pieces, even if they're identical.

>>
>>6229345
Angled feet tend to hinder straight-legged or flat footed poses and making a figure stand on one foot can be nearly impossible. TR hardhead can't stand with his legs straight because of the shape of his feet.

I honestly dislike them for this reason, I'd rather they be flat even if they aren't properly touching the ground in spread poses.

Fuck, nevermind.

So I made an important discovery about MP Cheetor: His hands are removable.

Now no doubt they've done this to make things easier to articulate them considering the substantial arm-kibble, but the pegs his hands are on LOOKED like 5mm pegs.

Well unfortunately they're actually aproximately 4.5mm pegs, so there will be no drill-hand Cheetor today.

I still think it would have been cool if the TR titan master head was IDW based, hell you could do it easily if you keep the robot mode arms sticking out and paint the arms the right colour.

Attention all hamhands, be careful with MP Cheetor's crotchplate.

I was trying to see if I could get him back to beast mode by memory and unwittingly turned the crotchplate back too far on its hinge (here it is in beast mode), which put pressure on the joint and cracked the plastic.

The joint is still sturdy and it didn't actually break fully (thank fuck), but this is definitely something to be careful with. Until you get everything in place that hinge certainly looks like it can go further than it's supposed to.

Also, because someone in a previous thread was curious about the whiskers and how they could be potentially bent or damaged, I decided to try taking apart a head and see how replaceable they are.

And yeah, the head comes apart like lego and the whiskers are just three lines tied together. Replacing them would be so easy that they're practically a non-issue.

>>6229796
I wouldn't exactly call it an issue, but it's certainly a design flaw. There really isn't a reason to stop it from turning too far, especially considering it can break if you force it to.
>>
>>6228681
That's not too bad at all. I was dreading looking at it, thinking I was looking at another "gestalt" with vehicles glued onto a Metroplex that's been cut up for it's limbs.
I mean, silver + gold is objectionable, but that's just my opinion and apparently not a widely held one. Other than that the color scheme is pretty decent. Nothing gaudy or dull. Maybe it's a little bad that it looks like every color is used on almost every part so there's very little variety.
>>
>>6229812
That's more or less what I was thinking. It's biggest issue is the fact that a Metroplex was sacrificed to make it.
>>
Finally got a TR Megatron head so I could put the head plate on the Nucleon body.

Tips for those doing that:

-Use the screw from Doomshot, the Nucleon screw is way longer.
-Due to the way the Megatron face plate is made, Nucleon's head will end up loose. Add some card stock ,or anything you can jam into the space on the face plate that aligns with the TM ball joint (it's two vertical downward lines).

After that, you should have a TM with Megatrons body, and faceplate.
>>
>>6229820
That's what I was thinking the cost to make that demands either the idea is gold or the outcome is near perfect becuase that's a lot to pay just to ruin it
>>
>>6229822
Oh, and after getting Megatron, I can say that It's a shame we don't have a new Reverse Convoy.

You could easily sell a repaint, or retooled Hardhead with a Reverse Convoy face, and turn him into Megatron with your TR Megatron TM.

I love CHUG, but they didn't all spot full articulation. At least, not until the ROTF-Era, because that's when Transformers seemed to get the most budget. It was also pre-worldwide petroleum shortage.

Lesse, Voyager Prime's my standard for points of articulation. Lacks ankles but otherwise fully articulated. Still, let's stick to Deluxes. Also, these are off the top of my head, so I might be getting details wrong.

- Bumblebee, no thigh swivels and I think no ankles, but otherwise adorable.
- Mirage, got hinged but not swivel wrists, his feet were sort of weak for support but good for posing. Weird neck. No thigh swivels either. But hyper expressive.
- Hot Rod, crap even by today's standards.
- Starscream, looks awesome and is still the definitive Deluxe Seeker to me. No thighs, no ankles and wrists are only hinged. Limited neck.
- Astrotrain, don't remember. Only that it wasn't hyper articulated and like many toys back then, had no ankles.
- Hound, no memory.
- Grimlock, again, hinged wrists due to articulation but no swivel. Feet are surprisingly balanced but no ankles.

Okay, so the above represent the molds for the first Classics. Then Bayformer 1 happened and now TFs go into a boom and we actually get a TF shortage. We get a lot of repainted Cybertron toys touted as movie toys. Then we got Animated.

Up to this point, TFs were still Cybertron-Era level in terms of articulation, which is to say, they typically have most of their points of articulation but tend to be missing one or two vital ones, especially thighs, biceps and wrist swivels. Very few have anything more than hinged ankles. Mirage's ball jointed feet qualify on a technicality but they're not very functional because they can't actually support much weight.
>>
>>6229851
So yeah, pre-RotF, toys were a mixed bag in terms of articulation with the occasional gem here and there. The RotF happened and that's when we had the most detail and articulation across the board, but also the most complex transformations. As an adult, I love the complex transformations but they were TOO complex for fun, so things started getting dialed back. Coupled with the rising costs of manufacturing, this included other factors aside from transformation, such as articulation and plastic.

Personally, I appreciate that nowadays, most deluxes will at least have the vital 9 or 10 points of articulation. Neck, shoulders, elbows, waist, hips and knees. A lot of the pre-RotF toys lacked the all important biceps or thighs.

Actually, there is a pretty big design issue with MP Cheetor. The clearance to stuff the Cheetah head into his robot chest is too tight and it doesn't fit together as nicely as it should.

If you haven't tried it yet, remove the Cheetah head from his robot mode and see how much better everything fits together without it "in the way".

Shaving down the circled areas in this pic (they're already shaved in the picture) does the trick though. The original raised edges didn't leave enough room for the cheetah head to fit in tightly. It's a painted surface but the paint isn't visible in either mode so it doesn't matter how bad you fuck it up.

It's a little weak honestly, but the leg and head articulation do a good job making up for it, plus the robot mode is legit 10/10.

Also I didn't realize until putting Cheetor back in robot mode but his guns make up a lot of the beast mode's bulk. I feel sorry for anyone in the future who inevitably makes the mistake of buying a "Used MP Cheetor guns missing" on ebay.

Picked up Triggerhappy from a Chinese Ebay seller because it's on shelves in NZ yet (at least where I live) and goddamn is this a fine piece of shmup-style jet.

Only complaint is not being able to peg the combined blasters to the top of the altmode, it seems so logical but they just missed the mark. Has anyone managed to finagle a connection point of some sort? Would it almost be worth 3D-printing something?

It mystifies me that people expect there to be some kind of folding panel to cover up almost every gap on a retail kid's toy. If a few gaps where a part folded out from another part in the more compacted mode really ruins a toy for you, you must be fun at parties.

It's like having visible robot parts on the underside of a jet. It's just been part of the reality of the franchise.

>Eukaris is a wild and untamed planet, home to a colony of long-lost Transformers with beast modes. By modern times, Eukaris's population had splintered into four competing tribes, who divided themselves based on the nature of their alternate modes. They consisted of the Scale Walkers, led by Dinobot, the Fur Walkers, led by Cheetor, the Wave Walkers, led by Manta Ray, and the Cloud Walkers, led by Sonar. Although isolated from other Transformer worlds, the tribes of Eukaris never forgot the humiliating discrimination that their ancestors on Cybertron faced, and most maintain a healthy distrust of any vehicle mode Transformers.

And I expect his plotline will be handled in the main issues, which means very unlikely to be gay. The gay stuff is almost exclusively for the LL and the side stories.

basically, the beast planet has tribes, Cybertron has factions (used to) and most of the other colonies have dwindled their population down so much they're effectively one city each.

Simon Furman's idea was for it to be a cyberfomed Gorlam Prime. Scott/BoR is apparently going for "colonies" (an idea that dates back to the development of BM).

>That time someone bought a house just to troll them
>Jackson, a self-described news junkie, used Google Earth to locate the church — an organization famous for its virulent anti-homosexual views and its tendency to picket military funerals. But as he zoomed in on the Westboro compound, he realized that the house right across the street had a “For Sale” sign on it. He immediately called a realtor and began drawing up plans to turn the building into a LGBTQ museum — and though zoning laws prohibited that plan he went ahead with the idea of painting the house the colors of the rainbow Pride Flag.

It's not so much anymore, but during the 70s and 80s, a lot of mustache styles were associated with either porn, or homosexuality.
Outside of Alex Trebek, Tom Selleck and Burt Reynolds, you just didn't see them.
The late 90s led to a slow revival, as mustacheoed people like Jeff Foxworthy, Steve Harvey, Jason Lee, and Doctor Phil got a lot of television time.

I think that the mustache has just always been associated with manliness, and during a certain time period, there was need to dictate what TYPE of manliness you were, and so facial hair of any sort faded away. Part of this was also simply a result of a work force moving towards white collar jobs.

Considering mandarake has never gone below 4kyen on just rusty prime I think its "ok", seller had just the prime for $35 plus $10 but then he dropped the overall prime by $5 and kept the same shipping with the inclusion of galvatron...

But yes, >>6230474 as well, paid too much because of the galvatron, though last time I ever saw him was in retail, some shopping was flogging movie voyagers for $30aud, only got it because its cheaper than hunting mandarake.

Also fun fact, this is my third evasion mode prime, I wanted the movie the best but skipped it because it cost far more than this, another fun fact is I paid $50 aud for the first original hasbro evasion mode prime so if anything this package overall is better, shame its lessened by its partner

>>6230476
The articulation makes up for the fact its a shell former where the legs don't even transform save for a panel that covers up the sides, but not the top which leaves them exposed in truck mode.

I just wish the back panel could fold up mode or just be removable like the leader movie prime, I dig the sculpt even if the acual robot body doesn't do shit other than tuck his arms behind his head

>>

I'm...surprised anyone *here* is saying its ok considering the initial hate victorion got being a fembot and all that comes with it.

If the teal had been a cleaner, bluer blue and had been the majority colour instead of the red (like the options seemed to suggest), the red had been deeper, and the white/silver had been more prominent I'd have been all over it. As is, Vicky's colours were just unbearable. A shame as the cyberglyphic details were pretty cool.
>>
>>6229625
I've though that too. Honestly I would love an upscaled Titan Master line in the future. Same basic gimmick, but the smaller body turns into a vechicle instead of head. All the vechicles would probably need the same basic shape to make the gimmick work but I'd accept it.

Movie stuff this happens with every wave just before the films since RotF. Two rumors run as to why:
Hasbro trying to ensure high movie per order/sales
factory runs get dicey with the extra movie line and as such they don't get information out easily.

you misunderstand. The theory is that where they are mass producing more than what they are use to they don't distribute order information well. Similar issues happen when Hasbro start running both legends and 3.75 at the same time, order info on 3.75 was scares and hard to come by. It's just the nature of big distribution.

Not him, but yeah pretty much. Big box retail is just looking for their piece of the action from a blockbuster movie. Fuck whatever "collectors" want on the shelves, they want mom and pop spending money for little Johnny, who just saw the hot new movie with Bumblebee.

Most people here don't perorder from big box chain and everyone's beef has been the complete lack of offers from any site. Your theory can't work from perorders alone because stores like TFsource, BBTs and others will offer perorders if given the information needed to request orders, movies be damned. The fact they haven't gotten that means that it's either on Hasbro's end directly or the warehouse sending out the info to sites to offer perorders.
>>
>>6230681
>Also, what does BBTS selling imported Japanese vinyl have to do with anything?

Why ask a question that only you yourself can answer? You pretty much already know what Titanmasters are like, the question is, do you want those 5? If you do, then yes, there is a point. If you don't, then there isn't. Jesus, you people need to be spoonfed your own opinions sometimes.

That said, the paint on those is really nice. Their little bot modes feel much more like actual mini-figures than the Hasbro counterparts because of it. Unfortunately, the colors on Hardhead and Brainstorm won't match the Hasbro figures, but Chromedome is close enough, and his Legends version has a pretty excellent paint upgrade.

I've said it before, but the painted details on Brawn make him the literal cutest thing ever. I wish he had his own vehicle in matching colors, though.

You are the only person I have ever heard complain about that vehicle mode. I have Lambor and there's nothing wrong with his vehicle mode. It fits together just as well as Ratchet. And doesn't ratchet scratch his paint during transformation? I really don't know, I don't own him, and my Ironhide is fine, but I've heard multiple anons saying Ratchet was a different story.

I think it's funny that after all these years, Lambor is still getting shit on for one thing or another, despite being a fantastic toy.
>>
>>6230888
>You are the only person I have ever heard complain about that vehicle mode.
That's because you're browsing /toy/, a forum not known for intelligence, common sense or observation skills.

Look at this thing. Every other MP Car pegs together and lines up 100x better. This isn't even a photo that's trying to make it look poor–and NO, this is not the knock-off, the knockoffs are even shittier.

Also, the vehicle mode paint could be and should be much better. Every release of the mold has lame paint issues.
>>
>>6230888
Ratchet's paint isn't as strong as Ironhide's, there's a few points where chipping is an issue for him where as Ironhide has no problem.
>>
Maybe it's because I have G2 Sideswipe and his black finish hides the gaps a bit better, but I love his car mode. Sure it isn't perfect but if I wanted a perfect car mode I'd buy a die-cast car. It's still awesome looking.
