I returned to the store and they were kind enough to offer me an exchange since they know I buy a lot of other stuff but have only had issues with SHF from them, but honestly out of the 3 they had left, including their display piece, all had QC problems.

Now my question is, can kind anons with non-defective Alpha Amazons post a pic of how your left-handside of Alpha's head look like on the seams? I'd like to figure out if I can remove the seam with putty and some extensive airbrush (I do gunpla and my friends are GWBC finalists with the know-how). I'd just like to make sure I get as close as possible to how it's supposed to be.

Basically, show me both sides of your Alpha Amazon as reference so I can fix the seam issues on mine.

thanks that helps a lot. Also noticed that this is actually a common issue with Amazon Alpha shf, since higher-res pics of it, like the ones on Shishio actually shows similar large gaps on the same specific side of the head. I guess I'm the only one who minds that seam. I'll pretty much just have to add putty to it, let it dry, sand then restore the chrome red to it afterwards. Most difficult part would be finding the right colors for it. Thanks anon for linking these.

There was some kind of botch with the Batta based legs in that none of them had knees tight enough to actually stand, they're all really lose.

It also really had the early anorexic Figuarts style it had before the Fourze and Gaim series.

To be fair if you don't mind the proportions the non-batta leg ones are fine, though the S.I.C.s would be better, but definitely don't bother with TaToBa until the renewal.

Alpha Amazon sold out for a bit but now they're popping back up for barely more than $5-8 higher than initial retail/pre-order prices. Alpha is the only reason I'd still even bother with season 2. Choices are a bit barren if you're not into the kind of recent heisei style riders. That being said, the SHF is great, early photos doesn't portray the red well, but in person, it is a great figure of Alpha.

They do not. They have little plastic tabs but it doesn't hurt to leave the tabs in. The only ones that have a On/Off Switch are Mighty Bros, Gear Dual and Gear Dual Beta.

they do different things for different series, for example, Drive has a dedicated art book just for the monsters, because they're all done by Takeya, who is a respected sculptor. It's a gorgeous artbook with full body illustrations of the monster suit designs on each page, hardcover too. Not a single drawing of Drive or whatshisnamebunchofjunksonaridersuit guy.

Same thing for Den-O, Blade and Kabuto, the monsters were designed by Yasuhi Nirasawa, so the art books were dedicated to just his designs, it included Momo but not Den-O himself. You'd have to get the separate data book for the Riders of those series, if they existed. It doesn't always happen this way.

That was kind of his whole thing in OOOz, he brings back Mezool and Gamel, and they betray him, he spends most of the time as a Core Medal, gets brought back, powered up, only to get his shit knocked in by a fully cell-Medal charged Tatoba before being packed full of more Medals and basically turning into a giant abomination.

Basically his entire existence in the show was suffering, so everyone just seems to like torturing him more.

Shin is fantastically detailed, but I can't help but think something is off about him, especially in the face.

I think it's the lack of detailing around the eyes. Real Shin has these dark borders around them that define them and make them pop. Figuarts Shin doesn't.

How bad is slowpoke tax on Gaim roleplay stuff?

I'd like to buy a Sengoku Driver and all of the show lockseeds. What makes the Gashapon ones different from DX besides no Inves game sounds, no sound when unlocking, and no lights? I don't really want to pay the hundred dollars or whatever for Durian and Donguri lockseeds.

Depends what you want.

Sengoku Drivers look like a pain in the ass to find. I've scoured both Yahoo Auctions and Mandy and am finding zilch. Amazon.co.jp has them for ￥8600 new, so that's what you're looking at now.

Genesis Drivers are around $40-80 but the toy is LOUD. It's Drago Timer tier in how obnoxious that clicking gimmick is.

DX Lockseeds are heavily dependent on who used them when it comes to price, if they come with a faceplate, and if they come with a toy. Grape for example sits at around $40-50, the bikes sit at $25ish, most other DX Lockseeds are $30-40 with Pineapple being the cheapest that I've seen and energy ones being the hardest to find. DX Lemon Energy is $120ish because it only came with Sonic Arrows, DX Melon is about $50-80 because it only came with the sword. The movie apple set has been slowly going up in price, you used to be able to find it for $20 and now it's around $35.

If you want Kachidoki or Kiwami you're looking at about $40 separately for each one, Kachidoki seems to be far more expensive at times and I've seen up to $60 on Mandy just for it, but the Narikiri set (The one that has them sold together) comes up at times for about $50-80 so you can see if you want to wait for that to happen.

Now, Premium Bandai stuff is all over the place. You can get Lockseeds for as little as $20 and as high as $90, you'd have to specifically look into them if you wanted them as I am far too poor to look at that realm so I never paid much attention.

Gashapon Lockseeds have no lights, I believe you have to apply the stickers but I'm not 100% sure on that, you have to attach the lock part and the face part, it's much lower quality, and there's no spring when you open the front, it's just a plastic lock so you have to click it back into place. If you're buying Energy ones or Kachidoki they're also going to be different designs and solid rather than clear. Candy Toys come pre-assembled but they're Gash tier regarding everything else. They make no sounds or lights when you place them into a belt or take them out either.

The biggest difference though is that Gash/Candy Toy Lockseeds work like this:
Button press 1: Lock opening sound (Doesn't happen on actually opening it)
Button press 2: Transformation sound (As if you slashed down on it)
Button press 3: Squash (Or equivalent)
Button press 4: Ole (Or equivalent)
Button press 5: Sparking (Or equivalent)

DX Lockseeds work like this (Exception is Heisei and Showa DX Lockseeds):

So, for example, if you just open the non-DX Lockseed and stick it into the Senogku Driver, there will be no sound made except from the driver that you're inserting it, locking it won't make a sound, and when you slash it to open it it will play the Lockseed opening sound rather than the transformation. So if you want to transform it's another slash, Ole it's two more, and then Ole again would be four slashes again.

Whoops, I made a mistake, the transformation music comes from the Driver, but the DX Lockseed makes lights. Also, when you unlock a DX Lockseed it'll make the unlock sound.

To make it clear, the way the Drivers work is they basically just press the back button when you slash down, so let's say this is your scenario with a Gash Lockseed:

>Put Lockseed into Driver
>Lock it
>Slash down once
It will make the opening lock sound because that's one button press and you never pressed the button yet.
>Slash twice
It will make the Squash equivalent because that's two from where the lock opening sound is. The counter then resets because you used a finisher.

It will make the transformation sound because the counter reset from the last finisher.

It will make the Sparking equivalent because that's three from the transformation and then the counter resets because it's the finisher

The counter is basically something you always have to keep in mind with Gash/Candy Lockseeds (I think most of the Premium Bandai ones are put under this category) whereas DX locks it to just Squash/Ole/Sparking once you transform until you take the Lockseed out.

it's actually the whole head that's off, the shf has it a bit thicker and more rounded on the top, overall the jaw is actually thicker because of the 2nd set of chin/grasshopper mouth before the black part of the neck... and the neck itself is also shorter and thicker on the suit. This is generally a problem for shf, even Black and ZO doesn't really have the right thickness for their torsos and arms. Amazon Alpha is a clear improvement on this problem that SHF somehow tend to have randomly (like Bio Rider getting a thick torso for no good reason and Robo getting a thin torso, whoever the fuck did that is a masterful troll of some sort) and I wish they would go back to correct Black and ZO again even if it means me buying another set of figures... Too bad it's really hard to tell if SHFSS will do Showa riders past Rider 1-V3.

as for the eyes, the suit has the advantage of getting light shined into its eyes. it is also for some reason a lot more glossy than the suit. they got the matte just right for ZO and J but not poor Shin.

Makes it strange to ahev them show it now if they don't plan on releasing it. You'd think Heart would be a good note to end on, moving their focus to Ex-Aid. No need to debut andbpreview anything else. Just quiet down on Drive.

Makes me wonder how much they are making off recent Drive figuarts. I know Drive had a situation opposite to Fourze, where older people liked it whereas the core audience of little kids that get mommy and daddy to buy DX toys didn't.

It could also be that since so many Drive suits borrow heavily from other suits in the show, Bandai's investment in making Drive figuarts is so, SO low that returning a great profit on them is painfully easy. Drive exclusives probably don't need anywhere near the same amount of orders as other exclusives to considered successful ventures

Perhaps it could be both, which feed into each other very well. Who knows. However, I am leaning on this actually being released. Dark Drive is the same story as before with reused parts. They only new sculpting is:

Nearly all the Arms Change figures are pretty great with the sole exception of Ryugen/Yomi. Yomi is slightly more recommended because of the equipment you get from him (a properly painted gun, kiwi gekirin, as well as the three Overlord weapons). The Machine Hoodie is one of those Rider designs where "design inspires toy inspires design". Much like how the actual OOO suits had a big circle on their backs to represent the button on the complementary action figure line's gimmick, the actual bike that is the Machine Hoodie has the hinge sculpted on it.

The split on the front wheel may be due to poor reconstruction as display prototype figuarts are known to be delivered in pieces, being reassembled at an event's location during pre-show set up. The gap will most likely be properly sealed when it's ready to be revealed for release and mass produced.

Edison Ghost is at the bottom as well. Perhaps Bandai is borrowing the business model that seems to make Drive figuarts successful:

That model would work even better with Ghost, as it's all just new faces, hoodies, jackets, sleeves, and weapons. I can imagine we will at least in due time see the Ghost forms that debuted two years ago at the yearly Fall event. Edison, Robin, and Newton. Albeit they'll all be exclusive, but that will probably hurt few people. I hope they push themselves to produce Nobunaga and Tutankhamun Specter as well, as they're among my favorite forms and the sickle mode of Gangan Hand is cool.

The big take away from this is that Bandai seems to be returning to having Tamashii Nations serve Kamen Rider fans again after being sidelined by pretty much everything else live action. DKHZ forms from Ex-Aid after a long line of nothing, movie suits from Drive, and surprisingly getting back into gear with Ghost figuarts. I'm sure they are well at work on figuarts for Amazons S2 as well.

Feels pretty good.

Now if only they could release No.4 and No.1's Neo Cyclone.

Pretty up the bikes from old toylines was only done during Figuarts early life. Nowadays, Figuarts is big enough that Tamashii Nations makes their own bikes now.

That being said, I have always stood by the theory that when one is made the other is VERY likely to follow. In this case, all type Special would need is a new head and a new tire. Perhaps a modified sculpt of its Shift Car flipped to the other side.

Really the only thing deterring it from coming into being is its gimmick, which is having instant access to every Drive Rider Weapon. Don't know if Bandai would be hesitant to include all those weapons or alternatively hesitant to release him without any weapons.

And now here we are with Drive now having more releases total than Gaim. Even I, a BIG fan of Drive, cannot fathom how far Tamashii Nations have come. I was ready to hang the towel.

The only explanation I can think of this peristence, along with the cheap proudction factor, is that Drive was a passion project for some at Bandai and Toei. I mean, they did make a big teaser for the car and previewed a gray prototype sculpt for Type Speed which is incredibly rare to see from SHF. It's surprising that Drive is getting its Summer movie Rider. We haven't had a summer movie Rider since... W? I guess you can count Fourze with figuarts of the Kyoudain Siblings, since they fit the role that is usually taken up by movie Riders. Either way that is still a long fucking time ago. Tamashii Nations has evolved severely since both of those points in time.

Drive must be doing well to debut Drive's movie Rider for the first time in the Akiba Showroom of all places while Gaim's have already had their prototypes done for a long time yet as of now have failed to be released. Dark Drive can also not be released, but the Akiba showroom is usually reserved for upcoming products actually coming down the pipeline at some point.

No Joker. Any reports of Joker during Tamashii Nations last fall was misinterpretations of Skull. The only W characters to have reached at least the prototype stage in the SHFSS line are:

That being said, with this SHFSS most likely being bigger and thicker than the SHF, it makes me want to pick up SHF R Nasca. While on the show it was obviously a recolored Nasca suit, it still kind of irked me that his old, stick thin wife changes into it with the same beefy proportions.

Just got back from Tokyo and these BANDAI Kamen Rider figures are in gacha machines. What are these? What did I just buy? The reason why I bought these was because the gacha card indicated that they were highly poseable figures, and 125mm (5") tall. So I pumped in my yen coins (500 yen each- about $4.35), and they are kinda badass. They have good ball joints and swivel arms and knees.

They also seem to be very popular. Just 30 secs after I bought one at Gachapon Kaikan in Akihabara, I saw a young man examine the machine and buy one too. Then, after visiting the Radio Kaikan bldg 2F, the Kamen Rider machine there had the red "sold out" tag. A few days later, Gachapon Kaikan's machine was empty. Seems that the Japanese are going nuts over these. Right now, they're still easily available in more off-the-beaten-track places like the gacha machines at the Hotel East 21 shopping mall in Tokyo, as well as the Narita Int'l airport.

Any background info on these, and why they seem so in-demand over there? I don't know what Kamen Rider is. I just bought them because of the size compatibility with my other stuff, the posability and the price.

Over at the Akiba Culture Zone, there's a shop that sells unboxed gacha. It looks like there were earlier versions of these Kamen Riders, but with very limited articulation. Those were pretty big, mostly hollow and did not have moveable elbow or knee joints.

It's REALLY interesting to notice the cultural differences between Japan and the US. Over there, bicycles are left UNLOCKED in street parking lots. I heard they have a spoke lock, but nothing's preventing someone with a truck from just driving around and scooping up all the bikes to crack the locks in some warehouse.

And gacha machines... banks of them sitting outside, overnight. In almost-unlit alleyways. They're just ABS plastic, and anyone with a hammer, or a saw could just crack them all open and steal all the gacha overnight. But... in Japan, people just don't do that sort of thing. Wow.

It's just an observation that in the US, gumball toy machines and gacha machines are on rollers, and often chained to the front of a store. When the store closes, the toy machines and gacha machines get rolled inside. They never get left outside at night. Cuz if they're are, some a-hole is DEFINITELY gonna steal them or break them open.

It's just a fact of life that in the US, people will steal anything that's not nailed down. We just get used to that, and it's a shock to see how diff it is in Japan.

Not so. The images you saw here are the latest updates to SHFSS W figures. Before the show only CycloneJoker existed and maybe the Hardboiler.

Nobody was sure if and when we would see anything else from W in the SHFSS line. I remember having discussion with an anon ssying they would never make Skull. At least, they would not make him so early.

Since then, all we have heard of from Kamen Rider SHFSS is Accel coming out as a regular release.

Because NY wants your money right away, and it forces you to ask them to cancel which sometimes they don't let you if you already paid.

NY used to be pay later for almost everything, but I think they started getting burned by people cancelling/not paying for p-bandai orders so they ended up getting stuck with stock that won't sell. Its understandable, but sucks as I don't like paying for something I won't have for months.

It arrived, I am slightly confused but happy.
In addition to the stuff I ordered, it also had a Gashapon(? it came in two pieces and I needed put on the front sticker and a name sticker) Proto-Mighty Action X. It came in a plastic bag that seemed like legit packaging, not a repackage, but it had no white plastic battery tab and the batteries were dead. I had ordered from HLJ any idea why I got it.

Proto MAX is a campaign item. You got it for ordering a gamer driver or one of the main four weapons. That campaign ended late December, so you got lucky with them having overstock.

The gashat itself is DX, not gasha. Don't ask me why you have to put the stickers on yourself though. And none of them have batteries or the plastic tab with them. I just used the tab and batteries from proto Gekitotsu Robots as I don't display or use that gashat.

I just got my SAGA Riders.

I really like them, articulation is great and the proportions are much more human like.
