Interesting, these $17 sets keep disappearing and reappearing on ebay. The one I bought's listing has been removed, but I already have tracking. Same thing happened with the oversized FoC Optimus Prime. It makes me feel like a smuggler.

My Not-Repugnus' new arm assembly just arrived today. I just finished installing it. Hopefully theres no problems with this new one.

I'd provide a pic, but my camera is currently nonfunctional and I'm just trying to find a decent replacement.

The fuck were they thinking? The body is just a bunch of sculpted crap laying around, the colors are G1, the heads both don't fit the body and its certainly shying away from the IDW design. The only really nice part of it is that the alt mode looks good if it can hold together unlike its mold mates. Fucking KFC Tempest looks better.

I don't get how Titanica was such a hit despite being a remold and yet Whirl, Hotrod, Deaths Head, Lockdown and this are such disappointments. I don't know what made them care about accuracy with the DJD and fuck off with the rest of the reformatted line.

How many fuckin' springers are there again? I was going through and nothing really hits the mark 100% for a total G1 springer. However Ocmax's looks cool as its own thing because of the sleekness of the robot and the completely different profiles of the alt modes. It's giving me those sweet Defender 2009 feels but hopefully will be 100% less shit in robot mode.

So, should I go for ACE-01 or should I wait for the X Transbots version instead?

On one hand I really dig the engineering in ACE-01, the fact that they can get a proportionate looking Cliffjumper out of that car without any fake chest or anything similar is genuinely impressive, but on the other hand the renders of the X Transbots just look so much better on an aesthetic level. I'm a massive Porsche fanboy, especially from the 1980s transaxle models, and seeing the unpainted and almost generic looking 924 from ACE-01 in comparison to the glorious X Transbots model makes my dick twingle in uncertainty.

I mean, if you want just the LG and nothing else, go for it I guess. But personally, I'd wait for either the box set if you HAVE to have that one, or I'd just wait for a 3P PM Prime. Because $90 is a lot for a Leader thats designed for a $45 price point. But a $45 Leader in a box set with a few other things, or just buying something designed for a higher price point, would be a much better choice in my eyes.

Part of the whole lightbox thing would also be me getting some better lighting to go with it though, since some of the sets I've seen include lights. Then again, I'm using the same lighting I've been using for a while now, but this new camera doesn't make it look like raw shit, unlike my old one where every pic was either a grainy mess, or washed out, or both, no matter how I adjusted my lighting or how much I toyed with the settings to try and get a clear pic.

I still have to fiddle with it to get it right though, this Overlord pic took like, about 70 pics where every 15 or so I'd readjust my lights until I finally got one that came out clear. Dunno why it took so much effort to get a good one of Overlord here, everyone else so far produced a nice pic within 5-10 shots. I'm chalking it up to his size though, it places him a lot closer to the lights and I think that was interfering with it.

I might just end up getting some poster board to cover up the ugly walls here for the purpose of snapping pics if i don't just say "Fuck it" and grab a lightbox though. I will admit, the Anon's with lightboxes do seem to put out some of the best looking pics.

This would go a long way to help I think. Also another tip if you dont like the color of poster boards you find just get 1 yard of fabric from a fabric store or even at Walmart. You'll find a much larger selection of colors and if you're only buying one yard as a backdrop its only $5-6.

Shockwave too, please. That other company tried doing a WFC Shockwave, but he's not quite there. Needs to be about 20% better.

Megatron would also probably be a good idea if they're going to stick with the video game stuff despite it being kiiiiiiiiiiiiinda far in the past now. Would be nice if they could get releases out more often, but maintain the quality.

It can't stand under its own weight. It just sags and topples over, unable to do anything or even hold its weapons. Their razorclaw's head is fucking awful and their weapons are junk as well. I like the beast modes though. If you just like the look of the robot/alt modes you can probably find them for dirt cheap.

Their Seacons are pretty much 100x better in every way.

So I've got Maketoys Defensor and I love him. Is Quantron as good or should I stick with my UW version?

Also I really, really wish Maketoys would do the other combiners. I got turned off CW/UW by the incessant retools and dodgy QC (I'm probably making Megatronia my only other official combiner purchase because there's no way she's getting a 3P version) and I'd love a proper Menasor, Bruticus and Superion, but all the offerings are either MP scale, outdated or just plain crap.

Pretty sure the crowdfunding idea was their goal at the start. A3U or one of them mentioned it. Basically MMC isn't sure Artfire will sell as good as the other two due to being a left field character that has official and other third party figures of him by this point. Figure is amazing for $17, there was a little bit of paint smudged off one of the silver smoke stacks but whatever.

Though regarding the original DX9 God Ginrai set I wonder why they didn't include some sort of forearm pieces and shoulder cannon to make him look more like the actual God Ginrai. Especially as I think the original set was like around $50.

Theres a bit difference between a toy having a gimmick here or there, and an electronic device being built around a gimmick. Motion controls on the Wii were annoying and poor, the tablet controller on the Wii U was annoying and unneeded, and now the Switch is basically a handheld being paraded around as a console.

I just want Nintendo to go back to making actual systems like everyone else does, so I don't have to swing around my room like a retard to play Zelda, or worry about compromises to allow for this or that.

That said, and more on topic, gimmicks for a toy can also ruin the toy. Headmasters are an example of something that doesn't ruin a toy. The head pops off, turns into a little dude, it doesn't compromise the toy in any way. Electronics in a toy usually fuck with it though, light up fists or eyes or whatever, because they need to make room for the additional parts and it usually jacks up the price for a pretty "meh" feature.

Using a few of the DX9 pieces, a little exacto work, a pair of FoC Jazz hands, and once I paint the eyes blue, this honestly might be my go-to Optimus. Short of having an ab crunch he's pretty much got everything I want. His look falls somewhere between the movies, g1, IDW, and Striker Manus and just all around appeals to me. If I can find/make some little hinges so the kibble behind his hands could flip back he'd be perfect.

He's pretty damned big, I think you're just missing a lot of mass when you're mainly considering height. I wish I could find the picture of him in combined vehicle mode with Takara Lio Prime in battleship mode next to him. It looks stupidly big, especially knowing the voyager size toy isn't tiny.

Also, Planet X figures are small overall? They've done what, one deluxe size toy? Most of their stuff is voyager to ultra size, with Grimlock maybe edging into leader size if you're factoring in overall size and not just height.
