What?? Where's the Skeleton General??
Is there a better skeleton than pic related? If so I haven't found it
What's your favorite? The more skeleton stuff the better
>>6216660
I like the Takaya one better.
It comes with more stuff and he is more expressive.
>>6216660
>>6216693
I find that the Jason and the Argonauts Skelly is better for comedy, as it seems to have this shit-eating grin. And the Takeya one is better for horror, as it is positively fucking SPOOKY looking. They're both good skellies, but I'm glad you made this thread, cause I've been meaning to gripe a little.
I got the Takeya Skelly recently, and I was hoping since it was made later (and sculpted from scratch), it would learn from some of the mistakes of the original. But I find it sorta has even more problems. The ankle rocking kinda sucks compared to the original, they don't tilt very far at all. The hips seem even more unwieldy and frustrating, I am constantly struggling to get them into poses. And most annoyingly of all, the jaw hinge on the default head seems angular whereas the slot is rounded, so it sort of "snaps" to two positions--either closed, or wiiiiide open. I can't get it to stay at any position in between. Overall, I'm just having a worse time handling it, even if I think it looks worlds better than the Argonauts Skelly.
>>6216709
What is it about Revoltech hips anyway?
I have four (Raiden, QB Alice, Fulldrillized Gurren Lagann, and the Takeya Skelleton.) and only one has non-shitty hips
>>6216693
I have that one and like all the options and stuff it comes with but I really don't like posing it around. The joints on mine are so tight they split apart sometimes.
Moving him around isnt as fluid and easy as it is the Jason and the Argonauts one. It super awkward and inconvenient. With mine atleast. He looks great though
>>6216723
Cant argue there.
The Takaya Skeleton looks great but he is straight up scary to pose.
Mine usually sits in one pose for months at a time.
>>6216717
Revoltechs have had sort of a bad history with hips.
- At first, they did dual cut hips, which actually worked pretty great but people didn't like it because...people have an innate hatred of cuts, I guess. It could create odd breaks in the sculpt I suppose, but it had a great range of motion, and that's all I cared about.
- As of Gurren Lagann, they moved on to Revolver jointed hips mounted into the crotch vertically. This was frustrating because you couldn't move the hips on the X and Y axis simultaneously, you had to twist the joint around to move on the other axis.
- Around the time of Big Boss and Raiden, they started mounting the joints pointing horizontally, towards the butt. This worked pretty great, it finally allowed for simultaneous X and Y axis movement. The downside was, it couldn't be used on characters that were too spindly or had too little butt to mount the joint into.
- As of Deadpool, they have switched to a true balljoint. This works BEAUTIFULLY. Huge rang of motion and very easy to pose. Spidey has the same. I'm not sure if they'll carry this on to their non-Marvel Revos, but I sure as shit hope they do, cause they're the best hips yet. The only downside to these hips is that they make the figures not 100% Revo-swappable--but the popularity of making Revo abominations seems to have died down anyway, so no big loss I guess.
>>6216723
Same here! Exactly the same, actually. I own both and the Jason one is easy to pose in comparison. I think the pegholes on the Takeya one are super tight, which is what makes the joints pop apart when you try to turn them.
>>6216693
what about the one in red Japanese feudal armor? hows that skeleton.
what happened to the gashapon skellingtons line?
did they did more than guns and halloween hats?
>>6216892
I believe the base body for that Skelly is the same as the Takeya Oni one, so read the complaints about it above. The red armor one has a new headsculpt though, so the jaw problem might have been fixed.
>>6216660
Got 2 of these on PO.
In terms of comedy and playability the Argonauts skeleton is best hands down. In terms of sculpt accuracy and being the best looking generic skeleton in 1:12, the Takeya Samurai Skeleton is the winner in that regard. The oni skeleton wins the best complete package award though due to it's accessories.
So pic related is my first ever. I have to say, there's a definite charm that other figures just don't have.
>>6217024
Damn, that iron rust skelly barely has any rust on him at all. What a letdown.
>>6217088
It's just the lighting. I can assure you he's covered.
>>6217092
So I'm gonna post these here then the photo general. I got a wood castle from micheals, I painted it up in stone paint and it's now a home for my skeletons. More so for the necromancer skeleton. I also have the gorilla and child skeleton on the way.

>>6218448
Yeah same. I want a cowboy, an astronaut, a knight, a wizard to name a few.
>>6218456
probably be cheaper to do, since I'd imagine it'd be the same skeleton body reused over and over
I know people hate this game due to it's horrible fans but I think this dude would make a good toy.
>>6218448
That would be adorable.
>>6218476
I agree
Anyone have the pose skeleton Gorilla? The T-rex? Any of the animals? How are they?
>>6218325
Loved the castle and pics m8
>>6218589
I have the T-rex, the stego, and the triceratops. Only complaint is the hips are a bit loose on the t-rex but other than that they are really fun.
>>6218589
I have the gorilla and I sorta regret buying it. It feels really flimsy and some of the joints are loose and/or cannot really support its weight well. Standing it up on its hind legs is a chore. I would have sold it off long ago if there were some other option for poseable gorilla skeletons on the market.
>>6218623
Thanks man. The castle was really fun to work on.
>>6218589
>>6218626
>>6218642
Generally speaking, the mammals are not as good as the dinos. They tend to be pretty loose. They barely function as mounts despite how light the Pose Skeletons are. They're okay for display or spare parts though but probably won't be the pride of your collection. The dinos are generally awesome though. The weathered bones look quite good and will fit in nicely if you happen to have any of the Figma Museum figures.

Really nice pics, anon. I think that you could decorate the interior rooms of your castle wth some decorative wallpaper, to improve the look, or painted with the stone paint that you used for the exterior.
>>6218642
You can use a bit of pledge for tightening the joint or put a bit of tissue paper between them too
>>6218909

/sssg/ is always nice. I think it's because it's not limited to a specific brand and there's no brand loyalty or dick-swinging. Although nothing compares to this general around halloween. That's when all the real spooky, scary skeletons really get going.

Speaking of cheap skellies. I'm glad I got this jade one while I could. I hadn't realized October Toys is gone so who knows when/if we could see this mold again. Onell could do a release though, I guess.

One of my favourite figures, but I wish it came with an articulated stand. The scenic base is nice but it's useless for supporting the figure. Still, Tamashii Stages work fine.

My original revo skelly is a floppy mess in ever joint buf the arms. How do i fix it?
>>6233045
You can buy replacement ones no? Just gotta know what size to get
>>6219245
thats incredible. I love seeing stop motion animation with this skeleton. Did you make this personally? if so any tips because as the other said it really does look like a old fighting game idle stance. I'm surprised nobody has translated skeleton stop motion animation into a mugen character.
New skelly alert. Spinal's Shipwreck Cove diorama from Killer Instinct by Ultimate Source. Unfortunately it's already sold out at BBTS.
>>6234027
It seems like he is just a statue, amirite?
>>6234037
I think they have some basic swivel articulation. He comes extra swords and shields too. I'd need to watch a review on the others in the line I guess, I can't find one for Spinal.
>>6234040
Addendum: their Fulgore has halfway decent articulation it looks like.
https://youtu.be/mu5WnIhPO0A
>>6234040
Based on the pics of this review/preview, it seems like he doesn't have articulation, as in all the pics he is in the same pose and in some pics you can see a close up of the elbow with no visible swivel joints
The werewolf looks like a statue, same for the others, in some it seems they have some
>http://news.toyark.com/2015/07/19/better-look-at-killer-instinct-figures-170003
>>6234051
Mmmm :I Shame.
Although it kind of looks like a seam of a shoulder swivel though the ropes. Still not great. I might get it though.
>>6234055
Also, werewolf has swivel hinge shoulders.
>>6234055
Well, if you get him, please do a review here
At any case, with Spinal is kind of eazy to do a custom, jut give one of the revo skellies a shield and a sword and we have a eazy custom Spinal
That's why skellies are so awesome, they can become anything you want with the correct accessories
Oh wait, look at his knee in this picture. That looks like a hinge. I still have hope. Maybe swivel hinge shoulders like most of them, maybe hips too, and hinged knees, probably wrist/forearm swivel. Here's hoping.
What's a good scale for weapons when it comes to the Rement Skellies?
>>6235014
Generic soldier toys from walmart. They are called elite corps now but they were total soliders. Also gi Joe weapons and 3.75 inch starwars works good.
>>6235014

>>6238443
If it makes u feel better the rocketeer was a shit toy and mine had its arm just snap off when I tried to move it.
>>6238487
That does, actually.
I've got a couple of ~1:16 C96s from the different Kaiyodo Red Spectacles/Jin Roh figures, so I'm not hurting there. Just kind of surprised a 1:12 accessory worked so well with the Pose Skelly.
Just ordered my first Boss Fight skellymander, they're not complete trash right? I'm thinking of making one into a skeleton wearing a literal skin suit, just sculpt a light layer of torn skin covering the ribs etc.
What would be the most bizarre/weird skeleton that you want to see being made as a figure??
Anything goes...

I just want normal skeletons but in funny costumes

I'm kicking myself in the teeth for not checking out the generals sooner. How difficult will it be to get these guys later down the line?
>>6240395
Lots of articulation, but I was pretty dissatisfied with the in-hand "feel" they have. They feel cheap to me. YMMV, but expect a bit of warping on the lower legs.
>>6240755
I've got pretty pedestrian tastes when it comes to skeletons. I can't think of anything (at the moment) outlandish template I'd want to see a skeleton in. wouldn't mind a "giant" gashadokuro skeleton, though.
>>6241116
If it is anything like the last time, there will be a window of time where these will be available on the 4H site. Depending on the popularity of a particular figure, that window may be ridiculously small.
>>6241114
Lewd
What are the best Skeletons to buy? I want to buy a couple of them to posse around the house but don't know who makes good ones.
>>6241540
Either Pose Skeletons or the Boss Fight ones. They're the most plentiful and easily acquired. Pose is cheaper, but BF is more accurate and correctly scaled to 1:18. But if you just want skellies I go Pose, either "original" or "big".
>>6241248
I would imagine the boss fight ones are flimsy feeling, they have to be flexible to not be brittle from being so thin. I've seen reviews where they say they feel kinda weak. I'll see how they feel when mine arrives.
>>6240755
Actual source material wise, I'd want Heroes of Might and Magic liches.
Completely batshitcrazy wise I'd want mexican Abraham Lincoln as a skeleton. Don't know why, but a calaveras Lincoln or one with a poncho amuses me greatly.
>>6241552
I have some too. They /feel/ flimsy, but I've not had anything break or whatever. And I've flexed and posed them quite a bit. I mean, you gotta be a little careful with them since the joints are thin because there's not a lot of room to work inside a skeleton, but I don't think they're super fragile.
I did have one whose hip was cut wrong and they sent me replacement parts right away.
>>6241545
Im gessing by "Boss Fight," you're talking about Vitruvian Hacks. They look pretty good.
I might try to start with Pose. How can you tell if which size they are? Amazon doesn't really say.
>>6241580
Go to amiami. They have a good description of them.
>>6240755
Gravelord Nito could be fun
>>6241564
Yeah, I've not had anything break. I worry about the tiny wrist peg the most.
I still think I like the Dokuromon ones the best, but BF's definitely has its merits.
>>6241722
They also make skeletal dinos, reptiles, ice age mammals, and other animals, as well as set pieces and accessories.
Skelly-less anon wanting to join the fun here.
I want to get the Pose Skeleton croc and Komodo dragon but had some questions on their articulation.
1) Can the croc's legs be positioned erect or can they only do a 'high walk'?
2) Do the Komodo dragon's elbows work the same as other skellies' elbows (they look like simple swivels)?

What are some starter skeletons? I just want some basic possible ones? Around 3'5 in would be best.
>>6245807
I don't own one but I believe the Boss Fight skeletons are 3.75 inches. They're like $15 a pop though. And there really isnt any paint on them, so they look really plain in person, but it's a simple wash from what I see people on here say
Probably beyond the budget of most people (including me) but 1/6th Skull Knight king of all skeleton figure is coming up in a few months

>>6244169
I got 2 on PO. I reckon your necro-skelly's got a boss now, or something.
>>6246562
I have a feeling the demon is going to be something he summons and they just pal around and do evil things together. The necromancer takes orders from no one.
The rement skeletons made me realize how good the 3in scale are for figures.
You get to use tons of larger accessories creatively like cars, houses, make dioramas, have bigger "monster" like dinosaurs, dragons, elephants etc.

Hmm, that head, plus the purple armor, and some blue Marauders stuff and I could make a sweet tacticool Skeletor.
>>6250549
Are the legs okay? They look warped. Was thinking of getting some, but not if they cant stand right
Toy when?.
>>6250609
Mine had an issue where the shinpiece of the armor had turned sideways during shipping, so it twisted the shin of the leg you see on the right. The knees are bent in that picture though, so it's actually not bad at all in reality - he can stand up straight with little issues. It can for sure be bent completely straight under warm water. If you live closer to them than Europe then I'd think the shipping wouldn't rustle the pieces that much,
My lightpanel commited seppuku so the pictures are kinda dark on one side, oh well. Fix it in post as they said...
And as presented here, hot water straightened the shin right good. Good thing these things come apart, made the process so painless.
Some lego things fit them pretty well as toylike objects.
The lego acoustic guitar piece even works as an adorable plastic ukulele.
>>6251017
I really can't wait to get my black/gold skelly
>>6251049
They are super fun, I'm going to get me some more aswell. It feels really light and perhaps flimsy, but for me atleast it has taken a lot of twisting and yanking it to bits and nothings broken. If you worry at any point, warm it up a bit to loosen the joints.

The shin armor comes off too right?
I wish bossfight would sell skeletons of all colors. I want a rainbow of skeletons. The only bright colored skeletons you can get are that green one, and the clear purple one. Too bad there's no blue, or red, pink(anymore) etc
>>6218476
You know he has a figure, right? It's not poseable but it exists.
>>6251899
Yeah the shin armor is removable too. The skeletons come with spacers you stick on their bones so the armor doesn't jiggle around. I just like how it looks. You can even get boobplate armors for skellymans if you're truly depraved. (gonna do that myself, since i already bought the armor.)
Do they make pose skeleton hands in different poses? Is there such a thing, not that I have a problem with the cupped hands look.
>>6253618
The pink skeleton came with relaxed hands, and the grave set included a set of hands fused together in a praying pose. I think that's it for different hands in that particular line.
I bought a coomodel skeleton with rusty joints off aliexpress (the seller actually pretends it's a feature not a flaw, but it was only 30 Euro). Some of the joints can't be moved they are so badly rusted. Should I use wd-40? Is there a way to remove the rust?
>>6254448
WD-40 should do the trick. Are the COO Model joints like the Revoltech Revolver ones, I.E. can they be removed from the limbs?
If they can, I'd pull them and hit them with a brass wire brush.
>>6254453
I remember using WD-40 on a toy once and talking about it on /toy/, so an anon said that WD-40 can potentially damage the plastic. He recommended a silicone based lubricant called Shock Oil, which is commonly available in any shop that sells Remote Control (RC) vehicles.
I got a #300 "strength" bottle of Shock Oil and I have to admit, it's a great lubricant. Far better than WD-40 for the purpose of lubricating joints. I have no idea if WD-40 actually does damage plastic though. I mean, it's the internet after all. Anons are given to bouts of bullshit.
All I can verify is that Shock Oil's pretty good for lubricating purposes.Just be sure to only dab a small amount as this stuff is slippery as hell.
As for the rust... well, like I said, my main concern's just the plastic and getting the pieces moving.
I used the wd-40 and all the joints are moving and the rust is mostly gone. I hope it doesn't ruin the plastic in the long run.
I don't think the joints are removable, at least it seems like they aren't. It does come with some plastic replacement joints(I think for the ankles and wrists), so at least those might be.
One of the elbow joints is now too loose, maybe super glue or acrylic varnish could fix that?
What's a good stand for this figure?
The femurs are a bit warped so I will have to get a hair drier to fix that (I don't want to use water)
>>6254558
>>6254592
The thing to remember is that WD40 is actually not a lubricant. In fact, here's a quote:
>WD stands for "water displacing" and its main use is as a solvent or rust dissolver. The lubricant-like properties of WD-40 come not from the substance itself, but from dissolving components. And the effect doesn't last.
It's to unstick things. You still need a lubricant afterwards.
>>6254448
Rusted Joints? They're made of metal?
>>6255056
Yes, all the joint except the ankle joints are metal. I think there's also a version with plastic joints.
Can I be part of the skeleton club now?

This. Some 3 in 1 oil should do fine. Just wipe the thing down pretty good and you should be ok. Any deep penetrating lubricant will work. Have had to use 3 in 1 oil to get locked bikes iff the racks with the shit all the time at an old job.

The second skelly you quoted is using kit from the last Pirates of the Caribbean line. 1:18 is the scale you want to use for sourcing accessories.

My friend was shopping online and asked if I wanted anything so we could both benefit from the combined shipping. I wanted the Western Room but he ordered the Japanese room instead. The Japanese room is sadly, quite underwhelming. All you get is a kettle and a couple pillows. The panel in the center can flip around to be a fireplace but that's it. The walls are cardboard.
Does anyone where to get some cheap skellys figs?
>>6277860
Amazon and amiami. Re-ment pose skeletons.
>>6277874
Just found my old halo 2 warthog, although a little big, the skelis scale pretty well with it
>>6278923
fuuuck what line is that?
>>6278923
Joyride Halo 2
Shit, meant >>6280403 for >>6279448
They also had a civilian golden warthog in the same line
>>6246321
Man I know fuck all about berserk but I kinda want this dude
>>6278923
They don't scale too badly at all. I want to say it was Jada that did an actual 1:18 Warthog. It would be interesting to see Skellies in it.
I had no idea this existed until I accidentally just found out now, this looks really cool. Like it's right off of an old scifi horror novel.
Too bad it's from Dr Who though. I wish there was another baggy space suit figure in the same scale to just do a head swap with.
>>6284046
I like Doctor Who so I'd totally get one of those if the only ones I could find weren't $50+
>>6284046
>>6284271
Fifty bucks, really? I have one just sitting in a drawer..
Recreate this scene with toys

>>6284952
Kebab pls go.
>>6276846
Dude check out the boss fight skeleton in green. If you drybrush it with some glow in the dark paint, it'd turn out great. It has the right proportions for that particular skeleton. Unless you want to go for the pose skeleton chunky look ofc.
>no Skeletor
Come on /toy/ step it up
>>6285501
he has a flesh body, so he don't count
>>6288658
tfw you can't join the skeleton thread, because you're only 10% skeleton.
>>6288673
Can Skeletor be a honorary member of the skeleton thread?
He at least has a spooky face
Also
>tfw there isn't a decent figure of skeletor that doesn't have a retarded sculpt face
>>6218327
Do you have an Instagram or somewhere where you share your stuff? These are a treat :)
Got this big guy on amazon, ball joins in the shoulders, hips, elbows, knees, wrists and ankles, made out of the same kind of plastic as other cheap decorations, lots of flash that needs trimming, but holds poses very well, has a screw on head for some reason
good for the price but the advertised 2 additional sets of body parts don't go to it, they are for necklaces
link for anyone interested
