Mega Construx General - Beyonders Better Be Real Edition

I feel like we had a nice thread in the last, so I made a new one.

Old thread:
>>>6171270
>>
Also, what new sets are you excited or looking for?

I'm on the lookout for this Donatello set, the new arctic CoD set, and the CoD paratrooper.

And I hate that the AC line is dead. How did we never get an AC1 troop pack with Altair and Templars? Seriously? I need more knights.
>>
>>6213555
the games were based off the book
>>
>>6213584
I'm still upset we never got the sets with the Templars that were leaked a while back.

I much prefer the dot eyes, tham the dot on white. Hopefully they never use the holes for eyes on the CoD figures, it makes them look dead.

God. Dammit.

And the knight templar with the trechubet.

These make me almost as sad as those cancelled Xevoz.

Actually, let's just keep lamenting things that will never be.

Hope they do those blue ones, with the ponty nose general
>>
>>6213765

Ya I know. And The film by Andrei Tarkovsky,
Speaking of both.. There is a western seris / miniseries coming out based on the novel.
The figures (or request) is more related to the games though. their factions and different types of armour.
>>
>>6213839
They seem to be purposefully not answering any of the questions on their Memebook page about it actually getting turned into a line. They popped in on the comments of the post they made with all the photos to describe what the concept was (kids draw stuff they think is cool and science, we turn them into toys) and then completely ghosted.
>>
>>6214101
They might still be "shopping it", gauging interest, and determining if the sets would feasible or whatever. They probably don't want PR to comment on it until they decide.

I really fucking hope they get made.
>>
>>6214109
>They might still be "shopping it", gauging interest, and determining if the sets would feasible or whatever.
I really hope so because this is a great idea for a line that could get kids interested in space, science, science fiction, and looks like a lot of fucking fun.

Of course I'd have to find a way to get the Sealab 2021 crew in mini figure form for the underwater sets.
>>
>>6214110
My most recent favorite Lego series was the ice science bases because I just love little buildings with labs inside and such. Mega doing it better and IN SPACE would just be amazing. Everything's better in space. I wish there was a better shot of that greenhouse that's behind the space vehicle.

Agreed, which is probably why the Cargo Container armories are so popular; Giving us good, solid bits with which to make scenery with.
Sadly, with how little the Halo base-plates sold and how badly buildings do in general, it'd almost be exclusively for mature collectors and thus primo expensive.

Nah, for some things it's simply the part count, like how Assassin's Creed Fortress Attack (Pictured set) was +300 parts and originally retailed for something like $25 USD, for others, like POOP based builds, end up being expensive just due to the amount of plastic involved.

I got it for $15 off ebay and it is definitely worth that.Like I said way up above, the way the hull comes together is really neat and I really appreciate the ingenuity of how they did the bow of the boat. A very sturdy build too. All it needs is some cargo crates or something and maybe a slight reworking of the canopy. It's always worth picking up the Jungle Rangers set since it comes with the little dock and more matching guys.

Just got back from my Walmart and they had Heroes series 4 on the shelf. I grabbed everyone except for Cutter and Argus. Cutter looks terrible; the green they chose doesn't suit the figure at all. The Argus figure looks like a bad custom, and the two I saw both had crooked paint apps on the front of the helmet. They did use the female torso for the Argus figure, though, so that's cool.

The best of the series is Wetwork, bar none. The fuel rod is amazing, and every piece of armor looks fantastic. The second best would be Madsen. The Recon mold looks great and the paint apps on the sniper are beautiful.

Dare is a good figure, she has clean paint on the Recon helmet. Her regular head has the holes for eyes look, and is just a repaint of the Palmer head from series 3. They used a female Spartan torso rather than making a female ODST torso. The proportions on the figure seems somewhat off just because the ODST boots always look yuuuge.

Decimus is cool just to have. The torso armor on mine is somewhat loose but the shoulder armor is cool and it's always nice to get more alien heroes.
>>
What components make the Destiny figures larger than the CoD or Halo figures, and the CoD figures larger than the Halo figures?

I can't ever put my finger on what exactly is different about the three figure types. Is it heads? Waists? Legs? Torsos? All of the above?

It's both leg pieces. The Chief guardian has Destiny thighs and Halo legs and you can see from the shoulder pads that he's just slightly shorter than the Titan.
>>
>>6225341

The Destiny minis and CoD minis are literally the same bodies. Well, CoD has a few more actual bodies they use in the line, but the base Destiny body is one that they use from the CoD line, so everything is compatible.

Weird! I was just thinking last night about how I would give any money for Mega Construx (or almost any brand, actually) to acquire the rights to produce sets based on Archer. I would kill for a "Gator" Archer, Lana, and a bayou airboat. Too bad it would never haappen in a million years.
>>
>>6227959

Tfw mobilefag and can't watch it. The astronauts themselves are all repaints of pieces from various themes. On one hand they could be cheap to make, but on the other hand they'd look cheap and are overused already so the line would start off "tired" already. I wonder if the repainted pieces are stand-ins.

>>6228221

The CoD guy riding the motorcycle/horse could make a Krieger. Maybe with a little corrective facial paintjob.
The theme is too adult to be picked up, but it'd be so damn awesome and fit hilariously with CoD.

>>

Other than it not selling I don't really see any downsides. The potential for reusing already produced parts from CoD, Halo, and Destiny (and even TMNT like lab coats, trench coats etc.) is almost infinite. And there are no licensing fees because it's an "original" line.

I hope it succeeds because I want kids to be interested in science and space.
>>
>>6227709
Digging deeper on that page the only real info is that we will see a one off set likely based on the space stuff released. It's a single release being planned for the holiday season. There could be more but it sounds pretty iffy, I wouldn't celebrate just yet.

I haven't seen this tearing happening in the cowl parts yet, but I don't really handle the Destiny figures too much. I have these little acrylic display cases I put them in.

However, funny enough, I wonder if these things are leaking some weird plasticizers or something. I've just been putting the newer ones in the case without looking at the old ones, and now that I went to check the plastic for tears, I noticed my older ones the cases look like they have a weird thin film on them...

Yeah, the golden one and green one I bought at the same time. I do take a lot of pics with the figures or just fiddle with them on the desk. The one on the right I got yesterday and seems ok. On the green one you can see plastic sticking out of the cowl that wasn't there before.

Like I said, I found it odd since I haven't had any breakages with Cod stuff or tank treads. Hopefully it's just a bad batch.
>>
>>6229392

I think one thing to point out is that the hunter head is kind of bulky and maybe--even though it's kind of a softer plastic piece--it may just stress that little neck piece out juuuust enough that after so long it finally tears a little.

Like I said, after checking all of my hunters, I haven't noticed it on any of them.

Also, I may have been wrong about the weird leaking/film issue too. Looks like it was only on two of them, so it might just be an issue with the cases themselves, since they were kind of in storage until I put the Destiny minis in them.
>>
I've had some of the rubber waistbands on the AssCreed guys break. But those were stored really poorly (in an uninsulated garage).

Yeah same here. It's just the name of the set. I hate it's colour palette and like to raise a stink about it whenever I see it. The only reason to buy it is the bow.

Well, finally getting Titanfall2 inspired me to take another pass at doing a MegaBloks Titan.

This one looks way better than my previous attempt. Still need to put a gun together for him.

Kitbashed it from two Cyclops sets and one Hoverbike set, with only a few outside pieces.
>>
>>6234629
Nice. The cyclops are really good, I want to make guns, knifes, etc for them.
>>
>>6234629
Oh hell yes.
Instructions would be nice but it looks like
a simple enough build.
>>
>>6234670
Curving the top, and getting the waist/legs to attach BELOW the Cyclops pod were the biggest pains in the ass.

And then the autism of trying to get the arms/legs the right ratio, and the cockpit looking good from all sides, and finding a way to show the sword like the Ronin does in game.

Fun though! I'm looking forward to building a second one using the flame Cyclops. For that one, I'll actually bulk out the sides and give it some weight.

So... That one will probably be actual work.

My first pass at trying a MB titan was blocky and huge (and built almost entirely from the original CoD tank set, with some lego).

I love the big oaf, but the fact that he can barely stand (hence the support for him) is a huge negative.

Nah, they're clutch power is alright for clips, it's just clips aren't good when dealing with torsion perpendicular to their prongs, which is a problem when the base of those clips is also being used as a swivel joint...

Two of the same. You could mix, but I'm not sure you'd get a satisfactory set of colors that way.

This was two of the green ones. I'm going to put the flamethrower ones together and TRY to build a Scorch later.

Adding the bulk is going to be hard, though. I'm sure I'll need a lot more outside pieces. Or I could just build a second lite one, I guess. Just with the different color scheme.

I think hayabusa was a limited-time thing
from the halo wiki:
>The Hayabusa armor bears a resemblance to the armor worn by feudal-era samurai. The armor is named after Ryu Hayabusa, the protagonist of the Ninja Gaiden series and a combatant in the Dead or Alive series. The helmet is almost an exact copy of the "ninja of the future" costume in Ninja Gaiden on the Xbox. Bungie likely created the Hayabusa armor as a tribute to Team Ninja for adding Nicole-458 into Dead or Alive 4. Team Ninja, the developers of the Ninja Gaiden series and Dead or Alive series, are mentioned in the credits for Halo 3.

Honestly it's probably better they're focusing more on smaller sets and battle packs instead of big shelf warmers.
They're block, packaging, and instructional quality are still a bit lacking, and this becomes more apparent the bigger the block builds.

Yeah even now they mostly just get a Plasma Pistol, I went and armed most of my second Gen Grunts with spare Needlers, but now the new Super Articulated Grunts can't even hold Needlers properly.

It does suck, but to be fair the Honor Guard is the only one of the series worth getting multiples of, they're bound to run out first.
