Removing the old cape was a pain but end result was worth it.

I'm so glad I did this.
>>
>>6210221
So I REALLY LOVE the rogue one imperial stormtrooper 3.75 fig. The new helmet sculpt looks superb. The 5POA really is a bummer though. The rest of the body is also excellently sculpted, but since it has no joints, what I wanna do is swap out that nice new helmet sculpt onto one of the older 3.75 trooper bodies.

I tried doing the swap tonight, but of course the ball sockets on the necks are wildly different sizes between the two bodies so a simple swap is impossible. I will have to grind down the ball on the neck of the more articulated (older) body.

Does anyone have any better suggestions?

I was going to say What before the Ghost crew but then I remembered you are probably talking about 6".

Same boat, but I needed Proto Fett anyway.

More mad at the Tusken being a 10 years old figure!
Hasbro could not be bothered to scale down the cool new six inch version they made.

I need to pick up Dr Evazen before the prices go up and to go with Ponda Baba.

>>
>>6210221
Finally a Sandtrooper, this little bastard has been evading me for years.
>>
>>6210551
Six inch is better.

No!

Six inch are simply upscaled 3 3/4" with added joints. The detailing is almost exactly the same. Plus you hardly ever get accessories and will not get any ships.
>>
>>6211271
but you really can't make them anymore detailed than they already are.

Only difference really is how much more articulation or joints you can pack in while maintaining the same level of durability with the same type of plastic.
Paint would be harder to do, so it would be more expensive if you want to keep all the details in place.
>>
>>6211298
You can make them more detailed. Are they doing what's possible in the scale? No.

Look at Figuarts for example compared to TBS, sure there is a price difference but they use the scale effectively.
>>
>3.75"

Technically.
>>

They made him a Stormtrooper Jorg Socul?
A Rebel X Wing Pilot?

And I'm guessing Baron Paron Blue Guy toria.
>>
>>6211400
They're not 3.75". It's a lot closer to 1/18 because there is scale between figures, even if not perfect.

It's not really any better than the Black Series Jango, actually worse in some ways. If it's cheap enough buy it but it's not worth it's retail price.
>>
>>6211211
I already had Black Series Jango when I bought the SHF.

I sold it within a few days. The extra articulation doesn't mean shit when the figure's a wobbly mess, the extra option parts are fiddly and not worth the hassle, and the paint apps on my figure were totally botched. I'd chance another one if I could find him for 2000 yen or less. I wouldn't pay 3500 again though.
>>
>>6211271
I don't need ships, I'm into more things than just Star Wars and like that my figures are all around the same scale
>>
>>6211957
Different strokes for different blokes.

I'm only interested in SW, Lego and a little into Marvel.

I'd prefer more 3.75" scale figures for other franchises as well.

TBS is unlikely to give many Jedi figures or background figures- I only have a few but it always seems like it's hard to stick a diorama together unless you've collected everything.

If they can, i haven't seen anyone ever do it. Even 7" figures aren't more detailed.

>Look at Figuarts for example compared to TBS
Uhh, most of the Figuarts have softer (cartoony) sculpts and larger details (instead of making them the scale size). Pretty much the main difference is basically just the paint mask vs print job, and the print job looks pretty bad because it's a low resolution print and usually done on light skin tones.

And yes, these are 4" and 3.75" figure heads. They're done in 105% from the production molded heads will be, so that's a 5% difference between what they sculpted and what we get. Sculpted detail remains, but it shrinks a tiny bit.

>>
>>6211298

Didn't they say something (evasively) about making the smaller figures *less* articulated?
Joe collector here. They have pretty much gelded G.I.Joe but at least they have more articulation than the Star Wars figures of the same size. I don't know why or who made that decision but it seems kind of contemptuous towards Star Wars fans who they expect will buy anything.

More thoughts on the pilot? I've got a han in the mail too, but I'm probably gonna pick a pilot up too eventually 'cuase it seems like they're the most likely to get clearanced out of the recent group.

>>6213639
I'm more worried about it being loose because it's a seperate piece. In the video that got linked the other day it kept popping out when the guy moved han's leg more than 45 degrees forward.
>>
>>6213635

I'd rather have two holsters than scuff up the paint on the gun from constantly pulling it in and out while taking photos and re-posing.

>>6211211
Honestly? Yes.

Jango followed by the shoretroopers seriously had me considering dropping the line. The shoretroopers (or at least mine) have really nasty, gribbly paintjobs - although the base figure is excellent.

Jango's a different story altogether. You CAN get him looking good if you're willing to put in the work and he comes with some pretty neat accessories, but the shoulder joints are a disaster and the waist will need modding to not be a floppy mess. You'll also more than likely have to repaint all of his straps and work over the silver parts to take off the horrible oily wash that's on them. I paid full price for mine, too.
>>
>>6214604
You've got me interested now, how so? I already loved the shoretrooper, is he any different aside from the paint and helmet?
>>
>>6214983
Way better paintjob, mainly. Helmet design is also seriously on-point and his hip articulation isn't impeded by the rubber armour skirts.

Just a really, really nicely-done figure, honestly. It's one you'll keep picking up and messing with long after you've gotten bored with Luke and Han.
>>
>>6214615
>>6214604
Another Jango Fett owner here. Mine was not nearly as weathered as the other anons, it looks fine right out of the box. I suspect he got an extreme example.
The waist joint just needs a flat piece of flexible plastic stuck in the ball joint to be snug. Like the little plastic slips figuarts come wrapped with to keep their paint from sticking. Comic book bag material would also be good. It's a super easy fix, I would hardly call it a mod, though having to do it is bothersome in general.

I bought mine on sale, and for the price it is definitely worth it.
>>
>>6214983
I don't understand why there's three different troopers using the same helmet/design.
-Hovertank pilot
-AT ACT Driver
-Shoretrooper

this is exactly where i stand. as a kid i almost exclusively collected 3.75. but now as an adult i have no drive to buy anymore 3.75 figures. i think its because as a kid i actually played with them and they fit better in your hand and were more mobile, but now i just like posing 1/12's and setting them on a shelf because they look better.
>>
>>6215376
For me, I collect 3.75 and most of it is for nostalgia. But I also collect G.I. Joes (similar scale) and I'm a fan of having beasts and vehicles in scale with my figures. Sometimes I agree that the sculpt and quality of the 6 inch can be better, but I just like the variety of characters already in the 3.75 scale.

Tall people usually have long arms.
You probably live in the land of manlets and rarely see people over 5'10", so you think having short arms is normal.

Your shoe size should always be the length of your forearm and larger sized feet correlates with height, btw.

>When taking price into account I'd say they're about equal in terms of bang for your buck.
What bull.
Most toys aren't worth the money they go for, especially not the ones that look nothing like the actors. The difference between Hasbro and Figuart's joints isn't even 3x better either like they're priced

And i guess this is why people here defend poorly done overpriced toys so much, because the price they paid must be justified somehow.
>>
>>6218014
Because muh figurarts. That's literally the only reason most people have.

The model kit is totally fine, plus it comes with another droid. But if you think a toy of R2-D2 is worth $40 to you, when it really doesn't do much, go right ahead.

Both look fine.

Gamestop has Black Series wave 9 on their site with that shitty "Give us $25 and we'll give you a random figure" system. Luckily, I wanted most of the figures in that wave and could live with owning the rest. What I got was Snowtrooper, one of the ones I wanted. And I should have known to be careful what I wish for.

Snowtrooper has a big stupid soft plastic skirt that limits his leg articulation badly. He has single jointed elbows, so he can only barely hold his E-11 and can't hold the rifle at all. His backpack doesn't sit very well, and his torso joint is very strange. All forward movement.

It's a shame that things turned out this way. The troopers used to be the consistently good figures in the Black Series. I have most releases of the storm/sandtrooper mold, and a scout trooper as well, but this guy and the shoretrooper I got last month have really robbed me of a lot of enthusiasm for the Black Series.

Paint and sculpt wise he's basically fine. White and cream, shading into tan and grey towards the bottom. I might cut off his skirt and replace it with a cloth one, I dunno.

>>
>>6218860

I want a Bomo Greenbark. I loved, loved, loved Star Wars Dark Times, and I'm still butthurt that the story remains unfinished due to the Disney bullshit.
>>
>>6218812
Regarding the Snowtrooper, you might want to try heating up the bottom half of the skirt and reshaping it a bit. Looking at mine up close there is some give in the design, it's just that the skirt is molded too far inwards close to the feet.

As for your complaints about articulation, you can blame Disney for their retarded policy on visible joints. Be grateful the Snowtrooper can even do 90 degree bend at the elbow.

I finally got around to opening han and I was half expecting him to be a dud, but I think he turned out quite alright. Probably the biggest problem with his head is that his eyes are pretty deeply set, so he looks weird when viewed from even slightly above. It actually looks very close to ford from dead on, it just breaks down from other angles. Other thoughts:

>weakass range on the ankles, it's good his toes work well because there's barely any movement up at the ankle
>the vest likes to ride up above his shirt collar if you're not careful with his shoulders. I wish they'd attatched it at the back, and I might end up gluing it
>the gloved hands are very nice, I wish he had a trigger finger version of at least one
>the holster likes to pop off when you bring the leg too far forward, holsters in general seem to be one thing the black series is way better at

That's interesting, one of the first things I did was put figuarts han next to BS chewie and they're way off. The top of han's head is supposed to come up to chewie's shoulder, so BS han must have been even more undersized if he's shorter than the figuarts.

I was probably gonna skip out on figuarts chewie and just stick with the black series, but I donno, this might be too much of a difference.

>The big question is whether they'll do cloth for Leia's robes or stay with plastic.

The classic Catch 22.

I'm curious, if it was up to you guys, what would you pick? I'd rather have cloth goods because I honestly can't think of a way to have a sculpted dress that wouldn't seriously hinder movement.
>>
>>6219923
OK, crazy idea but I'd like something like maul or the jedi's robes, but longer. Not one piece, but lots of vertical strips molded to look like the pleats she actually has in the dress. They seem like they don't want to use fabric, and kylo's robe showed that trying to do it in an unbroken style doesn't really work.

You're right though, it's absolutely a damned-if-you-do situation. I don't envy them, whatever they end up going with. I know they're on an ep I. kick right now, but maybe they'll just do something easier like her hoth gear first.
>>
>>6219923
Probably a mix of plastic and cloth goods. I like the idea of cloth but it never seems to hang properly on a figure this small, as we've seen on Hasbro's version.
>>
>>6219923
I've said this time and time again, but interchangeable skirt pieces is the way to go, but no one ever seems to do it. Do three separate ones: standing/neutral, splayed/action, and curved for sitting.

With Hasbro producing little, why not go for stuff like that- heck I'd love to buy SA Jedi and Clones all the time as long as they are available. New Geonosis monsters would be incredibly to see- as well as the tiger like creature the Geonosisions ride on with their staffs as well as the Chariot Anakin and Padme ride in.

If Hasbro makes it and it's not overpriced AND I can find it I'll buy it.

Still no sign of the TBS At ST in the UK which I really want.

The time has passed he hasnt gotten even a proper 1st stock much less a second. Think a little or just keep holding onto false hope you will magically find him in target for 19.99.

I'm pretty sure RotJ Luke has faceplates
>>
>>6223987
Why do people keep memeing this?
1 the rogue one costume looks like garbage
2 you are gambling on mafex quality they may totally shit the bed on that vader
3 delays its inevitable
4 possible no lightsaber, if they didnt show it due to spoilers which would be stupid why havent they shown it off now
5 why pay more for an inferior figure?
6 the 1st is only slightly more expensive than a black series. You would be stupid to choose anything but the 1st release.
>>
>>6224513
It does, mostly so you can mix and match the faces with the different hairpieces. Also, does anyone know how farmboy luke's head works? Is it a peg like the rotj one or a balljoint like the newer ones?
>>
>>6224515
>1 the rogue one costume looks like garbage
It looks exactly the same as all the other ones in
>>6223975
>>
>>6224522
You must be blind if you legitimately think that. Use your eyes. There are large differences in the ROTS vs the 1st release og vader. The rogue one has a different pauldron/silver chest peice shaping and color than the first. No cape chain and the cape is ugly tucked in under the neck. Eye lenses are the shit red/brown on R1 rather than the superior black lenses on the 1st release. Helmet shaping is different. Subtle differences in belt and chest button plate. The R1's codpeice looks like a diaper and has a very prominent indentation that can only be described as a dick indentation. There are more subtle differences but I wont continue to spoonfeed a normie that cannot tell his vaders apart.

Above all else though, what makes the R1 a clearly inferior figure is the fact it wont come with an unmasked head, a facemask with detached upper helmet. And probably less hand options and likely no lightsaber.
>>
>>6224549
>Above all else though, what makes the R1 a clearly inferior figure is the fact it wont come with an unmasked head, a facemask with detached upper helmet.
honestly I was with you for everything else, but you lost me here. The head is my only problem with their first vader, the unhelmeted feature is just poorly implemented. If the new one's helmet is one piece and avoids the top spinning around on a fragile peg like a propeller beanie, than I'd consider that an improvement.

That said, unknown QC is the biggest and maybe only reason to shy away from the RO version. Once it's out, and assuming it's not a mess, it all comes down to personal taste.
>>
>>6224561
True but I like having more options for less money. It for sure wont have the severed robot hand option though and thats my favorite peice. Im still skeptical about the hand options and any extras the r1 will come with but we will see when final pics are shown off. That and the cloth looks a bit worse than the 1st release. The weave is larger and more visable throwing off the scale and getting into that 1/12 doll clothing looking weird area.
>>
>>6224549
and I bet none of those will be noticeable in person unless you jam your chubby little face directly into it. Towards the crotch, most likely, since you seem to be obsessed with it.
>>
>>6224577
Anyone who has actually seen star wars more than once knows there are major differences between ANH and the ESB vader. Sorry you got told how stupid you are but no need to be pissy. You are clearly blind if you cannot notice those differences or willfully ignorant. Run along now normie go pretend your vaders are all the same.
>>
>>6224590
I love how mad you got just because I don't think there's a difference between two or three star wars dolls :)

The x-wing miniatures line makes one, their stuff is small but has some pretty incredible detail. The titanium series line is alright, but they're taking their goddamned time even making the tie variations from the main movies, so I wouldn't hold your breath on that front.

they seem to enjoy flipping the bird at the New Canon rules. Went and gave us friggin Mara Jade as a character. I am honestly shocked they haven't done some vehicles from other video games like the Rogue Shadow. That is one that could be both a rebel and imperial vessel.

Yeah i mean he isnt great, the articulation is shit which is surprising because the 3.75" ones or theres this other ig model i forgot the number had some of the best articulation in that line he was incredibly fun to play with and you could do really wacky and expressive posing. This one not so much. The paint and the sculpting look great however.

I have been wanting him for a while being a sucker for BHs, hes at least 45$ or so on ebay so im still happy. Now i just need bossk.

I don't know man, maybe by a millimeter or so given the scale. Doesn't bother me though.

My biggest gripe is the holster which pops off whenever you even think about moving his right leg.

This is one of their better Star Wars releases for me. Vader was a huge (yet so small) let down, ANH Luke was overall meh, and ROTJ Luke while great, doesn't live up to the hype and isn't that fun to pose.
