Good interview with the hasbro guys. I'll try to sum it up

>F4 can be used, but not feasible to dedicate a wave
>Hasbro guys BS about distribution and release schedule, clearly out of their hands and not something they deal with.
>non-confirmation on possibly future characters, in 3.75 and 6inch, they cannot say anything
>X-men wave 3 planned for 2018, wave 4 possibly on the way for 2019
>Hasbro not fully aware of what characters Fox is using in their films, so waves cannot always reflect this
>parts, plastic and so forth is budgeted out of a year, not per figure or wave and it is tricky to give accessories as often as we want them
>Marvel V Capcom size NOT confirmed, characters not confirmed, amount of releases not confirmed, merely mentioned it is happening.
>Mantis done as BAF because she was a new mold. Molds not originally run as a BAF cannot become BAFs without retooling. Mantis was either BAF or not at all.
>open to non-figure BAFs. Hover chair, jet, who knows, maybe?
>phoenix 5 not happening
>blade seems likely

>>
>>6208626
it was just in a pile of the dormammu wave shelf warmers (the whole fucking set) and it was my last baf piece so i figured it was time, really the only figure in the wave worth getting besides the doctor stranges imo
>>
>>6208629
I like the iron fist from the wave, too. The effects pieces are really cool. Wish I could find Legends anywhere for under $20. The stores that carry them in my city never, ever put them on clearance, except for TRU, but that's only on 2 and 3-packs. I still see Hobgoblin and Thanos figures for full price. Anyone else experience this?
>>
>>6208652
amazon or ebay? I've only payed retail price when figures came out
>>
>>6208652
oh yeah, i forgot about the iron fist figure, im an idiot, i've got it on my shelf right next to my desk.
my local walmart and tru have the odin and the thanos wave for 7.50, but they typically only have sentry, machine man, spider woman and hellcat
>>
>>6208652
None of the stores around me ever clearance stuff. Amazon does it all the time, but I think the cheapest I've gotten a legends figure at retail was like 16 bucks one for time anya spider-girl.
>>

amazon is dog shit, they've got all these figures listed for as low as 10 bucks, but you have to have a prime account to even order them

>>6208629
I went into. Walmart today with 2 fresh cases of Dormammu on the side of an end-cap, in a special cardboard display. Weirdest thing I've seen for MLs yet.

What's the consensus on wave 1 of the 12" figures here? A GameStop near me has all of them clearanced to $30 each, with the BOGO50 deal in effect as well. Would they be worth picking up at that price with the intention of giving them to my son in few years when he's 5?
>>
>>6208668
Target will price-match Amazon.
>>
I got everyone in the GotG Vol. 2 wave except for Drax and Dark Hawk.

I want Dark Hawk, but I don't want Drax...but also my 'tism won't let me have a gimped Titus.

I mean, you say that, but in ny, they've been on sale in every store that carries toys and several that don't. They all sell out, not immediately, but at a reasonable pace. Enough to get restocks that also sell out.

Okay complete newbie here. Only collect SW TBS Found the cool 3.75" scale Marvel Legends figures at Forbidden Planet
https://forbiddenplanet.com/217357-guardians-of-the-galaxy-vol-2-marvel-legends-action-figure-2-pack-starlord-yondu/
as well as the Doctor Strange set

BUT for £27.99 each. Why are they so expensive?
I know Forbidden Planet usually overcharge but why that price?

As someone who owns both, the Hasbro is much better overall. Toy Biz's version was my default Wolverine for years but it's just not as good as the Hasbro.

Toy Biz's was and still is a great figure but the Hasbro one blows it away for several reasons:

>more accurate height
>more accurate colors
>more accurate claw length
>extra set of hands
>no bowling ball hips

Honestly the only thing the TB one beats the Hasbro one on is the head sculpt, and the X belt.

Other than the likely useless toe and finger joints, I don't see any more articulation on the Toybiz than the Hasbro.
I don't really know where you're getting more paint paint on the TB from either, are there hairs on the arms? The teeth? Admittedly I myself do wish the hairy arms was done on the Hasbro, but it still looks fine to me.

Eh, I'm not big on finger/toe joints, most of the ones I've encountered just end up getting either super loose or, in the toe case especially, too tight to even move.

Toes are fine, but they're sort of at odds with the soft-ratchets legends have. I don't think they'd work with the soft plastic most legends use for their feet either. And god help whoever they gave them too, they'd probably end up on a double friction peg instead of a pin.

Found these at my local target just now. I opened up Star Lord before realizing that I should check their price right now. They're at $40 each, but I love them so much that I might as well just open them.
They had Yondu, Angela and Nova left from Galaxy line, and shatterstar, Polaris and one Logan left for the xmen line. No cyclops sadly.

I didn't notice it until i took a picture of it, so you probably won't notice it just having it around or taking close ups with strong lighting.

Also, do you have an office with a bunch of electronics and AC going? It won't happen in your normal rooms.

Also also, keep a brush around. Dust your shit once a week. Any $1 paint brush works, better than a duster or puffy make up brush.
>>
ALL I FUCKING WANT IS JUGGERNAUT WAVE WOLVERINE

IS THAT SO MUCH TO ASK FOR
>>
>>6213942
Yeah, I try to dust my shit pretty regularly, usually with canned air, but even a week or so's worth looks extra bad on fabric. And I wasn't kidding about the gloves bit, I've got slightly oilier-than-average hands. I bought a black series kylo around the time TFA came out and his cloth looks a mess a year later.

I applaud mezco for making it look good, which was no small feat, but it's just not for me.

The film is in-development at sony. Marvel seems keen on the idea as well. I just wonder if we'll get S6 or Thunderbolts. I was meh on a S6 movie before, but a S6 movie in the MCU Id be all for. Even if it takes a few years. Keaton will is 60, he'll only get older and likely more perfect to play an old ass vulture.

Nope.

If I had to stash something when I was a kid, I'd shove it deep into some pillows or under under a rack. Now I just buy shit.

If you're in a position as an adult and feel the need to stash shit to buy later, you need to take a hard look at your income, expenses, habits, and budget.
>>
>>6215349

>>

>and without his coat, his shoulders look ridiculous.
That's just how it is for characters with vests and jackets. You can't make it thin enough to work like a real coat would so you've gotta sculpt everything else to compensate.

>Below the waist, he's incredibly skinny
Yeah, that's a thing I've noticed on other figures. Movie scarlet witch in particular had it pretty bad, maybe it's the same person's handiwork.

If you're doing this you're literally an idiot. You could have sold that toybiz cyclops a year ago when the new one was announced for 40 bucks or more. Now that the new one is out, no one wants it. If you planned ahead and sold while the market was hot though..... man. You could have made money. Even now someone could buy it for 20 from target and sell it for 30.

But you're a petty thief, so cant expect you to be too intelligent.
>>
>>6215248
There's a lot of parts reuse from the original Star Lord figure, with tweaked textures, that's why. That figure had skinny legs so the whole trench coat fit over him and didn't look bad.

>>6215611

You're too stupid for words. The demand for it was higher a year ago. The price, was higher. They went for 40-50 bucks, loose. You waited, and now they tend to only go for 30 cause everyone is dumping them cause of the new one. That's 30 dollars, not 20 that goes right back to target. You're basically giving target 20 dollars and someone else however much they profit off the toybiz fig.At the risk of dealing with target loss prevention police too. If you think Im joking on that google some stories about target making a case against people. You won't be able to fight them in court.

But you're like "lol, i got a figure for free, suckers" and not seeing what a dumbass you are. Enjoy your "free" figure. You clearly have little to no grasp on money.

Well Hasbro does have that new Avengers and GOTG lines that are based on their DXD cartoons. The figures though are pretty bad for collectors.

>WE WERE GOING TO GET A:EMH TOYS!?

No we weren't.

That Hulk is from the Fantastic Four: World's Greatest Superheroes cartoon that aired on Cartoon Network back in 2006-2007. Toy Biz planned a whole line of figures based on the cartoon but the line got canceled when retailers refused to carry the line after getting stuck with TONS of figures from the Fantastic Four movie line. It's a shame cause the line looked outstanding despite the cartoon being pretty shitty.
>>
>>6210975
It adds some visual interest in a way that doesn't fuck with the integrity of the design much. I'm pretty satisfied with the way the MCU is handling most costumes, honestly. We've come a long way from the old days of "comics are silly so let's try to distance ourselves from those outfits as far as possible." X-Men 1 black suits, anyone? Nowadays for the MOST part we're getting recognizable outfits with some updates to the materials or slight tweaks to the designs to make them work in the "real" world, which is probably the most respectable method possible.

Anyway, I don't see why you're so broken up about it. We've gotten two good "basic" ML Spideys recently (Pizza and teenage body) so it's not like this was your only shot at one. Just don't buy it if you don't like the black lines.

Picked up my first Marvel Legend today. Normally a Star Wars guy but also really love Guardians of the Galaxy so I figured I'd collect the guys from the comics and the new movie. Wtf, guys. Why does Hasbro love Marvel so much more than Star Wars? This face sculpt and face paint is amazing compared to whatever Black Series comes out with. Double jointed elbows. Swappable heads. SA 3.75" figures on pegs too. I know they're separate teams but why is the quality gap between the lines this high?
>>
>>6215850
to be fair Hasbro is only just now really starting to do a decent job with Legends and even then some aren't as good as others. plus they have paint budgets apparently so I think Black Series spends that on shit like cloth clothing instead of good paint work.
>>
>>6215850
We've actually been asking that question a lot lately. The legends bump in quality is fairly recent though, google comparisons to the first movie star lord.

It's basically a new thing as of the GOTG Vol.2 wave. Before that, headsculpts of real people were pretty much trash.

You SHOULD look into other Legends in general though, cause a lot of the comic styled and/or masked figures are quite good. It's just their facial likenesses relating to real actors that used to suck.
>>
>>6215981
I think kitty pryde and silk were two standouts, so probably around the first x-men/space venom waves. New star lord really is on another level, though.
>>
>>6215981
its not so much a specific wave and more various figures. though if I had to pick a Wave I'd go with the Juggernaut or Space Knight Venom Wave and everything after them has been all around good. but again there have been figures that are good going back as far as the Winter Soldier Wave.

You're confusing paint with sculpt.
Sculpts have always been spot on.
>>
>>6216062
That still looks like shit compared to the new Star-Lord headsculpt.
>>
>>6216062
Nah, even the repaint can't save this. It just doesn't look like Pratt. I will admit that Hasbro's headsculpts are usually ruined by their paintjobs, but this is not one of those cases. This is just a bad head all around.
>>
>>6216062
>Sculpts have always been spot on.
Except that still looks terrible. That Star-Lord was one of the rare exceptions where Hasbro completely flubbed the sculpt in which not even a good repaint could save it.
>>
>>6215658
>No we weren't.

The post I replied to also said "EMH Wasp".

That cartoon FF line looks decent, too.
>>
>>6215850
Hasbro also can cut corners. They have been using the same body molds for years, since most Marvel characters that have made use the same mold and either paint it differently, or add straps and harnesses to it.
I have 8 ML and 3 of them share one mold, while 2 others share another mold.
I have 9 Black series figures and only 2 of them share the same mold. Sandtrooper and Storm trooper.

Such exaggerations.
It's nowhere close to being bad and not even mediocre. If these were graded like grade school, it'd be a B+.
In low light or in profile, to allow the sculpt to shine through, it's almost photographic.
>>
>>6216944
It's pretty bad dude. You can keep living in denial and insisting that all of us are wrong and you are right, but it don't change facts.

The face is just lacking something essential. It doesn't look like Chris Pratt to me, it looks like a generic white guy (whereas the news GOTGv2 sculpt is undeniably Pratt). I think also one of the biggest problems is the hairline. It's too clean and smooth, and leaves this big gaping expanse of forehead. In the movie, Pratt's hair droops over on the right side and falls into his forehead (a detail which the v2 sculpt captured). His hair is also fairly limp and flat in the movie, and the sculpt makes it look big and puffy and/or windblown.
>>
Yeah, as far as the first movie Star Lord figure is concerned, I'd say it's not bad as far as ML face sculpts go. It definitely resembles a a human face better than some might have in the past. But that human face just is not Chris Pratt's. It's almost on the same tier as the movie Cap heads that are very clearly in no way based on Chris Evans' likeness, because for whatever reason Hasbro doesn't seem to have those rights.

It's cool how everyone liked the sculpt back when it was released, if not for the paint, and for years afterward.
Then you guys come in saying it's bad and doesn't look like Pratt. It's almost like you guys haven't watched the movie in years and your memory of him has become grainy and you've idealized him..

And he has a pretty expansive forehead. Deal with it.
>>
>>6217889
His hairline in that pic looks even LESS like the figure.

I never thought the figure looked good, even after repainting. Also, those who may have liked the figure in the past are free to change their minds. Sometimes you don't know how bad you've got it until something better comes along and you realize "hey, I've been settling for crap all this time!"
>>
>>6218027
Uh, i used the image to reference how his hair changes in almost every scene and depending on what he's doing. His hairline is pretty balding in general, just like the toy.

Who knows what Hasbro referenced to come up with the sculpted hair but they most certainty did use a photo or 10 to make his sculpt, if not a 3d scan of the actor.

>hey, I've been settling for crap all this time!
Are you ten? Blind?
There's no way anyone older than 16 would change their view on what someone looks like, unless they FORGOT, hence your grainy memory.
