Welcome to the LEGO General, where we talk about sharks

Thread Challenge:
Build a tiny car
first for shark
>>6208356
is that a zombo shark or a robo shark?
Am I allowed to post this again
Phenomenal wave
>>6208265
>armed for the minifig apocalypse?
nope, I decided to actually follow through with the idea, pèopped some threads ago, that the minifigs in costume are actually a band of criminals with a theme.
And what better equipment or a gang than a dog-themed, armored van?
>>>6208273
The clercks at my LEGO store are starting to recognize me a bit. i hope one day I'll have the cool relationship with tem tha a lot of anons seem to have.
>>6208346
>Thread challenge is actually one proposed in the last thread
YES!
any new Ideas? build something Shark/zombie because of the new, mysterious zombie shark?
>>6208346
THICC
>>6208363
Still hype for cornman
>>6208363
>phenomenal wave
>only the bulldog, the hotline miami guy and the corn cob are any good
What did he mean by this?
>>6208372
>not armybuilding bunbuns
I'm gonna have so many med students
>>6208372
>hotline miami guy
Want to know how I know youre a pleb?
>>6208372
>hotline miami guy
Holy shit, didn't think about that. Would be a good idea for a build
>>6208375
vice city sucks ass
>>6208372
But that retro spaceman though
>>6208380
>vice city
This has to be a troll, right?
>>6208356
HOOOOLYYY SHIIIT.
it exists!
Please give links to that facebook (?) place?
>>6208380
>raging intensifies
>>6208382
>(You)
>>6208382
>the 80s becomes a meme decade and nobody born after 1990 believes it actually existed
Here's tiny space cars from an idea that never went anywhere.
>>6208389
Like people said in past threads, it only exists as Paradisa cocaine wars.
>>6208392
>Spare Race.jpg
nice cars!
>>6208356
That's a pretty neat glowing eye effect.
I wonder if it's just photoshop.
>>6208363
oh I didn't even notice the elf lady. Looks like she has a golden sword
Too fucking bad all the retailers around here never goddamn have the CMFs. FUCK.
>>6208363
I don't dislike the set, but why did we need another surfer when we have one in a bunch of recent sets?
And I wish the berserker dorf was just different. I can't put my finger on it, but I don't like it even though I like me some dorfs
>>6208407
It's the same guy from before, the one who asked for the lambo pics. I love this stuff dude.
http://surmalegobros.blogspot.com
here's a blog I found displaying neat (primarily classic space) fanart. it's apparently been on haitus for over a year, but it's got several years worth of drawings
hey check out my demon people
>>6207697
>the volkswagen beetle set is cool but is obviously too big
>theres a smaller version
>just below minifig scale
I guess I'm spending tonight making a 6 wide version
>>6208429
lewder
>>6208425
whoa, really nice job on the limbs.
and the rest of it
>>6208356
Where is this photo from?
>>6208411
I think the surfer is there mainly for that bitchin' sharkboard.
But that's just me, and I'm getting everything but the Frenchman and the Lady of the Blue Baseplate.
>>6208414
Have you seen CRIME TIME
>>6208425
Whoa, I love those arms
>>6208425
That is pretty great
here's the sword n board guy compared to a robotic knight
>>6208434
thanks anon
I really want to figure out ball joints for the shoulders on this scale somehow. I have an idea but I don't think I have the parts for it...
>>6208440
I like this one more!
THE DEMONS ARE COMINGGGG
>>6208363
Can't wait for that Lego "Flash Gordon" dude and the classic rocket costume boy. Really glad I picked up "Ming the Merciless" CMF since I almost skipped him.
Any recent sets come with a cat?
>>6208410
Looks like the Elf has Finn the Human's sword.
>>6208397
thanks anon!
they're in pieces now.
>>6208445
heeey, I remember that mechanical knight from some other thread.
Are these yours?
>>6208425
Kind of reminds me of Juggernaut from Kill Six Billion Demons.
Awesome.
>>6208455
Maybe swap out the helmet for the blond hair from the dog show guy.
>>6208459
Nope, that'd be me.
>>6208461
I can think of a good use for the helmet
Any corsets in bley?
>>6208474
neato. Nice beholder, too.
>>6208473
Reminds me of Wallace and Gromit
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t8T8bStabq0
>>6208474
Do you have any mixel eyes?
>>6208410
Lol, I live in the middle of nowhere and several stores have them.
>>6208491
A decent amount. Why do you ask?
>>6208363
why are we getting a new raygun?
(one with no stud points either)
>>6208369
I see, sweet, do they have any other quirks/gimmicks?
>>6208392
adorable/10
would romp around lunar surface with.
>>6208505
I'd like to see that large beholder with lots of googly eyes.
>>6208514
>why are we getting a new raygun?
>(one with no stud points either)
It looks like it's two pieces
>>6208474
that beholder is rad
>>6208520
>looks like it's two pieces
what?
seems a bit silly considering no new space themes anytime soon
>>6208527
Space 2018 Confirmed!
>>6208527
I assume we'll be seeing the front half in another set sometime this summer.
I wanted to make a fleshie sigfig, but since I'm black options are limited enough to justify me buying these dimensions funpacks, and since pieces are pieces I made this out of the van and cyborg-bot.
The different grays bother me too, but I limited myself to the 2 funpacks.
>>6208536
So you're saying you're NOT a cyborg?
>>6208363
>rocket man
>corn cobb man
yes
>>6208548
I neither affirm nor deny that
Another successful heresy
Onto the mystery number visor
>>6208557
what's the goal here
>>6208560
A masked fig that isn't a disgusting fleshie
And not having to pay $8.50 plus shipping for an opaque white visor
>>6208557
ZEMO
>>6208565
so he's not supposed to eventually resemble someone else?
>>6208570
No, I just got Adding Machine Guy for parts. Sweet white space armor, a tile 1x1 with calculator pattern, the aforementioned non-$8.50 white visor, and a purple mask. Plus sick purple abs.
>went to Lego store a year or so back
>their build a fig section had a face with mutton chops
>I can make a sigfig!
>don't end up buying it
Could I even end up finding it again? Looking for it on BL I just find ones with like a broken/gapped tooth.

>>6208585
Flying Dutchman with the zombie sherk
>>6208536

>>6208581
is this the new space limo meme set
>>6208585
literally every Lego pirate ship besides this one and the imperial flagship is a big canoe
>>6208584
Thanks anon. Some of these look pretty good.
>>6208590
Yeah, you can't see them with his armor on, but I was pleasantly surprised.
>>6208519
I think one anon has done that already.
>>6208596
I was surprised too...
I'm happy to see the Lego Batman minifig packs are still keeping good circulation after the film. Fear the demand would spike.
>>6208603
How do you make poses like that?
>>6208604
> that face
lmao get the real one
When I'm heresying, it's always cool to see how Lego lays down the layers of printing.
Like, I knew that they always lay down the black layer last, and that there would be green underneath, but I was not prepared for it to look this pretty. I thought the green print would just be confined to the area where the numbers are.
>>6208606
looks like he's just using a third, unattached minifig arm
>>6208607
The head is from the bats that has the inflatable duck.
>>6208606
The arm that's touching the chin is not the same arm that's attached to the torso.
The one touching the chin is stuck to the front of the torso with sticky-tack.
>>6208474
Nice Cacodemon
>>6208363
Gladiator better have a net.
>Get paid today
>Get the rest of my tax return
>Spend $400+ on klocki
Bretty good day. Too bad I'm working all weekend so I can't really build it all.
>>6208649
It's not a race, it's a journey.
>>6208653
Indeed it is.
I took two resistance trooper pack shitty ships and moc'd a bigger shitty ship. Still not much for the first order transport
I moc'd a shitty ship for the resistance!
>girlfriend dumped me
>working a job I hate, for a company I don't give a shit about, making an amount of money that's embarrassing for a man my age
Should I buy the Temple of Airjitzu?
>>6208672
If it will allow you to momentarily escape the truths of your reality, then I say go for it.
>>6208670
Stupid double post.
This is the rest of the resistance. Plus the transport for comparisson
>>6208672
If building it would help ease your mind enough that you can meditate on how to improve your current situation and you've properly allocated enough money to other more important things like food and shelter, I'd say go for it.
Are there any good promotions or double VIP days coming up anytime soon?
And that's that!
The TLBM movie CMF™ figs have really, really tough printing. I completely understand why the anon a few threads ago had immediately regretness.
>>6208676
It's worth modding the Transport to have at least ~8-12 studs of length, imho. Vanilla version looks squished.
>>6208574
>non-$8.50 white visor
you purist tendencies are mysterious and confusing to me
What're you planning for the plain white visor, anyway?
how do I get replacement sticker sheets?
>>6208696
>What're you planning for the plain white visor, anyway?
I dunno lol
I just thought it looked cool when spacebike anon posted some bikers with them. 'sides, I don't just use Legos.
>>6208672
You ask that like anyone here will challenge you. It's a huge set and you are going through a rough spot.
>>6208695
Oh man that's an idea. I guess i could see it it souls hold a shitton more troops
>>6208676
are you the world's only Resistance fan?
Does anybody have these figures?
Can Eruptorr's arms be removed? Can the Rancor's/other bigfig arms be placed on there?
How do Rancor's arms look on other bigfigs/monsters?
>>6208724
Lol ain't that some shit. I guess I am. Tho secretly I want them to lose. And to kill the nigger...
>>6208363
I have a mighty need for every day career figs, plus the guy with the cell, frenchie with frenchie, cob man and rocket boy.
>>6208722
Or a bed and an entertainment center.
>>6208727
>Can Eruptorr's arms be removed?
yes
>Can the Rancor's/other bigfig arms be placed on there?
I don't own a Rancor so I'm not sure. Pictures it looks like a narrower fit so it might work but be loose
Bought the pizza truck, good purch, recommend it.
I didn't expect these prints though, or their doubles, nice cherry on top.
>>6208760
>Calculator Man's calculator isn't as nice as the ones in the pizza truck
It's not fair
>>6208363
I'll get surfer dude for the board and give it to my sharkman, the hotdog guy will be good for his accessories, Jane O' Arc has a nice hairpiece, I like the classic muscleman all around, 80s man is cool, only getting frenchy for the dog, trident warrior will join my ancient fighters team, CORN, classic space hero looks neat, I'll only get the aerobic girl for her hair and cup because it's got that new piece, and as for the dwarf...

>>6208769
In fairness his display screen for the numbers was his helmet. Would be rather strange to have two screens.
>>6208779
So first he can only do addition and subtraction
Then he has to take off the helmet to see the result
Best powers ever.

Please guys, animate that image and use this audio.
>>6208760
The Friends pizzeria is a better set. Both as a partpack and a complete set. Really.

gifsound.com/?gif=https://media.giphy.com/media/xTiN0x9maEXexyvcfC/source.gif&v=XCiDuy4mrWU
>>6208801
I was torn between the two. The vespa and hair pieces made me choose 60150.
>>6208782
>So first he can only do addition and subtraction
The pad isn't for addition or subtraction. It's for analyzing and record heroes battle tactics and the equal sign button is to processes the numbers for the solution of the problem before him (if he had enough data). His whole shtick is seeing the world through math( with the suit) and solving it as such.
>Then he has to take off the helmet to see the result
No he can see it fine on. Remember the numbers are inverted on his helmet when you are facing him, meaning his side of the visor would show the numbers. It's why it reads "hello" our direction.
>>6208832
>Remember the numbers are inverted on his helmet when you are facing him
Then all the numbers are backwards for him
>>6208363
Does every single character in this wave have a new element, either prop or hair or animal?
That's gotta be a first.
>>6208858
Surfer, Strongman, Soda Jerk, Dwarf and Barbarian don't have any new elements, do they?
>>6208863
Forgot about the soda for Soda Jerk, never mind
But the other four don't have any new elements, just new printing, or am I missing things
>>6208672
It is currently on sale on amazon
It's just heresy and gold on mixel joints but I'm pretty okay with it
>>6208688
>>6208693
>>6208769
How do you make your minifigs look, for a lack of a better phrase, so soft?
>>6208878
Quick Photoshop process.
Auto-contrast to make the blacks and colors stand out, auto-tone to get rid of the yellow tint to the white pieces and make them bright white, some Shadows/Highlights tweaking if the white pieces are overly bright, then some playing with the Brightness and Contrast sliders, lightening or darkening the image as needed, and raising the contrast 60-100%.
This picture I just went auto-contrast, auto-tone, and cranked up the contrast.
Here's a before and after with a quick auto-contrast, auto-tone, increase contrast.
The increased contrast is the most immediately useful tool, so if you don't have Photoshop, get Gimp and try its version of contrast controls. The reason the contrast works is because it reduces the gradient that the 3D plastic creates as light reflects off its curved surfaces. Cranking up the contrast makes it look less like a three-dimensional piece of plastic and more like a two-dimensional cartoon. It also brightens the colors to a level that's a little unnatural, but not unpleasantly so, which also adds to the illusion that it's not just a photo of a toy.
Did any of that make sense, I'm not a light scientist.
>>6208863
Upon (much) closer inspection:
Surfer has Luke Skywalker hair
Dorf has repaint of Thor's hammer
but
Isn't gladiator's hair new?
And strongman's barbell?
>>6208921
I'm pretty sure Gladiator's hair already came out in black, and the barbell is just a 3L rod with two Technic ball joints on the ends, I think
>>6208363
>80s dude
>flower girl
>rocket boy

It must have sold out, because the only listings on Amazon are all well above retail price, at least in the US. However, it is on sale at LEGO's online store, at quite a significant discount.
What fucking cock goblin thought it was a good idea for this fire to be attached to the skull? I was really excited for a flaming headpiece for any number of minifigs!

What are the odds that Lego will skip over making Lion King sets when the CG remake comes out because it has no humans in it?
>>6209001
The odds of Lion King being skipped over for that reason are almost zero; it will, however, be skipped for other reasons. The Jungle Book and upcoming Beauty and the Beast aren't getting LEGO sets, and they both feature at least one human.
>>6209001
It will get Brickheadz. Thats all.
>[Muffled whispered 'aayy lmao']
Are the greys popular cmfs? Because honestly I think they're way cooler than shit like hotdog man and sharksuit guy.
>>6209016
I love them and fish I had more than 4. Sadly the eyes are VERY easy to scratch, so I had to sell many I got from sellers :/
>>6209023
>the eyes are VERY easy to scratch
Thanks for the heads up. I'll be sure to be careful with mine in that case.
>>6208973
There's always the alternative.
Also, I'm pretty sure the reasoning for Kragling the Ghost Rider flame is that the flame part is too fragile by itself; see the section where it tapers into the skull.

A gem that Starlord was only able to hold because he was not simply a meme.
He was BORN from them. Some could say MOLDED by them.
His father is, after all, the great Kurt Russel. EGO, the living planet. Mr. Burton himself.
And we are going to get to hear him explain how he knocked up SLs mom. With his planet sized cock.
The memes ALWAYS intensify.

Guardians vol. 2
when is it? may? april?
Apparently its a funny scene from what the actors and test audiences say, but we all know how THAT particular rabbit hole goes.
Im just happy about Babby Groot personally. And his babby fig is stellar.
Shit, im actually sad now, just had a thought.
Imagine if it had been BOWIE playing SLs dad....a year too soon. Would have been a good MOVIE send off for him. Blackstar and the accompanying videos were a good MUSICAL send off.
>>6209141
that's not a minifig
>>6209148
It's April, obviously I'm hyped for the second film I was just kidding back there. Bowie's death sucks though, but he had a good life, at somepoint we also have to cope with the fact there will be future Marvel films with no Stan Lee cameos for the same reason.
>>6208307
I want to hug Blacktron girl
I want to MARRY Blacktron girl
>>6209153
Nah man, difference is the mouse.
See, the MOUSE decides things. I would not be surprised IN THE LEAST if there was some kind of crazy, huxley style clause in Stan the MANS contract that allowed the MOUSE to scan him. Fully.
Naked.
Full 3D scan.
Much like Edward D Wood (jr) did back in the day with about 12 minutes of footage of Legosi, The MOUSE did it with LEE.
Lee will go on to beat Lugosi for being used the most in movies posthumously. Think about it, Disney gave us a young Mike Douglas and a VERY YOUNG RDJ. SEAMLESS CGI.
It was a test and a tech demo one in the same. People raved about how good both were (myself included. Its AMAZING.). Once Lee dies.....
he will ultimately become immortal through CGI. Owned by the house of mouse.
Stans contract expires 2113. Mickeys will be up for review at around the same time.
>>6209160
And to add to that, Keith Richards will be the last remaining stone to be alive, through some chunk of meme magic, music and drugs.
>>6209122
I think I'll be good.
>>6209160
Well they did CG Princess Leia into Rouge One, so it's not impossible they wouldn't do that to Stan, but I'm not sure if they would/should. My friend and I had the speculation that the very last Stan Lee cameo would be either at his funeral or a shot of his grave stone in someway. IF they did go with that future CG Stan cameos would seem very out of place.
>>6209165
eh, not really. Stan is, afterall, "The Watcher". They will use him from now on, in some way shape or form. Think, if they literally pissed on leias grave the way they did, what stops them?
Although, honestly, if they had him show up ONCE, as the watcher, like a LAST cameo, even just narration, one EXCELSIOR or TRUE BELIEVER, and left it at that.......
The perfect send off. And this is me KNOWING what a true dick he was to Kirby and the others. Like him or hate him, he was involved. Its like the people who refuse to like Ozzy black sabbath versus Dio black sabbath. Too bad cunts, they both did their part.
>>6209122
No chance bro!
>>6209168
>Think, if they literally pissed on leias grave the way they did, what stops them?
Are you talking about cgi leia in rogue 1?
That wasn't really pissing on her grave, it was made while she was still alive

>Avenger plotting new course
It's totally not the Shield Helicarrier, X-Coms Avenger. Not to be mistaken for The Avengers, a team of superhumans assembled by Shield.
Anyway. Did I mention how much I love Microfighters? I think Lego is out of their minds for not expanding the line beyond star wars vehicles.
Well this one isn't quite Microfighter scale. They're usually about 100~ pieces and my Microfighter Avenger is 200~ pieces. Still tho, was lots of fun to build. Even though it was stupid fucken hard finding good reference images.
>>6209171

Psssh, nothin personal, kid.
Also finding appropriate parts that match up with super specific and detailed character designs is really god damn hard.
>no fingerless gloves minifig hands.
I think we both could have used a pair of those.
>>6209170
Its her supposed appearance in episode 8 and 9 that worries me. And honestly, come on, that CGI was a piss jug thrown at her soon to be grave, Julian.
I kid, I kid, but KEK himself had to be looking down and seeing that one of her last tweets was her bitching about how bad the CGI was and how bad the fan reaction to it was.

I know its all the joke but right now im arguing with one guy on another site.
He says that back in the day lego sets were better because they allowed to build more easily.
While now lego makes sets with pieces that cant be used anywhere else.
And he shown this picture as an example of a bad "NEW" lego set that ruins fun because even if it has more bricks than older ones, those pieces are bad and cant be used outside of this set.
What the fuck.

No. City sets tend to be just facsimiles so you can easily get in and play with them. Modulars are a lot more detailed, and closed off.
If you put a City set next to your modular, it'd probably look like they're filming an old-timey movie on the street.

I'd say that was probably closer to true around 2000, but Lego has steadily moved back away from that. There's more specialized pieces sure, but they can easily be used for lots of different things. It just lets you shape, smooth and texture a bit easier.
It's not like plain bricks and plates have gone away though.

Some upbeat music mostly. When it's a set or i just got something new in i'll specifically choose something easygoing like some reaggae/dub, 80's new-wave stuff or oldskool techno and acid. Most building comes out of the blue whener inspiration strikes though, the majority of these moments are when i'm up late keeping myself awake with some early hardcore. These are also the moments where i'll just sit on a chair with my setup and cars simulating car noises in my mind.
Podcasts and speech are generally a bit too distracting for me, it's already impossible for me to watch something with speech while eating cereal.

After doing a few Space Miner games, I figured out a way to make the glowing helmets, etc. look better. Before, the reflection from the UV lightbulbs showed up as obvious bright blue circles on smooth pieces (helmets, etc), and cast a noticeable blue light over the entire scene.
Around the second episode of Cleft 18, I got wise and started using the Hue/Saturation slider tool to first completely desaturate the blues in the photo, then the accompanying Lightness slider for that color.
The end result is that the blue light becomes gray, and then you can use the slider to adjust the brightness of the (no longer blue) light to darken it to match the surroundings. Once you get it right, you can make it look like something is glowing with its own light, WITHOUT having any of the surroundings lit up.
The downside to this is that if you have any blues in the scene, the color will get washed out and become jarringly darker than the surroundings.
>>6209261
Triggered
>>6209586
Compare that pic to this one, where you can see blue reflections on several surfaces.
So basically, this technique makes really cool glow in the dark shots, but at the cost of not being able to have blue in the picture.
However, if you're just using a lot of trans-medium blue pieces to create the glow, then it actually enhances the look.

Don't you think that it could be the TLBM equivalent of the Double Decker Couch set? Like the DDC, it would be a cheap and easy way of getting the film's major characters. Unlike the DDC, it would also come with exclusive character variants, making the set desirable even to those who already bought the regular versions of those minifigs.
The build that it comes with doesn't have to be the bed if you think that would bump up the cost.

The licensing for TLBM would increase price and The Joker Balloon Escape (Joker + Batman) costs $15 already - so there is no way they would release a set containing Batman, Robin, Batgirl and Joker for $15.

>>6209608
OK, ate some eggs and back for more. I wrote this last November, so I'm just going to copy paste it.
This is what my Legoverse looks like from outside time and space. I shoot really high skies, wide vistas, and other angles that make using a real lightbox impractical, so I turned my room into one. Those two pole lights each have three bulbs on them, regular CFL bulbs on the top two spots and UV blacklight CFL bulbs on the bottom ones. I got the lights at Walmart for $20 each. If you can't get your hands on stand-up lights, the main thing to making your pictures look good is understanding bounce lighting.
TO BE CONTINUED in next post
Here's the way the lights are positioned when I'm shooting something. Those paper circles attached to the lights are homemade baffles. They block the light from shining through from the lampshades, and are extremely important since I couldn't find more appropriate lights that already had opaque black shades. The point is, you need to make sure that you can control the direction that light is being emitted from, as I will elaborate on in the next post.
>>6209684
- Emmett was in 'The Piece of Resistance' polybag and released in the CMF line
- Vitruvius was released as a promotional figure with the DVD release
- Unikitty is brick built, so counted as bricks instead of a figure (even though they label her as a figure)
- President Business was released in the CMF line
The only rare figure in that set was Benny up until he was released in the Lego Dimension's line-up a few months after this set was released.
>>6209693
In this picture, the red arrows are the hard, direct light that's going directly out of the lightbulbs. Thanks to the positions of the lights and the baffles, most of the direct light is aimed away from the table. It hits the walls, the ceiling, and all the other crap in the room and turns into a softer, more ambient light, represented here by all the yellow dicks aimed down at the table.
>>6209677
that does look nice.
Is the canopy printed or a sticker?
>>6209696
In this comparison you can see the difference between aiming a light source directly at the set (top) or using bounce light (bottom). With a direct light source, you get a lot more reflections off the surface of the pieces, and it looks more like a toy. Creating ambient light makes it seem more "real" and immersive.
>>6209699
This is especially noticeable on minifigs, when a direct light can cause vertical bands of white light across the face that blots out the printing.
Here's the same shot with and without direct light.
However, direct light can be used when you want to simulate the sun at a very low angle, as long as you have enough bounce light coming in from elsewhere.
Happy to take questions and I hope that helps!

>>6209553
Nice. Needs to be a set of "classic" heroes. like the Phantom, the Shadow, Mandrake the Magician etc...
>>6209716
>Light bounce seems to be causing issues with making the white's look yellow.
Yup, the bulbs I use are yellow light, and the walls of the room I shoot in are cream colored (plus the brown shades, wood fixtures, doors, etc) all contribute.
Luckily, the Auto-Tone and Auto-Color tools, or the Levels adjustment tool, can usually take care of the yellow tint.
In this case, I just used the Levels eyedropper for white and picked a spot on the left corner of the baseplate, and it autocorrected that spot as "white" and changed the color of the image to match (which meant that any surface that was that tint or lighter became white).
My camera has different lighting modes for different conditions (different bulb types like tungsten, different outdoor conditions, etc.). Those can also be used to cancel out the adverse effects of non-white bounce light.
>>6209697
printed, and sand blue. the little equipment vehicle in the set also comes with a printed control panel cheese slope.
>>6209729
Now since I'm not working with an original clean image and just re-using a compressed jpg file over and over, this doesn't look very nice, but the last image is a little too bright with the white areas on account of the slapdash use of the Levels tool to illustrate the last point about non-white bounce lighting.
The Shadows/Highlights tool (I don't know if there's a Gimp equivalent) can either bring out details in dark areas by lightening the shadows, or make white surfaces more defined by reducing the glare they're putting out.
This is a good way to make mocs with lots of black or white pieces "pop", because rather than being a clump of pieces without detail, suddenly you can see the contours of every surface.
One downside of this is that using it on dark areas can produce a lot of noise.

Something I recently found out that works really well for correcting yellow bounce lighting is to lower the exposure on your camera, and then use the Auto-Contrast to bring it back up in post.
In the top image, I shot with a regular exposure and used the Auto-Contrast and Auto-Tone. In the bottom image, I did the same tweaks, but it was shot with the exposure reduced by 50%. The initial image was darker, but Photoshop's Auto-Contrast brought it back up to the same brightness as the top image, but without the yellow bounce light, and with more definition across the white surfaces.

What exactly is Speed Champions doing to succeed?
Every sign points towards to it being a failure. Every single set has a plethora of new parts, exclusive recolors and gigantic sticker sheets. They also have to pay the licensing fee to like 5 different car manufactorers. The sets are also for the lack of a better word a bit boring. They're just cars, and cars hauling cars, with few playsets here and there.
And yet the theme is still going strong and is on its third year, a feat not that many non-story driven themes succeed in. What's the magic formula?

>>6209932
Playability I would guess, young kids can pick them up and push them around the ground for endless hours, put them into the mock garages, use the race sidelines to make their own tracks?
Parents can go buy a small car set instead of a plastic car of the same size? It's Lego so the kid can use those parts to make what they desire?
Lots of people love cars, that new GT40 is already on back order, I guess some people are picking it up as a ' collector ' piece to seeing as Lego is considered a good investment right now

I like to build in different sizes. I'll probably try to make some 8-wide trucks sometime.
Those cars should also fit inside a 6+ wide trailer, which will look nice when pulled by a 6 wide car.

>You got super mad for some reason.
>a guy gets triggered by toy skeletons
>using buzzwords
>says that other types of skeletons look dumb just because he gets triggered by them
Gee i wonder why i got mad.
>evil skellies >>>> pussy ass skellies
>>6210022
>I think a lot of the goody ninjago skeletons are pretty adorable with their stupid giant heads.
i think you better stick to Friends and Duplo m8.
Lego is way too "toxic masculinity" for you
>>6210039
I saved it as m'lego.jpg

forgot to clear name tab
>>6210041
>hating on Duplo
Whoa now, let's not say anything we can't take back.
"Mime"? That's her name? Just Mime? Guess she has electric powers to go with her highly mime-like 80's punkercise outfit and mohawk.
Oh well, another female character is cool, I guess.
>>6210024
This car mobile is cute! Can you do a breakdown of cutaways or something?
>>6210053
Fuck me forgot pic.
>>6210052
>duplo
>>6210041
>not liking classic skellies
pleb
>>6210053
I think she only had one major appearance but it's a absolute classic.
>>6210064
I think I like the minifig a lot more seeing her design here.
>>6210064
>major appearance
Thanks for posting the page, senpai!
I wonder if mai waifig March Harriet had the same amount of exposure.
>>6210064
>so committed to her schtick that she's running in place
>Batman still takes her out with a Baterang to the knee
I like this comic more every time I look at it.
>>6209932
Personally, I like the Speed Champions car size and pieces because they allow for bigger, more detailed cars that still work with minifigs. I do wish they'd turn down the stickers, but stuff like headlights and grilles can easily be replaced with parts.
>>6210078
that's a beast
especially like the front
>>6210053
I did a break down but I'll need to wait until next thread to post it since we hit image limit
>>6210112
>FOUR maxed-out Lego Generals on the board at once
Do you guys want me to make the next thread too
>>6210078
>I do wish they'd turn down the stickers
They're fucking ridiculous with the stickers.
on the other hand it's kinda hard to get model-specific details in Lego, I guess.

Not every licensed set is subject to "licensing tax" though. Detroit Steel Strikes is a licences Marvel Set with 3 licensed figs. It has 377 pieces. It should retail for 40-45 dollars but it goes for 30.
The Milano had 665 pieces and 5 figs but I remember it going for 48 dollars. It may have been 65 when it released and it's possible I bought it on clearance, i honestly don't recall.

Please do, this was a quick one
AND MAKE IT A GOOD CHALLENGE
>>6210055
>>6210053
She's a mime so her name is Mime. Her parents died in a tragic fireworks factory explosion (yeah) leaving her with their fortune but also a pathological hatred of loud noises. Then she bankrupted herself with some kind of liberal arts based business venture and decided to seek revenge on a glam metal band for being too loud. Then Batman punched her in the face.
That's pretty much it. It would have been better if she used fireworks, ironically, but she has some kind of shock gloves. Also if I recall correctly in the comic she uses a gun. With silencer!

KOTO
>>6210038
They added it for the Fourth Build Challenge
>>6210057
Why do Classic Skellies look so good in those helmets?
>>6210020
>Lego wasnt created for your specific personality
Autism Alert!!!
This is practically the same as saying that they don't make Lego sets just so you can take them apart, and make something totally different out of them.
>>6214668
>Autism Alert!!!
You couldn't tell by the fact that he's been sperging about people saying "Legos" for the past three threads?
Dude was also hating on Duplo and Friends.
>>6209868
This is literally the best firing gimmick they ever produced, at lest for Star Wars sets. Much more usefull as wel since the missiles can be used as lone laser blasts and the bricks can be used to fill out walls.
>>6209855
Homer from the Simpsons house has a tie with name tag as well.
>>6208667
I did this back before my dark age with two Imperial Dropship battlepacks c. 2009. I think it may have been my last original MOC ever.
>>6209902
At least it can be built into any wing or wall without massive disruption.
>>6208380
This is bait

Looks like bricktsar has finally lost it
