Since I've dug up a bunch of my old Lego I've been playing with them. I'm kinda worldbuilding at the moment and need some more sets to better flesh it out, but I've got a team of heroes and a pair of mysterious villains as well as various random rogues to populate the post-apocalyptbrick wasteland.

Today was a great day. Not one but two Craigslist finds from yesterday and late last evening.

First was (12) 1 gallon bags - About 30 pounds weighed. Star Wars sets, some city stuff, misc Minecraft, etc... Have not gone through it really but it was $100 from smoke and pet free home. Dad was selling his kids stuff for console games. Their loss! Some minifigs too.

Second was a huge steal! Almost 40 pounds weighed of everything from Star Wars, Minecraft, City, Dino,Ninjago, Chima, Hobbit,Creator Series, Sponge Bob, Heroica, Exoforce (With over 40+ instruction manuals) I know you can get them online but hey. Again, smoke and pet free home. This ministers wife was selling her kids toys that they don't play with any more. Some of this stuff is pretty new too. (Like a year or three old.)
Included must be at least 40 mini figs and 15 of the mini-mini figs. Sharks, and other animals as well. Trees, Flowers, etc.. Everything!

This lot went for $125!!

Worth the 3 hours round trip drive time!

I also received my Creator Set today from Shop@Home. (Detective's Office)

All in all a great day! 70 pounds for $225 between those two finds. :-) Just had to share! The stuff is out there. The second lot listed at around 9PM and I responded 2 hours after it had listed and was first.

So good/great deals are to be had!

What did you guys think of the Lego Batman Movie? I just saw it and thought it was fantastic.

The TLBM movie was very good! I liked it a lot. I just wish the Joker could have had his own musical number to match Batman's.

I will buy it when it comes out on DVD.
>>
>>6203318
>>6203319
I havent seen it yet, will wait for it to come out on torrents, but under one condition.....

Is it a musical?

Not really into that shit at all (which is funny because I LOVE Tommy, Hedwig and the Angry Inch, The Wall, hell, even the 2005 Producers, but other musicals just grate on me. I really dont know why, its just a thing with me.)
>>
>>6203329
It totally isn't, but Batman has a song like he does in The Lego Movie.

Also, I'd recommend seeing it in theaters if you can. It's a really beautiful looking movie.

K, one or two songs is cool.

I think its because I like a bit of the heavier and darker stuff (except the producers doesnt fit with that, maybe its just because Brooks has always been a fav of mine)

>>6203664
Someone some time ago posted an old LEGO catalog from est europe and the wirld "Klocki" that probably means "bricks" was featured a lot, that's where the meme started.
You can use it to referr to LEGo bricks, but more specifically "Klocki" are the bricks you need to complete your MOC but you don't have, hence the dread sometimes associated with the world.

There's an anon that does some really nice Klocki vignettes with a CMF sad clown

Yeah this why im thinking about going to bricklink and finally order bricks of different sizes fo a building in the size of yours.
But i think i might just wait for those announced lego houses and mod them later.

>>6203318
When i saw TLM i thought it was ok, mostly liked the builds. For this one i knew better what to expect but i don't really care for the batmans all that much, but i thought it was absolutely excellent. I just kinda zoned out after a while into this nice blur of just watching whatever was going, on occassionally having a giggle at whatever stupid joke or plot device, looking at the background for silly shenanigans, characters and cool builds. Don't watch it for amazing plot or sophisticated humour. it can be hit or miss. But there is so much shit going on it is difficult to get bored with it, especially if you're a lego fan. While i can understand people can feel bombarded at times I liked the density/rewatchability and
childlike hyperactivity of it. I always feel annoyed at overly contrived and choreagraphed cgi-fest actionscenes from the last decade, but here in shit was so outrageously cranked up to 11 that that it looped back around for me and i really enjoyed it. It really feels like some kid on a sugar rush that grabs his builds and violently swooshes it arounds while mouthing pewpews and explosions running through the house. I saw it with some family members who didn't really liked the sappy storyline but i had no problem with.

I ordered some maxifig hands; Bricklink says that the hexagon-hole version on the right was introduced in the late 1970s to allow maxifigs to hold minifig utensils.

Does this mean the hole on the left isn't the same diameter as a standard lightsaber bar?

The hole on the left can hold utensils and the like but they will be held very tightly. Too tightly for my taste. You will have severe resistance pushing the piece all the way through. In my experience.

I tried it with the old one (without the hexagon shape)
It's possible, but rather tight compared to inserting it into the hollow stud of a headlightbrick or technic pin for example.

>>6204585
Look up the name and number anon gave you on aliexpress; they're basically the same as Legoes, all the parts fit well enough.
>>
>>6204572

Yeah. It's a mix of things, honestly.

I mean, until recently I really didn't have much room to begin with, since I had roommates and I was cramped into a little bedroom with not much space.

Plus, I collected a bunch of other stuff at the time, so funds were spread pretty thin between several things, I find myself needing to cut the fat sometimes. I basically collect almost nothing anymore, so I now have more space, more money, and few other competing interests.

Also, I have a tendency to really only like the big sets, like the modulars, and the big buildings and pirate ships and shit. I find that often times, if I buy sets at a normal retail store, I just build them, then box them afterward. Sub $40 sets I usually didn't even build. Just dumped into a box and put the minifigs with my other bigger displays..
>>
Disaster paste.
>>
>>6204593
Did you use those "dumped in a box" pieces from sub $40 sets to build mocs or did they go completely unused?
If so,i might suggest bricklink to just bricklink to get the specific minifigures you want to add to your bigger set displays.

Personally i get the most joy out building and improving my own sets or heavily modifying existing sets from time to time. I can understand selling off your collection if it is solely used for one time by-the-book builds and for decoration or novelty.

ahhhh fuck yes i found my red tires
>>
>>6204605

I'd MOC some of my own modulars, and larger builds sure, but I think my biggest mistake was not really actually just using things like BL and eBay to get things I wanted.

I'd sometimes see a set and thing "Hm. This set has like a dozen pieces I can use in the thing I'm building, and also that one torso looks pretty cool." So, I'd buy like a 250 piece set for a handful of pieces which just ultimately felt like a waste.

I guess part of my thing I just like building big, whether that official sets, or just something of my own. Its just that I went about such inefficient ways of getting parts before.
>>
>>6204616
I felt the same way. I got back into lego to make architectural shit but somewhere down the line I was just buying sets for the pleasure of just buying shit
Now all I do is buy parts and pick a brick wall and maybe buy a larger set or if the set is really cool (that goddamn hot dog van). I spend less and I'm way more into the hobby of it
>>

Opinions on these modulars for poor people? I bought 31036 when I came out of my dark ages and 31026 on clearance a few months ago. Considering buying 31050 and/or 31065 to make a city street on my shelf, but I don't know if I should wait until I see a decent discount or not.

Picrelated one is the best. Its compact and can actually be used as customizable place.
Other smaller ones dont have enough space inside to put minifigs and needed objects to create your own room/etc.
I wanted corner Deli but...dude just look at it:
there is no place to put even one minifig on the second floor except making it sit on a chair.

I actually prefer small modulars than expensive ones. It kind of better to just be able to open buildings like a dollhouse so you will see everything from better angle.
With big modulars you can only remove roof/other levels and look at everything from above

Need a few parts for Bird Girl (wish to FUCK brick warriors or whomever would get the gray wings back in, and wish someone made mechanical wings that were folded in instead of out and open....), might make peanut after that, but Space Ghost might be a lot harder.

Also RIP Space Ghost.....his VA dying was one of the ones that kind of slipped under the radar last year, sadly. I grew up watching his shit, I remember when it premiered on fucking Sci Fi. I remember watching classic Ghost and Birdman on cartoon network (think it was called cartoon-cartoon back then? memories a little hazy.)

Ya. I remember having a long playing VHS tape of Space Ghost and my friends and I watched the shit out of it - mebbie the first 3 seasons? All one of us had to do was say "click click clik" and it was over. not as powerful as Python but close. My girlfriend has a weird crush on Zorak.

Recipe:

Wings from (I think) either brick warriors or brick arms, I had to order them from Firestar toys and settle with glow in the dark because they didnt have white or gray in stock.

Face can be any of the generic fleshies.

Wolverines helmet.

Generic business suit. Simple search of suit on BL can yield a few different options.

Also, dude, keep yer girl in check, Zoraks a playa PLAYA for real. He doesnt give a fuck and that makes the bitches wet.

And I forgot, speaking of Colbert, a Phil Ken Sebben figure would be VERY doable.

Added to the list!

And yet a company like Citizen Brick, or Firestar Toys, or even china (just look up the emotional faces sets on ALI) can print infinitely more faces showing many different emotions from retarded ass meme faces, to orgasm faces that can also be used as singers or screamers, to faces that have piercings, tattoos and even duct tape/ball gags on/in them.

Lego is afraid to take a couple risks. Im not saying print titcow torsos, but print a female face biting her lip (ala the WyldStyle pic that gets posted every once in a while.) or a prisoner face with some tape on the mouth.

My local friendly official Lego store offers brick engraving for like $5. Obviously it isn't the end all of getting anything on a brick, but it's fun. They have a few colors for the ink and bricks and a few small designs that they can put on a brick. The reason for my post is to find out what Lego General thinks of engraving. Is it heresy or should engraved bricks be permitted in a purist build?

I like her, though I don't follow Ninjago. I think she was only ever in one set since the show pretty much sidelined her. From what I've heard (and I could be wrong) she wound up having her hard drive ripped out and eventually uploaded her brain into her robot boyfriend's body. I guess that's one way of being with your waifu forever. Still she's cheap enough as an individual fig from the usual sellers.

Likewise
Now I have enough pieces to build just about anything. Unless I require specialized pieces (Bricklink or Ebay) I mostly build buildings or try to recreate something I've seen and then MOD it. I bought bulk Lego off Ebay almost 20 years ago when it was still a good deal. Occasionally I'd score at yard sales etc.

Recently I've turned to Craigslist. I bought to collections totaling almost 80 Pounds the other day. I've spent the week happily sorting. Almost 5 Pounds of it were non Lego including a really nice real gold ring. So yea, I get rocks, change, non-Lego stuff mixed in. But a GOLD RING??? Score! Sold at a pawn shop for $150 today. :-)

And this was from a guy that swore 100% of his stuff was Lego. His stuff he sold by weight. It had some small rocks and a matchbox car in it.

Serves him right. I ended up making money on his deal. :-)

What's the strangest thing anyone has got when buying random Lego collections??

If you store them in the same bag as a leaky battery and then bung them in the trunk of your car, you will get melted/dissolved bricks.

That's my theory.

Feel free to not test it.
>>
>>6206100

okay. So yo painted them?
I picked up a couple.

They aren't painted. The set that minifigure comes with (lunar limo from space police III) is a space stretch limousine, it has an unprinted pearl gold hood ornament on the front of it using that exact same mould.

I used employee discount. Got it for ~$35.

It's semi-modular, so it'll be worth expanding on in the future. The first actual bunker we've had since that Endor set, plus it doubles as a landing pad.

Sad thing is, when I mentioned the heads I mentioned and the slave leia thing, it wasnt even about sex, I was just using the first major "risque" examples that came off the top of my head.

In the same vein a head covered in army camo, or a ski mask. Just some more varied prints that the third parties out there have no qualms with releasing.
