TLNM?

Is that really short for Duh Lego Ninjago Movie?

When did we start putting Duh and Movie on movie titles?

We didn't have TLotRM or TRotJM.

And why put Duh at the beginning anyway?

In the shop tab you should have a few links at the top of the page. One is wanted list. It should just show things they have that you want. I'm not sure if it shows up if they don't have stuff you want.

I already got a guy to buy me a bunch from California for 99cents each. I also grabbed up several when my Walmart was discounting them. I have 7 I still haven't opened. I got them all for $3-$5 around October I think. I don't like that they don't include any instructions. Other than that, they are solid parts kits. A minifig, a handful of random parts, and 2 NFC tags is a great deal for five bucks. I was also the guy posting about NFC stuff a few threads ago.

My issue is that it tries to do both but fails. Either go full playability or a full display piece. A 200 dollar set SHOULD go for the latter.

But now we have this messy lower hull with tons of technic exposed, or the messy deck with widely changing scale (first you notice those windows as doors then you realize that the wheel is minifig-sized)

Itll be hilarious when the movie comes out and there actually IS a bottom to the boat but its transparent. If that were true and TLG had a chance to make trans boat pieces but it would have made this a $400 set, I have a feeling quite a few people (hell, myself included) wouldnt have minded paying the extra.

This is TFA concept art set mistakes all over again.

Yeah i was mindblown about how slowpoke i am.
Its just... back in early 00s i was in college. I thought "toys are for kids now. Im stepping into an adult life/should care about job/career".
I was seeing advertisement/huge posters back then but never was brave enough to just go to toy store and buy some bionicles.

Basically describes most of the Barraki. Interesting designs, but often their execution wasn't great.
>>
>>6199553
>Why are Star Wars fans so autistic?
Star Wars was a set of some B-movie flicks made in the 70's and 80's. Anyone who still cares about something like that has to have weapongrade level autism, and when it's so popular, that amplifies the autism into cancer.
>>

Eh, i like him so much. My main reason of liking barraki was because they are different than other bionicle stuff. They look weird and always stand like they some crippled hunchbacks.
Also i love hero factory - they have some unhuman-like creatures too
Love picrelated shark. But i noticed that most of bionicle community is an opposite of that - they prefer more human-like "warrior type" bodies and dislike "odd looking" creatures.

i agree. i never got any of those. But non human things were reminding of those weird toys from 90s. Street Sharks, Extreme Dinosaurs, TMNT-line.

Even the last line of Bionicle was basically a Skeleton Warrior made into Lego.

I really wish we'd have gotten more than the first wave here in the US. I really wanted this guy. They probably flooded too many different products at once, with the regular characters, speedor sets, and these to collect, and the theme itself had quite a lot of sets in just the first year. That was most likely why they cancelled it. It wasn't a bad theme by any stretch, they just lost money because they went TOO big and never made that money back.

I only watched the pilot of the show, but they even worked these CCBS figures into it as a "super form" when they activated their chi.
>>
>>6199623
>>6199615
Oh i didnt mean Chima.
I meant there is no general "ball/socket - joints" figures line other than StarWars.
Or...may be SW was the reason? Like its not profitable to make 2 huge lines of these things at one moment?

I agree about too many different products. I knew about better chima sets only because i lurked deeper. Most of people seen those stupid speedorz everywhere and some average stuff.

Sorry I don't normally post but I just had to vent. I was at Target today checking to see if they have any Mixels left (fucking Lego jews canceling Mixels) and I heard these two little kids talking about the Ninjago sets, I went over to them to tell them not to waste their time with that kiddie shit but right before I said anything one of them says "I must have butt dialed you" and they both started laughing like it was the funniest fucking thing in the world

>>
>>6199683
Because LEGO wants to cash in on the licensed stuff. The popularity of the movies and advertising gives them maximum exposure. Back when LEGO was just a brick company making lines of their own (for example City or Space) it gave kids imagination to make up their own stories. Now it's all about the franchise and licensed material. And that is where the $$$ comes in. They just have to pass it on to the consumers.

What makes it worse in my opinion is that the secondary market which used to be a way for people to pick up sets they missed out on has made it near impossible for anyone to spend 5 times what the set originally cost just to open and build it.

And this is how the Chinese market has made their money. It's not about making a cheaper product. It's about making something most people can afford.
>>
>>6199679
>WHAT IF we living at the start of another bad lego years? just like those early 00s.
Lego is been running quite well so far. Compare the sets today even to the late 2000 sets and they're much better.
We might hit a decline, but the signs aren't there yet.
>>
>>6199697
>why don't people like the MANLY lego themes
>>
>>6199679
We are actually getting a good variety though. I think you Lego exclusive fans are a bit blind to how bad things can really be. Too much licensed stuff? Well guess what, you have just as much non-licensed stuff in the aisle too. There is a TON of awesome sets if you are not looking for Minifig compatibility, with multiple neat official builds.

I admit I want some buildings and bases like I had as a kid, and not just a wall or something, but at the same time I do not get the hatred towards vehicles.
>>
>>6199710
>but at the same time I do not get the hatred towards vehicles.
I think it's become some themes seem to be solely composed of vehicles.
For example nexo knights is quite a cool theme, but they aren't doing anything too interesting about it. Futuristic knights could have tons of cool shit, but we're mostly getting vehicles that are similar to Chima and ninjago.
>>
>>6199697
It's not gay dude
Fabuland is important LEGO history, it changed how the company operates

And Paradisa is kind of cool if you look past the fact that it is intended for girls. The sets are so classic
>>
>>6199710
I think most of the hatred towards vehicles comes from the fact that they can get very same-y. An ATV is an ATV, a police car is a police car, a helicopter is a helicopter, and a Nexo bullshit motorcycle is going to be a Nexo bullshit motorcycle. Nobody (afaik) complains about Speed Champions vehicles all being the same, because nobody who hates vehicles will like it in the first place.

I miss Adventurers. They had a lot of vehicles, but most of them were afterthoughts to the main builds. And even then, they at least had a unique 1930s-esque aesthetic.

Most of us are around late 20s-early 30s.
During 00s we were in college. It was the dark days for most of us because we didnt had money or had some teenage-first college year interests so we obviously never got any of those Galidor/crappy Castle/Jack Stone sets.

Im 32 and i got back to lego only in 2013.

I think one of the problems LEGO faces today when creating playsets, is that the detail in sets generally has increased.
Pic related was a great set and had tons of playability. But if it was a set we got today, we would say it lacks detail. More detail means a higher price and thus the set is less likely to sell well.
Of course this trend should also affect vehicles, but for some reason I think it's not quite as bad.

LEGO's decision to make biigger pieces was definitely stupid, but I think they have to be careful not to go too small

I saw Jang at the lego store yesterday. I told him how cool it was to meet him in person, but I didn’t want to be a douche and bother him and ask him for photos or anything.

He said, “Oh, like you’re doing now?”

I was taken aback, and all I could say was “Huh?” but he kept cutting me off and going “huh? huh? huh?” and closing his hand shut in front of my face. I walked away and continued with my shopping, and I heard him chuckle as I walked off. When I came to pay for my stuff up front I saw him trying to walk out the doors with like fifteen Assembly Squares in his hands without paying.

The girl at the counter was very nice about it and professional, and was like “Sir, you need to pay for those first.” At first he kept pretending to be tired and not hear her, but eventually turned back around and brought them to the counter.

When she took one of the sets and started scanning it multiple times, he stopped her and told her to scan them each individually “to prevent any electrical infetterence,” and then turned around and winked at me. I don’t even think that’s a word. After she scanned each set and put them in a bag and started to say the price, he kept interrupting her by yawning really loudly.

>Silent Mary has VIP release the day AFTER 2x VIP points ends
>>
I was in a local healthy/expensive type supermarket here in Grand Rapids, Michigan (we have a lot of those) and I'm in line to buy some ham at the deli there. The lady asked me what kind, and I said "I have no fucking idea what different kinds of ham there are, lady" ENTIRELY too loudly and the guy behind me in line I hadn't noticed burst the hell up laughing.

I turn around. Just2good.

He kinda half leans around me and says "Honey glazed!" to the lady over the counter and I just kinda stare at him for a sec then smile and say thanks. I'm about to pay for it and he says "No way this one's on me" and pays the check for it right there. I was astounded, it was so awesome that I did the only thing I could think of ... The Three Amigos salute. Once again he cracks up and asked me if I had any idea how long it had been since someone did that. I said "a year?" he said "try ten."

We ended up having coffee at a place across the street. Turns out he bought a house in Monticeto, a really expensive residential area in SB, and has been living there a while. We talked about everything that wasn't his career for about 45 minutes before he had to take off because his deli stuff was gonna go bad. I shook his hand and said he made my year today. He smiled and beat my head in with a tire iron. I looked up from the floor, my eyes covered in my own blood as I made out a blurry image of an anvil being hoisted above his head. Through the ringing in my ears I couldn't hear his probably witty fabuland review before the anvil came crashing down, ending my life.

Checking in on the LEGO site...

There used to be a way of buying bags of windows and doors or trees or even 100 square flat smooth tiles in white or black. Has this been all replaced with the "pick a brick" It seems expensive to do it that way now.

Does anyone have any input on this. Would it be just cheaper to buy via bricklink?

Also on the pick a brick... How long does it take for someone to actually pick your order and ship it?

Also, might it be easier to just visit an actual LEGO store and fill one of those bags with special pieces for one flat price.

What's everyone's method for bulk buying pieces these days???
>>
>>6199982

I've been to a LEGO store once and vaguely remember that wall. There's none near me. :-( Closest is I think 2+ hours drive. So yea it sounds like it would be a crap shoot to see what they have.

Am I remembering things wrong though? Didn't LEGO offer bulk packs of things already like certain bricks etc? Windows, trees, plates... This would have been a good 15+ years ago.

I used to get catalogs from them and I thought they were even listed in there. I'll have to go dig for them. (Now I'm wondering if old catalogs are worth anything...)

Pick a Brick order on the 8th and shipping from Poland?? I'm in the states. Don't they make the stuff in the states anymore??

Clash of the Titans is a cult classic. Everybody knows that movie and there is even a meme called "RELEASE THE KRAKEN" - even some normies use it when they go to take a dump in toilet or shoot cum strings when they end their jerk off session. It's _that_ popular.

And besides Clash of the Titans had TWO movies that started with a reemake back in 2010. Which brought that movie for normies to know.

So this makes me think that everybody who thought that a obvious fucking FISH-MAN looking thing from Batman movie was a Godzilla, should be decapitated, brought back to life, pissed on, and forced to watch Ghostbusters reboot backwards with justin bieber songs at the background.

You wanna know how I know youre the type of person who sees "in game footage" and thinks its real?

Bullshots arent just a video game thing man. Hell, look at all the trailers for suicide squad and rogue one and tell me how many scenes were either changed or cut out completely. They dont always show a finished or sometimes even real product.

Making fun of putting "The" and "Movie" as parts of the acronym for movies.

On the face of it, it is pretty retarded.

It only made sense for TLM because without those it would just be "Lego".
>>
>>6199948
I'm pretty sure "Ok." and some variant of "cool story bro" are standard "we both know this is a copypasta" responses.
>>
>>6200499
Wouldn't it be way MORE redundant effort to render the ship with a broken bottom, then change it to transparent? Movie trailer bullshots are usually because the movie isn't done yet (see: the invisible pterodactyls in Jurassic World).

They're just heavy enough to topple over if you hit them from the front, since they sit on the back of the 4x6 plate, but not really that heavy quite frankly.

On another topic, here's what I'm working on, I think some of you may reckognize it. It's not finished at all and I hope to get it done before the end of march, since I'll try to bring it to an exhibit and show it off with my other builds.

>>
>>6200507
I get that, but first, what's with the "duh"? Second, obviously TLNM and TLBM have the same problem. Otherwise, they're just "Ninjago", which is already a pretty big thing, and "Batman", which is already a REALLY big thing.
>>
>>6200518
Hey, it was really just a hypothetical that I posted. And you want to talk stupid, last I had heard there is almost an hour of footage of Jared Letos joker that we will never see because WB and DC are fucking morons and scammed the viewing audience into thinking The Joker would be a big part of Suicide Squad. Its so bad that Leto himself was extremely pissed over it and will probably not be returning as the joker no matter what.

Like I said, ive seen the trailers and renders of the ship, I just thought "wouldnt it be funny IF....."

And like I also said, it wouldnt be the first time lego got handed concept art and told "oh yeah, heres the product" (IE: Kylos ship)
>>
>>6200494
Sorry, but these two brickheads (along with a number of others) were comic con exclusives. They are definitely not worth the price you'd have to pay. The ones you get regularly are great parts packs though
>>
>>6200522
"Lego Batman" would work just fine. Some people just don't like two-letter acronyms, which I totally get.

TLNM should just be TNM, because "Lego Ninjago" is redundant.

My GF just pointed out, though, that if TLM was the first, then TLBM and TLNM are just following the naming precedent established by The Lego Movie.

And I can't really argue with that.

The "Duh" is making fun of "The", just because I think it's really stupid to have "The" as the beginning of an acronym in almost all cases.

It's like that Far Side cartoon that had an index at the back with nothing under any letter except T, because all the entries started with "The one about..."
>>
>>6200528
To be fair towards Suicide Squad, the advertising was before the rewrites and Leto's Joker sucked anyway.

There's this, but there are some third-party torsos that look more natural, and I think Lego is either going to release one soon for TLNM™ or they already did.

you can find everything on wikipedia. the DC Jhonny thunder first appeared in a magazine in 1940 so it's obviously older than the LEGO counterpart.

they are both set at the start of the 20'th century, though.
>>
>>6201701
Is this even possible?
If yes then im requesting this too!
>>
>>6201705
No I mean, how are they connected? I know the DC version is much older. Did LEGO take it as just an inspiration or was it something else like licensing
>>6201707
Google it or look it up on JANGbricks.com
You need hydrogen peroxide and sunlight
>>
And I'm wondering about the opposite. Is there a way to quickly yellow pieces? Other than leaving them in direct sunlight for a couple years.
>>
>>6201712
Ooooh sorry.

I just read DC's character story and it seems pretty different. I know they also look similar but I think it's just a concidende.

>Something about fire resistance is why it goes yellow.

You're both on the right track. The reason why white and gray plastics start to discolor after a few years is because of the bromine that's added to the plastic to make it flame-retardant (I think recent research has shown that it actually doesn't do anything besides raise your risk of cancer, but that's neither here nor there). As the bromine breaks down, it turns brown, which is why the plastic starts to look discolored. Using the hydrogen peroxide + sunlight treatment "resets" the bromine on the surface of the piece back into its original state. If you treated a white brick and made it new-looking, but cut it in half, the inside would still be yellowed, since the treatment can only physically interact with the surface. This is why it doesn't work very well for transparent plastic, because the material under the surface stays discolored.

After a few years the recharged bromine will start to break down again and the piece will start to discolor again, so you'll have to do the treatment over.

I wouldnt really call Brickarms weapons bootleg, as they aim to enhance a part of lego in a territory TLG is rather hesitant to step into.

If lego won't do it, surely a vendor that specializes in it using the same ABS plastic is the next best thing, dont you think?

Dont bootleg normally aim to compete and/or steal revenue from lego rather than supporting it?

Licensefags tend to get upset whenever the newest version of a character doesn't have "better" printing than the last version.

Surely you jest. The rest of the list is accurate though.
>>
>>6202065
I'm mainly complaining about the fans of said themes. I actually really, really like castle.
The thing is though, most castle fans I've met just want the same shit over and over. Anything a little different and they don't like it. Classic style castle can only go so far until it gets boring.
>>
>>6202065
I miss old Castle. Even the newer one from however many years ago. Nexo Knights are cool and all, but I want some more old school classic knights.
>>
>>6202072
So you complain about classic castle fans because they want classic castle but somehow you placed spacefags in god tier even though they also want classic space.
>>
>>6202136
Space fans are fine with things being different, only thing they seem to whine about is Star Wars taking the spotlight away from space..
Castle fans just want their classic sets to be repeated and repeated. I've seen plenty of people write off amazing themes like fantasy era because it wasn't like classic castle.
Kind of ties in to how they are always going on about how they want black falcon reboots.
>>
>>6202150
That's bullshit.
First of all people who complain about fantasy era don't complain about "not classic" but about heavy fantasy elements.
>always going on about how they want black falcon reboots
Nobody wants rehashes of old BF sets. Just that everytime LEGO makes new castle it starts with Lions vs Dragons in different colors.
>>
>>6202173
>First of all people who complain about fantasy era don't complain about "not classic" but about heavy fantasy elements.
Exactly. They complain because it isn't more realistic like classic castle.
>Nobody wants rehashes of old BF sets. Just that everytime LEGO makes new castle it starts with Lions vs Dragons in different colors.
How is going back to black falcons any better? Both are rehashes.
Castlefags don't want new shit most of the time, they just want the same shit they got back in the 80's.

Like I said it's bullshit. Rehashing factions is different from rehashing sets.

Every fanbase does this. Spacefags always complain about shit like "no Ice Planet in 20XX".

I've heard plenty complain about it.
The complaints about nexo knights and knights kingdom are even worse
>Like I said it's bullshit. Rehashing factions is different from rehashing sets.
Never said they wanted rehashed sets. Rehashing factions is mostly still boring. If they want different stuff to lions, why don't they ask for weirder animal heraldry rather than just what they got before?
Only one I see spacefags wanting is blacktron III, and even then they don't harp on about it.

Nexo Knights is not a Castle theme. It's an action theme like Ninjago. You don't count Chima as Fabuland line.

Nobody complains about KK, they complain about KK II. For a good reason, I've bought some KK II sets after coming out from my dark time and they suck compared to Fantasy Era that was already out.

I remember that one.
Great episode.

"butthurt"

I laughed so hard when I first saw that term, mostly because it fit the situation and the attitude of the target so, so well.

Even if it were directed at me, I'd still chuckle just because it's a little less common now and I keep forgetting it exists among all the "fag" and "autism".

One thing I should point out - the two 2x4 plates can be swapped out for a single 4x4 plate. I only used 2x4s because at the time I made it I didn't have any white 4x4s.

Thanks anon, glad you like it!

I guess I get that, but it seems like shitposting in a Lego general thread.

It doesn't even mention people who like third-party or Chinese stuff, which is hard to imagine. I guess that would be in a special Explosive Elephant Diahrea Burrito Tier.
>>
>>6201988
so what tier's space pirates then?
>>
>>6202442
MOC tier is below dogshit tier. LEGO elements are designed to be used in official LEGO sets developed by professional set designers, not whatever multicolored eyesore your parents tell you looks "amazing".

>>6202440
Silly anon, there's no shitposting in the Lego General.

i think i should delete my bricklink account or at least log off and clean cookies.
I keep making tiny orders of all kinds of stuff with random shit that i think will help me to build cool minifigure or just MAYBE be useful someday.
>i want space Samurai pirate!
>to the Bricklink!
>oh he needs some enemies!
>hmm...lets see...lets get this Atlantis Shark headpiece!
>also this repair tool - for his spaceship!
>s-stop...please

its fine, gives it more of a bulky look. Just got to order what I need, I cleared out all of my old bricks to start fresh, and I have 0 white ones left.

What I've started doing is keeping my main Want List of random non-specific pieces, and then making other want lists with just the stuff I want for specific projects.

Then I check to see which stores have the most stuff on my specific Want List, find the one with the best selection, and then check that store against my main Want List.

Has anyone else posted this yet? I don't know the source, I just found it on another forum. There's also supposed to be a re-release of the UCS falcon?

>There's also supposed to be a re-release of the UCS falcon?
>Yes, that's right lego fan! You too can own 5200 light bley bricks that make up a model that's too big to do anything with, other than sit around and colect dust.
The UCS Falcon is probably the most ugly and overrated set of all time.

I don't play with my sets anyway so...

I'm interested because I like Star Wars and I like the ship designs. I'm not buying it for playability I'm buying it to display.

I could just get a glass coffee table and put it underneath it's not in the way, but it's still visible.
>>
>>6202448
It's pretty sad really. I placed two orders for 30 and 40 GBP this week and I thought I'm done with buying any Lego till the end of the month.

What gets me is browsing the shop after I add the "wanted" items. It just grows from the initial 10-15 GBP to 30+.

It really is like crack.

m-may be...
but i noticed my interests pretty much match to most of anons who active here

Picrelated is my VERY LAST (i promised myself) order - what made me to do it, i was just drinking mil and SUDDENLY thought how awesome it could be if i had milk and juice Decorated Bricks so my minifigs could drink milk too!
And then to add some other parts i noticed this smiley face-brick.
I think its called "Wojis" or "Wojus"...something like that and its been some sort of meme for some time.
Im totally gonna use this face to build some robot!
>>6202575
Yeah...i can understand it now.
All these orders i made are very cheap and contain small items and minifigs.
But i did many of those...and there is a shipping cost.
So...in general i spend some awful lot...

There are supposedly two small villain vehicles, that's probably the only thing which might be decent, especially if they're just basic UFOs like these from one of the promos.
