Quick question: How long does it take to one figure get a Second version or even Third? It depends on popularity, I guess? What other color scheme would you guys prefer on Gyro?

As Gyro is a (kind of) protagonist, he's almost guaranteed a WonFes exclusive down the road, so you'll get your second color through that.

Normally there would be a high chance at retail too, but Medicos have been super slack with releases recently. We get a handful of new releases a year, and an onslaught of re-releases these days. You're lucky if you see one new figure, let alone a repaint.

Turns out it's really easy for me to predict my own choices. I picked this guy because his listings all said "made in the USA". I don't think any of the ones I have would comfortably sit a Jojo, his stage, and a wacky wide-legged pose, so if you're interested you might want to get something pretty wide.

Baoh is a pretty awesome figure. Articulation-wise he's very decent. Torso is well designed allowing for good range of moment. Paint is top notch without any glaring QC risks.

With only 1000 at the venue he still took a while to sell out. Maybe it's just as well he wasn't retail.

I kind of hope the holsters for the steel balls aren't just one piece and can actually flip open in some way but it seems to be a solid plastic piece. Other than that everything seems pretty solid though the thigh pieces that dictate the forward and back range of movement for the legs seems questionable once you put them up higher to the crotch piece and makes me wonder how well Gyro will sit on stuff like the Figma or Revo horses.

I'm mostly measuring my expectations with that idea since Medico's track record is just plain odd. One moment they favor small accessories to essentials that are often with that associated character to surprises like Anasui's Diver Down fists and legs as full blown effect parts.

Pic related is how I feel. Either basic and expected or a surprise even though its just extra parts for another figure. After Gyro being paired with those saddles just to replicate one artpage makes me want to settle on the "wildcard" of accessories.

Honestly even as a non RWBY fan you have to admit Medicos is putting out quite a bit in the next year. Currently we have 6 figures in prototype/pre production in 5 figures getting ready for mass production. Has medicos ever been this industrious? I'm more upset about the time they waste with exclusives like Baoh which should've had a small but mass run. Lets hope the Jojo hype makes medicos go back to focusing on JJBA with more frequent releases. Let's also hope they choose better fucking characters. Honestly it was a fairly good move on Medicos' part, at retail he just wouldn't have sold well and WF proves it.

I was worried about being able to get mine since there were only 1000 available, but even after the line subsided and you could just walk up to the booth counter and buy shit, he and Pucci were still available.

I usually get to the booth around the same time. You can tell how many have been sold by the number on your lotto ticket for the crystal SAS. Normally by the time I get to the front it's hitting over 900 sold, but this time it was barely over 300 by the time I got to the front.

It's okay but Gio's pose needs improvement. The hand placement should look like he's really grabbing those parts of his shirt. I just got Hermes and Kiss today. Kiss' back leg, like a lot of people have mentioned, is weird as hell, but it works. The candy gloss paint looks nice, and Kiss has some great hands. Both Hermes and Kiss have some fantastic articulation, especially Hermes' legs. Much like Stone Free and Jolyne, it's really easy to move them around, cross-cross, etc. Those skinny arms of Hermes makes me a little nervous handling them.

She has a goofy as hell yelling head, just like Mista, but it hit me that maybe the yelling heads for them aren't really best for angry stand rush poses, but flustered conversations instead.

He's bloody fantastic. Amazing accessory variety (multiple guns sculpts for different poses or him posing with it in his pants), great shading and paint, and really nice articulation. One of the best figures, really. My only problem is his yelling head doesn't like to fit into his peg without a little extra force, he's near flawless otherwise.

Anywhere to pickup extra display stands and stuff of that nature? Would it be on Mandy?

SAS are like any other Japanese figures and if you missed out on the initial and reissue releases then you missed out. At that point you need to resort to Mandarake, Jungle, and other 2nd hand sites for them since collectors usually resell their old stuff in those stores.

US sites will scalp you silly for SAS's so stalk Mandarake and other sites and hope it has what you want in stock. I wouldn't worry about any damage either since that stuff is mostly 2nd hand from other collectors unless the storefront indicates that otherwise.

Price-wise I would scale it down to 2.5yen your cheapest to 10yen+ for rarer and higher in demand SAS's. Learn which figure's average price point is and work off that. Use Mandarake's "sold out" option to check around older listings.

On top of that use Figinstock on those listings to send an email reminder if they do restock.

U.S sites? Hell nah. Dont even bother looking at Amazon, Ebay, BBTS, etc. They're either a)out of stock or b) overpriced. Your options are Mandarake (limited supply but decent selection for decent prices), Jungle (same as Mandy), Amiami (they can either be super affordable if they're pre owned or decently priced if new), or HLJ (decent prices, have a good amount of figures in stock). HLJ and Amiami have the best prices of the four I've seen, but my go to has been Yahoo Auction Japan. You need to use a proxy service about 90% of the figures are pre owned, but they're dirt cheap even with commision and shipping fees.

Trish has bad articulation but is overall decent. She looks good and can a lot of poses, albeit, not very complex ones.
The one figure I have that has truly dissapointed me is Act 3. It's has Trish's weak articulation but is even more limited due to the sculpt. Doesn't help mine has some ugly QC issues too.

Japanese currency anon. 10k or 10k yen etc....

Buying from overseas is super easy. Just make an account on your preferred site and input all the necessary info. Do a currency conversion on google to see what the item costs JPY-USD to get an idea. Shipping is easy too, pick RSAL to have cheap but slow or EMS/DHL for fast and expensive with good insurance coverage. Each site may have rules so read carefully so you don't end up bitching about being banned. Also just read the Buyfag guide for more relevant info on starting off and details tips on what you may need in the future. Everything you need is there.

Also resize and crop your shot to avoid sideways uploads. Don't directly upload them after shooting, edit then upload.

Also when is /toy/ ever getting a sticky? With the larger expansion of lines and users I'd imagine this could save a lot of time for people. Not jabbing on you of course.

My DIO looks pretty nice (again though I'm new to this line and have no clue what constitutes high quality (especially after I heard the part 3 quality was meh)). The only gripe I have is that one of the faces looks a little too similar to the default if it's not just an accidental copy of that head piece. The articulation and everything seems pretty awesome much better than the play Arts and marvel legends figures I have.

And yeah, popular characters have been hiking in price but also understand SAS work a little differently than some other lines and that they really take advantage of recolors with some editions and variants having special accessories and sculpts locked to them for either other characters and whatnot. Josuke in pic has this smiling head locked behind WF (Wonfest) Crazy Diamond.

The OP is a little outdated but it provides the special soundplates with various quotes from the manga to use on certain releases if you want that.

At best you can hope for DiMoltoBene to pump out a SL that scales close to him but no news as of yet.

The SO line is hurt by color choices and certain accessory choices as well. Weather Report without his stand was really the biggest twist out of this line since Medicos is at least consistent with users and stands. I guess the clouds count but Weather Report's stand is such a simple and good design that it would seem like an easy choice.

Pucci is fine and Medicos had to work out a way to deal with the robes so it's a matter of playing with certain angles to hide the gaps when you open them up from the hinges. It was just a little weird they did his post-green baby head but never release the other forms of his stand to compliment.

I know at first buying from overseas can seem complicated, but it's no different than buying from your local amazon. The only difference is that you will usually confirm the purchase and recieve a payment invoice a couple of days later rather than paying up instantly, and you're gonna end up saving a lot of money. Honestly i have incredibly low standards for SAS, my entire collection is just seceond hand ones. I bought a part 3 polnareff for 1600 yen and the box had a smell (Cigarette smoke?) that almost made me throw up, and i still have no regrets cause i saved money.

Although the line is sort of perplexing, i cant tell if it means missing parts AND loose joints, or missing parts OR loose joints. Loose joints i can handle and the CDs don't really matter to me. I did get this for 3500 after all, only missing hands could disappoint me for that price.

I did take a chance to see how responsive they are with an auction ending a few hours away and they responded with a confirmation bid on it with time to spare. Then only catch was paying an initial one-time fee for being a first time user which was half the cost of the item I was bidding on and if they didn't get it then they refund fast. Also they have a nice warehouse function in case I want to bundle items into a mass order.

Commission costs vary on the value, the highest I paid was $13 for a 9k order so far but since I rarely use YAJ I can't test other proxies to test the best value per auction win. At the very least they respond in a timely manner and get my bid in.

Realistically I just see Medicos being cheap and going with a recolor down the line but at the same time I hope they realized how pushed out Josuke was for the anniversary and Jojolion's releases that they would redo his face to be on par with modern SAS standards.

going to buy my first sas figure soon, been eyeing these two for a while, anything i need to be aware of?

If you're just picking up the 1st versions then the paint on Dio is different if you picked up an original versus the reissue. I think the yellow tones are the main thing to keep an eye out for but I don't have comparison pics at the moment so I'll search later.

The World 1st is solid but he comes with a known QC issue where the eye placement can vary instead of what is depicted in the promo shots.

There's other colorways (SAS follow 1st, 2nd, 3rd, WF, Limited Edition, and Color ver.) but the real significant issue on one is Dio Black ver. who has a bad batch of figures where QC was forgotten and you can have him break with little effort or paint apps are not up to standard. The World 2nd and 3rd are fine though they supposedly suffer less qc issues on the eyes compared to 1st.

Not really a QC issue but you'll probably end up with it. A lot of Dios come with what I call broken ankle syndrome. It's not actually a broken ankle. The ball joint is just awkwardly twisted. If yours comes with a left foot that looks retarded, just warm it up and twist the ball joint 2 ways. It twists on both the ankle and the ball. Thought my Dios foot was fucked for months before I realized it was just a really tight joint.

Any tips on how to fix this? What type of glue should I use? Should I try to pop out that bit that's inside the hole?

I've been using Plastic Cement from Tamiya as a sort of general glue fix for stuff like that. Just a really, really small dab of it in the afflicted area and leave it alone for a couple of hours to set. It's not gorilla glue strength but it holds up minor pieces like that with no issue

We just wait along for Wonfest to show us anything but info leaks do come every so often in the form of text announcements and the usual website announcement direct from Medicos.

But yeah, it has been a typical slow burn with one painted Drifter, I think 2 more of the main girls from RWBY being shown, Prosciutto, a poster of Johnny, painted Gyro, and SAS BIG.

I was expecting maybe another new series they are willing to try out as a sort of "one-shot" attempt but it's largely stuff we know already with one surprise SAS.

The line only thrives when it comes to JJBA and the usual recolors but with Prosciutto it only creates speculation that 2017-2018 will probably provide us more side characters and villains for JJBA SAS. Summer WF may be uneventful with the prototypes they do have being painted.

I'm caught up with releases and with the recent developments I'm glad to wait to for something interesting that isn't a JJBA recolor that doesn't even pick any of the more interesting colors. It was a fun ride when monthly was a thing and I get to see the progression of Parts come through but now I can actually sit and wait on them.

Things were lookout bullshit when the pre order for Dio went up before he was even coloured, and then when Rohan went up before they had even told us what accessories he came with. Medicos are getting so slapdash it's ridiculous.

It was a bit of a weird one so it's hard to say. It was like 5 or 6 random figures, some missing minor parts like the soundplate but it was probably less than 1.5k a figure which was pretty good considering I was at least a little interested in all of them. Can't really remember, it was a while ago.

So why does Mandarake have stuff like Blue SP3 for 90-100k and YAJ has it for a mere fraction of that?

Is it because there's no bid activity or is it like that garbage on American ebay where the list price is like 5 bucks but then they charge you 60 bucks for "shipping"

Gappy needs a new figure in my opinion
His proportions aren't accurate enough and of course the face
I arranged this shitty comparison.
Gappy of course is not that muscular but I think the head fits nicely in there and with a leaner body(those shoulders, biceps, pecs, are a no-no) it would look great
Besides Gappy is as big as Josuke Part 4 and the line scale already fluctuates enough so a more consistent size with parts 5, 6 and 7 could look great

That's my biggest fear desu, that Gappy will look like a manlet next to Yasuho and Joshu.

It varies. Some can be extreme and other times it's not exactly on center but you wouldn't notice it until you look closely. Both my WF KC and KC Blue are in the latter category though the screaming heads make it noticeable. I only have WF GER but it's slightly off what the official pics look like on both heads.

Who knows so just wait patiently. Usually someone leaks out info on the Wonfest schedule for figures or Medicos themselves makes an announcement on the website. Just lurk here for an announcement but as of right now we don't know if Medicos will do more Part 5 side villains or flesh out Part 7 first after Valentine and D4C. With the speed of releases this general will mostly be very, very slow with the occasional new collector posting shots and asking questions.
