Android 17 is kinda meh, but that effect part is pretty neat, also comes with his gun! Android 18 is kinda interesting though; 3 faces and removable jacket! Too bad they don't scale well (15.5 cm) with SHF line.

The only place where articulation is worse on the new one is the hips. It has significantly better shoulder articulation, an added ab crunch, better knee articulation, and everything else is is at least as good as the original.

The old one has a few minor advantages worth mentioning but the new one is still a completely superior release and is of course much cheaper to pick up. The old one is superior with:
-More seamless look at hips and chest armor (the show even made a big deal about the rubbery seamless nature of the armor in many scenes)
-Hips have a slight bit more range forward and outward
-Calfs look a bit more natural though the new one may be more accurate, Toriyama anatomy is a bit iffy

I enjoy the old one still but there is no denying it's not as easy to pose in the iconic poses. The old one's advantages are generally useless in terms of any real posing options and the new one looks flat out amazing once it's actually posed. It does look really segmented and weird when standing straight up.

I know we've all been wondering when the Gotenks preorders are going up. I have a theory, lads.

The episode "Gotenks is Born" was aired in Japan on December 21st, 1994. So I imagine Bandai will chose to celebrate Gotenks's 23rd birthday with his figure. Unless they want to rely on the western market which means they could release it on October 8th.

They made a few old figures that go for a lot. Most of them will be remade or rereleased if they haven't been already. The line is very much alive. The current figures are a major improvement over the old ones. It's best to not buy the older ones unless there's no chance for a rerelease. Also if you're interested a Gotenks figuart is on the way. Most of the threads now are about speculating when his release will be. He's one of the most highly anticipated figure releases in the entire line.

It's actually 8000 in Japan, not 9000. 9000 just matched the lip flaps better but it actually opens up a continuity error of sorts. Vegeta's power level at the time was 18,000. If Goku really was at 9000 and went kaioken x 2 he'd of matched Vegeta which clearly wasn't the case in the show. He was still slightly weaker at a power level of 16,000. He had to go kaioken x 3 which gave him a power level of 24,000.

But yes, the accessory is still significant all memes aside. What else could he really comes with other than effect parts for his attacks which we all know Bandai is reluctant to give us. This is a much cheaper accessory to do.

And North America is largest market for these figures. Sure, they might have shown of Champa and Vados (before they even debuted in the anime actually) but they will almost guaranteed not put anything up for order until the North American market is familiar enough with it to want to order it. Why do you think we haven't seen any Universe 6 fighters yet, despite their high popularity? You will get figures of them around the time or shortly after those characters premier in the English dub.

The clothes sculpt is nice.
The paint is shitty.
the M on the forehead is thin and looks good at a distance, but the face looks real bad close up.
What I assume are sculpted veins are too big and look odd.
The blood, while accurate, is too much and too messy.
This is hardly a bad custom though. A little messy but not terrible. and some of your sculpting is pretty darn good.

God I really fucking hate how they were too cheap to fix the face. The slimmer purple section frames the face better but the old mold line is still there giving him a weird lump. It's basically going to make him WORTHLESS for any kind of photo taking or up close appreciating. He is only going to look good at a distance or in tiny tiny pictures.

It's just a damn face plate. They could have updated it and kept everything else the same. I highly doubt we will get a 2.0 Cell either so I pretty much have to take it up the ass and accept this less than perfect Perfect Cell which would have been more perfect than the first one had they fixed it though still not perfect. If they do release a 2.0 I will be fucking pissed beyond belief.

I do agree the eyes are way sharper, even on that shitty ass factory reject the Spanish/Mexican youtube channel got. I just hate that they half fixed it because it makes me think they MIGHT do a 2.0 but there is also a chance it's just Bandai being cheap and no 2.0 will ever happen. So I am forced to spend the $60 and not feel great about doing it.

It also brings up bad feelings I have about Bandai being cheap with DBZ in general. The rampant use of the Goku mold, the rampant re-use of hand molds and the half-hearted efforts in so many of their releases. I'm still mad about Ultimate Gohan using that shit Goku mold along with Vegetto. In the case of Vegetto they also re-used his kamehameha hands and just painted them white...which doesn't even match with the other newly molded glove hands. You can see fingernails when you shouldn't AND the color is off.

Just tired of Bandai's shit man. I thought we were past this kind of stuff when we started getting actual new molds. But I guess with that Kaioken Goku coming out and now this Cell they are proving they will still be cheap assholes when it suits them.

He was just a fun character, the mixed personalities of Goten and Trunks that made an entirely new little punk asshole. Most of his fight was fun to watch because of how much he dicked around and then suddenly impressed everyone when turning Super Saiyan 3. Personally I think he's a lesser popular character, but his figure looks really cool.

The only advantage this one has is a scouter with power level readings on it. Yes the quality of the face sculpts is superior. Yes, the armor is painted properly this time on the inside (original wasn't) and yes it will articulate better. It's a superior figure but man it bums me out how they keep getting less and less parts while it will no doubt cost $60 minimum. The old ones may not have been perfect but they were $40 and came with more.

And in fact, if you look at Awakening Goku, which, it might actually drop in price. Awakening Goku is $10 than MSRP right now. Thats pretty common with figuarts. They debute at $45-$50, then in about 3-5 months, they drop to $35-$40, before they start to climb in price at 12 months.
