New Mattel stuff

oh man, one of my favorite spartan armors.. and it's sadly such an easy pass. This thing looks horrible.
>>6186434
>Non removable armor on the feet
oh neat
mattel can learn
A week ago I bought an Elite Zealot for $10 and a Helioskrill for $5 at Walmart on clearance.
>>6186529
Dang, now to go to Wal-mart
Looking at the new figures, I'm interested. Definitely want to give them a custom paint job but also wanna wait for reviews after Kelly and Fred.
>>6186589
Nah they'll completely ignore scale and he'll be the same size as a Spartan
>>6186600
The six inch is more literal then scale with this line, after all.
>>6186600
but that elite is taller
>>6186571
Careful, I lucked out. Someone returned them to my Walmart even though they never carried the 6" figures.
>>6186604
Yeah and it's retarded
>>6186606
Elites are fuckhuge dude. Pretty sure the Mattel Elite is exactly the same size as a McFarlane Elite, which is a different scale.
>>6186620
If the elite could stand straight up it'd only be like, 1.5 CM too small anon, the mattel one.
>>6186634
Regardless, it's not big enough, and it's a lazy oversight
say what you will about the mcfarlane halo toys, but at least their paint texture didn't immediately scream chinese lead-paint knockoff.
>>6186645
True but the same goes for the whole, Spartans also not being 1:12th scale thing.
They're just 6 inch figures, not to scale, which I can deal with myself but can see why it's bullshit.
>>6186620
No, the Mattel one is comparatively bigger. Unless you count the last McFarlane Halo figures (Jul was about the same size).
>>6186664
While I'm severely displeased about the size of the Spartans compared to other lines, I'd at least expect the line to scale with itself.
>>6186665
Ah my bad then, I was just going off the fact that it scaled decently with McFarlane Spartans. Never did pick up Jul, despite my liking the design. Didn't like the character, especially when he was just wasted in the first 2 seconds of Halo 5

>Joyride's 2004 spartans look better than this
>>6186691
>>6186772
>BRUH LOOK AT THIS DUDE
>LOOK AT HIS LIPS
That paint job my dudes, comedy gold.
>>6186620
Spartan IIIs are not as large as the MC.
See now I'm curious what the relative scale should be for the Ghost given how the thread is going.
>>6186434
That's a surprisingly good looking figure. Will buy.
>>6187064
It's not mushy.
It's just lacking in paint and using glossy paint/plastic, which washes out the details in photos and strong lighting.
Gotta wonder who's buying this shit.
>>6187083
It really looks like the paint is just so thick. None of the edges are sharp. It's just gross.
are there any noble team figures aside from mcfarlane and play arts kai?
i own the PAKs and like them, but a smaller scale would be nice too
>>6186439
>>6186443
His face is killing me. It looks so bored and sedate. He's gonna look hilarious in action poses.
I never thought I'd say this, but this really makes me long for McFarlane's Halo figures. I did my fair share of complaining about those back in the day, but this really makes me realize how spoiled I was. I didn't realize how bad things could get.
>>6187093
Megabloks and ThreeA.
ThreeA's Noble Team was phenomenal, they had some of the best weathering the company's done in a while. I am frustrated that they will likely never finish the lineup, I really wanted a 1/6 Jorge. I think their heavily flawed Master Chief sorta killed interest in the line, which is a shame since the earlier ones, like Carter, are quite good.
>>6187103
I'm gonna have to disagree there. I have seen them in stores and played with a friend's. They are exactly as awful in person as they look online.
>>6187103
>the figures are better in hand.
they look worse.
In person, the paint... what paint? They look like they're literally like something out of a preschool section.
The proportions look worse in person too, making them look like they're from Little Tykes or Playskool.
I seriously don't get why people would pay money for such a downgraded line.
>>6186620
that image is an weird comparison to make, Spartan IIIs are shorter than IIs, plus that elite is hunched.
>>6186571
>>6186617
of the many wal marts I been to, only one carried any of the new halo stuff that was not mega bloks. Hell they weren't carrying even the last few Mcfarlane waves either when those came out.
Walmart just is not a good place to hit up for halo, unless you luck out and are neart one that has had enough success with the franchise to keep carrying them.
>>6187103
>Mattel is just fucking retarded when it comes to selling their product and let shit like that be the publics first impression.
>let shit like that be the publics first impression.
>the publics
you have to understand Mattel's very flawed mindset. They feel the primary buyers will be kids like always for anything Mattel. They do not understand how the collector market usually works, and can't comprehend that they would get more steady sales with these lines if they would wise up.
In their mind, they can put out crappy prototype photos because they 'know' the 'public' will not be seeing those images anyway. The first time the 'public' in the eyes of Mattel sees their toys will be on a store shelf. Not online.
It also explains why mattel is allergic to preorders, releasing release dates, and so on. They figure collectors are too minor of a demographic to waste money catering to.
>>6186443
Why does a brute have the UNSC on his belly?
>>6188089
He takes stuff as trophies from UNSC forces and cobbles it into his armor
>>6188060
and yet when Hasbro shit is just as hard to find it's always "it's the stores fault that you can't find it on shelves, Hasbro has no control"
>>6188120
>"it's the stores fault that you can't find it on shelves, Hasbro has no control"
how is that not the case?
>>6188120
not sure what this has to do with the topic of 'why does mattel put out crappy press photos?'
>>6188060
Yep, fucking Mattel.
It's amazing they havn't completely gone under and got bought out by a bigger company yet honestly.
And moreover this line actually turned out great considering their standard figure releases.
>>6188572
>this line actually turned out great
lol
Nothing Mattel is worth the money.
>>6186620
so is the Chief, dude's 7'7"
>>6188652
All Spartans in the Mattel line are the same size, dumbass
>>6188134
not sure why you're retarded since people were discussing distribution of Mattel toys.
>Hasbro defender
>retarded
pick two
>>6188639
don't take him out of context anon, post the rest,
>considering their standard figure releases.
At least the armor is not painted on bare flesh. there is that much.
>>6188639
JESUS, I expected them to be some cheap 15 or 10 dollar figures they expect 30+ Dollars for T H I S
>>6186434
>>6186439
Quite sad my dude people literally buy these who aren't 9 or under. Honestly spend like 10 or 20 more dollars and get a good figure with a good paint job that isn't made to shekel children in walmart.
>>6188826
Actually they do retail for 20$, for some fucking reason someone thought SCALPING this trash would be worth it.
>>6188761
The context that theyre better than hte other shit they produce?
It looks just as bad as everything they've ever produced.
Cheap as fuck.
I bought the Helioskrill figure, just because it's the only chance I'll have to actually get the armor on a figure.
It's fine, but I wouldn't buy another one.
>>6188893
It's a real shame it's the only one with flat paint on the armor really, the rest at least have a more metallic shine.
But from wave 1, it was probably the best.
>>6188893
God that figure is ugly looks like minimum effort maximum profit shekel if I've ever seen one.
>>6189148
It's funny that all the Halo lines after Joyride was cheap garbage made to tap into the dying popularity of the franchise, isn't it?
In their own uniquely horrible ways no less.
>>6189313
>that chrome visor
Why can no one do that anymore? Looks so good
Joyride halo 2 figures were the best. Im keeping my steel and white spartan forever
>>6189323
See now that is a good figure.
Unless that happens to the early bad helmet sculpt and your hiding it well.
>>6189334
No siree. These are the later ones in the series before they stopped making them. With the fixed helmet. I know which ones you mean though. I always wished they fixed the halo 1 spartans. I would buy those in a heartbeat.
>>6189339
I would pay top dollar if i can get an updated version of this. I scored this and the steel spartan for pretty cheap
>tfw got the Ghost for 9.99 off Amazon during holiday sales
>>6189599
Same anon, amazing price.
Shame the Elite's armor is the worst QC wise of all the 6 inch stuff so far.
>>6189323
have quite a few myself, really good figures
Have the jackal, chief, arbiter, teal spartan and H1 chief
>>6189261
I still maintain that mid waves of the McFarlane line were some of the absolute best when you factor in price as well.
>>6187102
Halo Collector on Facebook posted a video he took of a prototype 3A Jorge, I'm not sure when or where.
>>6191027
>>6191035
>>6191027
Found an actual picture
>>6191265
Nope. They are ~7" tall figures that Mattel is selling for $20 a pop. And yes, they do look unbelievably awful.
>>6191064
Well it's pictured next to their Halo 4 Chief, which is in its final release form in the picture, and it wasn't realeased that long ago. The picture was taken in 2014.
>>6191064
With Jun being shoehorned into a bunch of different EU stories (Initiation, New Blood, Lessons Learned, etc.), it's looking more and more likely he may make a cameo appearance soon. That could renew some interest.
>>6189323
Joyride Figures were the best man!
>>6191391
>~7"
They are exactly 6 inches.
And are still not the final release paint.
Just saw this at a local toy place. Is the elite worth it?
>>6194029
yes
>>6189323
>Joyride halo 2 figures were the best.
They're only a step above Mattel shit.
Ugly sparkly paint instead of metallic paint/plastic. Weird looking joints. Shiny glossy plastic. Soft sculpted.
Makes me think everyone who likes Joyride's crap is solely praising it for nostalgiafag reasons.
>>6194368
Or because, y'know.
That was the standard 12 years ago.
Gave him a black wash to make him a little less bright green
>>6188893
>can actually hold the sword unlike McFarlene
McFarlene shitters BTFO
>>6194368
>Makes me think everyone who likes Joyride's crap is solely praising it for nostalgiafag reasons.
same with McFarlene
anytime you see a McFarlene shitter, show them these:
>>6194880
>>6194891
>>6194909
this is what McShitter is making atm
>>6191391
Holy fuck
Why would anyone ever buy these?
>>6196144
because only children buy them and kids dont give a shit about quality.
Ugly plasticy toys.
>>6194368
Dude, fuck way off - Joyride figures are solid, last a long time and are well made for the price point (a decade or so ago). Moreover they don't look like skeletons like the Mattel figures and the gun props don't look like sticks.
Lastly they can stand on their own in sick poses unlike the dumbass shit McFargus released.
New shit
>>6197605
>>6197611
>>6197616
>>6197619
They all look good now, but I'm really dreading the final products. They used metallic paint on them at last Toy Fair and it was completely gone by release.
>>6197624
Yeah, that's my fear. I already have the McFarlane Buck, and Arby's the only one who interests me.
>>6194029
Closest you'll get to a Marathon action figure. Might be able to find it cheaper online though.
Or did you mean the Elite?
>>6197616
*Vomits instantly*
They put 0 effort into its skin XD buncha shekeling jews
>>6197624
>>6197619
>>6197616
>>6197611
>>6197605
The only images I foun of the display shows just these, the two other figures in the wave seen up top, the even crappier 12 inch figures, and not very accurate looking hot wheels of the vehicles.
Does this mean absolutely no Boom Co stuff this year for Halo? That is really upsetting to me if so. Those were easily the best thing Mattel was bringing to the table in their Halo brands, easy to repaint into very accurate display props, on top of having far more satisfying performance over Nerf guns.
>>6197744
> is the elite worth it?
>>6197605
>>6197611
>>6197616
>>6197624
>The retail figures will NEVER look like this
Mattel please, I'll pay another 5$ retail just keep the articulation and give us better paint.
But I'd still take a well articulated figure over basically paying for a statue with joints like the late McFarlain stuff.
>>6197619
>Buck
Wonder if he'll come with that interchangeable head in the end or not.
If so that'd be cool even if not the ODST look.
>>6197961
disregard that, I suck cocks
>>6194029
The elite is kinda worth it. But unless I'm mistaken the pink arm in the photo belongs to a Joyride halo 1 Cortana which are very rare
>buy the McFarlane Halo CE Chief because neat low-poly look
>it's shit
"Articulation limited by sculpt" is the world's biggest understatement.
>>6197619
As much as I like the Mcfarlane Buck, it's going to be nice to have a version of him that can actually pose.
>>6197619
Hi I'm Buck and I like to fuck
12in Vale looks pretty nice too
>>6200541
is that metroid?
>>6201197
Man classic Samus looks great
>>6197619
Speaking of which, anyone know if Forge will be getting a six inch figure anytime soon? He's the only Halo character I give a shit about.....
>>6203098
Unlikely. His game came out 8 years ago, and the game was a spin-off. Plus, he's currently dead within the lore (the only thing that could change this is if his daughter finds him alive somehow). If this was a collector line I would think that they would do him eventually but Mattel seems to only be going for characters kids will recognize, which is probably why they're sticking with the first T-rated Halo FPS.
>>6203159
Halo wars 2 literally just came out
Just picked up this guy today. He's pretty nice. I'll post other photos of stuff the store had in a bit. There was a really nice looking Arbiter, but he was like over $100
>>6203489
And Forge probably isn't in it due to dieing in the first Halo Wars.
Imagine making a new mold and the details are already soft and mushy as shit.
>>6210251
He is as a bonus multiplayer leader. Which is pretty big considering thats all anyone will ever play.
Here's some of the other stuff they were selling. Was tempted to get the drop of and the mongoose.
>>6210476
>>6210482
>>6210504
>>6210476
If you skipped the Mongoose, you did yourself a favor. It's not fantastic, and the figure that comes with it isn't either. The helmet doesn't feel like it fits on that body and it screws with the neck articulation.
>>6210517
Yeah, I skipped the mongoose because I had no idea what to expect of the figure in size or quality.
Still tempted to get the drop pod though.
And they had these too
Hey, im posing this in the 1:18 thread as well but since people in this thread like halo maybe someone here can help me.
Does anyone have the joyride warthog, or any other vehicles I suppose, and can you fit regular gi joe/acid rain figures into them?
Pics would be awesome but obviously not needed.
>>6210853
I've seen people use gi joes with the mcfarlane one and it didn't look terribly out of scsle.
Any anon own McFarlane's Ripa Mormamee? I skipped out on him when he came out and now I seriously regret it. I always liked the character but he's pretty expensive now.
>>6197755
Dubs wasted on this shitty post
>>6212903
no one really cares about dubs on /toy/ we move so slowly it is nothing that special, very easy to get if you cared.
>>6212640
Favorite Arbiter design imo, sucks the new Armor is such shit.
>>6213552
Way too much stuff going on with the new armor to be appealing.
>>6213546
not him, but he does have a point; that opinion is seriously wrong, case and point: this pic
>>6223248
comparing tomatos to cats here. They are complately different toy types. Lego type toy to actual action figure? At the same bloody show he shows those off he showed off the Destiny stuff which looks a ton better. Sadly they probably will ONLY look good and not have much articulation, but the point is that he still puts out stuff that is unarguably better looking then what mattel has paint wise. Might as well use megabloks to represent everything Mattel puts out, which WOULD be an improvement.
>>6223286
>destiny looks a ton better
(you)
so how much does McFarlene pay you suck their shitty ass brittle products?
>>6223248
Someone needs to talk Todd into becoming the revoltech of the west at some point.
Anybody have pics of the new hunters? Google is failing me
>>6225037
don't concern yourself with it, it's gonna be cancelled soon anyway.
>>6212640
I didn't even know this guy was rare I have him in a drawer
>>6189323
>>6210853
It'll probably be too small, the joyride figures are a bit smaller than joes.
>>6190159
i agree with you 100%
>>6225037
hunters? from destiny? CTRL+F destiny on the /toy/ catalog.
>>6223439
brittle? A completely different argument then 'looks better'. I personally have not run into any brittle halo figures except for the hands. Those hands were beyond fragile, sometimes it felt like they snapped being looked at.
But looks? again you are being foolish by purposely saying something completely unrelated to the previous problem. I apologize that the only toy line that your favorite show gets has to be either funko or McFarlane's block building line, but you must get over the salt and move on.
>>6225239
>make EVERYTHING look rusty and used
>looks better
what
>implying i would buy Reddit and Memey
>on Mcfarlene no less
are you retarded?
>>6225292
>Reddit and Memey
Wow that's clever
Did you come up with that yourself?
>>6225298
>implying it's mine to begin with
doesn't matter, why would get shit tier toys of a low quality show?
>>6225239
no you fookin dunce, hunters from HALO, ya know, cause we're in the halo thread?
>>6225325
You said new hunters, so I was confused, I had no idea there was new hunter figures coming out. I too would be interested in seeing what they look like.
>>6225647
I didn't say shit lol you're talking to two different people here friendo. I, too , don't even know if there are new hunter figures coming out but I figured he's def talking about those big monstrosities
>>6226320
The new articulation MB ones
Any hope of the old Mk VI design or a Recruit Spartan?
>Pick up Kelly
>Expect the worst QC wise
>>Only thing wrong with her is just the neck being loose, armor is fine
I guess the shit armor QC was just early run stuff. Outside of the butt plate I don't have any issues with her.
Or I just got insanely lucky.
sorry for the low effort shit picture
>>6236545
You have really fucking low standards for good qc then. I can see the calf armor splitting in the photo, and the chest/helmet still doesn't match the rest of the armor.
>>6236557
thats not poor QC, those armor pieces are removable so that is way they are splitting.
>>6236545
I'm happy you're happy man, but I gotta say, that figure kinda looks like shit.
Gotta love this shit folks.
You can tell they're aiming at the fucking 6 year old audience who will smash them into dog shit in the fucking sandbox, forget about them for 12 years and blow them up when they find it again.
Bring back McFarlane.
>>6241141
I was spoiled and used to shit-talk McHalo figures on the reg. If only I could have seen forward into this dark future.
>>6241145
i still have 2 odsts in the boxes :3
the entire Halo franchise is taking a nose-dive. the games, the story, the toys, the art. this series died in 2010 with reach, RIP
>>6249147
That was definitely the feeling I got watching the quality and especially quantity of McFarlane's offerings through the 343 era. that one year before he put out wave 1 of halo 5, he had just a measly 2 figures released both of them the Chief. He really seemed to be playing it safe with the figures he released since while yes Halo 4 and 5 were still popular, but he must have realized no longer popular with the sort of people who really collected his line during 3 and reach.
>>6242919
>in the boxes
cancer
So, in general, does the Mattel stuff have good QC or are there widespread issues that I need to watch for?
The reason I am asking is because I saw this in the PX today and had to look for where the brand logo was since I didn't want to get burned.
>>6256278
So far the only figures with bad QC was the Ghost's Elite pack in, Fred, and Kelly due to armor falling off.
However I got a Kelly a few weeks ago and her armor was fine so I'm assuming that was an early run issue.
>>6258358
speaking of paint, anyone do a custom paint job of the mattel stuff?
>Halo games go to shit
>Halo toys go to shit
Like pottery
