I'm thinking about giving my Mafex Boba's a cloth cape, would anyone that's already done this care to post their results?

Why would you put the worst fucking characters in Star Wars on the packaging?

Especially Poe "I'm actually supposed to be dead but thanks to shitty scriptwriting I'm not" Dameron?
>>

poe's the best new character though.

but rey's new haircut is a definite downgrade

So, I don't know if this is something anyone has pointed out before, but I was thinking about how people were commenting about how the First Order Stormtrooper helmets look like duck beaks, and it got me thinking...what if that was intentional?

BLACKED
>>
for those who have him, how/where did you get your darth revan, and for how much?
Is there any hope for him to come around under $30, or should I get him now before he gets up past $80 like the 4"?
>>
>>6187019
What I did find a store that was still receiving the stock of the wave and asked nicely (since it's usually not done) to put down a deposit for him at retail price + shipping. Took a few weeks but I got him.

I'm not from the US though so I'm not sure what options are available to you there but places like hobby stores sometimes receive stock of Black Series so you could start there.
>>

I actually like the new troopers a lot, but they're literally the only thing I liked about TFA.

I'd actually contend there are no bad trooper designs in any of the films to date.

All this 40th anniversary stuff is awful. It's embarrassing. It's like a game of what can Hasbro do to top how bad they are and it just keeps getting worse.
>>
>>6187235

I'm waiting for the action figures themselves to just be NERF darts with faces printed on them.
>>
>>6187249
Don't give them ideas!.

I've managed to pick up 4 Shoretroopers and 2 Deathtroopers but obviously I need Rebel troopers like in Rogue One. To my knowledge there isn't any Rebel figures that look like that, so what's the best option?

Will Endor troopers do?

>>
>>6186066

>Why would you put the worst fucking characters in Star Wars on the packaging?

Why would you put the central characters of the movie you're trying to promote on the merchandise of said characters from that movie?

I don't know. Maybe if you autist harder Disney will sell Star Wars back to Lucas and they'll make a whole EU trilogy revolving around Boba Fett and Sandakin Skywalker just to please you.
>>
>>6187543
Aren't there already plans for at least one solo Boba Fett movie?

I WANT REVAN REEEEEEEEEE
>>
>>6187562
He's really not the best and it's purely because of his hood. He needs to be modded to meet his full potential. Biggest thing he has going for him is that he's Revan

>>
>>6187664
couldn't you take the hood off and give him a custom cloth? I thought I saw some pictures
>>
>>6187764
You can, but you need to hack the plastic hood off first, not fucking that up in the process, have a spare cloak with hood laying around, and then glue it on properly. It's a fair amount of work to fix just one issue with him. I think he's got more problems than just the hood like >>6187664 said, but he's right about that last part.
>>
>>6187718
he was a badass in the now-defunct EU

He looks badass, and that's all that matters to me in a toy.

I'd love to see something official come of this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UYkL3orBoA8 but I doubt Disney could pull it off.
>>
>>6187847
There are Jedi's who could force jump planet to planet in one story.

It got DBZ level stupid. But unlike DBZ where the joke is the powerlevel bullshit EU just shat itself.

That said, I suspect she might turn up in The Last Jedi as a more badass character. I'm basically picturing Norrington from the PotC sequels.

It's kind cooler if he isn't a badass though, just capable.
To be honest expanding his character in any direction will always piss someone off, since everyone had their own wild ideas on what kind of a guy he was when they first saw him in Empire.

Was at walmart yesterday. Was suprised that they not only restocked their 3 3/4 black series after having nothing but a single Ackbar and Lando for half a year, but also were on sale for $9.99.

Phasma's shoulder and chest joints are very tight, and the plastic on the legs are a bit rubbery, but I'd say she'll alright. Was pleasantly surprised that she's actually taller than most figures, and not just a repaint of the basic ep.7 stormy.

I ended up getting Ahsoka on ebay for about 17 bucks shipped. Which was still better than spending the gas to drive around looking for one. But I think I found the culprit in my area. I live in San Diego, and I'm gonna be moving soon, so I figured I'd do a run around to the local comic shops, because I haven't really been to one for almost 8 years now.

Sure enough, several of the local comic shops had a bunch of the 3.75 Series Black figures, the 3.75 Marvel Universe figures, and the last few waves of G.I. Joes on their shelves, all for ridiculously high mark ups. And they all happen to be within a few blocks of the Targets and Walmarts of their areas. It just aided in reminding me why I don't shop at local comic and collectible shops anymore.

Though I did snag a 2002/3-ish Ephant Mon, Dexter Jettster, and Wind-up Spider Droid because they were at least cheaper than any Ebay listings I've seen.

I also think the SHF has a great likeness, but I agree that the BS has an advantage here. The SHF looks way too dang calm, almost happy even! Just doesn't work for the character. Whereas I can see a kind of focused anger in the BS' expression.

I really want that hood-down mantle piece though, so I may end up grabbing this anyways, haha.

>>6192432
Keep an eye on the Walmart website, anon. They've periodically restocked the last two 3.75" waves on there (for example, the Royal Guard was in-stock the other day). They've got free store pick-up, and Walmart's store pick-up is pretty fast nowadays (used to be soooo slow when the first started offering it).

>>6196410
I'm not even kidding they used cloth on him and Leia so they could have double joinyed elbows. Hasbro has to get their figures approved on an aesthetic level from Lucasfilm for their Star Wars figures and Marvel for their Legends line. Marvel is apparently cool with including as much articulation as possible. Lucasfilm on the other hand don't like seeing the cuts in the sculpt that articulation gives the figure. Hence we the elbows are hardly ever double jointed unless it is covered up by cloth. It's fucking retarded I know. I didn't believe it until I heard the other day listening to JediTempleArchives interview with Hasbro. The way Hasbro talked about it sounded like they weren't thrilled about how much Lucasfilm limits them either.
>>
>>6198449
I've heard this too. It's extra weird for the marvel side, where the male figures get double elbows but the females don't. You got a link to that interview?

>>6198599
>Legends has been fucking nailing it lately, why can't BS?
They talked about that at the start and kind of wiggled around it. They flat out said the two teams are in the same building, but other factors are at play. They said it's a misconception that the star wars team gets a bigger budget than legends in the same breath they mentioned bucks and mold reuse, so I'm assuming the paint is what takes a hit.

>>
>>6198662
pretty sure you scored a side show.
Just the 501'st.
>>
>>6198653
Yeah I mean I sort of get it. You don't see the cuts in the kees too much if the figure is facing forward. Much less obvious than double joined elbows usually are. It's still kind of dumb since they market this as a collector line and collector's unanimously want double jointed elbows and don't give a shit it cuts up the sculpt a bit.
>>
>>6195459
I want to get them too, but Amazon sill has them each for 35 dollars. Is distribution on them just fucked?
>>
>>6198718
>It's still kind of dumb since they market this as a collector line and collector's unanimously want
That's the part that gets me, like who do they think they're selling stuff to? I understand being concerned about the quality of product when you're putting your license out there, and you only have to look at stuff like jakks to wish more companies gave a shit. This isn't that though, so I don't know why they're still cockblocking it.

>>6198730
camelcamelcamel says amazon themselves have never had them in stock, so I'm guessing they haven't even gotten their cases yet. The wave they're in is still pretty new.
>>
Why does no one here buy the Die-Cast Elite Series that are a Disney Exclusive or whatever?

They look pretty neat, but no one talks about them here. Is the posability not that great or something?
>>
Completely not touching the Black Series recards.

Big, heavy figures will surely make it hard to find those cards in good condition.

I also don't like how the figure crowds out the image behind it. Going to completely pass on the whole new wave.
>>
>>6198944
I've heard they're shit. The joints get loose because they're metal, the paint on the human faces looks cartoony. I don't think Grievous could even stand at all.
>>
>>6198969
They are. I've bought a few and I regret it.

The joints are either loose right out of the package, or they grow loose over time. The figures will fall over just by standing them on a shelf. As time passes the joints weaken the figure fall to the ground.

They also have a ton of screw holes in the back. The TFA stormtrooper has at least 6. It's pretty ugly.
>>
>>6198991
Isn't that the case for most die-cast figures?
>>
>>6198662
Looks like the leftovers from a custom project slapped together.

Head, chestpiece and shoulders appear to be from a Sideshow Phase II Clone. Arms, hands, belt, crotch and legs appear to be from a Sideshow classic Stormtrooper with paint weathering added by the previous owner. Can't place the feet, they may also be from a Sideshow Stormtrooper but with the soles painted white. Gun looks like it's from a Stormtrooper and not a Clone too.

What a truly weird thing to find for $10.
>>
>>6198991
What the hell do you do, force poses beyond their limits or some shit? I'm not sure how yours just fall apart out of nowhere. Also you know that they come with stands too, right?

Also you bought the older ones. The new ones have covers over all of the screws, like K-2S0. There's even a new superior re-released Stormtrooper with screw covers and and orange shoulderpad to make him an "officer."

But the 12" Darth Vader (mislabled 10") looks absolutely dope and you can't see any screws because of his outfit covering everything. I think the appeal is the metal shine that you can only get from a die-cast, on top of a detailed quality paint job.

They basically should be fine as long as you treat them like a lightly-posable statue, or just leave them in the box.

But definitely only get droids or armored characters. The humans are fucking derped as fuck.

Basically with Elite series, they're either shit or they're fucking great. But the great ones tend to be the newer ones because they're improving things.

I feel like i'm missing something blindingly obvious here but don't know what. Why would the prices increase so much?

Oil has cratered for the past year and a half. Would it be the factory costs? I though Hasbro outsourced to a bunch of cheap Vietnam factories now?

It can't just be inflation, those vehicles weren't even made that long ago. Going from an msrp of $180 to over $400 in 8 years seems insane.

The case assortments for wave 1 of the 40th anniversary line is out. R2 and Han Solo are of course getting shortpacked because I guess putting in extras of the ones going for over a hundred on the secondary market and that haven't been on the shelves in years just makes too much sense.
>>

>>
>>6199414
The global economy's being held up with matchsticks at this point. 2008 was actually the beginnings of a depression that makes the Great Depression look tame by comparison, but most people have been tricked by massive market, currency and real estate manipulation into thinking everything is going on as normal.
>>
>>6200175
Who is in charge of case assortments at Hasbro? Because as far as Black Series go anyway I feel like they've been constantly shitting the bed. Jyn and Cassian have been included in every fucking wave since Rogue One came out except for one despite the fact they aren't selling. Finn was getting included in shit tons of waves last year despite not selling. Krennic isn't selling too well and they're packing him in more waves. I just feel like they're just doing the opposite of what seems like the obvious choice. Not sure why. I guess it can only be incompetence. Just feels like they hate making money almost.
>>

But.... he was.

His accidental death doesn't take away from the facts:

*He's one of six bounty hunters summoned by Vader personally to do the job that the fleet couldn't. Not only should he be considered badass on that alone, his fellow hunters should too. This is something you would have to be simple to not comprehend.

*Makes demands of Vader without consequences. Vader even goes as far as appeasing him when he's unhappy with a decision.

*Nearly kills Luke twice. Also almost kills Chewbacca. In all three cases outside circumstances prevented these character's deaths.

For his brief screen time, he's immemsely important to The Empire Strikes Back. His death scene was stupid, but you'd have to be dense as hell to not notice that he earns his reputation in-film.

>>
>>6200951
Dead serious. Lucas may have written Fett off as just a dead bad guy, but there was a lot of importance intended for the character. There's a reason for the elaborate design, the way he carries himself, the respect he's shown by Vader. Han Solo practically shits himself when Chewie tells him Fett is close by.

Lucas killed off Boba Fett because he became a fan favorite after his appearance in episode V. He has said that he intended for him to be despised as a cold calculating villian who values money more than human lives. But people actually liked Boba, so Lucas killed him off in the most humiliating way possible to show his disdain for how popular the character had become.

Yeah, it's just one of those funny situations where the singular form sounds weirder than the plural because it never gets used. Tusken raider would have been fine.
>>
>>6202729
>>6202743

They're using the names Kenner used back in the 1970s. Before we had Wookieepedia and all they had were some color photos of the main characters and black and white, non full body photos of some background characters with no names.
>>
>>6202729
>>6202743
Probably references to the original carding if I were to take a wild, not going to actually look it up guess. But HEY! Black series Jawa! Fuck'n rad.
>>
>>6202763
I was always confused about why Walrusman, Yakface, Pruneface, and Hammerhead were all in parenthesis on the cards of their respective POTF2 figures. It wasn't until fairly recently that I discovered that they were names that Kenner basically just made up because there was no actual official canon names for these background characters at the time.

Same. I've missed out on quite a few things on the site because I stopped checking regularly after the RTS transformers series was on there. Due to a combination of everything I was interested in being "sold out" and because their search engine became garbage around the same time. "Starwars Black Series 40th Anniversary". Nothing of relevance shows up. "R2D2 40th". His 40th anniversary figure comes up, but none of the others. Terrible.

Considering the original trooper came out less than 2 years ago, it's a pretty drastic improvement. I wasn't expecting the elbows and neck to be this bad.

I think their first couple releases in the line were sort of shit, and they knew it. Even fans panned vader, and everybody knew the first stormtrooper was way off. I don't think they expected it to do as well as it has so they probably had the B-team on it at first, but yeah, their early star wars stuff hasn't aged well at all.

>>6204072

>>
>>6204082
I never bought the original troopers cause the helmet sculpt looked like shit to me, thankfully it's less noticeable in black. The Rogue Ones are probably my favourite import stormies now, I've got four of them. I still like the height on the Mafex though.
>>
>>6204113
Yeah, I'm very glad I waited out the first version. The RO one is probably the first 6" stormie I'm actually satisfied with. I'm at two right now, but I'll probably end up with at least one more eventually.

Noticed the Shadow Trooper is down to sensible prices after the Death Trooper released, been thinking of picking a couple up. Still prefer the classic Blackhole design to the Death Trooper.

The original RotJ Stormtroopers are far from perfect, but I still like them for some inexplicable reason. You can get decent poses out of them with work, and the elbows will go a little further than 90 with some coaxing. You have to rotate the forearm guard to where it's the most scalloped-out and push the top hinge as far as it'll go before moving the bottom hinge. Also I don't know if it's because they were making these in far smaller batches to start with, but they are just really, REALLY nicely-made. I've got several and they're all perfect QC-wise right across the board. The only figure in the line better-made is the Scout Biker.

The R1 versions are all-round better figures, though, and come with way more accessories.
>>
>>6204218
>Noticed the Shadow Trooper is down to sensible prices after the Death Trooper released

Yeah, I see they're down to ¥4500. When I ordered mine they were ¥5000. I got him with another Rogue One trooper for ¥3500.

Crazy to think they were ¥7000-8000 a few months ago.
>>
>>6204218
>The R1 versions are all-round better figures, though, and come with way more accessories.
Yeah, the thick cannon they come with is great, I'm loving it way more than the regular blaster or the totally-not-a-MG3. I'm a little bummed he doesn't have a holster, but I guess that's the rogue one design.

And you said you have the scout, how is he? I enjoy the hell out of the black series one, but the price on the figuarts scared me off. Is he worth it if I can find one for <10k on mandarake?

He's worth the 15k in my opinion. That's only 3k over the odds of the retail place IIRC, I expected they'd have gone up further. The figure is flawless, the bike is nothing short of astonishing. If you like really well-made, quality display pieces it's worth the cash.

Samsfagging to add that you probably wont notice the shortcomings with the Black Series unless you have a figuarts there to compare it to, so you could probably just save some money there and get Black Series.

You'd be wrong then, one of the most impressive things about it in-hand is how every part has a different texture. The armour sections are all painted a high-gloss white, the boots are a flat white, the grey parts of the armour and the soles of the boots even have a very subtle wash on them. The black sections even have some variation thanks to very sharp casting.

So, after a month of looking, I finally found a Series Black AT-ST at my local Walmart. The only down side? It had obviously been opened and resealed. I was worried, but I inspected it carefully, and even though everything had been cut free of the ties, and were loose and rattling around in the box, for the most part it still seemed legit.

So I bought it, and took it home, fooled around and further inspected it, and it all seemed fine. Not sure why it got returned. The only thing wrong with it, was the screen accurate front cannon was misassembled, but I was easily able to pop it off and flip it over.

Also, some Anon earlier this month said something about the legs being sturdier on this version than the previous one, but it seems about the same to me.
