Greeblezilla is now, TLK toys and probably Overlord are this weekend.

Get ready for the butthurt from weebs and furries when Ultra Magnus wins the Prime poll.

I just want a Star Saber and Deathsaurus for Power of the Primes, man.
>>
>>6183014
>ultra magnus winning

Not going to happen. It's Star Saber all the way.
>>
>>6183014
I wonder what else he'll get though.
He already got both MP and CW Leader
>>
>>6183031

Voyager-class white figure that gets repainted into Prime.
>>
>>6183014
>>6183031
It all depends on what the Power of Primes line is
rumor has it that there's no real gimmick, just an app tie in like RID.

If that's the case, they could do whatever they want with him. I'd be very curious to see if they make a "True" ultra magnus, with a white optimus inside.
Otherwise I don't really know why they'd remake him. Hes not old. But then again, we got two Optimus' in TR, and two in CW.
>>
>>6183030
Normies probably have way more voting power, and Magnus is way more recognizable.
>>
>>6183046
That would be a waste, the only new white truck I want to see is Thunderclash.

>>6183052
Casual normies don't even know about the poll, from what i saw, most of fans on facebook were divided between Saber and Deathsaurus.

Reminds me of the guy who grafted a DeLorean model kit onto a G1 Sideswipe back in 2000. It looks like crap, now, but considering how limited realistic vehicle Transformer molds there where back then and lower expectations in general, it was pretty cool. The guy even made a commercial for it.
>>
>>6183052
way more recognizable and way too bland.

rather than get another Magnus, most people will be more tempted to choose a fresh characters that didn't been made in Toys for gazillion times.

Primal is also a pretty recognizable among normies, I believe that Primal have more votes than Magnus even though I can be sure that Star Saber will win this poll.
>>
>>
Why even vote for star Saber when he had the perfect MP figure? At least Deathsaurus has no real new figure yet. PRimal could use a new toy with a non-derpy alt-mode, and Ultra Magnus with an actual combining gimmick would be nice. Star saber needs this the least.
>>
>>6183091

That does look bad by modern standards, but I'm digging the way the legs turned out.
>>
>>6183108

We really should have gotten a Leader Star Saber in Titans. Titanmaster plus the Leader helmet gimmick basically adds up to a Brainmaster.
>>
>>6183108
Star Saber, Primal and Deathsaurus could use new CHUG-style toys.
Ultra Magnus already got 2 different MPs and a decent Leader figure that wasn't an Optimus recolor.
It's Ultra Magnus who needs this the least. But we all know who's gonna win this.
>>
>>6183115
The munky of 90s nostalgia?
>>
>>6183108
I always found Magnus fans funy, they want the armor gimmick from the toy that never was cannon in the cartoon but whine if the legs are red like the armor.
>>
>>6183115
>Ultra Magnus already got 2 different MPs and a decent Leader figure that wasn't an Optimus recolor.
>It's Ultra Magnus who needs this the least

And yet none of them recreate the single most iconic thing about the original Ultra Magnus toy; being a combining figure.
>>
>>6183131
This thing about wanting extreme show accuracy is a modern issue. I'm still in the mindset of the early 2000's; I like my figures looking like a blend between the toy and the animation with good elements for both. That was the idea behind some of the best G1 updates.
>>
>>6183132
That isn't canon.
>>
>>6183108
Maybe to cover the IDW version nobody asked for and to have someone for GHUG Deathsaurus to fight rather than being bullied by the MP.
Still, kind of bummed out about how Hound didn't win, it makes me think these are rigged since only the ones that were Primes already or Prime-like in size had a chance at all.
>>
>>6183136
lol like I give a fuck about canon. This is /toy/. Its the original Ultra Magnus toy I like.
>>
>>6183115
>But we all know who's gonna win this.
of course
ultra magnus is the most popular of the four, easily recognized by normies and won't take so much hassle to make toys of compared to the other three
i mean, what else can you repaint munky, deathsaber and star saurus into?
>>
Kek at all the people who threw away their votes on Star Saber. You're going to get a shittier version of the MP with no core robot or brainmaster. You should've just saved your GBPs and bought an MP one off Mandarake.
>>
>>6183146

New Tidalwave when
>>
>>6183146
Munky's got like 5-10 possible redecoes taking into account all the uses of the original ape Optimus figure.
Deathsaber might be able to be redecoed into Gigatron/Devil gigatron(RiD Megatron/Galavtaron) or TM3 Megatron considering he shared a mold with those at one point.
Star Saber is a stretch, but I can see them remolding him into Dai atlas.

If anything, Ultra Magnus is hard to find redecoes for. It'll depend if he has a core robot or not. If he does, maybe they could do something interesting beyond the expected Powered Convoy/Delta Magnus. Like an armada Prime remold.
>>
>>6183155
Probably never

I hope that after Prime Wars that they start expanding CHUG toys into other continuities. I'd lose my mind if they made a titan class Tidal Wave.
>>
>>6183155
Probably this weekend
>>
>>6183147
I kind of want it just so we can have a version that's easier to handle and impressive in a different sense, kind of like the Hero Optimus and Megatron figures.
Not everyone is obsessed with show accuracy, some just want a toy like that minimal-ambulance-is-not-enough-white-robot-inside-of-magnus guy over there.

>>6183155
Make the mod.
>>
>>6183147
The MP is too big. It's about the size of a CW Combiner. I'm looking for a leader or voy class. And if they retool Black Shadow for him, the titanmaster will be an adequate substitute for the Brainmaster gimmick.
>>
>>6183112
Who's to say they won't do it? We had noncombining figures in CW, we could have titanmasters in PotP.
>>
>>6183159
if magnus wins, I could see this going a few ways
A) if the power of primes line is animal heavy, we'll get ultra mammoth or Ursa Magnus or something half assed like that
B) if PoP is a "figure within a figure" line (pretenders, brainmasters, etc) then we might see a legit "Ultra Magnus Armor" edition
C) they'll do a slight remold/repaint of the previous magnus, this time making it less IDWish. Missiles that stick out the front, not the sides, forarms that are encased in blue on all sides, not just 3, boxy shapes, proper weapons
or D) a combination of B an C where the entire white cab is replaced with a small white optimus.

Yes, of those Magnus figures, not a single one did anything at all like the original Magnus toy's "combination" that basically entailed sticking a smaller white robot into the hollow cavity of the larger main robot.

It's not that difficult to sell off the toys you don't want from a boxset.

Assuming you get the boxset at a discount from places like Amazon, you can easily break even or even make a little profit while keeping the toys from the boxset that you do want. I was able to do this with CW boxsets, and I imagine it can only be easier with TR boxsets because the individual toys don't need to be collected together.

You can usually list toys and expect people to bid it up to at least standard retail prices within a week.

3p non foil stickers can be ok, but stock ones dont have longevity, questionable placement (like tr broadside's flight deck, if it was just flat it would be fine but OVER MOLDED DETAILS!?) and factory applied shit is a bane to those to those with ocd (i have sdcc fort max...if they aint crooked they outright missing).

Speaking of heavily modified Hotspots, I wish Onslaught had more remolded parts for his vehicle mode.

Getting rid of the emergency lights on his legs and remolding the fists to look like a proper truck cab would have been great. But as we all know, major remolds were WAY too much to ask for out of CW.
>>
>>6183696
It's a bit sad we already know Quickswitch is just a repaint with a new head. Would have been nice if he was a heavy retool.
>>
>>6183226

>replace the fire engine windshields with a full sized cab that flips up to become feet
>replace the fire ladder with a big folding box to be the trailer
>combiner mode uses Onslaughts configuration to give him those shoulder speaker things out of his hands

Wanting something that doesn't exist is always worse than wanting something too expensive.
>>
>>6183724
The only thing worse is wanting something that almost existed, like a cancelled figure. But that's definitely a close second.

I would have been a little miffed about another remold, but honestly that sounds like that would have worked great. I actually like CW Motormaster as a figure all by himself, but he definitely could have been better. Unfortunately he also had to become Optimus.

Maybe I can snag an extra Motor Master/Onslaught/Hotspot and give a new Motor Master a shot. A big folding trailer box out of styrene seems pretty straight forward.

Considering the franchise how has adult fans who grew up on the Beast Era and Unicron trilogy while it's true G1 will always form the basis of most, if not all Transformers series no matter how loosely, we can't deny that at this point there is or will be people nostalgic for later parts of the franchise.

It doesn't matter how BAD it actually was if it's what you look back as fond childhood memories. The G1 cartoon is, by all accounts, really fucking terrible and goofy and yet people still love it. I'm from the Beast Era batch and while I still love Beast Wars that show too is aged and goofy as fuck. Doesn't matter if it's good or not what matter is the nostalgic attachment.

The fact that some people on this board were probably 8 years old when they first saw them.

Personally, I like the Bayformer movies in away. The first is bland and the second is pretty miserable, but the third and especially the fourth are so crazy as fuck. They're the best dumb action movies I can think of. I know people get triggered by it, but I love that they've taken the Transformers characters and put them into this horrific elseworlds tale where Prime is lethal as fuck.

>>6183880
>I'm from the Beast Era batch and while I still love Beast Wars that show too is aged and goofy as fuck.
I disagree. I watched the show with some friends for the first time just a few years ago, and we all loved it. It was really fun, and while some of it was obviously just to sell toys, the show had a great sense of humor and a solid overarching plot. We all got really invested in our favorite characters and loved seeing them interact. We were all like 12 when the show first came out, but none of us watched it for whatever reason. Almost 20 years later, it held up pretty great, outside of the obviously dated visuals, but even those had their charm.

It was pretty clear that the creators of the show gave a shit. I think the only other TF show that had creators who really cared was probably Animated.
>>
>>6183905
Oh don't get me wrong, I still love Beast Wars but I was just willing to admit it isn't perfect and a lot of my love for it, at least in my case, really IS nostalgia. Mostly I was being critical as a counterpoint to avoid incurring the wrath of the Geewunners when I dissed G1 and pointed out that, with the nostalgia goggles off, it's nowhere near as good as people think it is.

Of course, G1's goofyness IS arguably part of the fun of rewatching it today.
>>
>>6183905
I think a lot of people watch the first couple episodes of BW and decide it's all shit from there. The show doesn't start to get good until the 97 characters like Inferno and Blackarachnia show up and REALLY comes into its own in Season 2
>>
>>6183880
>The G1 cartoon is, by all accounts, really fucking terrible and goofy and yet people still love it.

Because it had heart. It had a lot of heart. And it had gravitas. The music alone.

Same with Beast Wars. Like I said, sentimentality.

But what like that is there in the Bayformers movies? Those movies are just ugly. Through and through.

>>6183905
>It was pretty clear that the creators of the show gave a shit.

Bingo.
>>
>>6183859
What you are implying is that there is a universal transformer fan experience (or cycle) and from it that there is an agreed upon body of works that inform and shape our experience with the franchise. IMO that is not the case. BW to many is more like another thing like how some would perceived the foreign made tf cartoons or the idw comics or dreamwave comics or animated cartoon or the botcon fan material or bayformers. It's like one of many possible entries for people to gravitate around and inform our experience, but it was never something universal across the fandom.
>>
>>6183914
>But what like that is there in the Bayformers movies? Those movies are just ugly. Through and through.
Well, the movies are still too recent for us to know if people will look back to them with nostalgia. That said, I do find the third and fourth to be quite enjoyable, if still messy and awful.
>>
>>6183880
The dominance of the Beast era is certainly true for the North America/Australia/UK, but I don't think it's necessarily true for the international fans and definitely not true in the markets Hasbro is trying to make inroads into since as with China/Taiwan or various Southeast Asian countries/

>>
>>6184027
I've come to accept hollow forearms (and sometimes legs) as part of modern engineering or rather cost-cutting in engineering Being someone who hadn't bought figures since the Beast Era, I'd rather take some hollow pieces over some of the bad parts of the BW-era figures, namely an over-abuse of ball joints and being way too heavy to stand, something which has not been an issue for me with TR figures in spite of people bitching about quality control. Worst I got is a Trigger Happy with two left guns and an Alpha Trion whose lion paws fall off.
>>
>>6184072
Actually, the shins and toes are pretty similar to Laser Prime's as well.
>>
>>6184074
>I've come to accept hollow forearms (and sometimes legs) as part of modern engineering or rather cost-cutting in engineering.
It's a little frustrating though when they release deluxe figures that hide the hollowness with panels. Hollow's fine so long as it's covered or doesn't stick out like a sore thumb.
>>
>>6184027
>>6184072
You know, I do dig the idea of a triple-changing Optimus Prime as some 'what if' upgrade to a late G1 Optimus. Rather than go Powermaster or something which make him more powerful, he goes for flexibility and versatility, gaining the power of flight to battle Decepticons in the air.

Or at least, that's how I imagine how I'd have used him had this toy existed when I was a kid.

>>6184079
Yeah I do wish we'd get a bit more panels to hide the hollow limbs. Like TR Galvatron's legs.
>>
>>6183680
>What did that spinning thing really do? In mean it shot out, but did it have lift, like a rotor?
They worked surprisingly well. I never took them outside, but they had enough power to hit the ceiling, or shoot across the room and hit the wall with force.
>>
>>6184082
Oh yeah, I'd have loved that Prime as a kid. The Laser Prime like truck mode, and a jet? I'd have him single-handedly wreck my Decepticon forces.
>>
>>6184103
Honestly, compared to the late G1, the G2 and Beast=Era toys I had I find that most TR figures are very solid as *toys*. Sure they got shit an adult collector might complain about but when it come to being fun and playable action figures many of them hit it right out of the ballpark. None of them I got had any truly wonky transformation which could get confusing or break easily, their articulation is often at the very least decent enough to play and the titan masters themselves are pretty fun as a gimmick. That and as I previously mentioned, their added stability is a major bonus because I recall so many BW figures being unable to stand in robot mode.
>>
>>6184111
Adding to this: many TR figures, especially the Voyager triple changers have a bit of an accidental 'base mode', which is pretty cool because, for example, the Sentinel Prime/Astrotrain mold alone has at least 3-4 fan mode for a base. It's neat because it also adds up to the Leader Class figures having an actual base mode.

That and all those pegs to plug in weapons, titan masters vehicle and all that is surprisingly fun and can do some pretty neat, if visually wonky, things. But I think that's because TR has a 'play pattern' which is ahead of Combiner Wars despite how cool I find combiners and regret not getting back into collecting Transformers during CW.

And there's another remold I never knew I wanted.

Tabbing issue aside the Hotspot mold is probably my favorite CW Torso. It's really solid (aside from the tabbing issue) and has like no backpack.
>>
>>6184171
It's a cool concept but what would have formed his limbs? Presumably it's combiner mode head would be the 'super mode' head. Now if you want to get ambitious with this mold, make an Ultra Magnus who split into limbs to create Omega Prime/God Fire Convoy. I know, pipedreams but it would be neat I suppose.

I've always been fond of it for being the "true" return of Optimus Prime. Being a fan of 'super robot' stuff, I do dig the original Powermaster toy for having a regular Optimus mode and combining with it's trailer. Even if it did set quite the trend of 'super modes' for a decade.

That said, Star Convoy seems fitting for a post-season 3 Optimus, in an era where we'd see more space battles in Transformers. This is a 'space Optimus', you know? A super-Optimus that can go into space and fight all those weird late G1/Japanese continuity space monsters and villains.

Maybe it's not as jarring for me because I just got back into collecting Transformers but I do understand the frustration some people might see with this. The thing is, Hasbro is very protective of it's brand, not to mention that Optimus, Megatron and Bumblebee have been household names for toys more than ever thanks to the resurgent overall popularity of Transformers. To imagine a modern transformers toyline without at least Optimus would see impossible today. He is just that popular and Hasbro knows that he's the Transformers the kiddies will want or maybe, at least, the one their parents are likely to pick. Having him at different price points with different gimmicks also ensure he's everywhere. When it isn't Bumblebee who is everywhere, that is.

And feet guns.

Btw, was I the only one to notice that while Brunt is probably no longer included with Trypticon, the panels that make the front of the tank are now a part of the base mode by default? You can make it out in one of the Cybertron-Con pics, but the really weird part is that it doesn't seem to include the base guns that would go there, since one of TR Megatron's guns is there.
>>
>>6184627
Power core Optimus Prime's white color makes me think that a combiner Ultra Magnus would be pretty cool.

Like the deco would just be a white and teal Optimus Prime as usual, and the combined form would have a typical Ultra Magnus head, and the chest would open up and the crotchplace would flip down to show some remolded details resembling Ultra Magnus's torso.

Could have been something neat.

Trypticon's main gimmick is that he eats smaller transformers.

This is why he's hollow on the interior. He eats tiny robots and his belly is a prison.

The purple spikes on his feet are also a part of his cartoon model (though like 99% of the time they never bother to draw them unless he's the focus of a shot)

So having them makes him accurate to both versions of him.

Also they're guns in base/battle mode.
>>
>>6184686
>>6184690
Yeah, I noticed the part Full Tilt stays on is that hatch we saw in the Cybertron Con pics. Not sure if he can actually eat Transformers. We'll have to wait for Toy Fair.
>>
>>6184690
That's the gimmick that Deceptive Think was mentioning. Trypticon's head doesn't transform into anything. The Smaller robot does but Trypt's head is just a passageway so all the tiny robots fall into the main hollow collum which also serves as the main ramp in base mode.
>>
>>6184686
Well that explains why TR has shitall for paint apps

They don't want everyone getting scratched to hell when you shovel them into his maw

The hatch I mentioned.

Anyway... I'm probably in the minority, but I'm a bit disappointed they stopped having Legends figures interact with the Titan class. Devastator I get, but FM could have easily worked with Legend figures had they kept FM's gun in the arm, and had that section on his boob on a flip panel so Legend figures could fit inside while in robot mode (at best, some fight in vehicle mode if you use the ramp you're only suppose to use in base mode, they barely fight otherwise). Even looking at Trypticon's chest hatch, and that space between the base parts, you can tell he's not suppose to work with Legend figures at all.
>>
>>6184696
Please be true; that's amazing.
>>
>>6184696
the G1 toy didn't do much with the head either, it just sat there in the rear of the base mode.

Will Japan do a Gigastorm version? There's the big question.
>>

They haven't done Metrotitan yet, and he's a straight repaint, so I doubt it.

I don't know, I bet Bee or Blackjack can go through there.
>>
>>6184723
Metrotitan never got past the proposal stage according to Rik Alvarez who suggested the idea and was vetoed by Hasbro management.
>>
>>6184722
Those are just ramps, there's no guns for them to main, or any spaces for you to store them. I'd count FM's spaces, but they're there as an after thought since they couldn't design new legs, Japan even glued them shut.
>>
>>6184686

>>
>>6184628
Is that Battle Blades mold or the DOTM one? Can't tell with the feet.
>>
>>6184862
I'm pretty sure the colors were meant to match the G1 toy. Problem is, they color-sampled a 30 year-old toy which has been naturally discoloring over time, and no one was smart enough to realize this. It's actually not photodegradation in this case, since all the figures turned a similar color with or without sun exposure. More modern cases of this are Classics Jetfire and RiD Omega Prime, who were bone-white out of the factory.

So I got me a TR blackshadow despite my hatread for stickers, they ain't so bad on him apart from the tank ones.

But here I was thinking, what COULD they retool for overlord, obviously

>head helmet
>shoulders (could easily just repaint them depending on cost cutting)
>chest
>titan master
>jet nose cone (perhaps make it more reliant on the detachable shield and make it larger to match the g1 toy's oversized one)
>forarms

But then I thought...blackshadow has all this kibble, how would this work for overlord who doesn't have exposed wings or a jet cone behind his head?

While the jet cone can be shortened and the wings COULD be made smaller I think I found a solution with this alt configuration, rather than folding in the hinge I just flip it right over, the wings were a no brainer

I liked the look of him, but like all tr leaders he ain't worth full rrp (which is exactly what I paid unlike blaster and pmop), joints can be loosest in the strangest of places and the stickers can be a bother.

Plus this shit, god damn shield handle came off trying to pull it out, shit like this pisses me off more than crappy factory applied stickers.

I don't think takara could do much more for black shadow outside of painted thighs and mid arms, but for overly good chance he'll be drown in paint and (if my prediction is correct) new shoulders.

In short, only get this guy in any form if he's on sale, overlord will do you justice but if its the hasbro version consider waiting for a sale, toy is gonna be good between them both though.

It kinda looks like those ankle rockers he has in the leg teaser shots are either pointless or have been removed because it doesn't look like those legs will be able to splay in the slightest.

I really hope I'm wrong though.
>>
>>6185540
That's what i thought at first, but this is a render, not a real pic, so it'll be slightly off. It's possible the hip joint doesn't split, but rather the top comes off entirely, leaving a smaller joint to stay connected to the inner half of the leg.
>>
>>6185540
Its possible there's a mechanism for having the legs slide out slightly so they can splay out on a hinge, similar to how MP10's shoulder articulation works. He certainly looks beefy enough to support a mechanism like that.

Worst comes to worse the ankle articulation is welcome no matter what. I fucking hate it when a toy can plant its feet flat on the ground.

If people are wondering what the main changes in terms of colors for Takara Trypticon, it's mostly darker or more vibrant colors. Dark grey for pitch black, darker purple and possibly turquoise. He also may, or not may have colored eyes depending if they go by the S3 model, or the Headmasters model (they'll probably use the Headmasters one since that's his last normal appearance).

I wonder how Takara's going to bullshit Trypticon into the Legends fiction. Just regular Trypticon getting an upgrade before he goes and gets himself killed, or a revived Trypticon?

You can get away with it by making sure it's not identical. GTA does it by combining two different cars together, or changing the shape of headlights and such.

The good thing about CW is that as long as you got a torso bot and four limbs (and their weapon to form extremities) you can play with them and assemble a combiner. Bonus point if your torso is Cyclonus/Galvatron, aka the guy whose box fluff says he basically assimilate anyone he want as his limb.
