random collector questions:

I assume the paintjobs in this box set were released in the mainline? (except the one that is exclusive)

how many paint jobs per model do they normal release for the mainline? it seems like currently its 2. Do they ever re-release an older color from earlier in the year?

I don't think you'll see the same paint job on the same car within a year, you'll probably not see the same color on the same car for quite some time. It depends on how popular the car is to see how often it makes appearances, but unless it's a carry over from a a previous release, (not a re-release) you won't see it for a bit. But carry overs are different. If it's a popular car, it can get many many different paint jobs over the years.

OP here, got this from my last haul at Acme Food stores. I'm really loving this one. The amount of decals on the side looks really legit, plus it has some cool names like Yokohama, and the Japanese font is really cool

If I had found it single carded, I would have kept it in package. But the box was a win on the whole. Also it was slashed open down the middle of the plastic

There are so many models that I feel I missed out on when I look back at past collections over the years.

I am enjoying the current lines though. I can't find a grease monkey garage car, or the black mopar Dodge Charger SRT.

It's a term coined by some collectors as the "Diecast Liberation Movement".
In essence it means "open everything" or "open rare/expensive models".

Personally I open 90% of my cars to be played with. If I found a super treasure hunt I probably won't open it. But any doubles of TH cars I open.

This is the Matchbox official Willys Jeep from the licensed Jeep line.. a MUCH better car in my opinion. the Cliff hanger is cool, and more compact, but the willys has much more detail

From the haul you posted, these are my favs. I really love the matte black Viper, but I don't think that's a new casting, I have one identical in baby blue ( see pic) but the black looks oh so delicious!

I'm really pissed that the weathered truck in light blue is the kmart exclusive..there's no way I can get my hands on this way, without paying out the nose for it, on ebay probably.

And that green fairlady dat, is really nice, I've been seeing a few people with that but I haven't seen it show up in stores recently...

Hey fags I'm trying to find an old set I used to have back in the late 90's. I think it had a spooky theme to it. And I remember there was a breakable wall that the cars would go through.
I want to say it was part of the Top Speed series, but I could be wrong. I remember the cars would take off really fast and break through the little brick wall, which was made up of 4 pieces.
this shit is driving me bananas. I've gone through the Wikia, and eBay and nothing.

That's a good question, I'm not sure, I don't have any really. I don't think matchbox sells trailers by themselves or anything. I'll actually keep my eyes peeled next time in i'm Toys R Us. I think I'll bring the Ford along to see if I can find something that it can fit.

it's definitely exaggerated with smaller windows and bigger wheels than the real thing. The HW Model S seems to have pretty good proportions but it has a crazy bodykit.

I'm actually really liking the choices of cars that Mattel is putting in the 3 packs. I think they'd stuff them with garbage and rely on "You get 3!" mentality, but actually they have some really good stuff in the recent ones.

I have that MacClaren as well. Apparently before that release... Mercedes-Benz was feuding with Mattel about Matchbox and there hadn't been a Mercedes-Benz licensed car for years and years before it...

Welcome aboard! For me personally, I enjoy the "Chase". that is going to different stores seeing what they have on the pegs, and bringing it home, and posting it here and to the Race Grooves Facebook. I actually just found a really awesome Porsche in lime green which I'll be posting later tonight (stay tuned!) Yea most people (collectors that is) usually like the licensed cars instead of the fantasy ones, so those fly off shevles first. Your best bet is to mostly avoid the big department stores, and toy stores. Everyone hits Walmart, Toys R Us, and Target etc.... Know where I just found a huge gold mine? Shop Rite. I literally just got back and I picked up 5 cars that I've been hunting for. Pics to come soon!

New G (I think) cases are out at some retailers now. I got these at a Walmart in Boonton, NJ. I only collect new castings and buy any others I like, but they had a few new ZAMAC editions like the Zotic.
