Nigga, Ninjago is STILL by far the most popular LEGO theme, even when they've tried to replace it with Nexo Knights.

NO matter how bad the movie are it's gonna be a success, atleast moneywise

It might not have the normie appeal of "my childhood" from the Lego movie or Batman's appeal to the general public, but Ninjago is one of the most popular themes and the style of humor from the last two movies is enough to make people willing to give this a go even if they're not familiar with it. It won't be as big I don't think, but people won't pass over it just because "it's an in-house theme for Lego nerds".

It was pretty good. A dense level of nerdy references to Batlore, like the references to the various aspects of LEGO in TLM. Like TLM, if you're not a big fan of the property you still get an enjoyable film that pokes fun at movie tropes, delivers laughs, and has a heartwarming story underneath.

Is there any reason why Killer Croc decided to go full Rat Finch? Does he even ride that in the movie?
>>
>>6173571
> Is there any reason why Killer Croc decided to go full Rat Finch?
Because the designers thought it would be cool.

>Does he even ride that in the movie?
Yes. All of the villains' vehicles are used in the movie, although they don't get a lot of screentime. There's at least one vehicle that hasn't been revealed as a set.

>>6173548
Babs spends about as much time in that outfit as Batman does in the white Bruce Wayne suit. She changes into a different costume when the villains attack (but not the Commish outfit, so it's weird that they put that outfit in the Scuttler set).

She wears the Commissioner outfit for the rest of her time as Barbara and not Batgirl. The police uniform in the CMF series appears for one shot.
>>
>>6173477
So it's a separate continuity from the TV series? Good, because i never liked that lame show.

also why is it about family again?

i guess thats true, but dick likely has very few outfits, and i thought gordons was just his blues (or his normal commish outfit, i dont remember)

Honestly, I think TLBM is a good date movie. It's not good for making out or anything, but you'll have a good time laughing while some parts of it make you think about the relationships you have in life.
>>

The last time I went to PNB, the peso to dollar rate was like p48 to $1, so about p720 on a Saturday night.

Do they fuss about how much you spend on toys? If so, don't get anything too big. Creator has a bunch of building sets that are smaller than the $150+ modulars, while still looking neat.

Nah it wasn't me. Actually I never was really interested in Ninjago but really liked the new trailer.

Yeah, they do but, as you have suggested, everything else will end up looking "childlish" to anyone that isn't a LEGO fan. And i don't think your parents are.

maybe try with some star wars? normies seem to think that licensed sets are less childlish because they know the source material.
Also while pricey, SW is cheaper than the modulars or the creators.

Also come on, Yellow submarine is "just" 50€ here. it's not that much.

Damn i love the variety of things lego is making nowadays. Its literally my favorite thing in the world because its always creative and inspiring.
I had some Lego during 90s but it was just plain boring (blocky spaceships and boring castle knights where even bad guys had smiley faces - i never liked that as a kid). 00s were just awful and their builds were making me uninspired + i was during my college days.

NOW we talking. I think it all started in 2012-2013. I noticed the minifig series, Ninjago, Chima and other crazy shit with new minifigures, new parts new themes new weird and cool stuff.

Please lego.
NEVER. STOP. I hope we will not experience the next "00s" when Lego will make something stupid.

And how i hate those "90s kids :^)" who dont even buy lego but still say shit like "maaan...lego used to be so much more creatuve back then".
Please fucking die. Or just stick to Dr.Who's Funko Pop and dont touch my Lego.

Oh,Bionicle had fans, did Lego care about them? Not that much.
Anyway this movie is from Lego Movie universe.
Also it's confirmed that Ninjago season 8 will come in 2018.

I really really hate these 12 year olds bitching about the film already.

>the voice actors are not the same! The new ones suck!

I would rather have new voice actors. Wu's and Lloyd's original voices were hot garbage and anyone who disagrees needs to take off the nostalgia goggles.

The redesigns are better too. Nya doesn't have those nasty dimples on the corners of her mouth anymore, Lloyd's eyes look better as green, and all of them have nes hair and new masks. Sick of the whining.

What is actually lazy is other media treating lego as squishy characters instead of actual lego
But then again, liking the sets is one thing, but if You care that much about shows aimed directly at elementary schoolers I don't know what to say.

To be fair, as far as I know the Lego movie and the Lego batman movie were cgi, not stop motion. They just looked like they were. Still it must have been incredibly tedious work

Yes, they were CGI and they intentionally skipped a frame or two so it looked like stop motion. Obviously animating is not a walk in the park either, didn't mean to impy that

I kinda want to get Jestro's mobile so I'd have full collection of these bad boys. Too bad the mobile itself is a bit crap build wise, and other than the monster, only thing I would really want is the book. Hell, I even got Jestro from BL a while back because I figured I won't be getting any set he's in.

And one store here is even trying to tempt me because the mobile is 50% off there. What should I do?

I mean, there are some Lego sets that look really cool, and then there are some Lego sets with themes that make me feel like only kids should be playing with those sets.

For example: I feel like an X-Wing is pretty cool, and that nobody would bat an eye if they saw one on display, but if it was a Creator house or something they'd probably ask why I have that "toy" on display.

>>
>>6173816
There is a difference in detail between these small sets and modulars or other large buildings. These really do look toylike and childish.

Factors that make a set good for display and less stigmatized as an adult:
- based on a real thing / larger ip (star wars, architecture sets, real cars)
- lots of detail (modulars)
- large scale
- advanced techniques (technic, modulars, landmarks)
- more realistic colors (dark red, green, blue, tans, sand colors)
- a building or static piece (not a vehicle, although there are exceptions)

Why does Lego have such a complicated relationship with guns? Classic pirates had muskets and flintlocks, Western gave us revolvers, Batman and Indiana Jones used pistols and Tommy gun-styled weapons, and Star Wars has always had blasters; then with newer Batman sets and Marvel sets they started using those dorky Alien Conquest guns, but made a newer, more realistic revolvers for Lone Ranger. Now, March Harriet and Red Hood CMFs are using the 1st wave Batman guns again.

Why are they so inconsistent as to whether or not they want minifigs to use guns?
>>
>>6174645
but they are consistent, guns only appear in historical and/or licensed sets
>>
>>6174659
They're inconsistent with realistic guns, though. Sometimes they do realistic ones, sometimes they do the sci-fi double barrel guns. Then other times they'll officially turn the sci-fi guns into more realistic shotguns. Or they'll do none of those things and give the characters petrol nozzles instead of guns. In fact, I think with the Tommy guns and pistols, this is the first time they've used those molds since whenever Indiana Jones was.
>>
>>6174446
Where do you get the shark mouths from? Like, which Minifigure? Been out of the loop with Lego for a while now.

I'm a big fan of the 80's and 90's style of building. With the available range of pieces they had they more or less perfected a more abstract style that was easy to build for kids, fun to play with but still specific enough to resemble real-life or make-believe subjects. What you call just plain boring and blocky i think is a good style on its own. Ofcourse this is highly subjective. But seeing what parts they had to work with, the more minimal aproach was a good decision in my opinion.
The fact that "even bad guys had smiley faces" is another product of this that i actually really like. Instead of already existing binary badguy/goodguy relationships, like a lot of current themes, this challenged kids to come up with their own or expand upon the stories and rules.

The last thing that can be hard for adult fans to realize is the "easy to build for kids" argument. While Lego is getting better now at giving the consumers different difficultylevels of builds with the juniors line for example, i've had parents tell me that the newer sets are so complicated compared to the older style that the sets get built once and then they don't really feel like dismantling them anymore. They have more trouble getting their heads around the more advanced techniques used in sets, so when they build their own mocs they fall short compared to the original models by such a large degree they just keep them stock. Adult fans now often had a more natural learning curve along with the complexity of sets over the years. Starting off with simple sets. Maybe getting into some model-team early on. Then the later 2000s/2010's stuff and eventually graduating with modulars and ucs style builds.

After the company continued to produce more elements and had already produced a lot of variations of the 4-wide town style cars etc. it was only natural for them to evolve their style of building (wich started off terribly in early 2000's)

My "local" Target is packed with boxes of S16 CMFs, but TRU had boxes and boxes of Batmins (as well as an Ultimate Beast Master on clearance), so I was able to pick up the two from this wave that I wanted. Just had to give the Eraser a quick shoe polish and he's good to go. Also managed to find a Ghost-Who-Walks. Dimensions level pack when?

They also had tons of Mixels, so I got one of these. I'd had my eye on it since it came out, mostly because I never had a street sweeper as a kid but always wanted one.

Ofcourse the classic smiley is an obvious choice. And the classic skelly is definately among my favourites and super iconic. Only one way to find out.
Most of the times people are indifferent.
One time a manager asked me what was up when i was feeling the baggies up for forever, I told her what i was doing and that i without succes tried to find a particular one i wanted. (when she asked me i felt up the last one in the box to no avail, wich coincidentaly was this >>6175494 exact figure) She then actually got a fresh box out of storage for me so i could get the one i wanted.
She might've thought it was a bit odd, but in the end she was cool with it. They're just interested in you making a purchase. To make it easier on them and yourself:
-make sure you pick a moment when it isn't super crowded and chaotic
-you leave enough space for other customers to browse
-and leave the place organized when you leave
-realize what you're doing is not literally hitler and take it easy so you don't make people nervous with your excessive sweating and paranoid quick glances

If they somehow go all amberalert on you just tell them you atleast want to check out the selection of several figures you want to buy to show them they deny themselves sales.

the answer is yes, but if you're sweating like an animu character and look shifty as fuck, an employee is going to ask what you're doing
most stores dont care though
>>
>>6175496
Depends on the store. It doesn't hurt to try though. If the minifigs are across the counter, ask to see them. If they're right in front of you, just start feeling. Should someone ask what you're doing, tell them the truth (you're feeling for a specific minifig by the unique parts it has).

If they don't like that, then so be it. Some stores are really cool though, because they feel the bags up beforehand and you can just ask for the one you want.

Thanks to you guys, I finally got the model representing Defender from the World Builder game tracked and snatched up (though I was dumb and bought it out of Amazon where they marked it up x4 the Bricklink price), and found some funny curiosities:

>The World Builder model has the blue panels on the legs facing outwards where the instruction manual has them inwards.
>The physical model has these ugly hinge cylinders that don't connect to anything while the World Builder model replaces this particular aspect with 1x2 blue bricks. Conspicuously, set 4099 lacks these bricks entirely.
>The instruction manual is inconsistent on the exact makeup of the Defender's foot base: the finished design shows two 1x2 1/3rders helping stabilize the feet (seen installed in this picture), but neither the world builder render contains them nor the instructions ever state to place these.
>The Defender's companion model has no instructions at all and I had to use all the images, including the one on the back of the box to properly build it as each obscures a specific angle. I think the feet are supposed to have orange 1/3s to fill in the hollow space of the ramps as they and blue are the only matching pairs of blocks remaining when built, but it's impossible to tell since no image shows their inside.
>The eyes are opaque, and not transparent orange like I assumed they would be.

Now, anybody know of a set you can find in a market that has two 2x1 blue blocks that I can obtain without having to buy a whole tub? I just got back into Lego after several years and most of the old stuff was cleared out a long time ago. The Ewok and Orient Express fellow in the jumpsuit (the result of putting the first head I could find on the first complete body I had on hand) piloting the mech I made out of the remaining Robobot parts are all that's left from that period, banana and goth man being blind-bag impulse purchases.

Again, thanks for pointing me the right way, Lego General!

A closer look at the Mechano-Pummeler I mostly made as a measure to minimize the amount of bricks sitting around since I don't exactly have a place to store them anymore. Wish I still had some remaining flats to keep the upper arm protrusions on better, but otherwise the whole thing is pretty solid in construction. It is capable of rapidly spinning its torso a full 360 degrees without toppling provided it is on a solid surface.

10706 Blue Creative Box is a cheap 2017 set that appears to have four of those.
Here, double-check the inventory: http://brickset.com/sets/10706-1/Blue-Creative-Box
>>
>>6175591
What blue exactly? I have trouble seeing what shade of blue you want, but this small creative supplement set out now is cheap and has a bunch of 1x2 bricks in med azure and med blue in it.
http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemInv.asp?S=10706-1
>>
>>6175608
>>6175609

Sorry sorry, my terminology is rusty. I believe the brick's exact identity is #3004.
>>
>>6175622
That's the Design ID, which identifies the type of piece (e.g. is it a 1x12 brick? Is it a 2x4 tile?). If you want an exact answer, you need to provide the Element ID. It's the number you see in the inventory on the last page of modern instructions. The Element ID also acknowledges the color of the piece, rather than just the shape.

But I think the easiest way for us to determine the color is if you gave the Sey Number for the Defender set. That's the number on the box.

Yeah, the stores probably just fill the main box out of several boxes as needed (I know they do that at my TRU, they have like 13 boxes open and scattered all over the store, packs just sitting on the shelves and floor, its a clusterfuck), and online they probably have a bunch open in the warehouse or whatever and just grab them at random.

So what do you think, will they add NEXO Knights to Dimensions year 3, or just do a story pack for the Ninjago movie?

Kinda funny that they'll have to have a Ninjago presence next year after flooding the market with unsellable ninjas in year one.
>>

Raven is scheduled for this year, so even if they didn't go ahead with year three, it would have to be a titanic level flop to not go ahead with the rest of the year.

Whats with men over 30 and their obsessions with building a realistic looking Lego Town surrounded by Train Tracks?

Is this because all that "trains + town modelling" is an international "Dad-hobby"?
Will current generation of dads be building towns and train tracks too when they hit 30-40?
I hope not.
When i will be 40, im pretty sure i still will be into building a huge battle ground of mechs that fight with army of evil robots!

Ok...can anybody explain to me, what race those brown minifigs in Batman Movie supposed to be?

I still cant stop seeing Comissar Gordon just a regular white guy with brown skin color.
Who is he? A black person? A hispanic one?
May be he and Barbara are Mexicans?

Lego did an exact same mistakes those girls from Tumblr do when they "support minorities! XD". They just draw a white guy and bucket-tool fill him with brown color. Ignoring any facial details of a specific race.
What race is Gordon supposed to be? Change him to white guy and nothing will be different except skin tone.

>and then mod the buildings for battle damage, scatter wrecked cars and shit everywhere, put in Mechagodzilla or aliens and something
thats the different. I like your idea - thas exactly what i would do after buying an expensive modular.

I meant to say that those "dads" often go into a super realistic town with everyday life and people and train tracks.
I guess it has something to do with that generation of dads having that "big table in their garage that has a town model with working trains"
Hopefully our generation will be cooler and after 20 years we will have our own Jangbricks building a technofantasy city that being attacked by mecha dinosaurs from space!

Oh, wait, found this description on [toylers]Reddit[/toylers]:

>The “Ultimate Batmobile” set will be released on June 1 with a retail price of $129.99, Lego says. The set includes eight minifigures of “Lego Batman” characters — Batman, Robin, Batgirl, Polka-Dot Man on a flying disc, Alfred Pennyworth (in Batsuit), Wicked Witch of the West and two Flying Monkeys. The Batmobile divides into four different vehicles — the Batmobile, Batwing, Bat-Tank and Batcycle — and there is a rotating Bat-Signal with a Lego light brick. The Batmobile measures 4 inches high, 14 inches long and 6 inches wide.

So you can probably detach the back to make it look like that pic.

This is truly a strange timeline.

I'm not even a big Superman fan but seeing him being a mopey douchebag in the current movies is just sad

Probably was or will be a free with purchase item. Priced like that so they won't just be bought up.

>>6176587
>4 seats
But Batman's only got one butt.

>>6174809
I already own other versions of most of it so it's not worth the price for more of the same, 3 minifigs and a big door.

>>6177187
There may come a time when no one cares anymore.
>>
>>6177187
Considering you can buy them for about 80 cents on ali express.....

Good luck finding an idiot willing to pay the high prices for him.
>>
>>6177197
the one you linked has been.

What amazes me it's that it's almost unnoticeable.
reading the description i get why it's like that, but it really doesn't look like a great set, visually speaking.
>>
>>6177198
>Considering you can buy them for about 80 cents on ali express
you are an idiot if you actually believe this
If you are some smartass meaning that people dont care about having an original and prefer 80 cents of chink-one from Ali Expres...then you just plain retarded.
Commit sudoku.

Is he made out of solid gold? Even metal with gold plating?

Or is it that shit "chrome" paint they use that would flake off with the smallest touch?

Yeah, youll find someone who will pay you three figures for a piece of plastic in todays market.
>>
>>6177199
Yea, took me a minute to kick in, then again I am at work so small slips might get posted from me.

Yeah you are a literal retard.
Of course you can be just simply jealous kid with no money, either this or that - im not interested in conversation with such a moron, kek.
>>
>>6177205
no prob anon, I was using your comment as a trampoline to express my sentiments over the new set anyway.

jood job!
>>
>>6177215
No, I fully understand the value of toys as collectables. I ALSO understand that just because you see them LISTED at $200+ doesnt mean dick. You have to find someone willing to pay that for it. I also know that the market has enough fakes (yes, printed/painted on real lego parts so they even have the marking on them) in it that there are guides dating back a couple years on what to look for to see if yours is legit.

A set getting that kind of cash and selling quickly, I can see, but a single mr. gold figure?

I would expect it to sit on ebay/bricklink or wherever for a year or three before you even get an offer. My family used to deal in sports memorabilia and trading cards, I have seen markets grow and grow and grow before finally bursting to nothing.
>>
>>6177034

Figured that was the case, thanks for the help though. Hopefully lego will eventually do more sonic sets.
>>
>>6177167

Love they are releasing some of the more obscure dc characters, never heard of calender man before, might get some lego batman sets.
>>
>>6177232
Those characters arent just obscure, they are relics from the 60s and 70s. I love that they are getting some recognition.

yeah, the weird old villains were the biggest factor for me to buy the movie sets. the fact that they've been all pretty good sets cemented my love for them.

Also, to my surprise they're not that underused as I thought. Calculator, Zodiac master and even fucking eraser (so far my favorite obscure batman "villain") all had adventures in both 90's and 2000's comic books!

Not to mention Polka Dot man. That guy had a suffering life.

dug in al old parts bin and built my very first wojit! also trying to make a jewelry but it looks like shit at the moment.

Got suggestions? I'm trying to make something like the not-modulars, like the Corner deli.

He never said authentic, he said one on aliexpress, which clearly means a knockoff. Sounds like you are just trying to keep an argument going.

I agree, my wife has the impression that the complexity of today’s models (and also my personal building style (low-level (master)builder)) scares my son of building freely. He’s five. We have a ton of lego, much more than I ever had as a kid. Also a lot of classic stuff. I think his builds kinda look like what I did as a kid, _although_ he has that many more pieces to work with.

I like the eightees style too, partly because I grew up with it perhaps, but also because the idea of countless possibilities in few pieces was much stronger.

Perhaps the number of different pieces is just one topic for kids, the higher number of colors being the second.
