GMK is pretty shoddy paint-wise (those gums, lower jaw having QC issues), though the actual figure itself is nice.

Shame they didn't go with how the prototype actually looked like. It actually looked pretty good barring the inaccuracies, would have settled with that one instead of shelling a lot for the SHMA.

Look at a majority of Godzilla figures, especially in the case of the latest two, Legendary and Shin. The spines are not simply on the back, they can run up the neck and down the tail. In Legndary's case you'd have to replace every spine for the glow effect.

Now look at even older Godzilla designs. You would have to remove the torso joint to make swappable spines a thing, or have multiple panels to remove on figures that are already notorious for holding together as is.

Maybe on larger scale figures like the recent BioGoji (which has glowing spines thanks to electronics), but on smaller scale ones like most MonsterArts or NECA figs it's just not really something that will work too well.

The 12 inch line is alright, but the mold on this guy is kinda weird, it doesn't resemble any iteration of Godzilla, honestly. (Even though it's suppose to be based on Final Wars, but it has a weird KiryuGoji thing going?)

I ended up selling this guy and the 12 inch Kiryu, I got real tired of that awkward leaning pose. The Gigan's alright though, you can pretty much put it side by side with the X-Plus. (Though that release isn't inherently great)

It's all right there in the movie. Each time Godzilla "evolves" it takes on a form better suited for protecting himself/causing destruction. The next step would be what was coming out of his tail.

That one is a bit outdated in terms of engineering, but it's still a pretty poseable figure. He's probably the best choice if you want a vanilla Godzilla.

If you got the recent reissue (which you prob have), keep in mind there's no blue airbrushing on him. However, he doesn't have that annoying torso popping off issue so you should be good. Personally, I think he looks better without said airbrushing.

Can confirm, my friend runs a toy store and he expects for between 10-25% of all his neca shipments to be defective. ( up to 10% regularly, 25% for aliens)

I've seen him unpack neca figures before and separate the clearly broken ones before so he can ship them back.

The older designs had more of a pulp design aesthetic to them. They felt like a mix of classic robot designs, and there was something to love for everyone.

The new ones look too uniformly current in their design, and a lot like generic scifi armor we might see in mass effect than like actual machines.

Looks like we might get to see some more Legendary-redesigned kaiju soon.

It needs a lot more work than that. Teeth, needs a matte coat, the body overall tends to need touching up on the red and black. It's not the touching up I'm that bothered by (though really, I shouldn't need to do such a thing to begin with), but the current aftermarket prices now.

Shame Bluefin couldn't get the newer release of Shin Godzilla, otherwise I'd bite the bullet and go for that one.
