Interesting joints of note, wrists are the knee joints in the Minis, so a smooth spherical joint. shoulderpads on ball joints used for the neck in some Minis, and shoulders are just a single bigger Revo joint.

Neck joint can be pulled out for extra movement, probably a 6mm double joint, and hips are probably revo joints like most past Revoltechs.

There's an interview with Yamaguchi and the project manager, who is the comic book I'm guessing, in the latest Figure Oh.

Fuck it, I'm buying it, looks like it has a special section about AB as well.

Apparently they talk about wanting to do Juggernaut, Moon Knight and Gambit someday. Gambit should be doable.

We need a Carnage figure first!
>>
Just paid for Spiderman it's headed my way!
>>
>>6149076
I think it's pure personal taste talk so who knows. The line has to be really selling at that point.

If they really wanted to do Moon Knight but didn't do Batman first that would be a crime. I'm guessing they might cut cost by sharing or slightly modifying sculpts with Batman so it wont be a overpriced figure of someone most people don't know about. I'm going with the assumption they must be doing Batman as soon as they can. Still difficult to tell if they will do DC.
>>
Please, no more superhero revoltechs for a while, I need him to go back to doing more niche IPs again.

If them doing more popular selling superhero figures would allow them to produce some more niche figures alongside, I'd be okay with that,
>>
>>6149269
Yeah I think Kaiyodo tends to average out the prices between the hot items and the niche, less produced items. Hence we don't see too much difference in prices compare to say among the Vulcanlogs or even figmas.

A mix of things though I did order one item twice for myself and a friend as a gift which does bump it up by 9k additional. I sort of estimated shipping costs by EMS by looking into general box sizes and compared past orders and I'm seeing a fairly hefty shipping cost to push my order into 30k once all is said and done. I regret nothing once I can get detolfs and organize my living space better but this is my last major order for a long time.
>>

30k isn't that much these days.

I never was a big spender. Just can't justify it.

Suggestions as to whether I should use EMS or FedEx when shipping to Germany? The difference in price is negligible.
>>
>>6149541
Depends if you have to deal with import duties and such. If not just go for the quickest if the price difference isn't a factor.
I've found EMS to be great when shipping to Europe.
>>
>>6149548
Yeah, I'll likely have to pay import fees but only SAL ever slipped through if I rememver right. Sal isn't an option though.
>>
>>6149551
Not sure on how it is in Germany but EMS has always being a parcel type that gets caught for fees. Quick to arrive but sadly always resulted in some form of fees.
Maybe you can find some information how fees via Fed Ex shipping to Germany are, could be a lot cheaper.
>>
>>6149558
Just went for EMS. Apparently FedEx slaps a bullshit fee on top for handling customs in addition to the actual custom fees. Also doesn't seem like FedEx packages get through without being hit with a fee more often.

when I worked with licensing, granted with WB, they don't always get first picks as a client. Basically you might wnat Jim Lee Batman but what we've got to offer is Batman style-guide/likeness from another series or artist and it's close enough... that you can do the same face type as Jim Lee Batman but you'll have to make sure the costume details are closer to the style guide you paid for and are tied down to in the contract. We also gave preference to certain clients depending on how well the higher ups know about their companies... so it's very possible that Kaiyodo, as a more niche figure company didn't get first picks from Disney/Marvel. You'd also be surprised how many people have the rights and sit on them and just never do them.

Things like teaser images aren't as strictly controlled so that might be why they posted the MvC Venom/regular Venom costume... but came out with this Venom.

I can't imagine it being preference or a QC error, because Kaiyodo have always been good with paintjob, literally two white squares on the back of the hand can't be that expensive or hard... Which is what I'll be doing later, borrowing my gunpla friend's airbrush... so really, the only reason must be licensing.

Just look at their sci-fi line, MGS, even the Monster Hunter figures that Yamaguchi did, paint details have never really been a problem with them.
>>
>>6150052
Ultimate venom has a much cooler design than mainstream venom, mostly because it's not just a big burly dude in spidey's black suit.
>>
>>6150397
I am/was big into Ultimate Marvel. Does he eventually get the white symbol? What about the squares on his hands?
>>
>>6150036
Venom is a little unstable when the symbiote gets particularly annoyed with Peter's reluctance.

Carnage is REALLY unstable, which is why I hope Yamaguchi does him. His style and engineering will really help bring out Carnage's character.

Sorry for not liking an ugly design for a character that's a shitty representation of said character. Guess it comes from actually reading the comics these characters are in.
>>
>>6150604
There are so few actual decent figures of any Venom at all. I think it's okay to be a little peeved that they went with the shitty Venom when the best figure of classic Venom is a fucking Marvel Legends.
>>
>>6150631

Well, why are you so upset and rustling your own jimmies in this thread? There's the Marvel Legends ver or the Select ver. It's really not such an unpopular character that it won't get figures from other lines, especially further down in the future

Honestly I'm not so bothered by the fact that it's Ultimate Venom as I am by how terrible it looks. It's entirely overdone, with details exaggerated to the point where they just look stupid.

It's basically the equivalent of this.
>>
>>6150720
I hear you, but well... this is Kaiyodo and they haven't made the claim for this particular line to be the definitive comic ver, or even which specific comic ver. I saw the Legends ver in store and while the head is decent the body sculpt just... really looks poor to me, even if what I wanted is closer to the Larsen ver where the jaw of this revo one isn't so bad but the wavy texture is a bit much for me. Either way, I like revoltechs and I like Venom... and I don't mind this too much so I pre-ordered. Wait around for the Venom figure you want but I don't think it'll be from Kaiyodo... if what you want is his first appearance with the neater row of teeth and slimmer head.
>>
>>6150724
>if what you want is his first appearance with the neater row of teeth and slimmer head.

HULK REVO WHEN
>>
>>6150617
Calf is a revolver joint, the upper thigh is the swivel.
>>
>>6150616
Both. Revos and really any figure line gets a number of "doesn't look like the source material!" with stuff that has a manga and or anime, or just a movie. Now we have all those super heroes and villains drawn differently by hundreds of artists over decades of different periods, and throw in some games and cartoons why not. Plus There's the fans who reads a decent amount of them who thinks he is better than the newcomers or other fans and finds it necessary to spread his wisdom of which version is the best version that must be reborn in figure form. It's just a recipe of endless and pointless yammering.

Also anons who got here just because of the Marvel Revos don't seem to understand Yamaguchi does his own thing and not try to accurately recreate some comic panel with his sculpts.

Revoltech Raiden, Venom Snake, whole Basara cast, Monster Hunter speak otherwise. It's a matter of how well his style matches with the game/comic/show or even one specific character out of a show. Keep being angry though...

>paid for Spidey this morning

It's happening, fuck yes. Got a Legends Carnage and Venom in anticipation. Not bad figures, I was honestly a bit surprised.
>>
>>6150939
If the scale wasn't so big and they can bring it down to Revo Spidey's level with the articulated fingers I'll go for this. https://youtu.be/TBd5dF2KBsA
>>
I think the eventual movie Spidey SHF will be solid if they gave half a thought into articulation and conjure some creativity with the neck, torso and hips. Although many don't care for the movie costumes I suppose.

I think the ideal comic book Spider-Man would be a figma one based off of the Archetype He body. It has a similar type of body proportions and already capable of getting some Spidey poses.

>>6151277
That's exactly the kind of action figure I pictured when I wrote >>6150996 but this one doesn't look so bad, I guess the webs hides the joints well.
>>
>>6151277

I mean that's a cool figure and is probably the literal "most articulated" but I used to have one a few years ago and it actually can't really do a lot of the poses that the Revoltech pulls off, which is I guess to say that the Revoltech is the "most poseable" which is sort of semantically different

The figure that I think probably comes the closest to the Revoltech in terms of ability to do Spider-Man poses is the Figma, but it's a shit rendition of an already shit movie design so it's unfortunately fucking hideous

I hope we're in agreement that Ryu fucking needs his Falcon Talons for those kickass karate poses and dueling the inevitable Wolverine.

Though the tonfas and kusari-gama would be stylish, too. And the Vigoorian Flail. Actually most of his weapons would be excellent, and he has a shit ton.

He'd also do well with blood splatter effect parts.

Can't find anything on this. Could you elaborate?

As for spidey - mine's sitting at Tokyo's outward office of exchange and I'm actually a bit worried I won't like him (as much). He DOES look weird at times and the sculpt is (almost) too broken up in places like the shoulders and knees. Maybe this can be solved with single joints for the shoulders or just good posing in general, we'll see.

Yeah, I'm hoping for the best but I'm also kind of not expecting too much. Deadpool was pretty good, but it looks like spider-man's got all the same problems I had with him, and maybe even cranked up a bit. At least I'll have a spider-man toy that'll have the leg range to do stuff like pic related convincingly.

Also what the hell is up with the symbol on his back? That's gotta be one of the easiest things to get right, but it's way off.
>>
>>6152647
I thought you were talking about some PM from the 80's haha. Anime about old Japan, got it.

Sense of fashion through out history of any culture is strange. Upper class usually likes to do stuff that is a hassle to maintain.

And there is practical reasons to why they shave the top of the head, like wearing crowns then to helmets. Eventually it just seemed more clean to shave than to just outgrow your hair like a filthy peasant. I doubt it had much to do with balding.

>>

I wonder if that's because X character should have never gotten a figure so now is the only chance so everyone jumps at it compared to main character who is likely to get a figure again so just wait for it.
Such as Ryu, people might pass up the Figuart because there will be another Ryu figure down the line from someone else, but if Bandai was to do some obscure SF figure a lot of people might bite because this won't happen again.
>>
>>6153077

Well, I was referring to videogames more than figures in this case.

You know, shit like Mass Effect or Dragons Age becoming these monster selling titles when the games were pretty goddamn piss poor and definitely didn't deserve sequels, but they sold gangbusters. Meanwhile actual efforts by good dev's, like say, Dragons Crown, sold like ass.
>>
>>6152795

>>
>>6153117

Yeah I'm much more interested in design than the quality of the game from a toy collecting perspective. I'm sure companies only look at how many games were sold to decide whether or not to make toys.

>>
>>6153450
I really wish yamaguchi'd go back to the regular sized revoljoints for shoulders, like with vash.
>>
>>6153443
Less use of conventional Revolver joints, the joints them selves has more ratchets, and the figures tends to be larger in general. Although Vash was pretty big already. Hips could be a normal ball joint, but with Venom it's old school swivel only. Joints that were used in the Minis, the non-ratchet ones, are being used here and there.

>>6153457
That second point of articulation really comes in handy getting a full range out of the shoulders. Using the Mini joints that has the ball joint end is the better way to go, unless it holds big weapons.

>>
>>6154082
I'm very interested in how his legs work. Almost seems like the knee being 'off' is due to how the articulation works and the lower leg articulation is there to align it properly with the knee.
>>
I don't like Deadpool as a character design as much as Spider-Man but the revo sculpt for Deadpool is definitely much better. I'm kind of torn on this but I'm skipping Spider-Man and will just be getting Venom. I don't mind the interpretation for Venom, though it's not entirely accurate, just because of how bulky he is and that head sculpt. That review really made Spider-Man a lot more tempting though.
>>
>>6154050
There are still things I don't like about it in terms of looking really weird as hell in certain angels but I noticed it's basically sold out everywhere. Mine is going to be about $50 shipped so...I doubt i'll ever get that good of a price again. Eye plates look fun, love the paint/sculpt/finish on him and most of his weirdness can be posed away.

I'd still be happier if he cost $40 or something. Toy prices have went up so much it makes it harder for me to enjoy things in terms of value.
>>
>>6154087
You'll be full of regret. I'm sorry anon.

>>
>>6150401
In the comics he doesn't, but he was shown with the symbol on cover art.

In the USM video game he gets the symbol towards the end as Eddie gains complete control of the suit.
>>
Think I am going to cancel my Spidey so keep your eye out for a couple to pop up on HLJ. Partly for the obvious reasons of it looking annoying to pose, partly because it needs to be displayed at very specific angles to hide ugly joints, partly because the price and finally because my distaste for Marvel is at an all time high.

I just can't generate the feelings of nostalgia and love I should be able to because of their bullshit. If this had come out 3-4 years ago it would have been a no brainer instant purchase for me but Marvel has achieved the impossible by actually making me dislike things I love due to their nonsense. It sucks.
>>
>>6154305
Holy shit. Hope they take their time with this. My wallet can't take it. I think it might actually look better if most of the suit is black and uniform black joints are used in addition.
>>6154412
Nice trivia, thanks.
>>6154500
Idn't you get a payment request yet?

>I just can't generate the feelings of nostalgia and love I should be able to because of their bullshit.
That sounds incredibly weird. You don't have to?
>bullshit
What bullshit?
>>
>>6154530
Yeah I did but you can still cancel after the payment request. You can even cancel within 10 days of it being in your Private Warehouse (it starts counting from the moment they sent a payment request) and they will give you store credit or something like that.

I don't really want to derail the thread with my reasoning behind disliking Marvel. It's feelings that have been brewing for a while really but it can basically be summed up by:
-in the 90's they almost went bankrupt because too many cross-overs, variant covers and other dumb practices
-they got bailed out by selling movie rights and threw away the chance to do better, making same mistakes again and worse
-they rip off people who work for them by either refusing to give royalties or honor royalties (Stan Lee had to sue them and ended up losing) which is why the quality is also going downhill
-they currently employ a bunch of extremely arrogant douches who are dismissive/insulting toward long time fans and opinions of said long time fans
-they subsidize preachy tumblr-tier comics that get overly political with movie profits even though many other comics have been cancelled for selling so low
-they keep killing off or replacing heroes I grew up with
-they overship (send free copies to retailers) to manipulate sales numbers for unpopular comics so they appear higher on sales charts than they really are and raise prices to pretend like they own more market share than they do. All so so they can keep up the farce that their unpopular policies/decisions are effective. The same ones they are treating old fans like dirt to defend.

There is way way more...but that's enough really. Disloyalty to the fans is pretty much the most egregious sin an entertainment company can make in my opinion. Being arrogant about it too is just a special kind of stupid.
>>
>Panicking back when Deadpool was banned
>Order him off an ebay auto parts store
>Knee joints are defected; can't tell if it's bootlegging or a factory defect

Do they even still make replacement joints? I know they did years ago, back when the joints had fewer ratchets.
Or would it be better to just get a second DP?
I'm leaning towards the latter since I figure I can cannibalize the first for spare parts, maybe give the new one Asura arms.
>>
>>6155020
I think it's worth having a second Deadpool, but If you need another joint like that just get some Assemble Borgs. They all come with some extra joints except for 4mm. Nexus ones would have the new increased ratchets joints.

There are joints sometimes that have a cracked or bent piece messing up the tension of the ratchets. If bent you can sort of fix it by taking the joint apart and bending it back by heat.
>>
>>6155252
I'll probably just grab a second one, in that case. It can't hurt to have spare pieces and weapons, and the extra arms will satisfy my Asura fetish.
>>
How's the revoltech gurren lagann? I can't decide if I want it or the chogokin.
>>
>>6155020
I wouldn't mind buying extra revoltechs just because of their customisability
>>
>>6155399
I personally love the sculpt, reminds me of Gainax' sometimes loose style for the anime but the material or the paint itself unfortunately is prone to that leaky sticky plastic feel over time. I don't know why this is the case because I own a lot of revoltechs and my gurren lagann ones are the only ones that are this way, not my EVA, Takeya, MGS or any other revoltechs. Even my Jin-Roh/Kerberos is still in good condition, but only my Lazengann and Gurren Lagann are suffering from that.

I think I say this every time somebody asks about him, but for the love of god, watch out with his swords. The part that connects the blade to the hilt is a super thin piece of transparent plastic and it's fragile as hell. Also be careful about leaving his deagles in his hands for too long, they're thicker than the sword hilts and will loosen his grip.
>>
>>6156478
Generic Korean mobage designs, great. Kaiyodo barely releases anything that's not westaboo shit these days so I doubt we'll see a revival of QB Revoltechs even if this reboot goes well. They didn't do any for Grimoire. And Union Creative seems to be letting Vulcanlog fizzle out after no one bought their $80 baseball man recolors and flimsy robots. Maybe someone else will pick up the torch.

>>6156530
Did you even watch it? There were guys. Nowa almost got raped. If there's a male MC it just turns into another terrible harem anime anyway, go watch Vanadis and see if you still want Queen's Blade with guys in it.

Fuck. First time I've ever had a stand break on me, and this one is a fairly unique one that I can't just replace with any other stand since the it was the bar that holds all of his wings that broke.

What would you guys recommend to fix this? Superglue might not be enough, since the wings kind of weigh a lot. Only other glue I have here is Gorilla Glue.

He means there is nothing with a release date. Union doesn't have the same momentum as they did initially while they keep making more and more statues. Not to mention some that were revealed silently disappeared.

I think they overestimated the sales of Vulcanlogs and needs time to make some changes to their plans. If WF doesn't show painted versions of like all the TBA list or mention some never before seen ones it's likely we wont get so many releases this year and who knows for 2018.
>>
>>6156893
I really hope we see Beat this year.

I'd like more Yu-Gi-Oh Vulcanlogs, but they seem to be shelf-warming hard so that's a damn shame.
>>
>>6156904
It doesn't help the figma of Yugi and Kaiba are their competition even if the designs are different. I think they should've banked on doing more known monsters on top of the movie. I would nut for a classic Blue Eyes or Purple Dark Magician.
>>
>>6156934
Konami might have strong armed them into only doing strictly movie versions. They are stupid enough to not see that adding nostalgia would have sold it to two different audiances, the current fans who don't give a shit what form it is in, and the old fans who want a peice of their childhood.

Same, I like the 6" one we got but the fatigues were definitely my preferred outfit. It's actually kind of surprising they didn't do it the other way around, so they could have done a desert camo recolor of the more expensive one.
>>
>>6157585
It was a strange transition period where the CEO was pushing for the RevolMini and then the distributor came and said if you're not making Revoltechs let us do it. There were so many thinking the Sneaking Suit was a Mini...really annoying. Ultron's size was sort of unclear if they were keeping it in scale with Minis ending up in a weird middle ground.

I think by the time UC brought the idea the Mini Snake was already good to go so they pick another look.

While the fatigues may've been nice, I think I prefer the stealth suit we got.
But that's because it's the closest we'll get to Snake's MGS1 outfit in this scale.

That being said I hope that when, and IF, we get a new Snake figure of any kind I do hope it's in fatigues. Having all of them in their stealth gear is a little boring.

The shape and look of his head is reall offputting from most angles. Everything about the thighs, too.

He'll be great for certain angles and poses, but not really an all around.
>>
>>6157896
The head is shaped like a fucking balloon, and the neck is slightly too long. This was an issue one Deadpool as well but wasn't as noticeable. I wouldn't mind the thighs being so muscular if the arms were in proportion as well, but they're so skinny that it makes the thighs look out of place.

Accurate in the sense that it's a figure of Spiderman in his usual costume.
It's clearly done in the typical Yamaguchi style, same with Venom. He probably flicked through some comics and took cues from panels he liked but lets not go as far as to say it's accurate to a specific thing.

I've been trying to figure out exactly what's bugging me about spider-man, and I've pretty much narrowed it down to the hips. They're antiquated, convoluted garbage. The ones on spider-man are just a straight up cut swivel, and they're needed to actually bring his legs straight forward. So basically, you end up having to twist his thighs at the hip 90 degrees, and then his calves at the knee 90 degrees back just to do a sitting position. It works exactly like the MP eva's legs, if you're familiar with that.

Of all the things to go back to, cut joints were the worst idea possible especially right after nailing it on deadpool. I have a ton of revoltechs and this is probably the most frustrating one just because of those fucking hips. Fuck.
>>
>>6158440
Well he is right.
>>
>>6158321
I'm confused why they tried to reinvent the wheel with the webbing by having it attach to his hand rather than just slide over the wrist peg like others have done.
>>
>>6158570
Guess it allows for more directional webbing instead of spinning loosely around the wrist only pointing in one direction.
>>
>>6158239
I don't see any other way and keeping the insane range of motion.
>>
>>6158509
I never found older hips to be way worse than other revo hips. In fact they're sometimes better. Ultron's hips are quite a bitch to deal with sometimes.
>>
>>6158570
It's sort of a good idea, visually, but I'm very worried about breakage. It's basically just clear plastic painted white. Putting them in was worrying, if he takes a shelf dive they're 100% the first thing to snap.
>>
>>6158509
I'm pretty sure the hip part of the joint is just like Deadpool as in its a ball joint and then the thighs are swivels.
You can see the ball joint right here >>6158413
I think the issue maybe the orientation of the swivel since deadpool's were just horizontal while spidey has angled cuts.
>>
>>6158593
It's one of those things where it was ok because that's how things were, but man, going back is rough. I didn't like ultron's either, which is why I was so happy deadpool was basically perfect, I figured we were finally done with bad hips.

>>6158653
Deadpool had regular balljoints for hips, but he didn't have swivels below them, they were another set of balljoints. And even then, spider-man's are far more limited than deadpool's main pair at the hips, they go pretty far out but only about 15 degrees or so forward without the swivel. It's just a really weird choice.
>>
>>6158693
Deadpool's design lent better for putting those joint in the thighs since it worked with the straps, spidey doesn't really have that option to hide joints like that. Once I get mine on thursday I'll better be able to judge the figure.
>>
>>6158693
How does Spider-Man's range compare to Deadpool's though?

>>6158702
>>6158719
Like I said, even ignoring the thigh swivels/balljoints, spidey's hips are nearly useless compared to deadpool's, pic related is as far as they can both kick forward. I tried to center deadpool's thigh joint to keep it even, and spider-man starts going outwards FAST if you take it past where it is there.

>Once I get mine on thursday I'll better be able to judge the figure.
I'm very interested to see what the consensus is once more people have him. I really want to know if I'm just taking crazy pills on this one.

>>

I just wanna clarify, that's only using the actual balljoint at the hips. If you use the cut you can get better than 90 degrees straight forwards easily, buuuut that's kind of my problem.
>>
>>6158579
It doesn't seem to work at all for shooting poses. For ones where he is gripping webs it makes sense, but the floating web shot for the spraying pieces is odd looking.
