"Ultimate Henrietta or AvED Henrietta?" Edition

>Ultimate Henrietta
How would that work? Ultimate usually indicates that it comes with more accessories. Also im pretty sure Randy said they weren't doing another one. So it must be AvED
>>
>>6144168
Yeah, it's vs. Evil Dead Henrietta. I'm surprised they're going through the trouble of sculpting the new CGI/puppet head. But good on 'em. I imagine the body will be the same...but hey, maybe they're completely redoing her.

...With titty milk action...

Randy said it's not human, so either another Xeno or an artificial person.

Are the Predator movies worth watching? I'd ask /tv/, but I don't want to get cancer.
>>
>>6144422
Of course they are

What a dumb fucking question
>>
>>6144422
first one is pretty great, classic action film
second one is kinda meh for me
predators is above average, certainly better than the avp movies
>>
>>6144425
What a dumb fucking response

>>6144422
Only One and Two. The rest are fucking dumb
>>
>>6144422
Yes, the first and second ones, the third i don't care for that much, but certainly isn't bad either, AvP and AvP:R arevery silly and only worth for a few fight scenes and if you are reeally into aliens and predators.
>>
>>6144422

Predator 2's awesome, and my personal favorite. Predator 1 is a classic though, you can't really beat it.

The AvP movies are dumb B-movies that I really enjoy despite their flaws.

And Predators feels like it's out of place, but still has some fun moments to it.

So yeah, have a movie night, you won't regret it. The first one's classic Ah-nuld, anyway, you really can't hate that.

Funny that you're fucking retarded and don't know what you're talking about.
>>
>>6144453

Well, no, he's pretty right. The AvP figures have been fantastic and a welcomed addition. I kind of hope it gives people a reason to go easier on hatin' AvP. Flaws that it has n'all...

I remember when everyone was haaaaaaating the hell out of the "t-rex queen."
>>
>>6144429
Oh yeah, "Predator movies are worth watching" is such a wild sentiment
>>
>>6144453
AVP figures are the best and based on the worst movies. Literally everyone on the planet agrees with this. Even your dead granny agrees. Shut up.
>>
>>6144453
No he's right. The AvP films arent good. The first one is almost good but falls short.

The second one is a fucking slasher flick starring the scooby gang that is so dark at times you think your TV is shotting the bed.
>>
So I'm looking to finally dip into the NECA Predator and Alien figures. Trying to keep it strictly to Kenner based figures though. Here's my list:

Mantis Alien
Gorilla Alien
Predator Blade Fighter
Stalker Predator
Renegade Predator
Clan Leader Predator

I was also thinking about MAYBE getting Kenner Ripley and a few of the Aliens Marines. Anything I should know about any of these figures? First foray into Aliens/Predator stuff.
>>
>>6144422
Ha I literally just finished watching all of them to celebrate my gf ordering my first predator to go with my many aliens

I'd personally rank the movies ... Just my opinions btw don't get all butt hurt... I'd rank them
Predator
Predators
Avp1
Avp2 (both rank the same but for plot of course watch the first first)
Predator 2

Ironically the predator I'm getting is the ultimate city hunter from predator 2
>>
>>6144565
Get a stand for your mantis when you get it they aren't know for their standing ability ... And the tail isn't articulated
>>
>>6144736
I agree with this list, except I'd swap AvP2 with AvP1. Reason being that AvP2 has better action scenes, the Predalien was cool, and it really didn't take itself too seriously like AvP1 did.

Also, I've always thought Predator 2 was garbage. Predators, though, was surprisingly good.
>>
>>6144472
>>6144473
I can't wait to see how NECA upgrades Wolf. Dude is by far may favorite cinema Pred.
>>
>>6144778
Oh I'd agree just that avp 2 picks up right after avp 1 so that's the only reason I'd suggest watching it first ... Not that it honestly matters too much, only if you've never seen them.

I remember liking predator 2 as a kid ... As an adult I thought it was laughable ... And the predator to me seemed more like a serial killer tormenting a target than a hunter tracking prey
>>
>>6144322

Here's a pic I took recently. He's my first Pred ever. They're quite larger than I was expecting. I plan on picking up the Ultimate Jungle Hunter whenever that gets released and I think I'm done with the line. While awesome looking, I'm not the biggest Predator fan and all of them look kind of samey to me.

This is a pretty easy fix, right? Just find something about the same thickness of the peg and I guess glue the ends?
>>
>>6144862

I wouldn't glue anything just in case something gets stuck in place.
>>
>>6144865
Well, something just to make sure it doesn't fall out. I think finding a replacement peg is the hard part, I don't have any customizing stuff like that on hand.
>>
>>6144861
Me too but I'm interested in the kenner preds they look unique
>>
>>6144868
Get a styrene rod at a hobby/craft store. Piece of sprue from a model kit.Tiny bit of wood doweling or brass rod from a hardware store.
I'm sure you have something on hand you can use, you just need to use your brain and think.
>>
>>6144472
I don't agree at all.
AvP is better than Avp2, Predators, and Prometheus by a quite a bit in that I can actually WATCH AvP and not want to die.
>>
>>6144736
I feel Pred 2 would be better if it didnt cut away from the fights/kills. The two that pop to mind are the alley shaman and the subway scene.
>>
>>6144963
Yeah, it'd probably be BETTER if it didn't cut away, but let's face it, that wouldn't fix the myriad of problems that film has. It's good for a laugh, but as a serious entry into the Predator mythos, not so much.

It kills me, because on paper, it sounds amazing--a hunt through the urban jungle of late 90's Los Angeles amidst a background of gang warfare. The hunter becoming the hunted. The appearance of the rest of the clan. Mike being acknowledged by the clan leader and the hints to their history of hunting of earth (the gift of the flintlock pistol). All of these things sound AWESOME. It's a shame the movie is dragged down by some shit writing, unintentionally goofy/cheesy scenes, and bad pacing.

>Piece of sprue from a model kit.
Oh shit, I forgot I built a gundam kit a couple years ago, but I guess I kept the box. Good looking out, the apocalypse is canceled again.

The funny part is I was expecting breakage out of the box, just not the hip. The elbow joint's had a crack in it since I opened it up, so I guess I've still got that to look forward to.
>>
>>6144981
>unintentionally goofy/cheesy scenes

But that's why it's awesome.
>>
>>6144843
>>6144778
>>6144736
Speaking of AvP2, is there any version of that movie that isn't so damn dark that I literally can't see what's going on more than half the time?

I think I'd like the movie much more if it wasn't a radio show.
>>
>>6145278
Not that I'm aware of ... Some one told them that horror movies are dark and they took it to heart
>>
>>6145325
Ugh.
I can actually see things in the trailer, so the movie was lit, it was done in post. It's just I think the predalien looks cool and I'm sure the action scenes have cool things in them, but all I'm seeing is darkness and oblivion.

At least I can see the monsters fighting in AvP.
>>
>>6145216
Well, that's why I said it's good for a laugh. I don't hate it by any means, it's fun to watch. But as a followup to the masterpiece that was Predator, it's a failure to me. Predator was remarkably restrained and took itself rather seriously without falling into self-parody. Pred 2 TRIES to take itself seriously, but just can't quite seem to nail the right tone.

Mine is the older version, i like it very much but upper articulation is rather limited, i do have the Ghost Predator which uses the new articulation, it's pretty damn nice to pose!
The classic loin-cloth does get in the way a bit, but City Hunter doesn't have it so there's that.
Thanks dude, i admit i took better pics in the past, but recently i don't have as much time to spend posing them etc.

Aaaand Vasquez is complete. I'm starting to enjoy these water decals...
>>
>>6146130
Im a fucking idiot. How do you apply them.
>>
>>6144422
Watch the first one, and then AVP. This series sucks.
>>
>>6146846

Cut the paper in two (there's two decals on each square they sent me), so you have only a little rectangle, then you pour just a little water onto a plate, just enough so that you can submerge the little piece. I recommend getting a toothpick to help hold it under the little beads of water.

Let it soak for like...a mintute. Then, what I did, while the figure was holding the weapon, hold the rectangle over the right spot, and gently use the toothpick to slide the decal down onto the gun.

It helps to wipe the spot with water (either use a tiny piece of wet paper towel or a q-tip) just to make sure it's moist and clean of dust, either way, the decal should stay moist enough long enough that you can gently nudge it right into place with the toothpick. It should stick and dry not long after that.
>>
>>6146130
>>6146990
Is it safe to just leave waterslides like that, uncoated? I ask because I put some waterslides on a kit recently, and long after they had dried, I had to put a little pressure on a part to push it together and it looks like the waterslide scrunched up a bit. I got paranoid so I topcoated it to protect it...
>>
>>6146995

When I was putting the decals on the Weyland commando, the video I watched to get a feel for how these things worked did say you could put a coat of something on to further protect and seal it. But that was for a model plane, so...yeah, if you wanted to do that, I don't think it'd hurt anything.

Thankfully I haven't had to scrunch anything, I've just used a toothpick to gently prod things into place and let them dry.
>>

I remember you saying before but where where did you get that ?
>>
>>6145278

Why won't NECA move forward and do 90s-present stuff like Independence Day Men In Black, Starship Troopers, Small Soldiers, and The Matrix?

It has literally nothing to do with it. How would it? Someone's skills may improve over time, but that doesn't mean someone more talented wouldn't have done a better job earlier. I just remembered some of the other heads like some of the battle damaged ones, and they looked better than this head too. They're old too. Time is irrelevant.

This is my new favorite predator from them. The wrist computer has a little metal piece so that it can open, I guess mine came unglued but after I glue it back on it will be perfect. Crouches pretty good, if they had given it joints in the feet so that the toes bend I think it would have been able to pull off the crouching pose from the movie. The ab cut is pretty useless for forward movement so it's weird that they included that. Great figure regardless
>>
>>615261 The actual identifiable preds in each movie. Like how many were in 2 in the ship?

Example would be:
1 has the Jungle hunter.

Randy is pretty anal about 'cashing in' on celebrity deaths, like when Bowie died he said there's no chance they'll ever re-release any Labyrinth figures for people who missed out on them. So if anything there's even less chance of us getting a Kane figure now.

I would have loved a Kane figure in his white outfit from the 'birth' scene. One normal head, one screaming in pain head. One normal chest piece, one chestburster emerging piece (similar to the ultimate T-1000 figure). Bowl of food for an accessory.

All we can do is hope and pray Neca finds a way to make this happen.

There is a way to fix this yourself if NECA CS doesn't help. It's a pain and not necessarily guaranteed, but you'll need a thin screw and a dremmel. You'll essentially be trying to replace the peg with the screw.

Here's an example using an older Predator that snapped seconds after opening the figure. The xeno's joint might be a little smaller, but you should get an idea of what you're trying to do.

Essentially, cut the head of the screw and drill small holes in both joints. You'll screw the screw into one of them - In this case I went with the upper arm, since you'll be gluing it in and you don't want to lock the joint. Do test fits and trim the screw as necessary. Once done, glue the screw into the joint and let it sit over night. Then, screw the lower arm onto the screw and, if done right, you should have a working joint again.
>>

>>
>>6152831
Nothing, there is a version of every on screen Pred from the films, although some like Wolf are literally from when AVPR came out originally so he needs a new one
>>
So, a few of my preds like renegade have issues with their hands. Seemingly the balljoint can't fit properly inside the hand, leaving them loose and prone to fall at the slightest touch. Any idea on how I could fix it?
>>
>>6154287

You could use some boiling water to heat up the hand and pop it on, do some squeezing and it CAN help form it around the joint better.

Another option that I've used a couple times, use some Elmer's glue, put a little bit in the inside of the hand, use a toothpick to smear it around and let it dry. Kind of keep working the glue around the whole inside so it creates a layer. One is normally enough, but you may have to do two or three, depending. That'll create a nice bit of friction and tighten it up.
>>
>>6154287
a little coat of future shine or nail polish on the ball could do the trick

Yeah, it would kinda work better if someone like Diamond Select did IPs like MIB and Matrix. They would allow for more articulation and interchangeable hands, and maybe for Matrix a buildable lobby.

We probably wouldn't get stuff like the true forms of Edgar and Serleena though, or a sentinel.
>>
Now that the dust has settled and we agree the Kenner Aliens were a miss, how do they improve before the next Kenner wave?

>the Kenner Aliens were a miss
How were they a miss? I got the Gorilla and Mantis Alien and they're both great figures. What exactly didn't you like about them?

My only issue with the wave is that I had WAY too much trouble actually finding the figures in stores (ended up getting them from Amazon), and I wish they had done another "proper" alien from the Kenner line instead of the Queen Facehugger (personally preference there).

From my own experience with the figures, and pretty much all the reviews, everyone loves them. Not sure what you didn't like, but we probably won't get anything outlandish like the Mantis or Gorilla in the next wave because I'm pretty sure it's going to be a generic blue alien, a generic soldier, and some mystery figure who's head doesn't look like ANY of the Kenner aliens. I'm hoping it's the Scorpion Alien or even the Panther Alien (they could probably reuse a bunch of parts from the Dog Alien for this), but it really doesn't look like either.
>>
>>6157441

Either you're trolling, too poor to have bought them, or you're just plain retarded. The Kenner Aliens were an incredible start to things.
>>
>>6144304
I bet on the yellow AvP:R Xeno Warrior that they showed in their kenner diorama.
It was already made and they will be releasing the blue Xeno in the same wave and the pink on it's on soon so it only makes sense.
>>
>>6157441
>we agree the Kenner Aliens were a miss
Aside from some people breaking the tail off their Mantis, or having it broken in-package, I've heard mostly good things about the Mantis and Gorilla.
>>
>>6157441
>we
Nope, they are pretty good.
>>
>>6157831
Why not? They did showed the AvP:R alien in yellow first.
>>
>>6157831
>QC issues out the ass, and the paint was really low quality and spotty
Yeah, obviously. They're NECA toys. That doesn't mean they're any more a miss than anything else.
>>
>>6157831
Well, it's fine that we have different opinions.
What Kenner Xeno do you want to see next?
>>
>>6157845
We've seen the dog and AvP xenos though. We know NECA is capable of good work. We should be holding them to that standard. The Kenner xenos are a cool design, but final result was McFarlane-tier.

>>6157871
The alien king. Randy says no, but he's said no to a lot of things that he later said yes to.
>>
>>6157844
I'm not saying you are wrong, I just think its odd. Maybe they think the yellow stands a better chance at selling if its the first time people can get their hands on the new sculpt?
>>
>>6158011
It wouldn't be the first time a toy company released the "repaint" before the original.

Hell NECA basically just did it themselves with the last Predator wave.
>>
>>6154302
>>6154298
Worked like a charm, thanks!
>>
>>6157831
>Why would they release the yellow AVP:R alien before the normal AVP:R alien?

Probably the same reason they would release Kenner Predators on the Ultimate Predator bodies before the Ultimate Preds themselves.
>>
>>6157879
>The Kenner xenos are a cool design, but final result was McFarlane-tier.
I personally didn't have any QC issues, but I'm not going to doubt that you did. I hear a lot about NECA QC issues in general, so the fact that you got two duds doesn't really shock me. I've only had one NECA figure with shoddy QC (PacRim Romeo Blue). All my other NECA figures are pretty great.

>>6157871
>What Kenner Xeno do you want to see next
Too many to name. I'm hoping we at least get the Bull Alien, Panther Alien, Snake Alien, Scorpion Alien, and Flying Queen. I also have a glimmer of hope that we may get A.T.A.X. since we did get the Predator Blade Fighter last year.
>>
>>6148730
Not yet, at least

I love them but my first mantis had a broken waist ball socket so he flopped around like a fish and the replacement has a crooked tail.

I'd say the mantis is a bit fragile but that happens with this type of plastic. I snapped the tail right off mine, but shit super glued it back on and it's fine. I love mine and now that I have a stand for the mantis he is down right impressive as to how height and presence.

Just came in! My first predator! I can't wait to get him out, play around with him, get him into an awesome pose and get him on the shelf. I am sure I'm going to have him spearing the dog and shooting at the mantis Vasquez is shooting .... This shelf is the shelf where the non xenos are winning ... It has all the main players, xenos, an engineer, a marine, and now a yautja!!!
>>
>>6159166
Looks like your Ripley's in trouble down there.

Reading a bunch of reports that the gauntlet computer hinge on Ultimate City Hunter was poorly designed and leading to breakage in package. Anyone have a good picture of it to see where it went wrong?
>>
>>6159623
no pics but I came across this

> The set of hinges on the flap side are actually oval in shape. It's fine when closed, but when you open the flap the oval shape hinge pushes on the bottom and lifts the entire flap upwards, putting stress on the hinge and breaking it
>>
>>6159645
>>6159623
Source on that? honestly curious.
>>
>>6159623
Wow I thought it was just me. Mine broke off soon out after I took him out of the package. Returned him for a new one. Good to know it's not just my ham hands.

This really makes me want to upgrade from my original City Hunter, but i promissed to keep my Predator collection to a minimum to save some money... That articulation looks a lot fun!
>>
>>6159977
It'd have to be at least somewhat different on the QS to accommodate the removable sunglasses. That's obvious common sense stuff.
>>
>>6159986

Yeah man, if you're trying to keep things to a minimum like that, you aren't going to miss much by not getting it. Unless you sold your old one or something...the new one DOES have a nice hook on the back that lets you store the spine and skull or the spear, though, for what that's worth.
>>
>>6159990

Adding sunglasses doesn't change a sculpt, dude. Unless they peg into the side of the head, in which case that's not going to change the shape of the face.
>>
>>6159992
>Adding sunglasses doesn't change a sculpt, dude.

No, you'd change the sculpt to accommodate the sunglasses. If you just slapped them onto the head as is they'd fit poorly. It wouldn't mean they'd have to change the rest of the proportions though, but it does mean slight modifications would be needed for clearance and such. But that still doesn't mean they wouldn't necessarily work on the sculpt further.

People argued that the leg sculpt didn't change between the original release and the Ultimates, since all they'd do is go into the digital files and change basically cut in the new articulation, but anyone can compare the two and see the differences in the folds of the pants and such.

Anyway, pull out the old tiny head. Look at it. There's no room for shades on those ears.

>>
>>6144422
First one is a solid action movie, a classic.

Second one is fun, but suffers from that "sequel gets sillier" thing.

Predators is pretty goddamn cool, feels like a good "back to basics" for the franchise.

AvP movies are pure dogshit, but can be made funny in a schlocky kinda way.
>>
>>6144433
>Predators originally ended with a platoon of Predators dropping on the planet, with the reveal that Dutch is their commander as he compliments the survivors on making it through the hunt
