I haven't built any vans before, though I've plans to make one sometime and I've made a fair amount of 6 wide vehicles.
I guess you might first want to figure out how to make your back door. Whether to use a prefabricated door piece or a brick-built one, as well as figuring out how it should open, then build a frame around that.
Look at other vans and figure out how to make a nice looking shaping of the front.
For the center section I don't imagine it'd be too difficult. Just, you know, build it?
>Build a vehicle in your own desired scale!
At 1:24 minifigs can reach the steering wheel, but not the peddles.
They'd be about a meter tall.
extra gifts!
hmm.

it's an improvement over the TLM cups.
dont expect any lego from mcdonald anymore, it's not the 90s.
Just so that people know, the mighty micro Magneto's head has his regular face on the other side. It's not just a black head with white eyes, much to my disappointment.
Help me /lg/!!!!!
Im looking to build a minifig scale KITT from Knight Rider. Theres hundreds of beautiful ones all over the net, but no fucking instructions, not even a picture breakdown. Bitch is, I could probably reverse engineer a good portion of the outer "armor" and such from a good portion of the pics, but thats about it.
Anyone know of ANY instructions for a KITT? preferably 6+ wide.
>>6134998
What color is the actual head piece?
Went to my local Walmart, only set on "clearance" was the CCBS Jyn Erso for $19. What a joke.
>>6135000
For reference, THIS THING OF BEAUTY is the one id kill to build, but of course, no instructions, no breakdown, not even a shot of the bottom....
>>6135002
Black. It's like this head but with Magneto's face.
>>6134992
I still want to collect them all.
>>6135008
Doesn't look too difficult to replicate, honestly.
Maybe take a look at the Speed Champions cars and see how they build similarly sized cars.
>>6135012
you can buiy them on bricklink, duh.
gave in to another impulse, orange will go nicely with blue
>>6135015
Its like I said, the bitch is, I cant see the bottom of it. Its the problem I run into with a LOT of the cars I see online, I can recreate big chunks of the cars, but without the actual frame, its just a pile of parts.
>>6135010
Oh. Well, in that case, it's just a simple matter of heresy to fix it.
what do i build guys?

Any summer leaks?
>>6134936
That reminds me, I was looking through some japanese brick convention and I saw some amazing minifig cars, but I noticed that all the tires were bent as if they weren't connected and just sitting in the wheel well.
Turns out that's a thing for "cool" cars now.
>>6134999
I got my Titan Mech Battle for about $30 from Walmart, must have been August or September. I think they're gone from all the stores in the area.
I'll keep an eye out on the other two. locally there are a few Chaos Chariots for ~$21, and they had Jestro's Evil Mobile for $30, but I slept on it too long.
>>6135080
I forgot, Is this on all walmarts or only in the state you are?
>>6135065
The Japanese have a funky taste in cars.
I'm reading through the archives of this Japanese lego car blog and half of the builds are blowing me away and the other half are blowing me away at how weird the cars are.
Different strokes, different folks, etc.
Thoughts?
>>6135092
Cute!
>>6135092

>>6135082
Walmarts are largely autonomous on when they do markdowns on LEGO, in my experience. YMMV.

If not i might search them just for that neat face-mouth brick!

Creeped me the fuck out.
Few threads back an anon wanted to make a lego pirate flag into a real 3x5 and some other anon helped by making the image large enough to do that. Has anyone ever seen the Viking one around in a good size where I could do the same? Thanks!
>>6135036
The Star Scavenger looks the most swooshable and re-buildable.

>not fondling them like a animu pillow

>>6135159
how is the arkham set?
It looks kind of lame as an Arkham Asylum but sometimes the pictures are deceiving
>>6135195
I haven't gotten around to finishing it, I only got the front part done but I really like it. It's a lot bigger than I expected. However it's more of a jail and less of an asylum, but it's built in a way where you can easily add or modify it. My complaints are that it doesn't have a lot of "Arkham-y" things to it like gargoyles, the iconic fence or the gothic style to it. If you want a true-to-the-source Arkham Asylum then maybe wait or order the last one, but if you want a big ass set to put your figs in or to modify then I suggest this one.
>>6134948
But that's not pic related
>>6135205
You have any pics for scale? I forgot to say I kind of just want a big building, but if it was kind of spooky themed that's just icing on the cake
I liked the last arkham set but in the end it was smaller Han I thought it would be
>>6135212
For the longest time I wanted to get this, but then I saw what it looked like closed down and eeeeeeh.
>>6135226
it looks cool tho
>>6135065
It's not just a Japanese thing, nor even primarily a Japanese thing. 'Stancing' has been a thing in the States for years, usually applied to the worst shitbox cars and with a 'HATERS GON' HATE LOOK HOW UNSAFE MY CAR IS' style.
Now, bosozoku cars, THAT's a purely Japanese thing and I love how silly it is.
>>6135228
Kinda.
But when compared to Ultra Agents command center, or even original Agents command center, it just fells flat.
And for the record, I fucking love Alpha Team
I always liked World Builder, and one thing that has always troubled me was finding the Creator set that cooresponds to the Defender (blue robot on far left) and Treebot units of the game, in spite of finding sets and/or schematics coresponding about every other model. Anyone have any idea which set it was?
>bought UCS Slave I
>two pieces were missing
>>6135225
shitty angle but the main front part is about a foot tall with penny and Batman to scale. Inside it's pretty roomy and even more so if you remove the X-Ray. I haven't built the side buildings yet but I'm guessing the whole set will be like a foot and half long, so pretty big. I think if you wanted to up the spook factor you definitely can if you modified it a little bit.
>>6135236
The Defender and Treebot along with the Repair Robot IIRC are alt models/idea models from the Designer set 4099-1 Robobots
>>6135236
I think the blue robot is an alt-build of a robot/mech released at the time. Can't remember what year but that should be enough for you to try looking again for something just with those colors but not that actual build
To the anon who was curious about my 10240 X-wing mod. Got most of the parts, managed to fuck up a few small things in the order but was able to compensate for most of them for testing. This is 99% finished, the nose and the engines got changed. The missing T shape from the intakes is not final of course.
I'm really happy with how it turned out to look, the engines really look a lot better in terms of scale.
>>6135194

So I bought this on 50% off, now I need ideas for this quartet of hardened criminals. What are their unique and useful skill sets? Why are only two of them in prison, and the other two at large?

Old scruffy was out of the game. Wife, kids, dog. The whole deal. When he heard Slick was out of jail and had a perfect job, how could he not join back up for one more gig. Slick's main squeeze is a get away driver. She heard from another squad that the police station was purposefully letting prisoners out of jail to recapture them and make tons of money from grants and other government funds. Slick is an idea man and figured he could break into the police station and steal proof of the police cover-up and maybe snag a few bucks. Also the're is Fransisco. He's strong.
Together, they might just be able to take down the Lego City Police Department.

It's actually two 1x1 round plates, and the tire fits comfortably in the round ridge between the two round plates.
(one of them is http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemIn.asp?P=85861&colorID=11&in=A , so it can fit on a 3-length lightsaber blade)

Right okay. No I have the sail from the set. It's what actually sparked me to want to do this. I was looking for a tan weathered background for the red serpent to sit on. I was thinking like a aged flag look. But now that I think about it I don't know how that would print. Maybe printing the svg on a tan flag would be better. Could make a wallpaper however....
>>6135496
I mean I hope to make a 3x5 ft flag. But if we could do a 1920x1080 or even 4k size resolution would be epic for wallpaper/poster reasons
Are any Youtube reviewers actually properly critical? Seems most of the ones I've listened to amount to 'yeah I liked it' and 'yeah it's okay'. They spend more time analyzing trivial minifig print details than anything

Look for distinguishing accessories and headpieces. Try to work the baseplate/intruction page away from the parts you're trying to identify by touch. Large accessories: animals, bows, fishing rods, shields make it easier.
>>6135869
Feel for the accessories first, since they tend to be unique. In this wave, a few accessories are repeated, so you could feel for accessory first, then headgear. Both Gordon and Harley have a 2x2 tile, but Harley's hair is really obvious. Joker and Barbara both have handcuffs, but it's really easy to feel for the 1x1 plate, as it tends to sink to the bottom of the bag.
Most of this series have Batman cowls, so this wave is a bit tougher than most.

According to brickpedia, the Falcon's manual is only 311 pages long. So that other anon is right then, the Porsche has a bigger manual. Which now makes me wonder, why the fuck is the Porsche's manual so god damn big? The Falcon has nearly twice as many pieces.
>>6136136
The Porsche has 40 pages dedicated to a history of how Lego and Porsche became involved, as well as a detailed history of Porsche. The engineering of the Porsche is also incredibly complex which probably contributes to the size of the manual.

nothing, really. the roller itself is sweet af. I know there are complaints about the size and scale of the car not being consistent with minifigures. But ultimately, that's just their own complaints. I find it completely fits a villain who's clearly compensating for his size with something as huge as the roller is
Alright /toy/ I'm going to start buying sets to store sealed in their boxes to increase in value over a few years and then sell later to fund future plastic crack purchases. A lego investment fund, I guess.
What do you all feel has the best potential, Creator Modular buildings or UCS star wars? Or another suggestion?
>>6136185
The technic axles on the front wheels are two separate 4-length axles with stoppers instead of one long axle, and the way it's put together causes a significant amount of friction between the two stoppers, so the front two wheels don't spin freely. It also doesn't seem to affect every set. Jang's review shows it happening, mine has the same problem, but the Brothers Brick review makes no mention of it.
>>6136209
I should add, however, that despite the problem, it's really easy to just replace both separate technic axles with one single long one.

I'm at a loss what to do with all the heads though.
>>6136312
>not swapping the heads to make Inmate Harley and the ever-so-sexy Dr. Joker
>>6136324
Assuming you have a Joker with the older, more serious face, you can put them on random dudes and have them be Joker's goons. Especially since the actual Joker goon face only came in one set from a few years ago and sells for like $2 per head.
Or, you could just dump the heads in the parts bin and not do anything with them. Unless you're an American Indian, I don't think you have to use every part.
Can we talk about how awesome the new pizza slice piece is? Between this, the watermelon slice, Batman's lobster, and the hot dog bun from last year, LEGO is really stepping up the food game.
>>6136374
tfw they never made a physical lego island pizza piece
tfw lego island was too early for them to have made a pepper roni minifig that actually had the moulded cap antenna and printed backpack
Im so damn happy.

Thank you lego for making my childhood dream of building a mini Dark Wizard army come true.

When the hell is the US finally going to get the recent wave of Star Wars sets? And some damn leaks of the UCS Snowspeeder, while we're at it...
Does anyone have this piece?
I want to see how it fits on other female hair pieces with holes in them.
>>6136898
>I swear that I've seen Duplo blindbags before.
>And that they were partially transparent on one side so it kinda defeated the purpose
I mean, those are probably Duplo POLYBAGS.
"Blindbag" means the company deliberately obfuscates what product is inside. "Polybag" means the set comes in a soft plastic bag instead of a stiff cardboard box or plastic bucket.
>>6136948
I do. Let me see if I have any other hair pieces with the hole.

>>6136847
I'm not sure if the Slave is a good investment as the Star Wars bandwagon will go on for a few years and we see Boba, Han in Carbonite and Bespin guard in other sets with minor changes.
I don't know, I've been thinking about the same thing to maybe buy the UCS slave and storage it for a few years but I'm afraid with disney on helm it's a bad purchase, especially with the han solo and fett movie coming out right?
Get one for yourself, if it doesn't rise in price, you can open it or sell it with minor loses.

Lego ideas gets reworked
http://brickset.com/article/26089/lego-ideas-test-lab-announced
I want to build this in gulf orange and blue but no light blue wheel arches.
I did brick lick white and red for martini&rossi and generic "italian". I also might do regular blue with white in usa racing colors, but gulf blue & orange was the best livery for the gt40
>>6136994
https://ideas.lego.com/blogs/1-blog/post/115
Why didn't you just post the blog post? It doesn't say Lego Ideas is getting a rework, it is just a new product.
"On LEGO Ideas Test Lab we'll be running a new kind of challenge during this period, which differs from the standard LEGO Ideas and slightly from the LEGO Rebrick experience that you're used to, but don't worry - neither of these two classic experiences are going away"

UCS, Modulars, Ideas, Creator Expert, and large sets like the Technic Porsche and Bucket Wheel. Those are the only sets that will *reliably* (and sometimes very quickly depending on the particular set) increase in value after it stops being manufactured.
Like you said, collectors are idiots. You can jack up the prices pretty high and I'm sure someone will be stupid enough to pay for it.

>>6137045
that's true but can you vouch it won't be rereleased by disney in a smaller set? We see a big influx to lego and star wars since the new films are in and ask yourself how many people are doing the same as you?
UCS falcon was before the new films and got it's price jacked up even if the millenium falcon was released in a newer set.
Your best bet would be to see how much ucs falcons were made, how the price changed with new movies and new smaller falcon and use that to figure how much is it worth to get slave.
Either way legos get pricier with age and with oil prices rising
If I was you I'd rather go with modulars or sets like the haunted house which have limited stock since disney could screw you sideways like with the new death star and re-release of slave in smaller set or ucs of jangos version, who knows

So I just built pic related, and wondered if anybody else noticed some things about the set?
Quality seems to have gone down. I had a point in the instructions where the piece wouldn't fit as shown, that's never happened before.
Some of the bricks feel weird, like the plastic mix was off, the edges are sharper and overall the piece isn't as glossy. Some are just covered in mold lines.
And the Creator boxes look like they're smaller this year but that could be me.
Got this cute little set off of ebay for only $10

some kind of mining truck or something designed to fit those Life On Mars aliens. Which by the way are my all time favorite minifigs because they fit in 2-block wide spaces and their hands clip on at right angles. I think I'm going to order all of the Life On Mars sets from BL, those were hands-down my favorites.

a "running out of pieces" fighter. Not so proud of this one. Honestly wish I hadn't destroyed that giant Exo-Force spider thing. Shit was badass. Yet another one to order from Bricklink. Exo Force was my 2nd favorite I think.
