How come we never get a General for a company that makes the most realistic looking figures ever?
>>
How come they wont pick up the Halo license :(
>>
1. Because /toy/ is for poorfags

2. Because there's already places to talk about Hot Toys online
>>
>>6107394
Holy shit that never crossed my mind but damn I'd love a Master Chief, Arbiter or Sergeant Johnson Hot Toys
>>
>>6107395
>Because /toy/ is for poorfags
implying you don't get enjoyment by just talking about awesome looking figures?

I love watching all the Hot Toys reviews on youtube.
>>
How come the Hot Toys Rogue One Vader's lightsaber doesn't light up but Kylo Ren's lightsaber does?

Makes no sense considering in Rogue One he is walking through a dark corridoer with just his lightsaber lighting up the place (I would have loved to get a background picture of that hallway I could position him on with his glowing red lightsaber).

Considering Hot Toys loves re releasing so many Iron Man;s, someone tell them to do this for Vader and I'd 10/10 buy
>>
>>6107394
Because 3A already got it and produced 1/6 figures ranging from okay to fucking terrible.
>>
It's pretty cool that Mr Grin and Eyeball Man from Suicide Squad are getting a Hot Toys release.

I wonder what the price would be because considering they only come with a gun I would expect the price to be cheaper.

If only. I would give them so many money.
>>
There isn't a whole lot to say outside of discussing new releases when they hit.

I collect them. I like them. I'm going to get that arkham knight batman and I want that rogue one vader.

>>>6107394

I have a friend who would buy every halo figure they released, guaranteed.
>>
>>6107436
>I want that rogue one vader.
Same but him not having his lightsaber glow is off putting
>>
Hot Toys figures look really good but they almost always have shit poseabilty.
>>
>>6107392

Is there really anything to talk about besides releases? As a company they are opaque as hell. No communications and no insights into their process. Literally just a monolithic toy maker dispensing out dolls that people buy and put in their display case in a neutral position.

Hot Toys people are very boring.
>>
>>6107392
Because how many of us can afford them?

I can, but why buy a hot toys optimus prime when I can buy takara's mp10 and several minions for the same cost?

Let alone cheaper walmart tier shit hasbro wants us to buy
>>
>>6107491

Their pricing works against active discussion too. Never met a Hot Toys collector that could take criticism, at least not here.

They also never post in posing threads for obvious reasons.

That said I still really want that fucking Grevious.
>>
1:6 is good

The prices are basically a ripoff, brought about solely by Hot Toys flooding the market with expensive figures that people ate up, so every other company followed suit. Sideshow's GI Joe line was between $60-$70 retail when it began and was double that by the end with zero improvement in quality. HT are $300 average, and even "unlicensed" stuff bumps past $100. These prices have no excuse other than greed, considering the only parts with real effort are the heads. It's a generic body with some clothes on and a few accessories, and these days companies have started to use the shittiest quality materials so parts break. Bring the prices down to levels before HT fucked up the pricing market, and 1:6 would become decent again. I'm not paying game console/computer prices for an action figure.

If anything, $15 or less for a PTE soldier is a far better deal than HT. HT are maybe 3X the quality of those which doesn't warrant a 20X markup.

>Herc & Xena
>more or less dead franchises no one cares about anymore
>Kevin Sorbo is such a dickhead now that very few businesses even want to deal with him

when the best work you can get now is a 10 second cameo on Key & Peele, your career is basically fucked. He's burned his bridges with Sam Raimi with baseless Danzig-tier lawsuits and his whiny muh feels social views have alienated lots of the show's old fans.
>>
>>6107489

I just realized that if they were more transparent then they'd be vulnerable to questioning things like why 1:6 clothes cost more than 1:1. Best to keep it a shadow void where you can command more money for no reason.

Unless it comes with so many accessories like this Joker version does then I can understand the price.

But when it just comes with a couple accessories (like Darth Vader just coming with a lightsaber), paying over $300 isn't right.
>>
>>6107499
>Kevin Sorbo is such a dickhead now that very few businesses even want to deal with him

Can you take off all their clothing and customize them with other outfits or say if one version of a character doesn't come with specific pants that another version has, can you buy the pants separably and then replace them?
>>
>>6107639
In most cases for human characters, yes.
>>
>>6107402
Unless I'm mistaken, didn't their ANH Vader have a light-up lightsaber? The lightsaber for Rogue One Vader seemed like a last minute insert after they watched the film.

>I love watching all the Hot Toys reviews on youtube.

Like staring at the toys in a catalog you knew you'd never get. And before that, staring at toys in a store window.
>>
>>6107634
Hot Toys have been recently using rubber bodies that crack and faux leather clothing that flakes under anything other than absolutely perfect atmospheric conditions.
>>
>>6107665
Even if I do own a few Hot Toys, it's still fun to do this. It's just nice to see what's out there and what crazy stuff toy companies can pull off.
>>
>>6107670
Source?
>>
>>6107662
It Did, though way back when hot toys started doing Star wars, their lead guy, J.C. Hong said in an interview, that if they did lights-up Lightsabers, they would only do them if they felt they could "get them right". THey look kinda crap on all the figures they've done so far. The handles look oversized, and so do the blades.

My guess, they've given up on the lights. Which would be a good thing AFAIC
>>
>>6107674
Ah makes sense. It's a neat feature but I never really cared for light-up stuff and just because it's Hot Toys, doesn't mean everything has to be so true to life in their presentation.

>>
>>6107687
Not him but all rubber degrades and is supposed to be treated with a conditioning solution that hydrates and protects rubber.
>>
>>6107687
How's this then. Hot toys figures with Rubber or pleather materials have ALLWAYS had trouble. The rubber slowly rots and cracks, and so does the pleather.

Here is a video about it.

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=SmzGCfPbqrg

Here is an ENTIRE THREAD on the Sideshow/hot toys forums Dedicated to it that goes all the way back to 2010
http://www.sideshowcollectors.com/forums/general-collectibles-action-figures/82683-hot-toys-rubber-deterioration.html

My point was, hot toys figures rotting, is nothing new.
>>
>>6107746
Don't listen to this guy, he's full of crap. Just rub the rubber/pleather parts of your hot toys figures with acetone once a week, and they will be fine.
>>
>>6107629

Hulk isn't rubber, he is thin pvc. all rubber dries out and cracks eventually. Same with pleather. Quality, and environment dictates the time it takes.

What hot toys made in the last 4 or so years have even had rubber?
>>
It was half price and half selection that turned me off to 1:6 scale. I have a couple of RAHs, HTs, and Sideshows, most from when they were only $100 or less. They just don't make much of what I want to collect. For awhile there all they seemed to be making was Iron Man and Darth Vader. Not interested in paying anywhere near $300 for that. Now, do Lina Inverse or Brisco County Jr and I'll be interested...

To me I dont see any reason to pay full price for the Batman rebreather when they should have included a separate regular BvS Batman head so you can choose to swap them (considering we see Batman also with his regular mask in the movie too)

You would think this figure maybe comes with some exclusive accessories to make people buy it if it is the regular Hot Toys price

Nothing. People are too dumb to understand they should never buy a toy that's not 100% hard plastic with coated pins and screws.

>>

I don't really fault anyone for buying hot toys anymore since they have one of the most consistently positive returns on the secondary market.

You are typically only risking being able to, at worst, sell it for about 80% of what you paid.

Of the 6 hot toys I have, half of them sell for more than I bought them new and the other half sell for about 90% what I paid for them.

1:6 clothes doesn't use tinier thread. That's why they look so odd most of the time.

And they're not the only 1:6 game in town so we kind of already know the clothes aren't whats making these things costs so much and if it were the 1/6th of the material costs would make up the difference.

I used to love these, but they're just getting more an more expensive, while you're getting less and less accesories. Even non dx figures are almost 300$ these days. Thats were I draw the line. They're just being greedy fucks. all these different jokers would've been 1 figure with interchangeable clothes/headsculpts 5 years ago. And don't get me started on their Iron-Man milking bullshit.
>>
>>6113385

If they were smart they'd just use fiberoptic cable.

I bought 2 Hot Toys for the price of one on ebay.

Only way I will buy any cos they of course are too expensive in official stores.

I was lucky to at least find a good ebay seller who put some as bids.

Not that anon but he's gone super Christian fundie the last couple of years. Same with Chuck Norris.

Other than what that other anon mentioned the only work he's had is "God is Not Dead". And I think they're making a sequel or something.
>>
>>6113436
>but they're just getting more an more expensive, while you're getting less and less accesories.

You're describing 1/6 in general.
>>
>>6113550
I remember buying a dx joker for about 300 back when, and that had tons of extra stuff. These days you pay 200$+ for a basic figure with a few hands and a weapon. My biggest gripe is having to buy the same figure 2x for a small variation. Like kylo Ren, they could have easily put an unmasked headsculpt in there. Same with their Robocop, which didn't even have the right color. for a 300$+ figure that's just sad
>>
>>6113436
>>6113568
Thats my big problem with figures based off a single property from a franchise. My preference is to perfect versions of a character, taking iconic parts from all their appearances to a reasonable degree.

Like, I don't get why people are buying all the current versions of Hot toys Darth vader, when they'll just release a better version that can have an unmasked face eventually. And even then, they'll probably milk it to have two different unmasked headsculpts in two different releases; a ROTS version, and a ROTJ version
>>
>>6113584
>I don't get why people are buying all the current versions of Hot toys Darth vader, when they'll just release a better version that can have an unmasked face eventually.
If Disney ever does a Darth Vader standalone movie, we will get the most coolest Hot Toys Vader yet

They don't look anywhere near that bright in person.

I had to do I think 6 second exposure for the first and 10 for the other.

I'm enjoying the scale. The fact they're so big and for some people moderately expensive means you need to think about your collecting and displays a little more.

Spent a little while choosing, but decided to go with the version of Wolverine for my collection. Might try and pick up some other heads down the track for him too.

lol who really cares about realism? All Hot toys realism is ruined the second you see a joint seem. Or the fact that they can't move their arms past a certain degree.
>>
>>6114458
I dont care with putting my toys in ballerina poses. Why do you need the joints to spread out so much?

Also Hot Toys always has the best accessories ever and so much to play with and the amount of customizations you could do with them by buying other clothes and trying it on them compared to the 6 inch hard plastic uniforms.

The Figuarts Luke Skywalker looks nice but to me I prefer his clothes to be soft and actually feel real.

where did you get this idea that hot toys are less articulate? in my entire collection the only 1/6 figure i would say has bad articulation would be RAH Snake. worst hot toys would be Wolverine Wolverine but even then its actually pretty good.

i dont have deadpool but i do have BVS Batman. He wears a full body suit like deadpool and released about the same time i think. I want to say your reviewer was too afraid to move the arms up to their extreme out of fear of tearing fabric but i aint about that pussy life.

Pic related has left arm bent from the bottom of the joint and the right has it bending from the upside down position.

or maybe the deadpool figure has a quality to match his movie. i wouldnt doubt it being the true articulation. from my experiences hot toys figures usually do not have articulation matching other 1/6 companies especially if in tight clothing or exposed joints.

My fellow digital window shoppers.

Being the poorfag I am I have no chance of owning any of these figures especially Hot Toys. Despite loving the fuck out of 1/6 and all the kitbash and customization potential I just cant afford it, haven't bought a new 1/6 figure in years.

So for me, high res, high quality pics of the toys or really well done video reviews are just the second best thing. Its nice to think about what you would do with them if you could afford them and the kind of customization and kitbashes you could do with Hot Toys, Sideshow, Dragon, etc figures and accessories, so many possibilities..

That said, this thread needs more pics.

Yeah I agree with you there, 1/4th is good as one-offs with very good reason to do so, and this Boba Fett is a damn good reason I feel but it definitely shouldn't be something common because the price and limited kitbash potential with 1/6th scale anything not being able to work with 1/4th scale.

Its just a very cool thing Hot Toys did, a very expensively cool thing, the absolute madmen.

Got any pics of it if someone from here has posted them? Would love to see how it looks and how much space it takes up.

Yeah and unlike back when Hot Toys was just starting out now there are even more successful 1/6th companies around with their own unique lines, many originals and stuff, its great, just to see whats out there.

Hot Toys is definitely unique and quite impressive in the quality and skill of their license stuff though. But the least affordable option.

Nice to see they got the Star Wars license though, they really nailed it with that one, several of their figures are superior to Sideshow's, much more expensive though but nice to admire from afar lol.

They really should have cut that scene out of the movie where Jyn uses that melee weapon to kill some troopers. She never does anything like that again in the movie and thus it felt like it didnt need to be there.

Otherwise she was very well written and I love her as a female character. Would love to get a Hot Toys of her

Do you think Hot Toys will ever start designing figures which come with sets? I.e. that whole corridor that Vader is standing behind?

Imagine collecting Ripley and for an extra $200 you get to purchase her with a corridor with special lights.

Considering Hot Toys are designing life size figures now as well as an entire falcon, the batmobile, I see no reason why they cant do this.

They really should have based Leia's CGI face in Rogue One off this Hot Toys figure.

In fact they could have actually used this figure in low lighting and show half of her face as it cuts to the back of her body as you hear her say "Hope".

Would be a cool experiment for someone to try and make a fan edit doing this when Rogue One comes out if you own a Leia Hot Toys to see how it might look.

>Hot Toys 1/6th movie sets/backdrops

And you thought their figures were expensive...

Honeslt I think 6"/figma scale is the maximum for vehicles and full background sets, 1/6 means the set is much larger, heavier and ridiculously expensive, thats why its always small pieces usually just enough for the figure to stand on.

Even 6" is pushing it though for vehicles, where 3.75" inch seems perfect, and just right, not too small not too big.

Some other company was supposed to make him and Hannibal. Brian Fuller got to see the prototypes (at least for Hannibal if memory serves correctly), but I haven't seen or heard anything. Probably cancelled...

Especially storm troopers.

When I do get these figures it's usually a main character because the price is so high.

Just use ebay

I try to type in plastic case on ebay for Hot Toys but nothing comes up..

Is there a certain word for it?

Also, what if I put them in open air for bit and then back in the box or are they better off to stay sealed? Because one guy on youtube said he had a problem when he had 1 sealed in a single case foe a year and didnt open it.

Decided to do a search online and apparently he was up for preorder October - November of last year.

http://news.toyark.com/2016/09/30/photos-pre-order-info-threezero-hannibal-lecter-figure-223549

I don't know what to think of it overall, but it's awesome that he comes with his murder suit.
>>
>>6123007
>but it's awesome that he comes with his murder suit.
Yeah it's honestly what's tempting me about it.

Admittedly I'd kill for a Dolarhyde figure complete with Dragon tats under his clothes.
>>
>>6123007
When will he be released?
>>
toy buys $10 transformers from walmart
>>
>>6123042

He'd be more worth it if he was $100. He doesn't come with a whole lot (they include a murder suit, but don't include an alternate head with slicked back hair? No extra suit? Why is the wine glass empty???) and the big issue I have is that something is just off about the face sculpt (ThreeZero seems to be pretty hit and so-so when it comes to them). He has potential to shelfwarm, but then again the fanbase is pretty dedicated.

I wish Hot Toys could've gotten the license. While they'd be more expensive, they'd look amazing and we probably would've gotten a few of the characters along with a season 2 finale Hannibal.

The only thing Hot Toys made that I regret not getting was the Resident Evil figures.

Considering the significant rise in price now I'll have to be content with kit bashes.
>>
>>6118662
>but back then Hot Toys was the best of the best.

After awhile. Their first few sets reused 21st Century Toys molds and were pretty low quality even with the decent level of detail. I have one of their first sets (the MOPP figure) and it's really cool to have for collection reasons, but it's at about the same level as BBi or DML of around the same time (and only very slightly better than 21C which was a fraction of the price).
>>
>>6113568
I remember when good quality 1/6 figures (late 21C, BBi, DML) could be had for $30 and less at Toys R Us. When I was 13 you could walk into Walmart even and there was almost a whole wall of 1/6. Toys R Us had an entire aisle dedicated to 1/6 military figures.

There are rumors, Fuller is still enthusiastic about it and mentioned something about a mini series at the least. The team/actors are also all interested in returning. Not to mention the rabid and undeterred fanbase. Apparently they need to find a new home for it and more detailed negotiations will be possible this summer.

>>6125067
ThreeZero Hannibal isn't bad, but I would have definitely preferred a Hot Toys version, regardless of steeper price-tag.
I imagine a Nightmare/Wendigo Hannibal would also be pretty neat.

The show creators should start a kickstarter or something similar if they are unable to find enough support from networks. There are countless fans out there who would gladly spend a substantial amount if they knew it would mean they could get more. I know I certainly would. But unfortunately I doubt Fuller would step on that level even if it meant an easier and more liberated production.

I saw the actors of the show standing outside with a sign to bring the show bacm a year ago.

Would it be possible for Hot Toys to make weapons from say Call of Duty? I'd love a golden gun with some different customizations.

Keep the weapons to fit any 12 inch figure so you could decide to use them on any figure you want to.

Looks like Hot Toys has started a new series of figures from the Star Wars Battlefront reboot

The game thats all visually and audibly impressive but with subpar and disappointing gameplay for the most part.

The first one is the Shocktrooper, man I hope they do a Scouttrooper, I think they would do the best possible version of one.

Now that Sideshow isn't doing their militaries of Star Wars line, seems like Hot Toys is ripe for doing it and doing it better than Sideshow did

>Rebel Fleet Trooper
>Hoth Trooper
>Endor Trooper
>Shadow Trooper
>Scouttrooper
>Death Star Trooper
>Rebel Officer
>Sullust Rebel trooper

These are just a few I can remember from the game, imagine if Hot Toys makes them all, holy fuck..
