I've been slacking off on TR purchases lately, but I nabbed a Brainstorm at Walgreens a couple of weeks ago. Finally got some time to start appreciating him.

Really great, probably my second favorite of the line after Hardhead. I love how sleek he is in robot mode, as opposed to being big and bulky like most bots. Gives him a bit more personality. I can see how it made a good mold for Blurr. Love the colors, too, that blue-green just pops. Headsculpt is spot-on, as most of TR has been. That little bit of orange on his faceplate is a nice accent. The tampographs on his wings and legs look great, too, very sharp. Not nuts about how a huge chunk of his alt. mode just hangs off his back, but that's a case for a lot of retail releases. It's just more noticeable here, given the size and shape. At least it comes of and has some other functionality, though.


Alt. mode is surprisingly fun, despite the obvious flaw of the cockpit gap. Very swooshable, reminds me of a ship from a side-scrolling arcade shooter of some kind. A little bare on detail in this mode. Could have used some other colors to break up all the blue-green and beige, and I would have appreciated if they had found a way to give him two tailfins instead of just the one, but that's one of the downsides of mold-sharing, I guess.

Armada and Energon are like spoiled milk, very hard to enjoy and if you do it's more of how terrible they were animated/plotted. Cybertron holds up ok but it has the same issues/charm of the G1 series meaning you can tell it was made to sell toys and for viewers under 10 to watch.

Random note:Depending on who you ask Galaxy Force was the same or worse as the dub because Japaneses kids need to be told everything over and over again. The only advantage is if you don't understand the language it's just reading and not as cringe(also depending on the translator you might be spared some of the awful jokes and gags), otherwise it's like watching Power Rangers but with more puns and talking to the audience.

engineering of Armada was rushed and ill planned where it was east and west designers getting together and working it out in less than a year. The minicons are charming but most of the figures can be summed up as G1 inspired bricks. Energon was a lot more stable and brought a lot back like the ball joints and full range on figures, still not perfect. The pants/shirt gimmick really hurt a lot of the Autobots while the worse the Decpticons suffered was large kibble. Cybertron was where they were getting their stride and most of the line was great quantity even with the key gimmick (which was just a lazier version of the minicon gimmick)
Overall Cybertron is the only one that aged ok/fair.

It's alright. Its pretty chunky like most RID toys but it's about as articulated as the generations version and has pretty much the same transformation.

A lot of people prefer it over the generations mold because it balances much, much better.

I haven't been able to find one in my stores that didn't have dopey paint apps on its face though so I never got it myself.

Helps if you can FIND TR in stores. I can't. Used to be I just couldn't find Titan Masters (literally have only seen one in my life, Terri-Bull), but now I can't find ANY in stores, just RiD shit.

I had to buy Brainstorm online, and initially I did really enjoy him, a lot more than Blurr, but the teal color scheme has really driven a wedge between us overtime, feels like the figure was yellowed altogether.

My local Walgreens has become my most reliable outlet for TR Deluxes. They show up later than normal, and there may only be a single peg of them, but there's always a nice sampling of the wave. Meanwhile, my Target has nothing at all, and TRU is still shelfwaring with a ton of Blurr and Scourge.

The toy is fine. My only complaint are the flipper hands, but other than that it's easily one of the best HA toys; not all that of a competition, though, when only Jazz, Barricade, and Roadbuster other than him are competent enough to be considered part of a best of anything.

People still like the Classics Astrotrain mold, the TR one is just ok, and CW Sky Lynx is acquired taste so I'm not sure you'll like it. I personally love the Armada Jetfire mold, but he lacks leg articulation and no waist due to his transformation.

Call me heretic but I'm not as impressed with Triggerhappy as I thought I'd be. The arm kibble hinders his arm swivels and his alt is just this big blue blob even if the transformation is slick.

Doing that would increase costs, so it had to be cut. Some of the few designs we see in some of the TR stuff implies they would get some basic articulation, so it's not like they never thought about it.

Funny thing is the original RID version was at a toy shop nearby but since It was still in a box the greedy motherfucker that runs the place is charging like 120 for it. On a side note can we talk about just how good of a figure Cerebros is on his own? Like he turns into a head but the robot mode is decently posable and just so solidly put together. The shoulders on LG 35 Ginrai lock into their positions very hard.
Do be careful when transforming it into truck model as if you holding the chest wrong, it can result in some stress marks in the red truck bed. Worst, break the whole thing.

Well I'm completely far away but search for Robinsons Starmill and SM Pampanga malls, and are close to each other. Robinsons carries Toys R Us while SM has a somewhat larger toystore. Mall of Asia's a huge ass mall but I believe there's only one toy store in it named Toy Kingdom. All SMs don't have Toys R Us, but sometimes they do carry TRU exclusives at limited. There's another mall named Marquee mall but god knows where that is in Pampanga

If you came in at June-July, you could've come in time for the annual toy fairs, lots of great finds on Takara, Wei Jiang and other TFs from older lines.

So far most of my known Collector's shops are far away from MOA. Not sure if there are Pampanga locals in here to help you travel.

The TR version is really good though. They got about the same about of paint in the same places, though instead of painted arms the LG versions has some paint in the cockpit to liven it up a bit.

I'd really say both versions are equal in quality and give a great pair of options between toy or toon colors (assuming you don't mind paying extra for toon). QC and joint tightness is pretty much identical on both versions for me.

Probably to avoid breakage. The bat heads ears would break pretty easily if they weren't rubber, and the size of the robot mode wings would make them difficult to transform properly if they were sturdier plastic.

Still hate it uses rubber, but at least there's a reason, unlike Skullcruncher, and Weirdwolf.
