I like it but it feels like the headlamps are back too far, on the actual car they're right up front next to the bumper and the hood slopes down between them, on the model they're recessed and the hood slopes in front of them.

Man, I always got such a little kid boner over the City Trains line because the monorails looked so futuristic to a kid in the middle of nowhere who only saw Burlington Northern engines pulling miles of coal cars. I had this headcanon for a while (mainly based on all the cool pictures in the catalogs) that Town and Space were taking place simultaneously, mainly because the monorails in both lines felt like they were of similar make.

Same, to this day I've never actually seen a passenger train in person due to living in such a rural location, only Norfolk Southern freighters carrying wood, coal, cars, high explosive fuel, miles and miles of JB Hunt intermodal trailers, and the occasional unmarked, tarp-covered flatbed to the local aerospace company.

Trains are cool as fuck and I still don't know anything about them other than that they're cool as fuck so City/Creator trains still give me boners.

Thankfully those and Vacationman are those ones I really want from this wave, as well as a few of the D-list villains. Harriet was a surprise since I didn't intend to get her but the printing has grown on me.

It's interesting how pretty much every single time someone- including Lego itself- makes a Porsche-styled sports car, the headlights are set up just a bit differently.
>>
>>6107104
shit, forgot to finish the post

They're set up a bit differently yet are still immediately recognizable as a Porsche with the name filed off just because that classic sloped hood, bug-eyed lights look is so damn iconic.
>>
>>6107104
Actually, seeing that makes me think >>6107089 should put the Technic pin-stud pieces in and flip the headlamps around so they're stud-out (or try it with a pair of round tiles)
>>
Could anyone put a Joker head on Nurse Harley's body?
>>
>>6107107
That's how I had it originally, but then the square 1x1 plate at the back of the Technic piece doesn't fit, because the pin blocks it. That then leaves a gap between the headlamp unit and the fender, which annoyed me to no end.

I have. I went to to my local Target and found all the villains I wanted (by feeling the bags of course). i had trouble with red hood untill i realized the only thing i could confuse him for was calculator

i wish some old french site that made a picture of the contents of each minifig bag, on a small chart you could easily print, kept doing that. they did it only for the halloween wave, and it honestly helped massively

feeling bags is just like a game of guess who at that point. this wave it was like, when you feel something like a hat with points, you've narrowed that nigga down to 9 figs, but more importantly eliminated 11 others. then you just go from there

>>
>>6107333
Yeah, that's essentially what I did to find the ones I wanted. For Calculator, I felt the visor piece. For Catman, I felt the utility belt. For Zodiac Master, I felt the fins on the fish accessory. For the Eraser, I had to feel his head AND the 2x2 tile he comes with, so that I wouldn't confuse his head with the 1x1 cylinder of shark repellent Dick Grayson comes with. Now for the Red Hood, I had the most difficulty finding because like you I confused his shoulder piece with that of the Calculator's. What made me tell them apart was the visor, and the two mini uzis. There was no way I could be wrong on the uzis, because by then I already knew what the shark repellent handle felt like.

Well if they didn't keep putting out shill sw sets then maybe people would buy them. Don't get me wrong I'm a huge sw fan and collector myself but I don't need 3 turbo tanks or 7 xwings in color variants. There are TONS of amazing ships they could do, but muh alphabet ships only...
>>
>>6107641
I also think that star wars is overpriced, and current prices for rogue one sets are even higher, for example the battlepack is more expensive but it didnt bring anything new to justify that price, and in absence of pirates and proper castle theme ninjago and city are my favorites, i hope that lego will run ninjago for a long time... i also hope we will see jungle explorers in city, hopefully with new animal molds

That is great news, i hope we will get ninjago movie cmf aswell

Regarding the lego star wars, i think that sets are losing quality and that they should return to early 2000 set style, but with new molds, new sets are overly designed and look more like mocs than playsets, where you could get jabba the hut, boba fett, vader and all the main characters and locations for cheap, i am not going to spend 120 dollars on a single set

Completely agreed. I guess im just normalized to the "licence fee". I picked up my first ever ninjago set over the holiday (Wus dojo polybag) and gotta say it's comfy. What city really needs is to break the mold on the police fire dig and jump 20 minutes into the future with some cyberpunk sets.

So I found some of pic related at a Target yesterday. I got one because why not.

It's cute! It's Joker driving an... evil bumper car and getting ready to throw a cream pie. An evil cream pie I guess.

inb4 creampie perversion

So is this polybag a recent thing? It seems weird that they'd release a Joker in this style alongside the one in the movie. Maybe it was leftover stock from somewhere and they just put it out, maybe because of the movie? I've never seen it before, but I just recently came out of a not-quite-dark age and I wasn't paying attention.

Yeah, that's the average.

But you get that average by adding together the few single white males who make waaay more than that, and the much larger number who make a lot less.

Averages can be tricky that way.

I found three of the large gray 48 x 48 baseplates at the thrift shop today. They were 50 cents each so I figured I'd try and clean them up. So far I've scrubbed them and left them to soak in some simple green and water. One is looking pretty good. Number two has scratches on the top. Three has a decent sized crack in it.

Anyways, my question is what do you guys like to use on discolored parts to bring them back? Once I've finished scrubbing all the crud off I plan on using hydrogen peroxide to restore the color.
>>

>>
>>6108073
At least the Fords got it right.

I agree, though, I'm not really a huge fan of stickers (though I still love Speed Champions), so I wish they'd rely a bit less on them and leave more of the shaping elements up to the Lego bricks themselves, rather than the stickers. Wherever possible, I wish they'd leave the stickers for things like advertising decals and the like.
>>
>>6108097
Hydrogen peroxide is supposed to work at restoring lego pieces, just go a google search on it.

Bottom of the package has a sub-series number. For Warsaw's ZÅ‚ote Tarasy (golden terraces) the series was 116B6

Pic related is for 223B6.

I use them just to make sure i don't get duplicates.

So far, brick quality is perfect, figures are shit.

Can be had for less than a hundo, actually closer to $70 or so I think now.

Yeah, LEPIN did a knockoff of it and a couple of the PoTC ships. I got the imperial and the queen annes revenge, will be part of my full LEPIN review series (Both ship, avengers lab, green grocer and grand emporium) once they are all built.

>>6108375

>>
>>6108364
eh, could just be they have been molding the bricks a lot longer than the figs?

Really, for my own opinion, the figs are shit because of their prints, which seem almost a bit translucent compared to reg lego prints. The plastic feels like some of the CMF figures (that almost more brittle feel to it), and the head posts/necks are def a smidge too small, so the heads sit a little loose.

>>6108369
Nah, just text reviews, did one for the LEPIN monster fighters mansion that a few people on here thanked me for, so figured id do the same for a couple of the other bigger sets, if anything, for people who might want some of these bigger sets but are on the fence about the quality (and who may have been brainwashed by idiots on here who just immediately scream "ITS CHINK SHIT SO ITS AUTOMATICALLY BAD!!!!").

My next white whale is the LEPIN "APPLE UNIVERSITY" modular, which clocks in at over 7000 pieces, looks detailed as fuck and sells for about $230-$250 right now (which seems like a lot, but imagine what it would cost if lego themselves had released it....), for that one I MIGHT do a video review, but I have absolutely no experience editing videos yet....

Those Wojtus work perfectly for that scale!

>>6107089
That looks a lot better anon, gj.
Don't listen to the guy saying to make it a two-seater. I love those and try to integrate it into as much cars as possible, but it wouldn't work too well with the curves you tried to achieve.

To the anon who said i should build the SW hovertank, thank you. When i ordered it i already knew i was atleast going to use all the pieces and liked the industrial look of it, but i was a bit let down by it when i saw JANGS review of it.
After actually building it, it was a really great experience. You can change it up and repurpose it very easily for whatever you want.
I immediately redid some of the colours, the rear-deck and and the entire interior to maximize interior space as much as possible. Now it seats 4 comfortably, actually has a console, a steeringwheel, cushioned seats and has space for even the biggest/longest hairpieces and airtanks.
I'll post some pics later.

As a side note. God fucking damn it was such a pain in the ass getting a hold of 2 new pairs of 2x3 dark red wedge plates. Motherfuckers only ever came in one set from over 10 years ago. Only 3 stores in the world were selling them that shipped to me.

You're right. But rare molds still don't justify the sets being that much more expensive

If anything rare molds would justify it, they had to spend money to make that mold so we pay for it, it's a business
>>
>>6108569
Uh, anon. You do realize that we're talking about a toy with no value outside of what someone is willing to pay for it.
Being capitalists, LEGO sets their price at what they think people will pay for it without giving a fuck about arbitrary ideas of value held in the head of some adult autist who buys their children's toys.

i just built the green NRG dragon, and this lil nigga is one cute ass motherfucker, second only to wu's dragon
only problem is, i want him displayed with wings folded inward, and that'll obviously crease his printed sailboat wings

anyone know good replacements for Sail material? just something that doesnt look shit, and is relatively sturdy, so it can take having alot of small holes punched in it.
iirc people have talked about making capes (similar, if not the same, material) out of fleece, but i think that would be too thick for this, since his wings are only held on by claws inserted into holes

honestly though, this bitch is cute as hell without wings, and i might just keep it a giant chicken dragon

i actually went to the lego store about a month back when they changed their build a fig, and loaded up the large pot with parts for 60 little penguins, and a metric shitton of the mom penguins closed eyelashes eye piece, so now i have evern MORE eye options
>>
How does the build a fig station work? There's no lego stores in my country
What types of body parts do they have? Is it just random generic city shit or do they also have parts from the more specific themes like ninjago?
>>
>>6109291
you build three figures from parts in a bin
1 leg
1 torso
1 head
1 hat/hair
1 accessory

if your lego store knows you're cool, they sometimes let you use 2 accessories, that or if you buy alot and they know you do.

the parts are a bit random, but its mostly random within reason
lets just use torsos for example
they have VERY large bins in back, they use to fill the floor station, and it has somewhere between 10-20 different torsos in it, from city, ninjago, nexo knights, and some cmf. generally though, its only 1 or 2 from the line though. theres alot of "normal" options as well, which was presumably city at some point. like farmers, theres been no farmers for several years, but dark blue overalls with a green undershirt is most likely a farmer.

every single part works the same way, around 15 different options.
many times though, they'll have remnents of the old boxes mixed in though, and you'll find a rarer (comparatively) part. in my store for example, even digging through the box in back when they let me, there were only something like 10 cats, within several thousand accessories.

tl:dr, theres enough parts to most likely make 3-9 figs you'll actually want, but quite a few more options

OK GOD DAMN IT.

I have a special NEED here.

Has ANYONE HERE bought one of PIC RELATED, and if so, are you willing to sell him? I will straight pay $40 to you for this guy. I just got screwed over by a site who claimed they had some in stock, we ordered one, didnt even hear a fucking thing from them until today when we finally messaged them asking what the fuck was going on. Turns out their store has been closed this whole time and they didnt have any.

THEN, ONE FUCKING STORE on bricklink claimed to have 2 of them (AZbricks, cocksuckers....), but they have a $100 MINIMUM buy. Messaged them TWICE asking if I could buy just the one figure, no fucking response at ALL, so just now I said "fuck it, ill buy a set or two from them to get the figure", THEY FUCKING REMOVED THE LISTING.

I am deadly serious, $40 to the first person who can sell me one of these. Bitch is, all I need is his torso....And no, you cant get them from citizen brick, firestar, not even fucking EBAY.

Late 90s Lego almost killed itself. The sets were experimental, used a lot of pre-build pieces and no one really wanted them. They almost went out of business back then.

Combined efforts of Bonkle and Star Wars kept the company afloat for the longest time.
>>
>>6108820
Yeah it kinda irks me that the closest to this are the 10 dollar starter sets that come with a maximum of 4 minifigures. Something like this for 6 or 7 bucks would be fantastic and a much more efficient crowd builder.

I like the bit of roof overhang, the hood looks good as well and the sideview mirrors are simple but clever.

How are you fitting two figs inside, standard jumper plate setup?
>>
>>6109774
Probably because in the late '80s-early '90s, Lego saw minifig packs as a way to entice kids to spend five bucks, whereas now Lego sees minifigs as a way to inflate the price of a larger set by $5.00 per minifig. They're viewed as more of a scarce resource these days, it seems. Or at least a more expensive one.

>>
>>6109880
He's short. He needs to stand on a stool.
>>
>>6109862
>is that original?
Yeah. I personally feel like a lot of other, both mocs and official, snowmobile designs end up too large and clunky compared to a minifigure.
Though I do believe it was someone from here who suggested me to use chainsaws for treads.
>>
>>6109883
how tall is this guy? im 5'5 and hope i dont need a stool
>>
>>6109885
Awesome, the chainsaw treads are a real masterstroke.

And yeah, I feel that some of the Lego vehicles are getting too large for my likes. The Speed Champions ones in particular have super high beltlines because of their new mudguard pieces that are an entire plate thicker (or maybe even two) than the City ones, but the vehicles in real life are super low to the ground.

In real life, the C7 Corvette is like four feet tall, but in Speed Champions it's like seven/eight feet tall relative to the minifig.
>>
>>6109889

>>
>>6109894
I think it has a lot to do with minifigs' weird proportions. It's pretty much impossible to get a car to have spot-on measurements and still fit figs properly. Speed Champs is a big offender, the cars are way too tall but shrinking them down would be difficult. The xbox-huge wheels and fenders definitely aren't helping matters- standard City wheels are almost too big for cars as it is because Lego refuses to use the smaller 17mm wheel/tire combos for vehicles. They keep using that sloped windscreen piece, too, which means despite being 6-wide the cars can only ever seat one minifig.

To be fair though, most of these new cars actually do have super retardedly high beltlines, giant wheels and fender.
>>
>>6109897
Yes, Johhny Thunder with the head of the Alpha Team leader.

He was the biggest badass ever
>>
>>6109905
Oh, I agree. I just think that the Speed Champions line would be much better served with smaller wheels, smaller fenders to fit the wheels, and try to emphasize lowness as much as possible.

I know it's hard to do at the minifig scale (building six-wide minifig vehicles is my jam), but I can never bring myself to use the Speed Champions wheels (even with the cool inserts) because they're just too damn big.

Look at these wheels. Look at them.

They're fucking perfect for everyday stuff, and yet the only get used on trailers and go-karts and instead even the smallest City coupe has to make do with fucking balloon tires on wheels more fitting of a minority's Pontiac 'awn riiiiiiiiimmmmmzzzz.'

Use these for normal cars, use the normal City wheels for trucks, and use the smooth City wheels (the recently introduced ones, they're on the Rally Car and a few other things IIRC) for sports cars and brand-new sedans. Boom. I just solved all the horrible proportion issues.

Yes, Ogel Minion was my guy. My favorite colors were red and black, so when I saw him at a yard sale I just knew I had to have him. To me, he was the coolest minifigure, with his neon green transparent helmet and split-colored costume. I was also amazed at how his head was a skull, and immediately considered him a villain. Of course, this was before I found out he was a minion for Ogel, the antagonist of the Alpha Team theme.
>>
>>6109885
Chainsaws for tracks were used in the original arctic sets first i believe.

>>6109910
i think the speed champions wheels work a bit better than the standard city wheels. 6wide twoseaters require the minifigs to sit relatively high from the ground in order for the lower structure to work, wereas 1seaters can make clever use of the indented super low standard car-chassis pieces. 6wide twoseaters therefore have to have a pretty high roof two comfortable seat figures, the standard city wheels look a bit too small compared to this height. Speed champs wheels aren't that much bigger, but somehow "look" quite a bit bigger and make the proportions a tad more natural.
My main rule of thumb is that normal passenger cars need to have a low enough hood that minifigures standing next to it can look over it, wich works out pretty well but ofcourse can be limiting for some.

so im gunna take apart some sets and put them in a plastic bin, do i take part the minifigs or leave then together and throw them in the bin? will they get fucked over time if kept put together/weight put on them?
>>
>>6110202
Pics?
Sounds pretty rad
>>
>>6110472
I personally keep the minifigs in one piece, haven't noticed any form of bending on them as of yet, and they've been resting in a pile under other plastic for years now. Keep them together.

let me explain since there seems to be a little confusion as to what it is
pick a brick wall, you obviously know what that is, right?
well every few months, the lego store changes the bricks, and along with that, about 1/3 of them are changed to make a specific model, this link is past ones
http://brickset.com/sets/subtheme-Pick-A-Model

now that wall is entirely pick a brick, and from it, theres going to be parts to build a model (and put in a little bubble container, just like build-a-fig, except shaped to the model)
its something like... $5 maybe? i cant remember the price.

my store currently has the penguin, of which i wanted no mothers, yet could pick a brick the whopping 7 pieces (only one of which is as big as a 1x1, the rest are cheese slopes and plates)
that filled less than half the container, getting 80 of them, so i grabbed a handful of eyes from the wall as well
the rest was normal trans pieces, tree fronds, some white picket fences (i wish i got alot more, i might go back), seats, and those loose floppy train joints.

they also have (at least my store), i cant remember the name, but its like "expert or rare" or whatever bricks, usually just ones that arnt a common color, or its a weird shape. along with the penguin, there was sand green 2x1 bricks and plates.

its not a minifig, im not a whore
while its obviously a model, i didnt build a single one of the actual model. its also all the pick a brick wall anyway, its literally the center featured portion of it

the time monkey from time cruisers
seriously
i built put him everywhere
>>
>>6110472
they should be fine, but if they're holding anything weird that doesnt properly click, i would remove it

also take apart anything that uses trans pieces, like the ninjago ghosts. they wont get ruined most likely, but they might seize

I loved Exo-Force, but those hair pieces were fucking shit. They had no clutch power at all and often bumped into the mech canopies.

Give the pilots regular helmets and hard plastic hair and it's be golden.
