Think we'll see more Beast Wars 3Ps in 2017? I'd love to see them do some Transmetals or non-show characters that Takara probably wouldn't touch anytime soon. MP or Classics style.
I think the Transmetal aesthetics could work for 3Ps; the organic bits of the robot modes aren't significant in fiction so those don't have to be organically detailed. they could also be used to double as remolds for characters from other series, g1 or otherwise.

Fans Toys will probably be superior in terms of build quality and the silhouette revealed shows a more thick, stacked devastator like the original G1 design.

V2 has some redone G1 parts but it's still the lanky OX design I'm not fond of.

It's 450 bucks which is super cheap for all that plastic though. It depends how much you're willing to settle vs being patient.

The thing is that these were pretty fricking show accurate at the time. Mainly because they didn't have a choice. But I would never argue with getting more BW-MP shit.

Has anyone had any luck repairing the LEDs on Apollo? It kills me cause this is easily top 3 for me but my LEDs have all been dying.

I sent the head back to TFsource for repair and it broke again as soon as I got it back. Also, one of the chest LEDs stopped working as well so I'm at 1/3 of the LEDs working.

Looking more closely at it I think the LEDs are burning out because they aren't putting a current limiting resistor in...

I have tried taking the fucker apart but I don't have a screwdriver that can open the head and I have no idea how to take the chest assembly apart to get the LED bits out. I get as far as removing the arms and shoulders. Any help would be appreciated.

So I picked up CODE at my parents' house this past week while visiting for the holidays so he can pal around with all the new head masters. Maybe it's just nostalgia since he was one of my first third party figures, but man I still love him so much. He has such a compact bot mode with basically no kibble. He just turns into a straight up blocky robot with nothing hanging off of him and that transformation is 10/10 imo.

Unfortunately I just today found out XO-CODE exists and I like his colors a lot more.

the sculpt on him is too soft and mushy, IMO. Call me GEEWUN but I always prefer transformers to have harder edges but here, they're all rounded off and it looks like a totally different aesthetic. It doesn't look bad on its own but it ends up taking away from the alt mode where you see all of those rounded-off edges coming together and really emphasizes all of the seem lines.

So after several months of waiting, I finally order the hands/feet for CW/UW Bruticus.

The hands are great, but the feet are pure garbage. Left foot doesn't fit well on Swindle, and both feet had part of the gun barrels fall off. On the exact same piece on each foot. I take it this is a common problem.

I read that plastic cement is great if you want a really strong bond. Should I go for it or pick some actual glue instead of messing with melting plastic?

I guess I'll try pledge for the left foot's peg. Shouldn't have to mess with this shit, though. Goddamn UW Bruticus has been nothing but utter disappointment.

I disagree, at least on a figure to figure basis.

CW Bruticus for example was exactly the kind of figure I'd been wanting since I was a kid. I know the CW version is outclassed by almost every other 3P combiner on the market but the CW version was also about 1/3 of the price of most other 3P combiners. Not to mention I could actually buy the figures at retail which was a big plus. This is all subjective however, I'm sure I'd be all over warbotron if I could afford it.

Nah, a lot of the 3p combiners have problems out of the box that I don't want to fuck with or fix after spending 400-600 on a full combiner. At-least with cw its 5 figures with average articulation for about 100 plus 35 for a upgrade kit and saves me a headache over having a 100 dollar limb's joint bust or break.

It's good IF and ONLY IF you get the "Pure Red" version. The Metallic version flakes like a mother fucker and his head falls off easily. The "Pure Red" version can have some head issues too, but no where near as much as the Metallic one. I would watch some reviews. This is made by a company called KFC and they tend to have crapshoot quality control, so if you get a good one, it's perfect, but often you will get a fuckin turd. Thankfully the blaster figure is where their quality started to turn for the better (except the cassette bots which are all shit except rewind/eject)

I have the habit of taking a figure apart and removing the missed nubmarks.
I just went through with Ginrai's today.

I think it's because most of the comics take place in space nowadays so there's more futuristic vehicle modes. Personally I'm a fan of wheel shoulders, hood chests and tread legs. You know the kind of aesthetic found in older TF fiction.

But really it comes down to the artists I think moreso than a matter of preference. In my perfect world Geoff Senior would still be drawing transformers in that weird, almost watercolour style.

Some of the art for the old DW series were fuckin dope though.

Hey Skullface, why don't you try pulling it up all the way? There's a noticeable click when you pull it up all the way. It helps to open the cockpit when you get it partway up and then reach in and pull it up the rest of the way as it's easier to get some actual leverage from inside the cockpit than it is from the sliders on the sides.

I really got to hand it to Keith, I had some damage occur to two little tabs on my XTB Arkose (one due to tolerance issues, another due to me not paying attention) and he sent me two entire assemblies for replacement. Sent 'em personally too - and in a leftover Ollie box.

I know X-Transbots isn't the most respected 3P, but it's good to know you can get replacements for their stuff should it have issues.

I'm not even into MP anymore but I really like the look of this guy. I know Takara has to have this on the shortlist but I'm not sure how much better they could make theirs. Headsculpt and handsculpts maybe, but MT has the dynamic range and sculpt.

MMC's Titanika (aka: Not-Strika), look up a few reviews on youtube. The first thing to know whenever you buy any 3P thing is to look up plenty of reviews on youtube, and ask around the 3P general and stuff for peoples opinions.

What it boils down too is the scale of the figures. Look at GT's for example. Their team are slightly taller than MP car size which is correct. In order to reach the size of TW devy with out cheating they'd have to be the size of MP 10 or Ironhide which is too big. So in order to keep things in scale partsforming is almost unavoidable.

The Constructicons are supposed to be way bigger than the carbots. And even though MP-10 size would be a tad too big, who the fuck cares? What do you think most people want? Constructicons or Devastator? What form will be on most shelves? You can only have one mode correctly scaled and that mode must be the one that will be displayed by the most: combined form.
