>Were you guys just memeing this whole time

No. You just bought figures that very rarely have QC issues. All of my AvP body predators have been fine, same with my dog aliens.

Jungle hunter and city hunter bodies though? Broken elbows and loose limbs galore.
>>
>>6098501

Nah, these guys overblow any problems. You're fine.
>>
>>6098501

I haven't any problems with Clan Leader, but my Spiked Tail doesn't have a hole on his back for his Caster and his armor is loose. Dunno about Scarface as I haven't opened him yet
>>
what are you guys' thoughts on mantis? I opened him a couple minutes ago and while I'm very impressed how he looks, I'm a tad disappointed with the fact he can't stand for shit. It seems like its gonna be difficult putting him in a dynamic pose without the use of a stand.
>>
>>6098513

I love him. The green coloring, the silver "shading" really brings out the details. This Kenner alien wave and the last Kenner preds are a dream come true.
>>
>>6098425
Nigga we can clearly see how you hamhanded it. You forced that shit. Does anybody pay attention to the heating advice/shitposting?
I mean there's always so many arguments about it
>>
>>6098425
dude, I'm the same anon who posted the post above, and I felt his legs were stiff at the joint the second I opened him. When you feel his legs out you can tell if you move them too far out it'll break. Not trying to be a dick but its pretty obvious you wanted to see how the range of his leg movement and pulled it too hard, lol. Its fragile but not paper thin fragile. I'm not trying to make excuses for shitty QC but you should know this by now if you're a NECA collector that they're not exactly made for high playability. Reason why I made the complaint about his legs not being able to make dynamic poses due to his poor balancing. If he can't balance for shit what made you think you'd be able to do a 360 for his leg or whatever you did to break it. Its hard to tell seeing as you didn't give any details on how you broke it, like pretty much all anons do here for some reason.
>>
>>6098501
Any toy company has flaws ... Neca tends to have more because of the price point... Does that mean you should not get them? ... No absolutely not they are great toys ... But you may occasionally get a bad one ... Or one missing a piece
>>
>>6098525
couple posts above*

but yeah, I agree with >>6098524

Its hard to sympothize for you when you give no details whatsoever on how you broke it. Just saying "I broke muh toy" seems like you're just shitposting because we've already had that same exact post before 500000 times. Adds nothing of any substance to the thread.

>>
>>6098621

And there you go assuming again.
>>
>>6098605
That's true though. If the joint wasn't stuck in the first place, it would've moved, and wouldn't have broken under the pressure of moving it within it's intended range of motion.

We can't assume everyone knows everything about babying their new NECA figures. From my experience with their Godzillas, I'd never assume I'd have to handle their Aliens with such care. The Godzillas are so tough and move perfectly, but none of the other NECA figures I have even compare to them.
>>
>>6098625
Ah, the repeat gag. Real mature dude
>>
My Grid Alien's legs exploded as soon as I tried to make him crouch.
>>
>>6098641
Same thing happened with my AvP Warrior. Really badly designed system when the entire crotch is held together by one flimsy peg.
>>
>>6098641
>>6098644

I've got six AvP aliens, 2 grids, and now 2 glow in the dark AvP aliens. All of them are fine. You having a bad experience doesn't make it a bad system.
>>
>>6098646
Maybe you having good experiences doesn't make it a good system.

But maybe only your experiences count.
>>
>>6098640

Kind of like all the shitposting you're doing. If you want to talk "mature," you aren't it.
>>
>>6098651

You having bad experiences doesn't make it a bad system.

But maybe only your experiences count.
>>
>>6098656
What if you've only had good experiences but can still acknowledge it's a bad design?

I haven't had anything break on my in awhile but that doesn't mean I can't see how it easily happens.
>>
>>6098661

That's a logical fallacy. It's not a bad design, at all. It's a design that works. You breaking your toy doesn't automatically mean something's wrong. You don't get to make that decision.
>>
>>6098655
> "you're immature"
> yeah well you're immature

And you think you have any room to call other people shitposters? Wow
>>
>>6098670

Yes, good job. You've continued the pointless bickering and added nothing. Congrats.
>>
>>6098666
>That's a logical fallacy.

No, it's not at all. That doesn't even make sense.

> It's a design that works.

For you, me, others, yeah, sure. That doesn't mean it works in all cases or that it couldn't work better.

> You breaking your toy

I just said I've only had good experiences. I did not break my toy and assume that means something is wrong. If you actually bother to read the posts you respond to, you'd see that I don't have breaking toys on that mold, I've only had good experiences, and I still don't think it's a good set-up.

> You don't get to make that decision

Sure I do. Anyone can look at something, come to a conclusion, and form an opinion about it. You're doing it right now. You don't see anyone telling you you're not allowed to think something is good just because it works for you.

Think before you post some time. It'll make for a better thread.
>>
>>6098674
Weird I don't see you complaining about the post it responded to that did the same thing, or even your post that I'm responding to. I'm sure you'll whine about this one though.
>>
>>6098685

So you're determined to just add to the shitposting, is that it?

If you've got a better design in mind, you should draw it out and submit it to NECA. It's clear you have a better understanding of how things work than they do.

Here are my two cents on the issue.

The first predator I ever got was a spiked tail, and it exploded out of the box. (See pic related)

So I returned it the next day And got one of the AVP predators. I haven't had any problems with it so far but I don't think I'll be grabbing any others anytime soon
>>
>>6098685
That doesn't even make sense. I'm not here to argue like the rest of you, but there really isn't anything wrong with the setup. When you're dealing with these designs, it's what allows for the largest range of motion. I mean what do you want? A revoltech joint where it's a single flimsy pin in there?
>>
>>6098713
Yes, we remember you breaking your toy on purpose. You kept posting pics to create drama. Pretty unconvincing.

>>6099007
I was wary but bought a set of the recent Kenner preds and the Kenner aliens and the only problems I've had were a little scuffing on the Mantis' forehead and the right hand of Stalker Predator being prone to falling off if I try to move it (not broken but the peg is short and the gitd plastic is rubbery). Also Clan Leader's netting is kind of sloppy in spots but that's an ongoing problem and it's not that noticeable in this case. Other than that I'm actually pretty happy. I'm used to random QC shit like my Borg Predator coming with a piece of dreads missing from the back of his head.
>>
>>6099007

The quality's fine. You're giving in to a bunch of overblown trolls here on /toy/. Buy the figures, yo'ull be fine.
>>
>>6099029
People who aren't overblown trolls are still telling people to heat their toys up. It's like you didn't even read that post before replying to it.
>>
>>6099007
It just seems to mostly be a problem with the Alien and Predator lines.
I usually only buy the stuff like Terminator, Freddy, Jason, and other human-like figures. Not once have any of them broken on me and their joints have always been fine right out the box. Maybe a little stiff, but still workable with a gentle caress. I've had accessories break, though. Don't understand why NECA chooses to make weapons like the Terminator's minigun out of a soft rubbery plastic but then choose to make Jason's thin fence post out of stiff easily snapped plastic. That aside, the figures themselves are fine. Not once have I ever had trouble.

However when I finally bought an Alien figure one of the ankles snapped right out the box. Didn't take much longer for the other to snap too. Needless to say, I'm pretty hesitant about buying more of them now.
>>
>>6099031

Dude, quit being a sandy cunt. People have to heat up other toys too. It's like you don't buy anything else, ever. It's a normal thing to have to do.

>>6099044
It was the rereleased Big Chap.
Other than that, it's a damn fine figure. The broken ankles don't even bother me that much considering how little range they had in the first place but it still bummed me out.

I've been considering getting a Dog Alien because I hear it's one of the best Xenos out there, but I'd hate for that to snap somewhere too.

>It's something you have to do.

With Necas toys only apparenly.

Ive never had to hold a hair dryer over any other toy fresh out of the box hoping its arms dont snap off when I move them for the first time.

Its the plastic they use combined with the paint. For whatever reason NECA refuses ot use a nice hard plastic for their figures. They use this weird dense rubbery kind of plastic that almost has a bit of flex to it. It causes the joints to grip and hold poses really well, but it tends to stick and cause joints to break under the force needed to unstick it.

That combined with their paints often seeping into joints, or covering over joints and it just makes it worse.

The heating up thing works alot of the time, but sometimes even that doesnt work.

Tell me Anon. Which toys do you buy that have to be delicately taken out of the box, and then held under a blowtorch as you carefully turn and twist every joint as it heat up to the right temperature?
>>
>>6099095

DC Collectibles, Mattel, Hasbro, Sideshow Toy (and sometimes Hot toys), Figma, Revoltech, etc.

But you're probably a poorfag and can't afford things, so...

The only non-NECA figure I've ever had to use warm water or a hair-dryer on was from McFarlane's Halo line.

not that anon but I've gotten into the habit heating up joints on any and every figure that has a tighter than normal joint, and I've never had a figure, NECA or otherwise, break on me before I started doing this. It just seemed like a good thing to do in order to not break my stuff.
>>

Any one with the new Ripley and newt? The reviews I've seen the paint jobs look very muddy. Is it one of those things where it looks better in person?
>>

Reviews speak of the figure in person, Ghost Predator is a good example, most reviewers said it looks better in person because of the pearlescent color that doesn't show as much on pics, só if they say something look in a way they usually mean in person.
With that said, it's early to know for sure, se only have the pics for now.

>I've been considering getting a Dog Alien because I hear it's one of the best Xenos out there, but I'd hate for that to snap somewhere too.
I can vouch for the Dog Alien. I own a lot of Aliens/Preds and it's probably one of the most sturdy Alien figures I've bought, if not the most sturdy.

Unlike the Series 1-2 Xenos (I own two) later Xenos like the Dog Alien use softer plastic so they're less brittle while also having a bit more give to them. Beyond this, it also helps that the Dog Alien has a pretty lithe/skinny sculpt, so its weight is more centralized at the core which makes the joints at the base of its limbs less likely to loosen over time.

Contrast that with the AVP Xenos which, while being made of the same durable material, have heavier limbs thus are more likely to have loose hips over time. Admittedly, they're still the 2nd best NECA Xenos just behind the Dog Alien.
>>

>>
>>6101074
I don't know if it applies to the rest of the PacRim figures, I didn't buy them, but Gypsy Danger.

You might get her into a standing position you think is gonna work, and it might appear to for a wile, sometimes even a good few days, but sooner or later it's just gonna come toppling down off your shelf with no provocation.

Fortunately it's pretty solid and hasn't been damaged by any of its many shelf dives. But yeah.
>>
>>6101511
I'll give you that one, the one with the boat always fell on me. The ultimate version seems to have fixed the issue, and none of the others are as wobbly, besides crimson typhoon and cherno alpha, since I don't have those two.

Cherno is stable as fuck.

Honestly, other than the Pacific Rim monsters like Hardship and whatever and a couple Gremlin figures (mostly spider-mohawk), there are extremely few figure that need a stand. The Queen Alien and maybe the Isolation Alien thanks to his digitgrade legs. The dog alien I don't use a stand for since he's almost always on all fours.

And that's really about it.

>vast majority of Gremlins line (excludes Spider-Gremlin and Bat-Gremlin)
>Pacific Rim (excluding Hardship, Mutavore, Flying Otachi)
>all Planet of the Apes

Honestly, I could go on but I'm getting tired of listing the many, many, many NECA figures that don't require a stand. Of the literally hundreds of figures, only a handful need a stand,. and that's assuming we're not talking about shit people can't pose.

It's not a weird pastel blue, it's the color the actual creature was in the movie. There's been pics posted, even.

The paint on the one in the picture looks like the paint job on mine. Not trying to be an ass but is it possible you got a bootleg?

The promo uses a darker blue, and even in your crappy photo I can tell the tail and the body are two completely different shades of blue.

Another common problem with this figure.
>>
>>6102585
Well as you put it so nicely it's a crappy photo with crappy lighting but in person it looks like the paint job

A flaw's a flaw. People get super defensive whenever any criticism is brought up for this figure. Sure it's the best we got, but I wasn't blown away by it.
>>

I said mine did... I can't speak for yours ...

I'm sorry you're unhappy with yours ...
I didn't feel like I had a proper collection until I had her in my collection ... It's neca they usually have problems ... But like having an autistic child you love them despite their flaws

Well the original Kenner Alien and Predator figures never made much sense anyway. They were just toys to be toys.

I mean, how would a facehugger even work with a Mantis anyway? Nevermind how it would even move and whatnot.
>>
>>6102616
That looks really good actually. What's your problem?
>>
>>6102645
In my head canon I always imagined that it was some species of giant alien mantis that was impregnated

>I mean, how would a facehugger even work with a Mantis anyway? Nevermind how it would even move and whatnot.

I think the way Dark Horse comics handled it was that they were implied to be the result of the xenomorphs incorporating DNA from alien species that resembled Earth species due to convergent evolution or adapting to ther planets. Like the Rhynth in the Alien vs Predator comics, or the aliens from the scrapped RPG Aliens: Crucible. So the mantis alien would be the result of a facehugger impregnating an alien creature that resembled a mantis.
>>
>>6102575
What? Your picture compared >>6102556
shows off the exact point they were making.

I personally like it, but I knew exactly what they were referring to and I do occasionally wish it was darker.

It shouldn't be darker though. It's accurate to the prop. You're 100% wrong.
>>
>>6102668
is there somewhere online where i can read all the dark horse predator comics?
>>
>>6102680

This is going to get autistic, but who cares?

The prop was obscured by darkness and slime in the film, it looked much darker than what it probably was.

So do you want the figure to be technically accurate to the prop itself or accurate to it's appearance in the film? I'd rather it look like it did on-screen.

And regardless of anything, it STILL had a nicer mix of blacks and dark-blues in the promos.
>>
>>6102680
I'm not arguing that it's supposed to be darker or anything, calm down you spazz

I'm okay with that.
I just want monsters.
I like Pablo and Kelly, but I hate Ruby and Baal. I hate how they have characters on that show that are supposed to be supernatural but just look like normal people, it just does not feel like it meshes with Evil Dead for me. It feels like some cheap shit from that show Supernatural.

I'd buy Pablo and Kelly I guess, but I'd rather get like Deadite Cheryl or Skinless Baal though. Maybe Jacksonville Ash

God dammit, and I was so happy too. Guess i'm never buying Preds again until the Alien Masked one from that flop game comes out.

Super disappointed with this.
>>
>>6106771
just return the spiked tail for another and use the internet to find out where to put the "holster" on stalker
>>
>>6106771
Holster thing goes on the leg. Dunno what other purpose it has besides that, but yeah.

As for the Spike, just return it and get another one. I don't know if they're particularly hard to find in your area, but that doesn't feel like a piece that just falls off or something.

>>6106813
Yeah it sucks but the store is telling me I can return it. Gotta drive out fucking 30 minutes again though against traffic at this time.

I noticed that Stalker is hardly blacklight reactive, which is VERY surprising since every other GITD figure I own absorbs the shit out of it. I wonder how bright a light source it would need and for how long before it glows nice and brightly.
>>
>>6106827
I don't know much about GITD toys, but I remember seeing a review about Stalker saying you have to hit it with some sunlight to make him glow brighter
>>
where do you guys pre-order your neca toys?

also - who's excited for the Prometheus Lost Wave?
>>
>>6107215
BBTS mostly, occasionally dorkside but they're slower at receiving product. TRU can be good but it's rolling the dice with them, they like to fuck up orders or just outright cancel them.
>>
>>6102682
Readcomiconline.to is the best for that. Note: 99% of them are awful.
>>
>>6106806
Can you take a pic in not shit lighting?

Because it looks like you're trying to say the plasma caster is missing, which if it is, then fine. But that's not where the shuriken attaches anyway. I'll send a pic when I get home
>>
>>6106801
The holster thing is the hand cannon from Predator 2. It goes on the flat hand Stalker has.
>>
>>6098425
Im glad im not the only one that had a shit load of QC problems with kenner tributes. Mine are so loose that the arms just flop around from side to side. Mantis's legs are so loose he collapses under his own weight no matter how you pose him.
