Push peg out through the back of canteen (may need to remove canteen from belt or belt from figure entirely), put flat side of additional small black peg piece into the gap in the rifle, then peg into canteen slot.

They announced it as a sub-line consisting of reissues of all the Gamera Revos, then an additional newly sculpted G3 Gamera. But that was a few events ago so not sure what's going on with it. Legion came along so I'm guessing it's on track.

Don't know if there is any Gamera projects in the works to time an release with. It's all Godzilla nowadays.

> Don't know if there is any Gamera projects in the works to time an release with. It's all Godzilla nowadays.

SDCC 2015 they showed some test footage for an upcoming movie to celebrate the 50th anniversary. Kadokawa has been pretty quiet about it, though, since. There's no release date or anything.

I thought that WAS the celebration material, like that CGI Ultraman short. Sometimes they get uploaded by others as "trailer" when that short is it, so I forget which it was. Sometimes it is a proof of concept, if everyone loves it we might move forward deal as well so they say nothing at all.

Pretty much impossible. All the joints are big sturdy joints. Paint might be sticky since it's an old one, and I haven't checked mine in some time to see if this particular revoltech was one of the over used plasticizer figure.

If we must get more american comics revoltechs... I'll take Apocalypse or Thanos over Bane anytime.
>>
I've already placed my pre-order but one thing I'm hoping for is that Venom doesn't have any of the flexible, soft materials like the Metal Gear ones. I'm not a fan of how they eventually give way and rub off colors, especially for the ones with a sheen on them like Cyborg Ninja.
>>
>>6086813
Never, fuck DC
>>
Batman and Daredevil would be a great additions to the line.
>>
>>6088167
I'd suck so much dick for revo Apocalypse. We haven't really had a decent Apocalypse figure, there is the Toybiz BAF but it has silly looking proportions.
>>
>>6086813
If I twist this joint would you die?
>>
>>6088729
I liked the MU one but yeah it was 4 inch scale. Revoltech Apocalypse would work well because of all the weapon parts you could have to swap out with the arms.
>>
>>6088770
Very clickfully.
>>
Yamaguchi said on his twitter that Venom is made of the same material as Raiden and Cyborg Ninja. I'm reconsidering selling it. I love the Raiden revo but Cyborg Ninja scuffs badly on his hip parts, I really dislike squishy materials being used for major parts of the body.

I'm just wondering how durable Venom will be and how much of it is made of the softer material to let him pull off the poses where he's squishing his shoulders together and such.

I mean he's nice enough to have answered when someone else asked but I also wonder how this affects the figure for me.
>>
>>6091282
Again, I'm not entirely sure because parts of Raiden are solid plastic and parts like his lower torso and groin are made of softer plastic... I'm just being paranoid about a figure I was super excited for
>>
>>6091282
>>6091286
I don't see the tweet you're talking about, but yes you're being paranoid. In terms of material, every Revoltech, Mini, whatever are all made up of PVC for the body parts. The softness depends on other stuff you mix into them. That's my understanding anyways. So saying Venom is made of the same stuff is like yes he is made of plastic. I assume you asked specifically if it was the same as those two?

Venom should be similar to Revoltechs that came out recently so should be similar to Deadpool in terms of hardness of the PVC.

Also Minis in general were made cheaper so QC were not so good and were gummier up to a point.
>>
>>6091519
Never mind I see it now.

...Yeah he didn't really answer the question like you wanted him to. He just acknowledged it is the same, which to me doesn't sound like it's about the softness.

Yamaguchi says the hips are cut joints and knees are hinged as we knew already. And the ankles are ball jointed. I assume that means one of the joints used in the Minis that has a ball end. The ball jointed hips couldn't support the weight of Venom.

Being all hinges and no revo joints from hip to ankles is a bit disappointing for freedom of posing.

They show pics of the solid sculpts of G3 Gamera AND Iris in Figure Oh, so yes Revoltech Iris is confirmed.

I can't find a pic of the page but apparently it looks the same as the old Kaiyodo one, so here's a picture of that.

I'm curious how they will do the tentacles. Or include the flight mode at all.

I guess the reissues of Gamera Revos will go on as well.
>>
>>6094346
Also for the nonjointed sculpts Iris is about double the size of Gamera, but who knows if that will carry on to the final revo.

Gamera revos are smaller anyways so they might.

It's not a competition, people don't go and say yeah the guy who made the figure did that pose so you are worthless. He does post them also as a guide for people who don't know how to pose.

I wish more companies would do what he does, get a better idea of the toy more than the promo pics which can differ quite a bit from the final product.

It would be like MP Eva or Wolfwood to name some popular ones. Ultron's hips behaves like that as well despite using revolver joints.

Simple rotation at two points, at the hips and thighs, lets you position the legs. It's not that limiting, but there would be positions the legs can't go due to the angles of the cuts.

think this revoltech spidey will be better than the eventual figuarts? at least in terms of posing?
>>
>>6095670
Posing, likely yes. Figuarts as great as they want to be for poseability, they fall short at certain body areas most of the time. Neck, torso and shoulders usually suffers relative to a Yamaguchi style Revoltech. When the SHFs focus on posing like the Kinnikuman series they do rely on moving the joints away from the body to get greater range, and that tends to look very choppy in the end. And even then the torso joints were not that great compares to what the Revos usually achievers with a single joint.

Also SHF Spider-Man will be a movie one for sure so if you want to stick to a classic look the Revoltech will be the Japanese action figure to go for some time. Until other places copies what Kaiyodo did...

I think the transforming one works well in theory, except for the wings falling off easily. The 6mm joints were real shits then and with the proper joints they can be nice cheap VF-1s toys. They weren't that much of a partsformer like Gunbuster was. There were no white joints available but I might try it one day with all the extra AB joints.

Anyone here have the Vulcanlog Dark Magician? How is it? I like the design, and if it's decent enough, I may just end up grabbing the rest of the Yu-Gi-Oh ones.

Also, how's the quality of Vulcanlogs in general? I only own some older Revoltechs like Krauser, Yotsuba, Optimus, and Lupin.
>>
>>6098360
Solid overall though the only Vulcanlog issue I ran into was with Tigrex's tongue falling off the area where it holds on to very easily. Both Felyne's from Monster Hunter held up great even though holding the lance for one is near impossible for anything dynamic since the joints on the arms or hands can't handle the weight.

Sakamoto is one of those things that should've been passed over to as a figma. Venom is a solid release overall though the final release version has the eyelids or eyehole being wider than what was originally shown so he has this sort of 1000 yard stare. Ended up using warm-hot water to adjust this.

Can't comment on the other Vulcanlog figures.
>>
>>6098360
Dark Magician is great, best of the bunch. Articulates very well and easy to get expressive poses. Among Vulcanlogs I say DM and V Snake is at the top, but hey I like Yamaguchi Revos so I might be biased. Upcoming Hunter might knock out some of them from their spots.

Also to add for the Sentinel robots Vulcanlogs, simply not worth the price but good for like 5000 yen mark. Goshogun's wrists are garbage so posing with weapons is annoying. Baikanfu is way better in that aspect, but it seems there was a last minute change to the shoulder/bicep rotation, I think most were glued together maybe due to fragile pegs. I see many folks breaking it off thinking it will rotate. The shoulders works fine enough just with the revolver joints, ending up just like the articulation setup of Goshogun. They are both bigger than the old Revoltech robots too, much more so in the modern size standards.
>>

>>6098487
I've noticed that, Yugi and Dark Magician especially.

Wasn't sure if that was because of quality, or if people just don't like Vulcanlogs. I saw a lot of people on mfc complaining how Kaiba and Dark Magician weren't figmas. Fucking casuals.
>>
>>6098618
Vulcanlogs are just fine, people might be confused with the name change, and/or Union Creative simply overproduced them. And they made some weird choices in selection like 4 uniform variants for a baseball manga character.

As for Yugi, there was the figma and many went for that one instead I bet. For DM it was more due to it not being the classic design and hoping figma will eventually do that particular DM. Overall I think everyone didn't care for the movie versions.
>>
So hey, I don't buy many figures. Is it possible to pop out joins for the purpose of cleaning them or is that pretty much just gonna break the figure?
I know over time it's gonna get dusty.

For Revoltechs and VulcanLogs, as long as they are revolver joints you can take them apart no problem. They are just held in there by friction, and has no catch keeping them in.

For RevolMini, the joints besides the wrists are not really meant to be taken out, but since the pegs and balls are harder plastics compared to the sockets they are in it's not that difficult to take them apart either.
>>
>>6098726
yeah, the ball shaped ones are meant to be removable. infact it was originally the main point of the line so you can partswap and do cool stuff (the assemble borg line was the original idea but they went for licensed characters for fear of not being popular enough)
now there some that you shouldn't take out, like the ones from ultron's, venom snake's and deadpool's hips, since they might get loose.
just try to be careful

>>6098745
>>6098752

General Assemble Borg question. How often are they releasing new figures at this point? I know for a few years there wasn't much going on.
And are they kind of dropping the whole Microman-esque vibe with the clear bodies?
Final question is does anyone know of any other revoltechs/blank revo's that use clear bodies? Wouldn't mind trying to kitbash some of my own together.
>>
>>6101048
>How often are they releasing new figures at this point?
They just released the first new one in three years and there's no ETA on the others shown last August. They also re-released a good amount of the old ones a couple months ago and they're still in stock on HLJ.

>are they kind of dropping the whole Microman-esque vibe with the clear bodies?
They've been moving away from that since 2011 with the more monstrous/mechanical designs.

>re-released a good amount of the old ones
Technically it was just a clearance of their inventory stock, selling them to other stores than their own. So Nothing new was produced besides the Nexus ones.

>>6101048
Anothe clear body would be the very first Revoltech ever I believe, which was a yellow clear EVA-00 which they called the giant of light. It was a magazine mail order exclusive.

Also I'm seeing clear blue and clear purple TV EVA-00 and 01 too but not sure how they were released.

Oh and there were tiny ABJarknoids that came with some old Revos that had fake 6mm joints you needed to replace if you wanted them to move.

Have you read the manga? Its just Sakamoto making JoJo-style poses all day. A Vulcanlog or Revoltech seems pretty ideal for him.

I have but the Revo or at least the promotional shots just made the figure just not make his eccentric poses work for some reason. I enjoy revoltechs as much as the next guy but a figma of him will probably be a decent fit if they can work a decent ab crunch with his uniform sculpt.

I think he is the only VL besides the Sentinel ones that didn`t have Yamaguchi work on the articulation, so was a little off compared to the rest in terms of the joints setup. Well Sentinel ones are just copying Yamaguchi`s old mecha Revo so Sakamoto is really the only VL so far with zero Ymaguchi involvement. At least I think it is, I don`t have Sakamoto and the info on the box about the sculptor is the most accurate one. I think Beat and Arthur are like that too.

I wish they made all 3 getters for the original when they did the Renewal version of Getter 1. Getters 2 and 3 gets very little love. Include the separate jets in scale as solid display pieces with 2 and 3 and you pretty much have the best set of Getter Robos at a nice price point.

I'm excited for the Dino Getters, though Goshogun and Baikanfu were kind of flops...

Revo is superior to the Sentinel release since it has more than just the half open hands, no transforming I don't believe though. Dino Getter 2 was hardly articulated, so a Revo would be nice for him as well. Hopefully they get that far.

Baikanfu was okay. This Dino Getter would be much better since it looks like it fixed one of the biggest flaws of the first two vulcanlog mechs, and use the 6mm joints for the wrists.

Not a big fan of the designs though so I wish they will move on after 1 for this one...like 90% of Getter releases.

I`m not sure if the Sentinel vulcanlogs should keep going as it is. Either go for more mainstream stuff and get the price lowered, or something unique nobody else would make, which the Dino Getter is a good sign.

One cool thing they could do is make that Sentinel mascot robot, would be one of a kind and don`t have to pay up licensing fee so might be cheaper in the end. Another thing they could do is something nostalgic and popular others haven`t done recently, like the Eldran series robots so it can be mass produced and be cheaper.

Yamaguchi seemed to have hinted a new robot Revo so there`s hope of some return to the good old days.

>tfw just got first Revoltech fig

Tell me about these fucking joints. I'm constantly afraid of breaking them and my fingers are ready to bleed over it. Is this normal for Revoltech? Do you need to re-seat the whole peg to get a joint to move on another axis?
>>
>>6107365
What exactly is the problem you are having? The joint has two pegs on either end and you should function as swivels unless they are stuck. If they are try applying some heat or pulling it apart and re-assembling a few times until it loosens up.

To utilize the swivel you must hold the joint with one hand and swivel the parts with the other hand. They are fairly stiff and that's by design. You would have to use a lot of force to break these things because they are pretty robust joints.

>>

To swivel the joints properly make sure they are not in a straight position because then twisting either ends of the connecting body parts you can't control spinning the joint in the correct position. bend the joint a few clicks so the two pegs are on some angles, that way you have control over the direction of the joiht.

And yes if it's too tight just blast the area with hair dryer.

I'm guessing since it's a new fig the pegs are just incredibly tight, trying to swivel them by levering a joint at an angle causes them to look ready to snap. Takes a lot of careful force.

>>
>>6110986
>Still can't believe this is happening
Since Yamaguchi likes to keep making the same characters and he made the box figures of Spider-Man years ago, the chances were high. Macross, Getter, Gunbuster, DMC, Trigun, Evangelion, etc were all IPs he made figures for long before Revoltechs came along.

Still waiting on those Virtual-On, Jinki and DOA Revoltechs. Any day now. Such high demands. Joking aside female and fighting game Revoltechs should be more commonly made. Votoms came pretty close with the reveal of the nearly finished prototype sculpts which greatly saddens me.

Honestly I'm surprised it took this long to make another Spider-Man and Venom because it's such a hot property compared to the ones he hasn't revisited, and likely never will.

Everything will leak plasticizer after a while. How soon depends on the quality of the paint/plastic/sealant and the condition the figure is kept in. Soft/rubbery plastic and glossy paint are more prone to leakage so I'd only worry about their removable clothing parts. The matte painted parts should be fine, but there's no way to know until you open the box.
>>
>>6115379
Actually, it has nothing to do with the quality. It's actually based on the design, era, and research. Sometimes it's just purely by accident, since a lot of toy companies don't hire chemists/engineers to test how plastics/paints will react with one another or over time. So you can have a very high quality plastic that has been tested and a very high quality paint that has also been tested, but never together, and you end up with a sticky mess two years later.

I should also note that how your toys are stored also affects how the plasticizers will leak out and what effect they will have on your toy. Normally, plasticizers are released as a gas and disperse into the air. This is why most of the plastic stuff you own seems to have no leakage. With certain toys, paint/texture can slow the offgassing to the point where it will condense on the surface but also storing it in an enclosed area for too long can stop the gases from being released into the air and will instead settle back onto your toy.

Also, rubbery toys only seem more prone to leaking because they contain more plasticizers.
>>
>>6115505
>purely by accident,
I also think a lot of times the Chinese factories mixes in more plasticizers or go with cheaper analogs on purpose to skim money from their clients.

By quality I think anon means the softer, gummy plastic, which is as you said done so by having different substances mixed in to make it less brittle.

>>6105451
Even with Queen's Blade they made the change to harder plastics with later versions. Like the boobs on older ones were much softer even for the same character. They are aware of it so re-issues are usually okay.
>>
>>6115622
>Chinese factories
More plasticizers would be more expensive.
Alternatives might happen though.
>By quality I think anon means the softer, gummy plastic
Which has nothing to do with quality. Stuff like silicone can be very rubbery, yet won't leak plasticizers like vinyl does. Other soft plastics also don't have the problems pvc can have.

Maybe do one of these, although results seems clear-cut.

I put together the "new releases" of 2016. I threw the AB bike in there because I think it's under the new Nexus branding now, first time available at retail, and was reproduced for the release. Those other ABs were old production leftovers collecting dust in Kaiyodo's store so I think should be excluded.

I can't really decide which I like better, Venom Snake or Deadpool, but 3rd place goes for Mark 45 Iron Man then closely followed by Black Magician. I got most of the revos of 2016 but wasn't really impressed with anything else.

Which were your top favorites? Which ones did you get? What revoltech are you looking forward to the most for 2017? Assuming ones listed will come out...

Missed out on Deadpool pre-orders, unfortunately but I got one in for Spidey and Venom, so I'm stoked and looking forward to them as well as Beat.

?? Revoltechs always use the same joints so no shit. So you want the 4mm joints, they don't sell them or come as extra with anyone so you just have to get it off of other Revos. Also they haven't really changed in quality over the years either.

Sites like amiami lists how many of what joints are used in a Revo.

He's a fun little figure but a big pitfall he has is the fact he cannot hold his lance in many poses since the wrist and elbow joints barely hold it up. I recommend him but I found the Melynx (or the black cat) to be a little more posable.
>>

I know. I'm surprised that using the joints from the KT skeleton on the warrior skeleton fit 1000x better than the ones the warrior skeleton actually comes with

That's just the margin of error so to speak of the pegs and sockets. Reshaping with heat should have the same effect.

We knew about the revo joints in the shins for a while, and the beauty of it being a revo joint you could just not touch it and it will stay straight. Or did you want it to be a smooth joint?

I read before that the ankle joints are suppose to be ratchetless but not mentioned in the review here.

Now that claw arm stand is the norm I wish they didn't put the 3mm hole right on his back symbol though. If the red paint I have is close enough I might plug it up with 3mm plastic stick with a red tip.

Did someone ever made Spider-Man figures with magnets in the hands and feet, like Microman used to do? Seems like a no brainer.
>>
>>6126183
>Or did you want it to be a smooth joint?
I was hoping for a balljoint like deadpool's hips. As stiff as revoltech joints are, there's always a little give to them, which could get compounded when you have three of them from the knee down. As long as it works though, I don't really care.

>Did someone ever made Spider-Man figures with magnets in the hands and feet, like Microman used to do? Seems like a no brainer.
I'm pretty sure one of the pre-marvel legends toybiz spideys did. Also one of mafexes, it came with a metal diorama type display.

Toy Biz made more than a few Spider-Mans with magnets, some of which came out after the ML line existed.

Stitch was well made, just wished it had ray guns or the alternate red suit version. They tend to do multiple versions for the cute characters stuff it feels like a missed opportunity.

Anyone have any suggestions to tighten deadpool's eyeholes? The yelling face is fine but none of his eyes will stay securely in the regular one. I've tried pledge but it didn't seem to work.
>>
>>6130489
Heating the whole head with the eyes in sort of works for me, but since I have extra and didn't want to lose the default eyes I just glued them in for now. Thickening the peg with glue should work too, but it's all so small with very little contact area I know it's just a matter of time before you notice the eyes are missing and have no idea when or where it happened.

They really should improve the hold power on those pieces if they want to continue this feature.
>>
>>6130543
That same thing happened to me, I was putting his swords away after I took some pictures and I noticed he was missing an eye. Took me 5 minutes of searching around the floor to find it. I was thinking about gluing them in since I rarely use the feature, but fuck me, that feels terrible.

I'm hoping he gets it together on spider man.

Frankly I'm surprised it hasn't happened yet. An anime and a game just came out, and the manga is coming back out of hiatus sometime soon, so it's not like Berserk isn't popular. And it's not like there's much competition in the 1/12 scale besides the older figmas, which are all overpriced as fuck right now. I think the 1/6 scale stuff is also pretty expensive.
I guess we can keep an eye out at WonFes; I don't think Yamaguchi's line is exclusively American comics anymore.

Also holy shit think of all the weapons they could pack in there if they went all out.

>>6138786
I don't mind it. I think people just associate the introduction of magic with the hiatus, since Schierke joined shortly before we got on the boat.
But yeah, we haven't seen anything really fucked up since like the Kushan birthing machine. Granted, we've just been sailing around for a while, but I do expect shit to go down at Elf Island.

>>
>>6106363
>>6139523
We've been over this again and again for years now. For the final time--

Canceling at Amiami is a crap shoot. Maybe you'll get lucky, maybe you won't. We used to think it was tied to things like how often you shopped there, how much you spent, and how polite you were, but then we had some incidents that clearly didn't follow that example. The only thing we know for CERTAIN is that Amiami frowns on canceling preorders. Maybe you'll go your entire toy-buying career being able to successfully cancel things, or maybe the next time they'll ban you and blacklist your credit card and address.

It's Russian roulette, basically. You can spout all the "but I never got banned!" stories you want--you never know what's coming with the next pull of the trigger.
>>
>>6139514
Cool, thanks. The text does make it sound like all the Gamera reissues will go as planned. Fairly poseable Iris would be a fun toy.
>>
>>6139396
>I don't think Yamaguchi's line is exclusively American comics anymore
They said day one in promo material that they intend to do non Amecomi stuff.
I think Yamaguchi is working on some robot now so that's most likely not American.

On Berserk, I guess. I think I didn't like it as much because it became too Shonen manga with all the companions. Maybe someone at Kaiyodo dislikes Berserk, or don't want to step on IP figma is doing because the CEOs know each other well. For instance the big properties they don't care but more niche stuff they leave each others alone?
>>
>>6139625
and? nothing you said contradicted my post.
>You can spout all the "but I never got banned!" stories you want
and conversely, you can spout all the "they banned me after one cancellation request!" stories you want. '9/10 chance' is a stupid statement to make when evidence exists to the contrary. many people have cancelled multiple times and still haven't been banned.

crap shoot, "maybe", russian roulette etc etc =/= 90% certainty of being banned.
>>
>>6139777
>crap shoot, "maybe", russian roulette etc etc =/= 90% certainty of being banned.
Fair enough, since I wasn't the one who said the 90% statistic in the first place. That Russian roulette post was my first post in the thread.

>>
>>6139829
My post was directed just as much as him as it was at you though, even though I didn't directly quote him. Look back at it, I didn't validate his percentage claim in any way, I simply said that past examples have proven that there are no rules and you are taking a leap of faith every time you cancel something.

tl;dr: I didn't side with either of you.
>>

>>
>>6139831
I didn't imply you were siding with anyone either. And again, nothing you continue to say contradicts my posts. You just waded into the middle of something and regurgitated shit using your keyboard, as if you're imparting some grand knowledge that the people you're directing it at don't already know it.

Again, all I'm saying is your posts don't validate or invalidate anything and are irrelevant to what I said as I was addressing a stupid '9/10 chance' claim.

>>
>>6142674
Mini games paints are the best in the industry, so you're good with what you have.

Just be sure to seal it with a clear coat afterward, because you will be handling the figure much more than you would with a mini.
>>
>>6142759
If you heat up his face and then squeeze top to bottom around the eye, it'll give him a little bit of a squint and hold in place. His eye is too wide out of the box, he has a thousand-yard stare.
>>
>>6142547
>>6142674

I use a mix of artist acrylics. Cheaper than the hobby stuff and one tube / bottle lasts forever.

Mr Super Clear is my choice of sealer.

>>6142759
>>6142776

Yeah I did the eye squeeze. I also pushed in the sides of his head so it isn't so squared. Makes his face more elongated and looks more like the game model.

So many cool monsters.

Also, gotta have a Buster Blader.
>>
I got the Raiden revoltech, but his shoulders and hips are so stiff I can't put him into any cool action poses. When I tried moving one of his arms, the joint actually popped apart. It took a while to jimmy it back together and I've given up on trying to do anything with his arms.
>>
>>6143988
That's really weird, I own both color versions of him and I haven't experienced either of those. Can you go into more detail about joints being stiff? The hips are the standard joints they've used for ages, and the kind on the shoulders are too loose, if anything. Do you mean the actual ratcheting part of the joints (the clicky part) are stiff, or where they go into the socket and swivel? A little heat will fix that last one.

And I've had joints pop apart, but only on the really old ones.
>>
>>6143988
I suspect a lot of your difficulty is because the pegholes are still very tight and not broken in yet. Pull the figure apart and use one of the bigger, sturdier joints (like say, a knee or hip joint) bent into an L shape to sort of "break in" all the pegholes. Stick the peg into each hole and rotate it around to loosen them up some.

Unless you're talking about the clickiness when you say "stiff." In which case, that's just how Revoltechs are.
>>
>>6144002
It's the swivel where the joints are attached to the parts(into the arm and into the shoulder/trapezius).
>>
>>6144007
Ah, all right. Thanks.
>>
>>6144010

If you're in some kind of frigid winter that may be messing with your plastics too. Lubricate the joints with some shock oil or stick grease.
>>
>>6144014
What you should really do, and this comes up too many times, is heat blast the area with the joint pegs onside the holes.

Turn the joint peg where you feel the most resistance, and then blast it with hot air or hot water. The softer plastic hole will reform to the harder plastic of the joint peg, making the movement smoother.

If too loose, do the same thing with the joints out, will expand the plastic of the hole.
