Well to be fair he's a super robot with a combination gimmick, you don't want that slathered in paint that could chip off when you're playing around with him when he's so fun.

Basically this >>6083609, the last thing someone wants is painted area that's going to scrape due to the design, so people will avoid touching the toy.

A good example is Hasbro Highbrow's knees. They arms tab into the knees, but the knees are painted so they'll start scrapping after a few transformations.

Managed to snag a Gnaw on Amazon. Legends have weird distribution, so it's nice to get that out of the way.

I just hope they list Optimus and Megatron soon, since I'm sure the first voyager wave of the year might be skipped due to shelwarming Alpha Trion's and Astrotrain's.

For those who ask for the other mode on last thread, here it is.

I kept the stickers on the windshield for prime, they look rather OK.
Be putting the Con stickers on Prime's shoulder, Autobot logo on Megatron's chest, and mail the stickers to Hasbro during lunch time.

And for the robot mode, they looks almost exactly the same stickers or no stickers.

They skip the second one? That's weird. It's normally the first due to shelwarmers from December.

The only time this happened to me was after the Rhinox voyager wave. We didn't get any new voyagers until Combiner wars, and it's not like that wave shelfwarmed, they simply didn't restock, no one did.

Saw Alpha Trion labelled for $14.97 yesterday, but it rung up as $29.99 and that's what the system has it for apparently. Didn't know about the policy to have them honour the lower price, and apparently I can have $10 from the price removed as well. So I could in theory get Alpha Trion anywhere between $5-15, provided that it's still there.

Should I bother making the trek tomorrow? If it's not there, is there any way of getting a rain check or something similar?

It's kind of like what happened with Combiner Wars.
They only started stocking Generations with T30 but it was only the deluxes, when Combiner Wars came they seemed to have skipped Optimus and Motormaster because I've never seen those two at retail. Superion was alone for a while and Cyclonus often shared shelf space with Hot Spot. Scattershot, thankfully, never appeared here and currently Sky-Lynx and Onslaught are shelfwarming hard.

Any toys specifically that you could recommend which look good in this "layered plastic" technique. I don't want to call bullshit, but bare plastic pretty much never looks as good as paint. I'm not saying EVERY figure needs to be drenched in paint from head to toe, but, you know, all the earlier MPs managed a fair amount without the horrific jeopardy of chipping. I understand when paint is used sparingly in areas with a lot of friction, but there has to be a point where you draw the line between that and being cheap.

Also this is interesting, looks like an insert into LG chromedome's manual about the headmaster connection.

Its odd, all this time I've found plugging them in with the headmaster head in the same direction as the main face but it looks, LOOKS like its telling you to do the opposite with chromedome.

For a mix of reasons. It's popular to have and use on other boards. It has been used quite a lot both by Hasbro and Takara over the years. Every movie year that mold shows up in some shape or form. this has lead to it being very common so scrutiny comes with it. We also have dozens on dozens of other Optimus Prime molds including MP 10 so the bar is set rather high.
That all said the hate could just be the handful here on /toy/ even 200 post in we only have 63 posters and I can tell you 3+ are likely just me where I have been posting from home and work as well as a friends house so the hate you are seeing could be just a niche of decent and not any number that the community at large would note.
