Blogposting and a PSA. I'd advise against buying from Hobby Hunters on amazon or any marketplace if you see them. They stuffed the Sirbine into a narrow and wide shipping box and the RD packaging got fucked up. It's a tight fit even with the packaging crushed as shown in the picture and they didn't even put any padding in, I'm guessing they expected the tightness to keep it from moving.

No response Amazon or Hobby Hunters after a few days, and I'm wary Hobby Hunters will try to pull something if I just return it right away.

Oh, and fuck Amazon preorders. I had this thing preordered with them and they were nearly a month late by the time I cancelled it, 0 updates.
>>
>>6077878
Amazon has been really shitty with their packages lately. Good thing I am not an anal MOC collector, but my Marvel Legends have been stuffed in some stupid bubble wrapper, and the box was squished to hell.

You either get those or the Toys R Us box of AIIIIIIR.

I don't think it's Amazon themselves, just the marketplace sellers who are shitty. Amazon usually sends me oversized boxes filled with those airbags, and they seem to work alright for the most part.

These guys just stuffed it into one of those USPS flat shipping boxes.
>>
Not sure if this is the right place to ask but how are the Code Geass in action offshoot figures?
>>
>>6077885
I have a few, Zero's Burai, Todo's Burai Kai, and the Gloucesters.

The biggest problem is that their elbows use C-clips and their kept falling off if you turn the elbow or just simply due to gravity.
Common problem amongst the in Action stuff with their outdated engineering.

If you can get past that point, they are ok. I would recommend the Gloucesters over the Burais.

This looks great and all but can we please, PLEASE be free of the fucking stupid hardpoints system.

I'm tired of seeing great figures just riddled with holes like it isn't an eyesore
>>
>>6078088
I haven't opened it. I contacted the seller about the problem and I don't want any accusations about me tampering with it when I return it. Once it's settled I'll probably just pay more to buy it from somewhere more reputable than an amazon marketplace seller. Still, this shit really rustled my jimmies. I probably won't be able to get a new one until sometime in January even if I order a new one now, what with the Christmas shipping pileup.

>>
>>6077885
If you want Code Geass figures, they're the only option for some robots. They scale well with the RD. Always get the RD though, only buy the IAO if you have no other choice.
>>
>>6077878
Well Amazon live-chat told me not to worry about the return and that they'll facilitate it or w/e. Glad it's over, seemingly. But shit, it's really pissed me off.

Is the Sirbine even worth the money? It looks beautiful but I'm beginning to second guess it after this.
>>
>>6077878
>>6077884

Most of my Amazon packages come in a huge box with two air pillows. I will order a $2 back of buttons that will come completely wrapped up but a $70 action figure will be knocking around loose with no padding. Go figure.
>>
>>6078110

You're returning it just because of the box? I mean I agree with you on principle but it's just a Damashii box.
>>
>>6077885
>>6077982
>>6078149
I really hope that with the new anime and compilation movies, they decide to dip back into Code Geass for RDs.
>>
>>6078097
Figure out a better way to mount weapons. Magnets typically look even worse at this scale and generally don't work all that well either.

I agree I'm not a fan of the peg holes on the shields used simply for explosion effects but the majority of them are there because there's really nothing else that can be done about mounting weapons; a zaku that can't holster it's heat hawk or bazooka is stupid.
>>
>>6078303
It looks worse in person I think. I'd like to take the risk of opening it up to check but I've bought stuff that arrived damaged and the seller wouldn't take it back because I opened it up. Besides principle, I just don't want to get fucked over by a shitty seller and go through chargebacks or some shit.

Amazon's always been good about damaged stuff but I usually don't buy from their marketplace unless it's fulfilled by Amazon. In this case it's not fulfilled by amazon so I don't want to take a risk.

Also, I usually keep the boxes, but just for storage.
>>
>>6078327
>It looks worse in person I think. I'd like to take the risk of opening it up to check but I've bought stuff that arrived damaged and the seller wouldn't take it back because I opened it up. Besides principle, I just don't want to get fucked over by a shitty seller and go through chargebacks or some shit.
You made the right decision. A lot of sellers try to catch people in catch 22 scenarios like that. It looks a little like this:
1. Seller refuses to take back item because it's "just box damage" and wants you to open it to find out if it's broken.
2. If the toy is broken seller refuses to take back because its "open merchandise", forces you to make claim with USPS.
3. USPS denies claim because the packaging isn't sufficient to protect the merchandise. Seller knows this.
4. You get fucked up the ass and the seller gets to keep your money for something 100% their fault.

If something arrives damaged it's always best to just send it back without opening if that's an option. Ideally it's always best to contact a seller first and get an explanation on how they will pack an item. If they refuse to answer chances are their customer service is shit and you don't want to buy from them anyway.

>>6078303
Some toys are more fragile than you think and the packaging won't protect them as well as you hope. There are plenty of examples I could bring up. If the dude paid full price for Sirbine I wouldn't want to take the chance either.
>>
>>6078097

>>
>>6078530

>>6078116

they have more features than HG??? I've never bought a RD but am about to get the ingram. I've only built HGs and 1 RG, the Zaku II, which I do love but just want some RD Zakus.
>>
>>6078530
>>6079490
Well Hobby Hunters is telling me they'll accept it if it's new and for me to pay for return shipping apparently. Time to complain to amazon again
>>
>>6078097
The ANIME figures don't use th Hardpoint system. They do use something similiar but if you try to plug a Hardpoint accessory into an ANIME it wont work, the ports are shaped differently.
>>
anyone remember the fix figuration line? I saw a friend who had a Dom from that line and it's gorgeous, it does use a different finish or material.

what is the diff between that and RD? It does also seem to come with a lot more accessories and have a more detailed paintjob. Is that line still alive or has it been inactive or replaced?
>>
>>6081224
It was Katoki Hajime's pet toyline so he could stuff as much paint apps, tampos and accessories as he wanted. The sheer amount of paint also means that there's a lot of chances for the paintjob to fuck up, and it's sometimes hard to find a set with perfect paintjobs. Articulation wise, they were quite limited compared to RDs. Overall they are more of static display pieces then figures for you to mess around with.

Bandai consolidated all their action figure lines into Robot Damashii and FIX was succeeded by RD's Ka. Signature premium subline.
>>
>>6081224
>>6081265

All true but the Zeonography Doms in particular were rugged and awesome. Some of the best things to come out of the whole line, maybe.
>>
>>6081265
Also most of them come with parts to turn it into an entirely different figure, for example the GM Sniper has parts that make it a real color type Gundam, the Blue Destiny turns into unit 2 etc. It's a neat idea but because everythings meant to switch out it causes problems like legs being loose/falling apart at the knee joint and things of that sort. It's not rare to have an entire arm or leg fall off while trying to pose a figure, even with the Zeonography line, although the Rick Dom doesn't have this problem.
>>
>>6081265
>>6081859
>>6082309

To be fair 00 was a big hit when it aired, G-Reco and IBO both have quite a mixed reception. S2 of IBO has been a big improvement over S1 though and G-Reco is getting compilation movies so hopefully we get some more shit for them then.

Im in Singapore. By 2011~2012 you could still see shelves/stacks/piles of 00S2 RDs at the Bandai distributor's clearance sales or toy fairs. They eventually managed to clear most of them out at like 60~80% off the MSRP. Same thing if you check online Hongkong/Taiwan based retailers at that time.

After AGE (which also shelfwarmed badly), they brought in RDs in lesser quantities.

Not the same anon, but I want to know about Drei. How's the articulation? Can it hold its weapons? Playability?
>>
>>6089906
Articulation and playability is pretty great on all of them that aren't Nicht or Funf. Those are really finicky and better off just as display pieces.

Surprisingly holding the weapons isn't an issue despite the size. The only limitation would probably be an inability to hold the lances or sword pointing up between a 90 and 180 degree angle due to the weight. Straight up is fine. Balance is excellent, Sein can stand on one leg. Seiben, Sechs, Sein, Zehn, and Neun have and extra joint in the middle of the foot that you probably won't use. Zehn and Neun also change the hand pegs to be slightly longer to make it less of a total bitch to swap hands.

Tamashii Stage Act 4 (Pictured) and Act 5. You can get them on any import site (AmiAmi, HLJ, etc) but Amazon has them too. Act 4 is meant for humanoid figures like Kamen Rider Figuarts but they work fine for RDs as well. Act 5 is made for heavier figures and feature ratcheted bases for extra stability. They cost around the same amount of money and come with 3 stands and 3 sets of different arm types, as well as little doodads to connect the stands together.

I've had nothing but the most ridiculously good luck when it comes to these figures. I found the dom in a used figure store in Akhi for 3000 (or 3500) this past summer. Then today my friend calls me up to tell me that he's in a fucking thinkgeek store and they're selling the rx78 and chars zaku II buy one get one free. I sent him $50 and now I just have to wait to meet up with him at the end of the week and collect my merchandise. Maybe the gouf will fall into my hands in some ridiculously fortuitous way as well. Pic fucking related, I'm very excited.
>>
>>6091749
They're actually pretty good. The provided arms aren't as strong as the Act 5's IMO, but you can use the base itself (especially if you have multiple) to brace for heavier objects.

You can also get some really good scenes going with them.

It's slathering the guncannon with its love foam, which the guncannon will then fertilize and carry in pouches in its legs. After about four weeks the young will hatch in their Acguy state, and the guncannon will feed them pre-chewed bits of zaku.

Every once in awhile an amazing figure like the Drumlo or Sinanju or tan Scepter or Tallgeese comes out that is solid, looks great, and has tons of little features. Then you'll have a lot of stuff that is kind of flimsy and translucent looking.

The line is better than it has ever been, but I agree outside of the very popular (and thus inexpensive) stuff most of the figures are not worth what they are charging, but I could say that about most japanese toys these days; the prices just keep going up, nevermind the extra gouging with webshop exclusives. >>
>>6097611
I doubt Bandai will ever do another cheap 'n' good action figure line like MSiA.

They know that poorfags in asia, including kids, will opt for the cheaper model kit equivalent if they want an action figure. (Even if westerners don't want to acknowledge gunpla as toys)
>>
>>6097779
I recall MSIA having sloppy molds and hit or miss detailing, given it was cheap as dirt.

I build gunpla too, which is probably why I'm autistic about the damn imperfections. Besides being able to easily finish and paint it yourself, since gunpla uses a lot of polystyrene, the molding is impeccable and I don't thing I've ever seen and flaw on and modern gunpla that wasn't recalled.

>>6097729
I'd like to collect MBs but the ones I want get snagged too quickly and aftermarket prices are obscene imo. They look good but not > $300 good. I wasn't following it too closely so by the time I heard of the MB F91 scalpers were taking pre-orders on facebook for their preorders

>>
>>6098116
IMO hunting down a good deal on the figures are half of fun of collecting, every now and then you find a good catch like the blue frame on HLJ popping up suddenly like this thread mentioned.

speaking of scalpers, there's no worse than Bandai it self with the web exclusives. The last few RDs I've been wanting to get has been exclusives (Char's Dom, OG color Gundam). But there's no way I'm paying close to 100 shipped for a tiny plastic figure.
>>
>>6098575
A middleman can get it to you for a little more than the MSRP with international shipping.

I got a P-Bandai Master Grade Banshee Norn for around $82 shipped a while ago. The shipping was about $18 for Chinese air or whatever the equivalent of their SAL is, which was decently quick.

>What is everyone's thoughts on Gundam conerges? What is a good price to pay for them?
They're pretty nifty little display pieces. They actually have some nice detail on them, but the paintjobs can be hit and miss since they're just cheap shokugan toys. As for price, I wouldn't pay more than 1000 yen for a single standard Converge. The bigger ones like Dendrobium and Neue Ziel will be at around the 3k mark. But in the end it depends on how much you think they're worth to you.

Oh cool! Though it wasn't my favorite, I did enjoy M7 as well. Hope you're able to snag a Fire Valk soon! Be sure to keep an eye on Mandarake as they used to list them pretty regularly at fair prices, though a quick search shows that they're currently all sold out.

>And so begins my slippery slope into Macross, this is going to ruin my wallet.
I wish I could say something in response to that to make you feel better, but I got nothing, haha. It really is pricey, though the revival of the Hi-Metal line is giving us a more affordable (but still great looking!) option. On the other hand, the lower pricing encourages me to buy way more than I normally would, so it ends up about the same, haha.

It's worth it though! Macross toys are so dang fun; you can swoosh them, you can pose them, and they have a mode that lets you do both at the same time!

>>6097533
Agreed! The Glaug is superb, as is the Regult. Looking forward to the Regult variants to fill out my Zentran squadron.
>>
>>6097533
Actually, I can confirm the opposite. I just sold off all of my Hi-Metal R's since I didn't really like the line too much. The Glaug and the Battlepod were neat, but the VF's....

I think Yamato/Arcadia has spoiled me, but the amount of parts-forming you have to do on those figures is a huge turn-off. Landing gear, cockpits, wings, etc...

If you're into models or static posing their great, but they really don't have much play value.

I do feel pricing is getting inflated (particularly for exclusives... which unfortunately have made up the bulk of my recent RD purchases), but I'm still pretty happy with where we're at. RDs are larger and more intricately engineered than they were earlier in the line. Furthermore, the ANIME line is great and the Patlabor line is off to a fantastic start, and I felt pricing for both was actually relatively reasonable.

>>6097611
Very well put, anon.

>>6099172
Love 'em! They're fun toys to have on the desk. But as >>6099303 said, definitely don't pay more than 1K JPY for the regular releases. I think ideally you should only be paying around 500JPY each, maybe an extravagant 800JPY for a rarer release, haha.

I can certainly understand being turned off by the parts-forming if you're used to the larger valks (though you don't have to swap the wings for any transformation). I don't mind swapping a couple parts as that's basically what we do with RDs anyways (swapping hands etc.) myself, but I strongly disagree about their lack of play value.

Hi-Metals lean far more towards being toys than any of the larger options do thanks to their smaller size and lower complexity. The Hi-Metal's smaller size is just so much easier to handle (also lets you get a lot more valks into a space, haha), and the simpler design means there's far less that can go wrong during handling/transformation. This makes me much more inclined to play around with them than any of my Yamato/Arcadia valks or DX Chogokins.

Additionally, with the Hi-Metal line you actually get in-scale Zentradi for them to tangle with! That in itself is a huge plus for the Hi-Metal's play value. Conversely, a single 1/60 Regult will set you back several hundred dollars, while also requiring the modelling experience to put it together, as I believe it was a resin kit (the Yamato one, at least), not to mention the considerable space it'll take up!

I guess it just depends on your definition of what play is for a Macross toy. If you get the most joy out of the transformation, then yeah, go with the 1/60 scale. If you want to stage battles on your desk, the Hi-Metals are where it's at. I like both, myself!
>>
>>6099429
Yeah I'd agree the hi-metals have much more play value. I love the Yamatos I have but they're display pieces more than they are toys. I don't fiddle with them in the same way I do a lot of other lines; I transform them then stick them back on their shelf. They're just too big and honestly too fragile to mess with.

The hi-metal isn't perfect but its still the closest we're probably ever going to get to 'toylike' outside of the 80's takatoku.
>>
>>6099366

The partsforming is a little annoying, but I can't really say I mind that much, and I say that as someone who owns Yamato 1/48th and 1/60th figs as well. With most of my Macross stuff it IS putting them in static poses, or getting the urge to fiddle with them every so often. I'm not constantly swooshing them around the house or anything. Plus having a Glaug in the same scale, let alone a Monster, is pretty damn high in their favor.

>>6099429

Is right in that they're toys far more than high-end $200+ collectibles. To that end they succeed wonderfully. The days of getting 1/60 scale valks at $100 is long gone, after all, but I'm quite content to settle for 1/100s of Good Enough(tm) quality and some concessions for size and cost. On top of that their smaller size can itself be an asset, as it's far easier to find room for a bunch of 1/100s compared to 1/60s or 1/48ths.

Which of these should be the next priority to get from most to least?

Qubeley
Guncannon
RGM-79
Ingram-1

I don't have the Ingram but of the other 3 my favorite is the Qubeley. I like it enough I will probably even buy webshop exclusives of the mk2's if they make them.

The Guncannon and GM are certainly more technically impressive though. It doesn't have any fancy engineering, its just a solid, non-fiddly figure.

Good decision anon.

I'm still fighting with Amazon over this stupid thing. I sent the return back and Hobby Hunters won't pick it up from their PO Box, so Amazon's A-to-z support is just giving me the run around, telling me to wait while they contact the seller, which doesn't seem to be happening.
>>
>>6100761
The Qubeley is pretty damn amazing and unique, I have to say. I don't have personal experience with the other three, but I haven't heard an unkind word about them either.
>>

I might, depends on if it goes on amazon. I'm not too keen on the blue one to be honest.
IIRC I saw like a promo image with all the different colors but I've not seen any actual products. The only ones I can find for purchase are Villkiss, Enryugo, and Cleopatra. Apparently Hysterica got one but it's website exclusive or something.

IMO Guncannon but I'm a UC fanboy. You can't really go wrong with the GM either, although excluding new toy bias the Guncannon is probably the better figure.

Last year (or the year before) Bandai had a no-photos-allowed display of prototype Hi-Metals that included everything from Macross II's VF-2SS to VF-0s from Macross Zero, and way back when the original Hi-Metal line was still going they showed off a prototype YF-21.

With how strong the Hi-Metal R sales have been, I'd say we've got a pretty darn good chance of seeing the line expand past Macross/DYRL!

>>6100761
As the other anons have said, you really can't go wrong with any RD from that list. If you have a favorite mecha design among that list, I say get that one first. If you love them all equally, I'd recommend the Ingram-1 or Guncannon. Not only is the Ingram a lovely RD, but it also seems to have the highest likelihood of selling out before the others do (in fact it's sold out already at AmiAmi). And you get a command car to roll around too!

As for Guncannon, I think you can still order the one that comes with the first run bonus, so that'd be worth grabbing now while it's easy to get.

How is the MB Astray Amatsu?
>>
>>6104746
>>6104754
Fafner, Code Geass, Wataru, Cross Ange, FMP, Eva, and probably Vifam (nothing left to release aside from Dillfam and Muller's thing) are all dead lines. The scope of the line has been reduced significantly in the last couple years.

Which is baffling because Code Geass, Eva, and Fafner sell well and have ongoing projects. They really need to be brought back. I'd much rather see the line branch out again in subject matter instead of starting to put out even more high end version of robots it already did. Metal Build already has that market down well anyway.

It is interesting to not that Max Factory's model line is starting to put out kits designed to fill gaps left in the Wataru line. I hope they continue that.

Red Frame - we made less flight pack than main figure so have fun paying for action figure DLC

Blue Frame - Oh shit we fucked up with the Red Frame flight pack DLC, so here's a whole bunch of generic tagged on weapons, everybody likes missiles and rockets right? pew pew pew

Half of them were redecos too. They even went so far as to avoid making Dreizehn because it would require new tooling even though it's one of the most popular units. Pic is all the cancelled figures they advertised as coming out to coincide with Exodus. I still can't believe original colors Mark Elf was a higher priority than Dreizehn. We even got that Neun and Zehn twin pack instead of characters that are remotely popular just to reuse more parts.
>>
>>6108461
This is why I pretty much quit supporting Bandai. If they aren't releasing something I want I just won't buy it because buying it doesn't guarantee I will EVER get what I want. They will take the cheapest route first which will generally sabotage any chance of getting stuff people want.
>>
>>6108461

>>
>>6108471

They probably plan their figures at least a few years in advance, so even if a line does well there's a long period to get something actually new out the door and during that time most interest will have died already.

Is the Metal Build Laevatein worth the ~$300 shipped it goes for new?

I have the RD Laevatein but it's pretty disappointing. The cooling fibre hair is loose and so are the abs. I tried pooling some varnish to tighten them up but it rubs off after moving it around just a bit.

I think I might sell it or tear it apart and try remaking the joints with new spring pins and pinning the hair.
>>
>>6108848
One more thing. Do the diecast joints on metal builds wear out quickly?

I have Gunpla that have held up for a few years no problem so I'm expecting these things to hold up for years upon years but I always hear diecast joints are terrible. Anyone have any experiences?
>>
>>Damashii Taurus never

At least we got Vayeate and Mercurius which is kind of amazing itself.
>>
>>6108857
Depends how much you play with them. They're generally built to last a long time but the thing with die cast joints is once they become loose, there's no way to tighten them.
>>
>>6108848
I actually love my RD Laevatein!

I have over 50 RDs and it's one of my favorites. Granted, the ab joint is a bit loose but it only provides for such little movement that it's not a big deal at all. Also, the cooling fiber hair broke in half on mine, meant to glue it back together but i actually dont like the hair so it's not a problem.

Also, considering the amount of accessories it comes with, the articulation, and the price it goes for now (4.5k-5k yen) it's a great deal on a manga only unit.

I'm sure that if it were released today it would either be an exclusive all together or you'll have to buy the demolition gun and N-jammer canceller separate as an add-on p-bandai exclusive.
>>
>>6108890
>but the thing with die cast joints is once they become loose, there's no way to tighten them.

I don't understand this. With diecast ball joints you just put Future or whatever people use in the sockets. For those preassembled Damashii-style knees and elbows with metal pins through them... there's nothing you can do even when they are plastic.

>>
>>6108848
>>6108857
It looks cool. Shame you waited so long, it was at retail price for the longest time up till recently when it started to climb.
What you have to know about the Metal Build line is that its more of a movable statue than a figure like RDs are due to the joints. The recent metal joints will absolute hold whatever pose you hold them until they wear out from constant movement...then you're fucked. But they're meant to look cool in one pose for an extended period of time until you decide you want to change it up a little, not constant fiddling like you can with an RD.

Don't listen to >>6109023 since they're talking about BALL joints and not this the 2 part joints they have in the arms, elbows, knees, etc. The space tolerances are low and any material you put in them will be stripped off the moment you move them again. Doesn't matter if its Future, high quality acrylic, whatever people use its not going to work short of fabricating a duplicate piece.

Should also mention that the P-Bandai exclusive Wings of Light for both the Metal Build Destiny and Strike Freedom are the biggest fucking rip off Bandai's ever pulled. The wings themselves are pretty good, you get what you expected. But they fucking packaged the shit with a sleeve intended to house both the original Destiny/SF Box AND the included WoL. As a temporary measure for shipping they have a plain white box standing in for the Destiny/SF box....which means you pay for shipping on a huge fucking empty white box.
>>
>>6108857
>>6108890

Maybe it's something about the way they are designed and constructed but MB and SoC diecast joints tend to be better than the garbage they use for SRCs. That line is a fucking scam.

Most Seed stuff has gone straight to the bargain bin. Destiny Impulse also suffered from coming out shortly before regular Impulse, so I'd imagine a lot of people only wanted one Impulse and just waited for the more iconic version that was actually in a TV show. I'm amazed the (new) Seed line hasn't been canned yet. You'd think they'd try something else after damn near everything in it went half off at some point. It looks like they'll probably just put out Metal RD Strike Freedom, Destiny, and Infinite Justice to get them back in scale though.
>>
>>6109318

That actually sounds really disappointing. I know larger, heavier figures are hard to make joints for but I don't want something that'll wear out from playing a bit.
>>
>>6109366
Ugly color scheme killed it for me. Granted, it's probably accurate to the original design but I wish they would have tried to differentiate/break up the purple a bit between body and backpack because as it is, it just looks like a purple blob on legs from a distance.

Furthermore, WHY in Jesus Yamato's name is it a regular release? It's precisely the kind of thing that SHOULD have been a web exclusive. Bandai's decisions confuse me.

>>
They are made by friction, but reinforced enough. They get ruined only if you move them in a brutal and fast way. Moving them slowly, the joints will consume less. Some of my old metal builds have almost three years now. I regularly change the pose once a month when i take them out of the glass to clean them. Not a problem.

Some, however love to play with them as if they were damashii and in which case, any figures get ruined.
>>
>>6109736

>>6109722
I only have the Exia so I can't speak for other figures in the line but the joints on mine are sturdy and tight and can hold any pose you throw at it. Not ratchets.

I think anon just wanted to point out that they're clearly "premium figures", and are not designed to be played with as extensively as damashii (not that they can't take it).

It's a very gimped release. I'm glad they actually used the proper Destiny Impulse, but there's no Wings of Light effect part, the beam boomerangs aren't usable, there's no beam shields, and there are no knives.

But more importantly than any of that, the wings on the backpack just look fucking awful.

Also SEED RDs in general haven't been doing that hot; Strike Noir is another popular design, but that went straight to the bargain bin too. I'm sad because I'd like to see more SEED RDs (at least the entire Impulse line, pleaseeeee), but also a little happy because at least it's cheap.
>>
>>6113386
Also (and this is a problem on the Force Impulse too) the color choice is just awful. It's true to the original lineart, which I can respect, but the original SEED lineart is horrid. There's a reason all of the really popular SEED stuff have been heavily stylized redesigns.

Destiny Impulse is kind of a bland mess of purple (what possessed them to tint the white?), and Force Impulse has these really dull shades of blue.

And the last problem is that the HGCE Force Impulse came out around the same time. Not only is it much cheaper, it straight up looks better IMO because it's based off the BEECRAFT redesign instead of Okawara's original lineart.

You can see what I mean by the colors in the comparison by the way: BEECRAFT really lightened up the shade of the colors, and it just looks so much brighter and nicer.

Just got my Metal RD EX-S and jeez, you have to play with it to find out how clunky the design actually is. It's hard to do anything without something bumping. Fucking beautiful though.

Probably not very good. Vidar seems to be a really popular design, but regular Barbatos is too and the RD didn't seem to do great. I think the problem with IBO RDs is that the model line is much, much cheaper and very good. Personally I think the models actually have much better sculpts than the RDs.

Does anyone around here have one of the giant assault kingdom figures like the Psycho Gundam or Quin Mantha?

I'm considering buying the Quin Mantha but would like to know how solid these things feel before buying it. The regular figures in the line are a little flimsy but that's expected given their price and size.
