I just want NECA to make this weird fucking Godzilla from Son of Godzilla.

We keep getting these edgier Godzillas, and I don't mean that as an insult like "fucking only edgelords like gmk"
I love both my NECA and SHMA gmks, I just mean we need the goofier side of the spectrum. And not just 1964 goofy, although that's one of my favorite suits along with 1962, but I mean full on pic related. I'd imagine it'd be a lotta fun posing it with other figures.

But it won't happen. I feel like 9 times outta 10 NECA goes for that more serious grittier option. They'll probably give us Millenium or Final Wars after Shin.

That's not the same thing. Toho licenses their monsters separately for everything. Legendary got Rodan, Mothra, and KG later. It's also the same reason IDW kept getting monsters for their comics one or a few at a time, rather than the whole studio roster in one shot.

Toho IS totally willing to quash licensing for a Godzilla design they don't want merchandised, though. Would not surprise me there, but then I have no love for that one anyway. All about Megalon and the MG movies.

Do you really think Toho "let" a piddly little comic company like IDW use monsters and then refuse for a bigger and wider multi-million dollar movie? IDW ponied up the money for the sake of nostalgia, Legendary didn't because they wanted to do their own thing.

To both those guyz that keep arguring about "who makes this" and what licenses what heres how it actually works:

Toho does in fact license each kaiju individually, which is why companies (in this case, NECA) only usually buy the rights to one monster, the obvious choice being Godzilla.

In some cases, Toho will NOT sell the license, such as >>6072960 pointed out.

So, with just the Godzilla license, NECA can TECHNICLY make any Goji figure they want, however they have to get it approved by Toho. Which, if youve seen Shin Goji, you would know it takes a fuck ton of time to get anything approved in Japan, and most of it is denied. See: NECAs Ghost Godzilla.

Which leads to my point, even though NECA is allowed to make any form Goji, they still have to get it approved by Toho, who have proven to be very restrictive on what can be made.

So, why would they spend the money to license another Kaiju, when Toho can ultimatly just say "nope"? Its too much of a gamble for them for it to be profitable.

SHMA Shin Godzilla just came in for me, and boy is it stinking up the entire house with the paint fumes.

I took it out of the box and I think I'm okay with it? It looks really detailed and impressive. It's my first SHMA but I don't really mind the deco. Although looking at it and the pictures already published of it I think it's one of those toys that photographs awfully but in person it's not too bad.

Overall I think it's okay for its price but not for what it's currently going on the aftermarket.

I got my Shin from Plamoya for $130 shipped. Mine doesn't fall apart, and appears to have a fairly consistent paint job. I did have to turn the right shoulder flab around so it was set in the socket right, but I've had no issues with the figure.

I totally understand why people are shitting on it, TOTALLY get that. But I'm actually fairly happy with the figure. Had I paid more than that $130 though, uh, well yeah...my tune would have changed.

It's unique looking but the head and body sculpt being flat out wrong makes my autism flare up

I have this thing and I both like it and hate it.

The figure is conceptually cool and the paint looks great, but I prefer posing the monsters in a more natural, movie accurate stance, and when I do that with the NECA retro Godzilla he looks stiff and retarded. The right leg sticks out a little more out the socket, and if I stretch the legs out, they don't look like the '84's standing posture.

What bias? If anything I liked NECA more than bandai as a whole.
The head is a stylized/caricature of what it was in the movie. His arms are too thick. His tail isnt long enough (as expected from a NECA godzilla) and he's the wrong color.

Like I said, he looks nice and is recognizable as gmk so it's fine. It's a good toy, but I don't know what you're talking about when you say it's accurate because he's not.

My first Monsterart, 1954 Goji, just arrived. Better than I expected. I really love this thing.

That does look really good, but I think the head is just a bit too large compared to the rest of its body. Also, if SHMA were to do it (which I am certain they will at some point), I hope they take some liberties with the design. Shorten the arms, give her some raptor-like hands and you've got an excellent Dinozilla.
