Does /toy/ like hot wheels? Post your trillest vroom vrooms
Oh wow, I guess /toy/ really doesn't like hot wheels
Acceleracers was the shit man, especially the design of the drone cars and the cars that could go invisible, see left.
Hot Wheels are fucking hilarious nowdays
Used to be way into them when I was younger, not so much anymore. I'll still pick up one on the occasion that it catches my eye
This mfka right here was my most favorite when I was a wee lad. Might have to pick one up off the egay.
>>6064044
I had the purple one
then they came out with a green one
purp was always the best
>>6063144
scored me a tub full of old hotwheels for a $100, most of em are still in the box too
pics come later when I feel it
>>6063960
Is this supposed to be fucking Yoda?
>those ears
for what purpose
I've got some Captain America and Batman vs Superman hot wheels. What's the best way to scalp them or trade for the nintenyearold ones?
>>6064956
>for what purpose
So you know it's Yoda :^)
Really love the batman related ones, will post more in a bit.
>>6065305
Used to own this catwoman car, personal favourite.
I always, since youth, loved HotWheels for their quality.
But disliked it for unrealistic design.
What do?
>>6065342
Consider Tomica as an alternative I guess. They have more licensed car designs at the cost of more $$$. Sorry if I'm hijacking the thread but there's not much love for Hotwheels in Asia with Tomica around.
>>6065383
huh, how are their trains?
I don't collect Hot Wheels but my friends bought me this one on principle.
I collect them since 2007.
>>6065342
You and I would get along. I only like the weird ones.
I have just recently got sucked into them.
They have been doing a lot of old japanese stuff that really does it for me. All the old datsuns and skylines are too cool.
>>6063144
I apreciate them for doing something new in the early 2000s with their crazy modern and over the top caricature designs. And some vintage ones are cool.
But i've always been more of a Majorette and Matchbox guy because they had such nice suspensions and they were more prevalent here. Micromachines get an honourable mention too.
Matchbox Lesney productions superfast era are my favourite. I get all kinds of excited whenever i spot one in a thriftstore and don't care how fucked they are as long as they roll well. Especially the slightly more crazy ones struck a perfect balance between looking like a real-life counterpart but also modifying the proportions to suit a toylike feel and be recognizable at a small scale. Where 2000s and onwards hotwheels are often over the top and with slick style, these cars were just in the sweetspot between oldfashioned kidfriendly toyish and niche subculture angry hotrodding attitude. They also had amazing level of tight sculpted details, nintendium paintjobs that stay relatively intact after almost half a century of play and retain their amazing intense bright shiny colours.

Oh and if you like hotwheels and matchbox and shit check out this dude's channel who restores and mods them.

good taste
I'm not much into them. My dad has a collection of the stars and stripes series(older series, not sure which year)
I mostly pick them up as gifts.
>>6064044
Mah nigga. I had a silver one that was my fav back in the day.
I think its amazing how these things have stayed pretty much $1 forever...if you think about the other shitty blind bag/kiddie toys in the aisle for 2.99, I think they are a steal
I kind of wish they would have a run of "boring" cars like tomica does
>>6074167
They remained at $1 because they replaced metal base with plastic base. And there are more and more coming out of the factory with defaults (misaligned wheels, bad tampo placement etc...). Some even don't roll straight.
I miss the time when for $1 you could buy a 100% metal diecast, exempt of default.
However, it has been 5-6 years that new interesting models appeared as >>6068085
stated. Jun Imai's designs are of the best quality, perfectly capturing the essence of a car. Hot Wheels was filled with badly done muscle cars for too long (narrow axles, HUEG rear wheels and such).
>>6074757
i hear you....it seems i have to sift through several now to find a car with minimal tampo mistakes
found these at Walmart last weekend
rate 'em
Reminder that Matchbox is superior.
Plus..I grabbed this Alfa Romeo C today. Haven't opened it yet, but it looks like a really good cast.
>>6075452
My matchbox cops for the month so far.
>>6075508
Cant**
>>6075508
oh, I agree, I definitely plan on opening them, but I like to do it all at once when I gather like 10 or so, then line 'em up, take some pics, do some nice shots, and generally play with 'em.
>>6075452
>>6075455
>>6075519
Superfast guy here, current matchbox doesn't really do it for me for the last decade or so. Mostly models i don't care about, poor wheels and graphicdesign. I honestly think hotwheels look better now for both crazy over the top stuff, more stock factory models and everything in between.
Do they still have bouncy suspension?
>>6075392
>Topleft
gnarly/10 love how the rounded shape continues to wrap around the bottom. You can just feel the weight of the thing. Redlines always look really good. Not my favourite colour perse but has a great finish and paintquality. Has visible interior.
>topright
Like the opulent colour and engine detail. The body is wavier wich is a nice take, but it also looks generally 'muddier'. While blacked out windows can look really cool (it definately looks cool here) i also feel it's just a way to cheap out on interior detail. Not a fan of superhots wheels.
pass/10
>bottomleft
Great enginedetail. While i understand the appeal of the caricature style cars, they mainly look retarded. Graphics look awful and unflattering to the design. The spokes of the frontwheels look way to thin to match the rear ones.
3/10
>bottomright
Overal shape is a lot better again and puts a more angular futuristic twist on it succesfully. Almost on the edge of caricaturistic with its tapered shapes, but keeps it subtle enough. While the paint has some glittery effect it looks a bit flat and dull. Very obvious muddy moulding with details that aren't as sharp as they could be. If the angles aren't straight and sharp as an arrow it makes undetailed surfaces just look cheap, this is very obvious on the nose and rear fender/windscreen area. Wheels aren't my favourite but are fitting and look alright.

How do you guys display/ store your hot wheels or matchbox cars? I'm getting a sizable amount, but don't know how to show 'em off
>>6079013
Clusterfuck lying all over the place so i can grab one anytime i feel like drive them around.
Two small cabinets with low drawers for the rest. Just make sure you make some sort of soft lining or trays to stop them from rubbing against eachother.
>>6075156
Loooove the new Warthog.
I am enjoying these ride-on vehicles so much, more than I thought I could ever like non-licensed designs. They will definitely make more.
So i went to Walmart today, and i thought i could check if there was some nice Hot Wheels or Matchboxes. And i foundthis nice little Hakosuka.
I think it made me love 1/64s again.
>>6081861
I also bought the Polestar and a Karmann today. I bought the BMW and those Porsche months ago, but never thought about opening and display them until now. Looks like i'm going to start collecting again!
>>6063144
I like tits dude and ur a fag so no
>>6081308
>kof legos
custom?
Anybody looking to buy some? I have tons of pop cult ones like batmobiles, bttf delorean, knight rider kitt, etc.
>>6081862
What series is that yellow Porsche from? I don't recall seeing it.
>>6082346
It's from the Porsche series from 2015.
>>6064044
There were a whole bunch of these "beast" cars like the dinosaur, shark and bat. This one was one of my favorites.
>>6082616
Oh shit bro, you totally just reminded me of one of my favourite cars as a kid that i somehow completely forgot about.
It's the motherfucking matchbox Rottwheeler and it actually chomps its hungry mouth when you roll it.
I remember bringing it with my to school all the time for 'toy friday'.
>>6081308
i take it you haven't seen

Pat Catan's, a craft store chain in Ohio with a couple stores in Michigan, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia has a Hot Wheels display, at least the one I was at, with cars and tracks. ...from 2014.
>>6083555
Not yet in stores where I'm in.
Okay hot wheelers and match boxies, I have a question, This is my collection so far, I'm about to open them all up. But I have very little shelf or wall space. What's a good way to display my new collection?
>>6085379
My Warthog!
>>6085397
Right side up
>>6085405
This was my favorite, and then they made it the best car in Stunt Track Driver 2.
>>6067832
That's pretty dope man it looks really good the way you have it set up
>>6067832
What are you using for the cases on this?
>>6085622
Too bad they final ran it. They likely wouldn't produce it for a mainline or a collector oriented series these days...Such a dope looking model.
Anyone know were I can get some speed racer cars without paying the price of a full hotwheel track set?
I love the Hot Wheels
Anyone pick up the Halo Warthog, Knight Rider or the Beatles Yellow Submarine?
>>6067832
That is a cool case. I need something like that.
This was my favorite hot wheels as a kid. I suppose I had bland taste. My surname is Penn, tho
Still have this guy from back in the day... was always a favorite.
>>6086001
I've been searching for that goddamn Yellow Submarine since May. Thank god they're continuing to cast it in 2017.
The only one i've seen was in a flea market where a dude got one from the US and was selling it for 15 bucks.
>>6087513
Hell yeah, I remember having about 3 different colors of those.
Similarly, pic related was apparently the first car my parents ever got me, when I like 3.
>>6085622
90s-00s Hot Wheels Best Hot Wheels
>mfw Hot Wheels is fucking $3.5-4.5 here in Malaysia
So, been hoarding these long enough, and I got a few more for Xmas, so I'm going to crack them open. Anyone want me to take pics? Mix of Hot Wheels and Matchbox Most from 2015-17
>>6089277
Is your last name Hadzmi?
>>6085445
Honestly the Hot Wheels cast version of the Tesla car is by FAAAAAAAAAAAAR more superior to matchbox one version, try to get it if you can. Dont known why, but it is.
>>6091408
It's because you prefer sportier bodywork and raised front lips over stock, unmutilated design.
found my hot wheels collection thats been in storage for about 10 years: http://imgur.com/a/MhBlj
>>6090121
I wouldn't mind seeing whats in that stack.
>>6075156
didn't know they make the warthog. i never find the cool licensed HWs
>>6065383
I remember once seeing tomica cars at TRUs. That was years ago. Do they still sell them there?
alright so this thread got me looking at the HW area of my local TRU.
I lucked out and found KITT. Apparently they had the Warthog, but the lady ahead of me got the last one.
>>6095147
the paint detail on the dash is really cool
>>6095148
I used to collect HWs some years back. I have a small collection in the garage. Maybe I should dig those out.
>>6095152
the detail on the license plate is really cool too.
Today's finds at the local Toys R Us were pretty interesting.
-Fairlady 2000
-VW Kafer Racer
-Porsche 993 GT2
-Yellow Submarine.
The Fairlady and the Kafer are very nice additions to the collection(i really like the look of the Kafer when they revealed it.) As for the Porsche, i already had one in another color but i'm a big Porsche fan so i got it anyway. And finally, I FOUND A YELLOW SUBMARINE AFTER MONTHS OF SEARCHING!
I was taking some pics to put on my Fb and this thread, but a nut on my tripod got loose and thus, i can't use it anymore. At least i got pics of 3 of the 4 cars.
>>6090121
I finally found that goddamn Matchbox Chrysler 300 on Christmas eve while I was out doing last minute Christmas shopping. Fuck me for doing that, but hell, I finally found the 300!
>>6068085
Agree, love the recent japanese models.
