No, next month. Jay C gets shit early for some reason. And yeah, Mezco looks ridiculous next to the others. Mafex is probably best overall. All their capes are shitty though

What's the best "generic" Batcave toy for the old Kenner scale figures? I want for my Legends of Batman toys but that line never had a batcave of it's own, all the vintage ones are kinda on the pricy side and a lot of the modern ones I've seen are kind of weird and stylized.

Here's the Mafex head on the Mezco One:12 body. Now wondering what the unmasked Affleck head from Knightmare version will look like on there.
>>
>>6035344
Mafex is definitely the best looking, the cape is totally fucked on the Premium one and he had black eyes by default.
The mezco one is actually ridiculously proportioned when you compare it to the others, those fucking chun-li thighs though. Looks real dumb if you compare it to the tiny head.
>>
>>6035344
>people not preferring the superior DCC premium figure.

Why do you guys hate near perfection?
>>
>>6035344
Mafex and DCC look surprisingly the best out of the four proportion-wise, with Mafex edging out DCC's as the better figure overall mainly due to the cape. If the DCC figure actually had either the Mafex or Mezco cape it'd be make for a pretty perfect 7" Armored Bats.
>>
>>6036559
Honestly, based on looks alone, I'd rather go with the DCC over the Mezco given how its proportions look much better overall.
>>
>>6035337
>buy one of NECA Baleman off of eBay because I know it will never arrive where I live
>reviews say his eyes are monumentally fucked and you'd have to pick through a number of them just to get a good one

Thank god, I sure as hell got lucky on that one.

What a homosexual.

Only Mezco and DCC got that right, and why theirs are the only ones worth considering and DCC's is clearly the best.
>>
>>6036620
>everything that lights up in-universe should light up on the toy as well
If that were the case then we should have light-up eyes and arc reactors for every single fucking Iron Man figure then.
>>
>>6036580

I don't know why you're freaking out, the figures all look fine when I've seen them.
>>

But that's wrong.
It has a lens inside, which is white. The LED is behind these lenses.
It's movie accurate, with the lenses being so recessed, so it's heavily shadowed when not turned on.
>>
>>6036701
People want a display piece that emulates what was on screen in the film, which was lit up eyes. DCC can't be lit up for more than a minute, it's not gonna look good on a shelf, no matter how accurate it is to the actual thing in universe.
>>
>>6036681

>>

>None of that changes the way it actually looks though.
Actually, it looks fine in person.

Camera images are pretty shit when it comes to lighting, hence overly bright lights to show off details, which create deeper shadows, which is why you thought it had black eyes.

White lens + light up gimmick = best Armored Batman.
>>
>>6036721
That's literally not the only complaint about it though, in which most of it was leveled at the shitty cape that probably requires some touchups/modding to sit more naturally.

>>6036774
Why are you so intent on pushing this?

The first anon you complained to basically acknowledged the DCC and Mafex as having the best sculpt even over the Mezco, with the Mafex only marginally beating the DCC based on how badly the cape was tailored.

The light-up eyes (or lack thereof) are practically a non-issue and just depends on preference. Light up features hardly make it or break it when it comes to figures in these smaller scales.

Maybe for you. And you probably don't care, considering how rare it is for awesome gimmicks like this existing in great looking toys.

Gimmicks like this makes a toy a hundred times better.
For Batman? Fuck off, the mood it creates with the eyes is what you'd only see in the cartoons and movies.

What are the best looking Supergirl and Batgirl figures? I went to a local comic book/hobby store and saw the DCC New 52 figures and wow they were bad. It's nothing like the reviews, their eyes were all sorts of fucked up and they just looked kinda dumpy, though maybe it's because they were just awkwardly stuffed in the casings.

They were $12 but I'm not sure they're even worth that.

The stitching and fabric texture isn't all that noticeable in person. It is less noticeable than your standard movie costume in a movie. It's a very fine grain, so at worst, it just looks fizzy.

Yep, bunching is just one of those things that clothes does. It can look bad and sometimes interferes with range of the joints.
You just have to fiddle with it to get it to look right, which is pretty easy with the spandex material they use.

>>
>>6042585
I think the icons is their excuse for redoing all the classic dc characters after dcuc ran it's course. If theyre smart, they are going to do the same thing with what hasbro did with the marvel legends deadpool and black series darth revan. Both of these characters had insane aftermarket prices, so they sold (or will sell) like crazy. Even the ugly cartoonish dc total heroes beyond sold really well because it was the closest thing to a decent 6inch articulated figure for under $80. Maybe theyre waiting for a series of shelfwarmers to stick him in for better sales or something.

So easy to spot his bias. When he doesn't like a figure from the start, every issue is terrible and a bad decision. But when he obviously likes a figure, most of the issues are "not really a problem, but since it's a review, I felt the need to point it out." The figure is so obviously crap and not worth 40 dollars, yet he likes it for some fuck all reason, so he has to excuse most of the issues.

He doesn't actually look too bad alongside MLs due to the less-exaggerated proportions. That's as long as you're okay with a fairly tall Batman, and even then you can kind of fudge him in there where it's hardly noticeable unless you have them lined up like in pic-related.

His legs can't move up past a 90 degree angle with his torso so crouching is limited. His upper torso can swivel fairly well and there's an ab crunch that allows it to bend backwards a good amount but it can hardly move forward at all.

Regular Superman: April 2017 - May 2017
Shazam: March 2017 - April 2017

At this rate, we'll be lucky to see the stuff they showed at SDCC by 2019.

My collection will never be complete until I have a Neal Adams style Batman that can pose like his artwork.

Can someone post a size comp between Mezco Bats and the Mafex figures?

>>6060927
haha holy crap at superman bvs version, how does it get delayed for 10 months

What about Reverse Flash?
>>

Is that lipstick?
>>
>>6060963
Nope its just any attempt at making mouths on that horrendous skin tone would've came out looking like lipstick.
That in fact looks like the kinda headsculpt you'd see on a 3,75'' figure.
He looks like a candle.
>>
>>6060956
No idea, but I'm guessing it will be delayed as well. Seems these fuckers can't put out more than one figure a month
>>

Anyone?

Hello??

>That in fact looks like the kinda headsculpt you'd see on a 3,75'' figure. He looks like a candle.
With statements like this, it's easy to know when someone spends most of their life behind a computer screen and never goes out to buy toys in person.

The sculpt for the figure is actually great and so are most sculpts for 3.75" figures. It's pretty easy to tell how detailed the figures are in person, because your eyes produce binocular vision and don't need extremely bright lights that usually wash out the detail to see something.
>>
>>6061440
Yea yea I know all that, repainted black series figures look fantastic because they highlight the good sculpts.
In my mind I was just using the word 'headsculpt' as a general term for the face itself, paint included.

And most times, the headsculpt is so good, a lot of people didn't mind the lack of paint, because the features are clearly defined.

There's a reason why most collector's actually liked Hasbro's figures, but there's a pretty well defined point in time when complaints started up big time.
No sculpt is immune from hate when the paint job is messy or way off the mark.

Here's a comparison between Mezco Batman and Mafex Wonder Woman. They look passable beside each other but Wonder Woman is definitely in a smaller scale.

Here's forward and backward ab movement http://imgur.com/a/xTPcf

The ab crunch doesn't go forward at all but the diaphragm can slide forward a little bit

Thanks. Funny how all the best figs of this guy need some flaw to balance it out. Already have the Mafex, but I don't know if I should get the Mezco as well or maybe wait for DC collectibles.

Can his torso pivot side-to-side at all or is it just a twist?
>>
>>6061771
Thanks, sizes match up well enough for me. That forward ab crunch is the most frustratingly absurd flaw, considering everything else if pretty much perfect. Almost makes me want to get it and modify it myself, but I'd probably fuck up the suit.

He's my favorite Batman. Sure the posing is slightly hindered but he looks great and seems so dynamic even with shitty posing.
>>
>>6062376

Every-time I see a pic of him like this I think maybe his waist/chest has been swiveled to the side, but then I look again and see it's only the head.
>>
>>6062388
His chest has been twisted a bit. It does swivel some.

Did the DC Collectible MOS figures ever come out? I'm kind of tempted with the Zod, Non, and Faora figs.

DCC is almost Black Series levels of bad with faces outside of their BTAS line now. It's disappointing, their figures used to have pretty good paint applications.
>>
>>6062405

Did these ever go up for pre-order?

It's fucking weird that the BvS Batman is up but obviously some kind of placeholder with no articulation and scheduled for sometime next year.
>>
>>6062451
Man, DCC pays all the fucking money for complex paint apps, but then those chinese fuckers fuck it up.

Also, i really wish DCC would stop using that transluscent flesh colored plastic and go back to just painting the faces again.
>>
I've got my eyes on one of the mafex bvs batmen, would you guys recommend the regular version or the armored one? I don't really have a preference, so I'm just looking for whichever is the better actual toy. I've heard the regular one has weak shoulder range, is the armored one the same?
>>
>>6063058
Surprisingly the Armored Batman one has better range in the shoulders and it's only truly hampered by the shoulder armor.
>>
>>6061771
I know he probably can't do it completely, but how well can he convey a crossed arms pose?

I'll agree that the straight outwards the shoulders aren't great, but every other poa is. He also comes with a pretty decent spread of accessories.

Arms can still be rotated up until the cowl stops them.

>he thinks original sculpts are 1:1 with the final production molds

>implying you've ever seen these in person and have personally been able to compare them
The changes are in the low single digits, >5% , according to everyone I've talked to.
Yes, it's measurable and something they plan ahead for, and the difference is so slight you need magnification to notice.

It's rare as hell when a sculpt actually changes enough to notice and it's almost always because someone fucked it up.
>>
>>6064022
What you're saying is literally complete and utter bullshit.

Casteline and other waxes have much different hold to form than injection molded plastic, and the path from one to the other is fraught with quality loss. When the Casteline is finished, a master cast is made. That copy suffers from degradation versus the original. Then that master cast is sent for mold tooling. The tooling suffers from degradation versus the master cast, and further degradation distances it from the original sculpt. Then you have the injection molded piece, which carries with it a much different expansion and contraction principle than any of the other materials used thus far. Wouldn't you know it: more degradation. As the piece enters into a cooling phase, you get disproportionate contraction based on volume. In other words, it's a lower quality malformed version of a mold which is a lower quality production piece created using a master cast which is a lower quality form of the original sculpt.

5% is the best bullshit number you can come up with? 5%, on a tooled mold that must produce tens of thousands of units. 5%, on a mold that in all likelihood will see reuse for another project, bringing in even more wear.

If you are talking the first batch of maybe 2000-3000 unit pieces, MAYBE we're talking 10% quality reduction. That's why low volume toy producers get such quality products out: because they stop pretty quickly and don't bang the fuck out of their molds. When you get into Hasbro numbers of production, you need to fuck right off with your lowball figure.

This:
>according to everyone I've talked to.
leads me to believe you're one of those fwooshfag pieces of garbage that live like parasites on the backs of toy makers at cons, and feel as though you're some sort of true behind-the-scenes buddy element of the industry. You buy toys, faggot. That's the end of your input: "I bought this toy that someone made".

But no, the only toy forum I've posted in was ringofcollectors and that's been gone for like ten years.

Most of what i know is what's been told to me by people in the industry.

Newfag here on /toy/, accidentally made my own thread to ask this but I'll do it here now. I am looking to collect the Greg Capullo designed Batman figures, but I want to do an Arkham diorama and the line is missing some of my favorite villains like Croc, Bane, Scarecrow and Ra's. Can you guys recommend any villain figures that might not look out of place with the line? Are the Arkham game figures bigger than six inches? Or too detailed?
